At the end of Equalizer 1, Robert has evidently decided to start helping people in a similar manner, and Equalizer 2 will continue that story.
So on a positive note, I like to say this. Denzel Washington comes from the city of Mount Vernon, New York. It is the same city that I grew up in. He makes us very proud to represent the city of Mount Vernon, New York. He never takes for granted where he's from. He always represents the city. We have a lot of talent from the city of mount vernon in different genres, whether it's actors, musicians, professional athletes, but denzel stands above them all. He makes a so proud.

And in the new Equalizer movie, he'll be almost another 10 years older than he is here. Denzel has had an acclaimed career, but personally I like him best in "Man on Fire" and "The Equalizer." If you want to see him alongside a young Julia Roberts, there's "The Pelican Brief," and if you want to see him with a young Angelina Jolie, try "The Bone Collector." Love this movie. Robert doesn't just do things for fun or money, but does it to help people who can't defend themselves; the innocent, the oppressed etc, even if he has to break the promise he made to his deceased wife just so he could help the people he loves. An amazing point u made there Joy, about Robert also letting legal justice to have a play in the situation like calling cops, and letting people have 2nd chances, and not just deliver his own personal justice. Robert is both a former US marine and an elite operative/assassin of, I believe, DIA, Defense Intelligence Agency. DIA is similar to CIA, but its mission objectives are on different targets, individuals, organizations etc.
All I know is Robert is a better person than John wick. John wick is selfish af so this movie franchise will always be my favorite if we’re comparing the two 😂 Anywhoo great reaction
Robert shows a more realistic type of shooting scenarios.. even if his approach against more people (still way lesser than John Wick's) has the element of surprise John on the other hand, comes from a more Assassin Fantasy type of approach.. where no matter what will happen.. the worst he will get wounded but still lives

The John Wick universe is surreal, silly and difficult to identify/connect with and therefore the movies are nothing but "dumb" action movie guilty-pleasure entertainment. Sure, even with the Equalizer series, it does push our beliefs as to what a single well-trained ex-government field officer/asset is capable of, but it still feels a lot more real and genuine. Well paced, suspenseful, mysterious, as oppose to John Wick's balls-on-the-table everyone knows who/what he is, everyone is a dangerous killer in their own right. Love Keanu but I'd pick The Equalizer series every time.

Spoiler warning for JW4 since you already reacted to it... In JW4, John was fighting to be free of the table, but he also went through the duel for Caine and Mia as well. He was willing to go through the duel which would kill him for the sake of others and not just himself. Makes you wonder what he'd be like in JW5 if it's going to actually happen.
