A feature I didn’t hear mentioned was one that I really wanted from the other car that we owned which is a front extension button for the driver seat which rolls up the front to be two or 3 inches deeper for comfort. I’m glad we got the very top trim that we could get and being a 2024 it was discounted.

In 2016 we considered a Kia Sorrento but decided to go with Toyota Highlander. Although the Toyota Highlander will cost you more upfront, today we are still driving our 2016 Highlander with zero issues and resale value in the mid to high 20s. I think the Toyota is still the better choice if you plan to keep the vehicle long-term.
I like the exterior, except for the wheels. I don’t like the gloss-black plastic, the touch-sensitive HVAC area, and not having a bench. I’m not sure about the dual-clutch, I’ve never driven one. Do they offer a tonneau-cover that hides valuables in the rear, while the third row is folded down?
It looks good (reminds me of a Grand Cherokee from the front) and seems to be well equipped and a good value. However, I have no idea why they put a twin clutch transmission with the turbo trim though. If you get one of these, buy the extra warranty. I paid $2300 for the extra warranty on my previous Kia and got about $7000 in repairs covered with it (although, it was a hassle to deal with the dealer every time for it). I sold it as I was just sick and tired of dealing with it. It was good during the warranty period, but everything started to go after about 7 years. We know 4 people (including ourselves) who had the 2.0L Turbo engine and 3 of them had engine failures (was about $12k). So if you get this, get rid of it within 5 years or buy the extra warranty if you want to keep it long term.

If you are driving in a manner to "request" 200 HP, it doesn't matter if that's a 3.0L V6 or a 1.5T I4, you are going to use as much fuel as necessary to create those 200 HP. You can get a certain amount of power out of a 2.0L turbo I4 engine. If you want to double (roughly) the power, you can simply double the engine size, to a 4.0L V8. Alternatively, you could also just double the amount of fuel and air by using forced induction and achieve the same thing, which is why they do it. However, most people who have more power, will likely use it, which is why you'll struggle to see the supposed gains in fuel economy. When we had the previous gen Sorento with the 2.0T engine, it would typically be around 13L/100kms in the city. To the question of the bench seat. The question was if we can get a loaded Sorento with bench seats. That is honestly a genuine issue for most families I know, because if you have to use the 3rd row or have 3 kids, then you lose the cargo space. Now the solution you mentioned about going to Telluride does not also solve the issue, because even that does not have bench seats on the top trim.
Love the exterior but the wheels suck. Not a fan of the tablet screen being stuck on the dash look and your right about the shiny black plastic. Too bad about the bench seat
Another often forgotten competitor choice would be the Subaru Ascent. Starts around $45k with a couple more trims at around $50k (similar to other options here). The Mitsubishi is quite a bit less expensive but is also quite a bit smaller (since it's basically just a 3 row Nissan Rogue).

We have a 24 telluride in Florida. Considered the hybrid Sorento for Canada. Only comes with black interior in Canada. That sucks so much! I don’t understand why most Korean and Japanese brands don’t offer the same colour and trim as the USA. Can someone tell me why ? We bought a 2020 Lexus RX ,built in Ontario but not the same option list as the US models all on the same assembly line! This whole thing makes zero sense to me. We won’t buy a dark interior so we will look somewhere else.
Hey Andrea, would you please ask Kia Canada WHY did they take away the 3rd row AC vents??? Urrgh, so frustrating. It's a deal breaker for me. It was on the 2023 and older, but they have taken it away. Santa Fe still has it.
Another great Review guys. DCT? No problems for me with 2021 SELTOS and Service Manager says NONE for my Dealer. But, as you point out, hills, mountains? Likely why SELTOS now comes with an Auto Trans with less MPG, Slower 0-60, but traditional gear change. It really is what You like. I like my now DCT.
The previous Sorrento was actually fairly nice and a good value, but it was also…how do you say, paper thin? Like the vehicle looked good and for the money they went to town, but like a nice appliqué the look and feel was extremely skin deep with more basic underpinnings. Kind of like looking at a cheaper travel trailer, you know what the trailer manufacturer is going for design wise, but start looking a bit closer and peel back the details a little and it’s all particle board and cheap upholstery. That said, FOR THE MONEY, they did a very nice job on it and I think there are a lot of happy families tooling around in these because of it. I have no doubt this will absolutely be a hit.
I test drove Kia Sorento today and found the seats in Ex x-line more comfortable than EX trim. I don’t see anything mentioned in the specs. Did anyone feel the same ?
Buying a Hyundai/KIA (IMO) is like buying a generic brand electronic device at Wal-Mart that was made in China, & paying as much for it as a good Japanese brand. Sadly, Korean manufacturers seem to prefer to mimic Chinese quality/service standards instead of Japanese ones. But, they sparkle nicely when brand new, so what could go wrong?
Yes, we understand that it's all done to cut costs (to the manufacturer, not buyer), but otherwise, as Zack would say, the answer to the question that absolutely no one asked.
I believe the reason the US models don't come standard with heated steering wheel is because our climate for the most part is different than Canada's. Yes we have very cold states but also very hot and some almost tropical. So much less of a demand for it.
I just did a quick Google search for reliability issues, and self-destructing dual clutch transmission problems keep coming up? Can anyone elaborate why? Bad design?
Beautiful car, ironically yet not funnily Yesterday after watching this video I got a call from my mother who’s 2021 kia sorento S with the 8 speed auto transmission broke down. They won’t have a diagnosis’s yet but are almost certain it has the same transmission failure as the other 8 speeds in the shop. I thought this was More reliable than the dual clutch transmission and Now i’m once again skeptical on reliability of my 2023 Kia forte gt line and think it’s wise to trade it in after the lease instead of lease to own. It doesn’t have the 8 speed transmission like my Uncles K5 and my aunts Sorento but it has a CVT historically… even worse. Time for a noisy interior and a reliable car, i’m going toyota
The price seems a bit more than I would expect for the top trims, I'd stick with the non-turbo and the automatic on the lower trim where the pricing is just right. The dual-clutches are soooooo bad. :)
I wonder why car manufacturers are putting black wheels on many of their new autos now and not offering chrome or stainless steel wheels as an option? Is it that they are just getting a lower price from the supplier or are most folks preferring them? At least, offer options. I just think they look drab and detract from the overall looks of the vehicle.
Spent a week with this new model hate the dash set up. You’re using the same knob for for temperature and for volume super not intuitive. In my opinion I like the cars ride, comfort level performance, etc. but the dash is very confusing and not user-friendly and the media system also didn’t work much of the timeCarPlay would cut in and out so some mixed bag

Is the 10 year warranty worth it at all for the 2025 PHEV Sorrento? Unsure about Kia build quality these days. Thanks in advance
No second row bench on higher trims! 😮 Keep pounding the rock.
New Santa Fe looks and feels more premium all around if you don’t mind the exterior.
You guys r amazing.
Its a beauty... But dashboard not so attractive for me... Body is wide, which is nice...Hai from Malaysia...
Hi guys,,,,!! Thank you
Hybrid version is the best especially because it's a true automatic transmission..and the hybrids are currently on dealership lots in the USA.
I test drove Kia Sorento today and found the seats in Ex x-line more comfortable than EX trim. I don’t see anything mentioned in the specs. Did anyone feel the same ?
Is no middle seat an option? Or is it standard? Thanks!
I own the 24 Sportage and never imagined how much I’d hate the dual control panel for climate and infotainment.
Yes, we understand that it's all done to cut costs (to the manufacturer, not buyer), but otherwise, as Zack would say, the answer to the question that absolutely no one asked.
Not having a seven seat option, and no hybrid currently is a dealbreaker
Nice
Doesn’t seem like a dual clutch transmission is needed on this type of vehicle that seems more of an option on a sport sedan
Did you say "cloth upholstery"? Looks like leather to me. FYI - Sorento has one "R".
To see how comfortable these vehicles are, you need to sit in the back
while it's being driven. Not just check the legroom.
Hybrid is available in Canada, but it’s not :) Since you have a waiting list of 1.5 years to get it
Don't like the piano black? You prefer more dull gray? I love it. I bought that exact colour and model....so you need stop it. 😁
Piano black is great when it's new, but it shows dust and fingerprints really bad and scratches if you look at it wrong.
How reliable are they?
It’s too bad the reliability isn’t better, they have offered long warranties to try and offset concerns.
dont ask.
you are lucky if they dont burn your house down.
Gonna miss the pre refresh front 😢
Why is the led yellow
I believe the reason the US models don't come standard with heated steering wheel is because our climate for the most part is different than Canada's. Yes we have very cold states but also very hot and some almost tropical. So much less of a demand for it.
The guys in Car Carfection bought brand new Santa Fe with dual clutch and after 80 miles needed a new transmission
The replaced transmission is also having issues. It’s back in the shop. 😮
How long until it gets stolen?
What about Reliability?
I don't understand people's obsession with rear bench seats.
I would really like 6 bucket seats
That dual clutch transmission is really the only blemish on this otherwise fantastic SUV.
What is the name of this colour ❓❓
Wolf Gray
The price seems a bit more than I would expect for the top trims, I'd stick with the non-turbo and the automatic on the lower trim where the pricing is just right. The dual-clutches are soooooo bad. :)
I wonder why car manufacturers are putting black wheels on many of their new autos now and not offering chrome or stainless steel wheels as an option? Is it that they are just getting a lower price from the supplier or are most folks preferring them? At least, offer options. I just think they look drab and detract from the overall looks of the vehicle.
And they're not even well-designed black wheels - as black wheels go!
@@springertube Manufactures must be getting big discounts on them.
It's cheaper just to paint them black.
Hyundai Kia are light years ahead of BMW BENZ and AUDI. Hyundai Kia are the new Toyota Honda
which color?? Silky Grey?
Black wheels are easier to maintain. Some blue painters tape and a can of gloss black Krylon and 10 minutes of your time…curb rash repaired!
Panoramic sunroof wins!
I find if it's not a lease. Then buying a KIA isn't the best idea.... Kia is good at making a decent vehicle looks good. I'm not buying a decent vehicle. I'm buying a great one.
