To be fair, they go over what questions are going to be asked before the interview, so those are the questions Rob wanted to be asked.
Every single interview from Colbert with someone funny is awkward. Being terribly unfunny himself, he has no idea what to do with a person with humor. I regret it every time I sit through one of his videos. I get sucked in by a guest I really like and it’s terrible 100% of the time.
I love him. Mac is one of my favorite characters of all time. His inner-tension and insecurities throughout are so great to watch and when he finally comes out to his dad....not only comes out but continues on after his dad walks out of the room....it's just beautiful!
I could listen to him (the real Rob) talk for hours and would love to....gonna go find some more interviews
I was touched by the gesture of that episode. It was apparently RM's love letter to his moms, brothers and LGBT friends, but it made no sense in terms of the show. Mac would never do anything CLOSE to that. It struck me as kind of self-indulgent and showboaty.
@@MikeM-uy6qp I do agree, or at least think I do based on my understanding....it definitely seems like as the show continues on their true personalities are becoming those of the characters and, although I'm very much a lefty and agree with most of their opinions, it doesn't feel true to the show or at least what the show was/what made it great.
I know it's one of the two shows that makes Hulu worth it to me and I don't watch must beyond season 8 or 9 and even those aren't entirely enjoyable to me. Still one of the greats tv-wise!
Somehow the fact that he grew up in a lesbian household makes his character arc very poignant

To be frank (no pun intended): IASIP is one of the greatest television shows, ever. Far too many people have missed the boat, and I always feel sorry for them. Whenever I need a real genuine laugh, I turn to Sunny. Looking forward to Rob's new show!
It's hard to get into the show in the first place, friends of mine where watching it and I never understood what's funny about it, when I started watching it from the beginning myselfe I was hooked and binge watched 12 seasons in about 10 days.
BeneBengt I always told my friends how great it is!...but you MUST watch from the beginning to get to know the characters and their quirks. Never been told I was wrong about that 🙂 best show of all time!
My husband proposed to me by singing the "marry me" portion of the Night Man cometh episode lolol I agree with you
BeneBengt I got into it after watching the first 2 minutes of the pilot
Man, after I discovered the show and fell in love with it I was talking about it everyday at work basically begging my friends to watch this. Eventually they cave in and now I have other fans of the show at work 😄
I love Rob and "It's Always Sunny" has been my favorite show for more than a decade but that audience sucked. Not a single joke landed and it kind of felt how the general public has treated "Sunny" for the past 14 years.
They're too fringe, the industry doesn't get it
If I was there I would laugh and say "I think it's funny and I'm tired of pretending it's not."
IDK about any of you guys but I couldn't even get past 2 episodes of season 14. Does it get better? I love it's always sunny but to me it feels like they're just not into it anymore.
He wasn’t dropping trump jokes?
Colbert really did not help at all
Stephen has no idea how successful this show is.
So true colbert was barely taking him seriously
@@billyvonhein3205 I get that vibe too. It always bothers me that some interviews Colbert absolutely jams with the guest so well, and then others he is so abrupt with Q&As and doesn't feed the conversation at all. Rob explains the plot to Mythic Quest, Colbert stares awkwardly in silence *awkward nod* "There it is..."
I'm sure he knows exactly how successful a TV show that has 14 seasons is. He's on the business for Pete's sake
Come on now..... Rob was nervous and he didn't deliver with that extra charisma that you know we were all looking for..
He did seem prepared though...
@@Dylans503 it's kind of hard to come across funny when the guy sitting across from you is staring blankly at you. God forbid Colbert help sell the jokes with some chuckles.
I don’t think people realized that him preferring to be fat wasn’t a joke
I think everyone realized that. When he said it...
He was pretty obviously serious and explained why. People laughed because it's funny that looking great often means feeling awful, not because they thought he didn't mean it.
He gained mass🙄
Men look better with some fat, especially in the face. I don’t think men look good lean at all
Right! Not the first time he's spoken out about how unmanageable that lifestyle is for most.
Impossible to not love Rob. Man is very humble and genuine. He is able to transform both his body and personality to match his character and is a great actor/writer. He doesn't get enough respect for what he does. Much respect sir!
I wish he would go on Conan, he would get a much better interview.

Steven Colbert doesn’t even know anything about the show. Anyone can tell he’s been fed lines to read to act like he has. Rob is pretending like Steve knows it but we all know Rob and sunny fans know Steven doesn’t
I guarantee you that Colbert sees Always Sunny as low-brow humor. Not a doubt in my mind. And to keep it real, a guy like Colbert probably genuinely has much better things to do than plop down on the couch and binge Always Sunny.
That being said Colbert is a puppet with the industry's arm shoulder-deep in his asshole reaching up to his mouth and making it move like a ventriloquist dummy.
NAILED IT
Yes! Dude is comedic genius. Wish he would have had his first solo interview done by someone who could appreciate it.
That explains how condescending and phoned in the interview was
Colbert only knows how to be fake.. Thinking Colbert is funny is like believing CNN gives you factual news..
I’ve fan a fan of “IASIP” since the first season. When i heard DeVito was joining the cast i was hesitant at first. DeVito is funny but wasn’t sure how he would fit in with the cast. Now i could never imagine the show without him.

It wasn't actually a joke when he said that the ripped version was a miserable existence. He's explained this in several interviews and i'm sure he's tired of talking about it. Being ripped is a 24 hour a day JOB where you have to work out when you're exhausted and eat foods that taste like nothing. It SUCKS
Definitely. Being at that abnormal level of musculature and leanness requires ridiculous measures. Unless you get paid and receive all the professional help to get there, you won't get there. Steroids also help.

Damn, he entered the set with such confident energy.
Good stuff!
When I first watched Always Sunny wayyy back in Season 1, I loved it and ... could not believe how it stayed funny and *got better* after all this time. I loved it so much I went to visit Philadelphia. It is not sunny.
Their only one scene than I can think of that it rains in philadelphia
The name "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" comes from a dark comedy short play. Forget what it was about, but I do remember it being pretty twisted.

Yeh very underated. Dunno why colbert had such a distain
@@JacaboBlanco Colbert's problem is he spent over a decade interviewing people behind a satirical lens in the Colbert Report and Daily Show. He was able to say things he wouldn't normally feel like saying to guests because it was a satire and he was playing a character. That skill doesn't always translate to genuine interviews and he comes off kinda boring because of it.
I didn't expect his run on The Late Show to be just like Colbert Report but I was hoping he'd still have some of that comedy/journalistic edge but it's mostly gone from what I've seen.
Stephen Colbert missing all the jokes Rob throwing out at him

I swear Rob, Charlie and Glenn have to tell the same stories over and over again. It’s excruciating. Go look right now there’s like 20 videos of them telling the same fat Mac/ Danny DeVito stories. These talk show people are terrible at their jobs
Rob's big smile always make big smile, love this guy
Out of Charlie, Glenn and Rob, I feel like it's always sunny is His show
It’s literally his show. He’s the creator of the entire concept, the pilot and a vast majority of the scripts. Glenn and Charlie were executive producers alongside him because he’s awesome and made sure it would be “their” show as well. He wasn’t remotely selfish in a creative sense and understood as writers (let alone the character actors themselves since there was no money) they also reserved the right to determine what the though was or wasn’t.
Am I the only one who didn’t know he had two moms.
Had no clue. But I'm not a good comparison. I just started watching Sunny a couple weeks ago.
