I’m watching again in jun 2024, still laughing me socks off. Never heard of Tom baker before, left uk 45 years ago and not a Dr who fan. But Tom is hilarious and ebullient
It’s hard to choose who is the most generous laugher between Addison, Jupp, and Kumar. All of them equally ready to toss out some gold or reward others’ gold.
Also I learned that somehow "Leicesters" is pronounced "Lesters" in the UK. I have been an avid Anglophile since the 80's (thanks PBS for showing Monty Python and MTV for showing The Young Ones in America) and I did not know that.
@@herpderpherpdI mean talking about the UK in financial crisis doesn't really narrow it down in my lifetime, it's kind of been in freefall for the average civilian since Thatcher screwed you over.
I'm a liberal lefty American, and when McCain was running against Obama, I voted for Obama because he was IMO the best presidential candidate we'd had since Kennedy. HOWEVER, I was NEVER worried about what would happen to our country if McCain won. Maybe we'd have a few policy shifts to the right, nothing we couldn't withstand. The same was true when Bob Dole ran against Bill Clinton in 1996 and when Mitt Romney ran against Obama in 2012. McCain, Dole, and Romney have lifelong records of service, putting their country before themselves. Not the case with W, and obviously not the case with Trump. (A second Trump presidency scares the sh*t outta me, and it should scare everyone the world over.) If McCain had won, the worst thing he could have done to this country was die in office and leave Palin in charge. We seriously dodged a bullet there. So "Joe the Plumber" wasn't where he was supposed to be. McCain handled it ok, and we had a laugh. A laugh. Gawd, if only that was all we had to worry about with Trump. Secret Service agents would have been beaten, and there would have been ketchup all over the White House walls! Panic, people of the world! Now's the time to panic!!! Trump could be back in charge in the US, only this time he's got nothing to lose!!!
Trouble is, in 2024, your choice is either a corrupt, senile old fool or a corrupt, orange faced business man (unfortunately the 3rd choice isn't gonna get a look-in and he's the only sensible one!). So America is well stuffed either way...and in turn we will all suffer.
One of the best guest hosts ever. Paul seems to really enjoy himself too.
"I used to be Jon Pertwee...."
Baker is mad as a box of frogs...but a legend.
AAAAHH, you have a woman's purse m'lord!!!
Good ol' Tom Baker the mad hatter.
@@exitus82 "You have a woman's legs!" He absolutely stole that episode of Blackadder!
@@beenaplumber8379 He totally MADE it! It's definitely one of my favourite Blackadder episodes.
Toʻm Baker, William Shatner and of course Brian Blessed ... the holy trinity of delightfully barmy HIGNFY presenters
Tom Baker is simply a wonderful human being. Love the man.
That smile. You can’t help but smile back.
"Just wait until it turns into a Sylvester McCoy doll... then you'll really hate it" oh dear...
What's the time stamp on that?

Even in 2020 this shit is SO funny.
Baker really makes this.
Yep, watching this at the end of 2020, and loving Tom, he's all there
Watching in early 2024. Tom is incredible, and I wish he'd done more of these.

I've watched this episode loads of times, and it's always really entertaining! Thanks. 2023
Ah the Doctor Who, Blackadder and Little Britain references. Tom knew what to sell ... Just like Brian Blessed :)
Tom was a wonderfully mad old bastard in this one. Be prepared for stopping the video to laugh several times.
Chris Addison spends most of this ep just convulsing in laughter. I understand, man.
It’s hard to choose who is the most generous laugher between Addison, Jupp, and Kumar. All of them equally ready to toss out some gold or reward others’ gold.
Tom Baker is the best doctor I'd like to meet him
Thanks so much for posting.
Thanks for the upload :-) Tom rocked the house!
THANK YOU! I loved watching the whole episode even though in Australia, I appreciated most of the 2008 jokes and parodies of the "news" stories!!
I can’t see Vince Cable or hear his name without flashing back to James Acaster’s brilliant anthem “Vince Cable Sittin’ on a Table”. 😆
immediately had to sing it to myself as soon as they introduced him lmaoo
Chris Addison made a couple of "Doctor Who" eps. It's fun seeing how much of a fan he was.
One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen, Tom Baker is a riot! 😂
So cool how he entered!
I can't believe Chris was 36 here. I'm with Tom: he looks like a teenager.
I've never seen Tom Baker on anything, I didn't now he was completely insane
Have you never watched any of the first Little Britain episodes?
Why does not feel entirely out of place in a 4th Doctor episode to hear him say “The satanic sluts are notoriously private.”
Because that's when we got Douglas Adams writing scripts.
Yes, well, 15 years later, we all know all about Russel Brand now! 🤔
Chris Addison will STILL look like a boy when he´s 80.

jeff barton Magdalene College is pronounced “Mawdlin”
How the bloody hell did you used to pronounce it
@@jd_27 How it's spelled ol' chum. "Lie-kesters".
And Beauchamp is pronounced Beecham. Madness
Hi Jeff, it's actually, 'Lester' or Lester-shuh (Leicestershire) :)
Mad episode 😂
Tom at 12:55. Hilarious! Comic genius.
He used to be Jon Pertwee!
Funny how his clothes here kinda even look like his costume as the Curator during the 50th.
What season and year is this episode? Another great Tom episode. Loved it. Lots of excellent laughs, especially at Tom's theatrics.
S36E03
Oh and 2008
Kinda gives the year away when they spent most of the episode talking about the 2008 GFC

Yeah, you're still a babby :D
He did act a bit like one, a jumped-up little posh git.
The edits are really sloppy in this one. Very noticeable.
The gap in Vince Cable's teeth is just a little bit too wide to be charming.
today on ReWatch : 26:50, McCain's Tomb. a/o SEP2018, McCain gave up on brain cancer treatments and has joined the Undead Services.

Here now we learn that Russell Brand has an actual fan.
