  • For more Tom Baker Doctor Who, head to bgfn.sh/2h - the Fourth Doctor Adventures series nine, volume one is now available.
    Nicholas Briggs presents Tom Baker with some questions asked by Big Finish fans.
    The Fourth Doctor at Big Finish
    Returning to the role of the Fourth Doctor after a long absence, Tom Baker effortlessly recreates the trademark wit, wisdom and humour of his incarnation in a series of full-cast audiobooks. Paired with Leela (Louise Jameson), Romana I (Mary Tamm), Romana II (Lalla Ward) and K9 (John Leeson), it's a nostalgic trip back in the TARDIS to the 1970s in stories designed to capture the distinctive flavour of the era.

    He may be 86 years old, but he's still got that same mischievous grin and youthful glint in his eye. Honestly, it's quite hard to tell just where the Fourth Doctor ends and Tom Baker begins. Tom Baker is Doctor Who.

    I met Tom Baker in the late seventies and he was the perfect gentleman. He was signing books while wearing the Who costume in the height of the Australian summer. He was sweating profusely in the heat while wearing heavy wool, but he soldiered on and was kind and patient with the fans. I'll never forget that day and his characterization will always be the definitive WHO for me.

    • @JnEricsonx
      @JnEricsonx 3 года назад +7

      Still kills me that Jon Pertwee in the late 80's used to come to a convention near my relatives, often in full costume. Unfortunately, I was a little kid who had no idea what Doctor Who was in America, or what a convention was. I would have loved to have met him, he edges out Baker only slightly for my fave classic.

One feels they know him, without anyone (but perhaps those closest to him) really knowing him. A social escape artist (at least as a public figure) to the hilt. Very healthy boundaries. He found a way to keep his private life private, and for everyone to love him, and love his good natured charm and winking mysteriousness. As a fan, I say good for him!

      Well I never heard that of that 1 before but he does mention Cybermen in "The Invasion Of Time" and if that a Lost Episode Script there is another 1 Colin Baker story "The Children Of January" which was originally intended for season 23 and season 1 of the Lost Stories which was never made I also mention this because after buying the two new lost stories it sounded that they were wrapping things up in The Lost Stories Department. So the only Cyberman Story that wasn't made was Genesis Of The Cyberman Series 19 as far as I know.

    • @bohenmerchant1

      Yes I know that but season 19 some stories were written for Tom Baker then changed to Peter Davison depending where they were in the scripting process. Anyway my point was this is as far as I know the only unmade cyberman script from the classic era

    I completely believe that Tom sometimes walks through his house in his old costume. In fact, I think chances are quite likely Tennant does the same thing.
    And then there is of course good old JB who preforms a strip act in his Doctor Who costume. I've never seen something like that before and personally, one time was enough.

Looking frailer than what he looked like back in December 2016 but still looking in good spirits all the same though :-). But what a truly lovely man I have to say :-). I grew up watching Doctor Who and Tom Baker will always be my doctor. Forty years ago my mom and I saw him at a convention. We went to a lunch where he was to be in the same room. We got there last and there was only one table left. They said you can sit here. In walks Tom and sits down next to me. I never took one bite. I could not believe my luck. He was very humble and could not believe that we had come all the way from Oklahoma, just to see him. Later on that day he was out by the pool and we got to take pictures and I have a picture of me and Doctor who! Such an awesome experience.
