Have you seen the Boris Johnson episodes ? Long before he was PM he appeared on several episodes , I honestly think this show is responsible for Boris’s popularity and political career , The Leftie BBC have never forgiven themselves 😂😂😂😂
I was so fortunate to get tickets to this episode - 3 friends and I were actually in the front row. One of the best nights out we'd ever experienced! Brian was on top form - it took about an hour just to film round 1. Part the way through the episode, the producer had to stop the recording because there was a queue of taxis waiting outside to collect those who had booked them in advance. We weren't able to leave the studio until gone midnight - so much of the whole footage had to be left out. Absolutely amazing.
The only thing bigger than Brian Blessed is his VOICE, and the only thing bigger than Brian Blessed's VOICE is his personality. An absolute treasure of a man.
That's what makes him so good with Shakespeare - his Exeter in Henry V and his Ghost in Hamlet were all the more ferocious because we all knew THIS was lying just below the surface, this howling, batshit-mad crazy man you had better listen to as if your coddlings were at stake. He's so good when he underplays his roles.
Note to ALL car manufacturers: Replace that little lamp on the dashboard with Brian Blessed yelling *"PETROL!!!!! WE'RE RUNNING OUT!!"* I guarantee, noone will run dry ever again.
practice your bellow. be sure they can hear you clearly in the next county. and Read. every, any, document, book, pamphlet, tome, absorb the information and use it. the insanity comes in just when you're not looking...
5:31 gets me every single time. The unexpected and completely over the top interruption, and the way Duncan reacts - he’s caught so off guard that you can see him whirl around with a “who the fuck said that!” expression for a brief moment before he realizes.
This has to be the funniest episode of HIGNFY. Brian Blessed is a national treasure. He is also quite mad. I haven't laughed so much on my own since reading the Spike Milligan war diaries. .
What's your favourite line? Mine was; "If I'd known before that he was a sleazebag I probably wouldn't have gone anywhere near him." So the photo of his knackers weren't a giveaway..."
This man is a wondrous whirlwind of marvelously manic, unfettered, utterly insane energy and he is absolutely magnificent. Brian Blessed for PM! Alan Duncan losing it at 35:03 made me laugh till I cried, lol.
Im sure Ive seen this several times before but every time a HIGNFY episode with Brian Blessed in it comes up in my feed, Im watching it. What a legend.
Has ANY television show anywhere in the world ever gone so spectacularly and hilariously off the rails as this?? Comedy gold, and you don't have to understand the specifics of British politics to love it.
Ok so I watched a different clip today with Brian Blessed and now I am watching every single thing I can find...dumb American that I am I was unfamiliar...he is spectacular
About the Prison news: Watch 'bad lads army'. Many commented that National Service was so much harder than their times behind bars, not to mention prison being bad for young adults who lost their way.
I highly recommend you listen to/watch the Richard Herring Leicester Square Theatre Podcast episode with him, it's 90 minutes of insanity. It's absolutely amazing.
Christ that has to be the funniest show ever. How I wish I could have been in the studio alongside the crew who must have been thinking there jobs were going to go after the first 5 minutes. Sometimes the funniest moments on tv are the one's that are not pre-planned. If you don't find this funny you need a humour transplant
These episodes with Brian Blessed make so happy. Hopefully they can get him to host a few more episodes. He’s just one of those people who make you feel like everything is alright in the world.
This is him acting amazingly because I've seen him chatting in round the table discussions and he's very subdued It shows what an amazing Actor he is Fantastic
This was the first episode I ever saw of HIGNFY when I was visiting England. I didn't know if he was always the host or what the hell was going on but I loved it and have been a fan of the show (and Brian) ever since.
I haven't yet moved to the UK when this was actually broadcast, but even without understanding every reference to then current affairs, I laugh my arse off watching this. Which I have done several times by now.
He's just happy he didint have to be his usual attention whore self, it's impossible with Brian there. So he was just enjoying himself, first time in decades.
@@talaveraleonardo ‘nancy boys’ and ‘poofs’ are kinda derogatory terms for homosexuals. Calling the Spartans that is funny because they werearchetypical macho men. I'm American and I've been sobbing laughing through this entire episode. Brian Blessed is an international treasure.
Boss Nass is an international treasure.
Agreed! I'm American and my face literally hurt from laughing so much after watching this episode
His voice work is the best part of Peppa Pig.
A-fucking-men! From a fellow Yank.

What time did the filming start?
oh man that was certainly a blessed day
You were in the front row? Are you now entirely deaf?
My, you were a lucky bugger, that’s definitely a night to remember
The only thing bigger than Brian Blessed is his VOICE, and the only thing bigger than Brian Blessed's VOICE is his personality. An absolute treasure of a man.
This is just...the best HIGNFY ever. It's incredible. Merton can't believe it.
Brian Blessed is insane. Probably the best episode of this show ever.
Without doubt the BEST HIGNFY I've ever seen. The panel couldn't keep up, Brian was just that good! :)
William Shatner did an amazing job as well
Tom Baker comes a close second. Both absolute legends
Can you imagine sitting down with this vision to edit up for a tight 30 mins???
Blessed, Baker and Shatnell are the Holy Trinity of HIGNFY hosts.
If pure joy was turned into a human being, it would be Brian. Love him!
As Bercow is stepping down, I vote that we make Blessed the new speaker of the house, after all, he could silence the commons with his booming voice.
ORDER! I SAID ORDER! I'LL FIGHT YOU, YA SILLY BASTARD!
Top shout. Totally agree.
It would make debates way more interesting.
When he shouted in London, they would be able to hear him in Wales.

I revisit this one at least once a month. It never gets old.
Same as you. Always brings a smile to my face.
I think the NHS should hire Brian Blessed to shout at the Coronavirus until it gets scared and runs away.

All headlines need to be read by Brian Blessed.
I revisited this. And it's my favourite one. Brian is on top form right from the go. Hilarious stuff. Paul and Ian are lost for words.
This might be the best episode in all of television.

Paul’s “Brian, you’d never guess you were an actor” is a brilliant ad lib as well.
I’ve never seen Paul Merton laugh and be joyous like that! That is very telling.
What does it tell you?
God America needs Brian to come here for a while, do a podcast, a TV show, SOMETHING.
This has to be the funniest episode of HIGNFY. Brian Blessed is a national treasure. He is also quite mad. I haven't laughed so much on my own since reading the Spike Milligan war diaries. .

This is by far the best episode of the show ever.
