Well, it’s not really illegal, and I suspect you know that, but I don’t like when a car brand comes up with a unique design feature and then someone apes it. I mean, be original. But Kia has been swiping other brands design since its inception. I don’t like it. The thing about those vertical lighting elements is that it was so unique that you could always tell it was a Cadillac when you saw it coming towards you from hundreds of meters away. When design elements are that unique, it should get respect instead of swiping it. I do wish Joe would zonk uncreative copycats. While it doesn’t have a third row, I’d take the 2024 Cadillac XT4 for $45k over this at $45k. You’d get a nice example of an XT4 for $45k. I mean, why not get the real thing instead of the imitation.
As always Joe thanks for the great review. Shoutout to Steven for the superb camera work. Kia is always improving their work and this Sorento is no exception
As much as I enjoy the looks of the 2024 Santa Fe, the Sorrento is more my style. I’m not inherently a square person. The front grill/DRLs looks great on this refreshed Sorrento, and that color is outrageous. What a great looking vehicle!
Joe, I'm trading in my wolf gray k5 for the Sorrento SX Prestige in jungle green tomorrow. Cant wait!!! Your videos help me more than you know. It's amazing and I just want to thank you sir!

I have had 4 Sorentos. My 2019 SX had memory seats, third row air, electric thigh extention, tilt down mirrors in reverse, double pane glass, and many other features that my current one does not. When they came out with the new design, which mine is a 2022, they took some features away from the Sorento so that if you wanted them plus the V6, you would have to move up to the Telluride.
Hey Joe, good Kia review as usual. I like the restyle. The inside looks fabulous over the 23 model. As a previous owner of 3-Kia’s, I often ask if the Kia value quotient is still in place. $45k and no memory seat for the driver or HUD display? Do the mirrors fold down when putting into reverse? Seems like Kia “Robs Peter to pay Paul” with model changes. The biggest issue I have with Kia is using that dual-clutch transmission. Car Connections just bought a 24 Santa Fe and the dual-clutch transmission went at 30 MILES!!! Total replacement needed. You read forums on the dual-clutch and it’s not good. I wish Kia (and Hyundai) would discontinue the dual clutch as go with the conventional 8-speed used in Genesis. If they used the conventional Genesis 8- speed, this would be close to near luxury and I might be interested. Cheers🤪
45k and a number of things missing for that price point. Hyundai/Kia continue to increase prices, however they are running low on the value that comes along with it. In the past, every upgraded model included additional value for the cost..
I had a 2016 Sorento SX (not SXL) and it had all the bells and whistles. I traded in for the 22 redesigned SX and man I was so upset with the missing features that my 2016 had.😢 1) no third row AC 2) no 2nd row pull up window shades 3) and most annoying no effin memory seating on the driver seat. 😢😡
I wonder if it is worth waiting a couple of years to get this used? If the market is not still crazy, perhaps there will be better values on these. That 45k new is hard to justify.
All the issues the review makes are addressed in the GT line available in Australia. We get a lot of goodies in like DCT, frequency adaptive suspension, suede headline, nappa leather seats, 14 way power seats with memory , 12 speaker Bose system, wireless charging, a very good head up display , 360 camera etc
@Rides well to be fair it is also more expensive at AUD 73k or USD 48K , but it has color options such as volcanic brown (metallic brown) makes it look very premium. I bought this over a Volvo Xc60
I have the 2021 model. It’s the EX. Nice to see the refresh not ruin the good, but fixing the bad. The modes not changing the display screen is annoying though. The only thing I see that’s missing is that we did get the 3rd row AC controls back then. Looks like you have to go higher trim for that now.
the interior of the Santa Fe is more appealing to me with the eliminated gear stack. It makes so much more space up front to use by putting the shifter on the steering column, where I like it.
I have the 2023 Sorento x-line SX Prestige and it has the Dynamic Gauge with the digital display that I absolutely love. Does the 2024 have it? If so and you do another video on a different trim, you should show it.

Never thought much about kia and Hyundai in 33 years of living but a co-worker told me about the elantra N and a buddy test drove a 24 Sorento so I wanted to check it out online. Great video first off, very well in depth but also I'm very impressed by this suv. Has a ton more room than my new 4runner limited i purchased a year ago. Overall I like it just a few things I don’t. The fog light position seems like an after thought, really don’t like those wheels and I think a 3rd row seating in a suv this size is near useless, I’d rather have more useable cargo area and ditch the 3rd row. Good job Joe!
I love these car reviews! Very helpful info I've had a 98 Kia Sportage and I'm rolling in a 18 Sportage. I'm looking forward to getting a new Sportage or Sorento next year! 😁
Hi Joe. Love the reviews overall. One correction. You drove an X Line EX. The top of the line is the SX Prestige which has all of the goodies. Leather, memory seats, etc. etc.
Hey Joe, I was looking forward to your review on the new Sorento. I have a 2022 Sorento . I was looking to update to 2024, but I changed my mind because of the plastic wheel arch and bumper, which, tbh looks ugly on this refresh model .The piano black finish looks much more premium in my 22 Sorento.
Those day time running lights awfully familiar! Please give Cadillac back there front vertical daytime running lights!😊 Remind me of a 2024 Cadillac xt4.
I would have never considered a Kia Sorento but my wife’s car is in the shop and we have one for a rental. It’s a very nice vehicle. It rides great, nice room inside. My only complaint is the power. I feel like it’s under powered. Ive now added it to my list of vehicles to look at when I buy a new vehicle.
Thank Joe. Really like the style of the Sorento. I happen to like the rear taillights. Very surprised to learn there is no seat position memory in the X-Line SX trim.
Nice interior, nice materials, good styling, but the only problem is that the brand tend to depreciates too fast.(same as hyundai).probably next year you can find certified ones with a few miles for almost half of that price.
Joe, great typical review. But No Memory Seats, No Power steering wheel adjustment? Little things like that are meaningful. Once You have those things, it's hard to let go! 4/18 update - I definitely prefer the Kia Sorrento over the new Santa Fe. I would also look into the Hybrid Model for sure!
Hyundai/KIA are not much better than Ford. They have long term reliability issues as well. DCT transmission issues, engines catching fire and the most recent recall of the Palisades where they could experience a valve spring failure, a problem that can cause major engine damage including puncturing a hole in the block!!!
Raiti, I know I’m excited and a little premature here, but when would I be able to stroke the new style PHEV? The split-tail lights on that rear end are really snappy.
No cvt, full panoramic, wiper tucked, ventilated seats, ac controls, and update interior. This is a real bargain for 45k you don’t get most of features given in 60k and up suv. I’d definitely pay around 52k-55k for a straight 6 turbos are just another bill. Just give me the 2020 3.3 v6 290hp 8spd 18/24 mpg and can tow 5k pounds. I think the s model in that style will be a must have
The flat black on the fender doesn't bother me, Joe! It's not a luxury vehicle, so it doesn't need to be painted. Plus, it has better durability to avoid rock chips. But overall, I'm digging the new refreshed Sorento. But if I have to choose between the Santa Fe and Sorento, I will choose the Santa Fe! The auto enthusiast in me has always wanted a Land Rover. And the new Santa Fe is the closest thing to it! Plus, I love the macho boxy nature of it. I'm looking to get the Santa Fe myself in hybrid trim. I'm just waiting for it to hit dealer lots!
I recently had to replace my car and we already own a 2019 Sorento V6 that we really appreciate for long distance trips so I was checking out the S Trim of the 2024 Sorento, but the markup in our area made them a non-starter, especially since they all had the panoramic sunroof which was something we were very much avoiding. So we looked at the 24 Santa Fe's which were hitting the lots but they became an instant NO since they only come with that dreadful DCT. Ended up getting a huge deal on a new 23 Santa Fe that was built in December 2023 (nearly $8,000 off MSRP!)
Totally agree, just calling the color "Ghost Rider" would have been better. Also right that nobody likes a "Little Dingy" hanging down"! LOL -------- I would run this SUV with that 3rd row down as a 2 row SUV unless I was taking kids to a ball game, etc. and then you can put them in the back row.
Strangely enough, the boxy Santa Fe is more aerodynamic than sorento. The difference is in the wheels: Santa Fe has beefy 30” tires in xrt, but sorento has larger 20” rims and less tire.I like the traditional shift lever vs the column shifter in Santa Fe) it does allow four a under console cubby & more room for 2 wireless chargers, but sorento fights back with a panoramic moonroof vs the dual panel in Santa Fe they are about evenIMO, but the Land Rover vibe gives Santa Fe the win for looks
that color is just a masterpiece
I am glad that you like it that much!
Oh yeah, it's conveniently the same as the kaopectate you'll need to swallow to keep yourself from vomiting upon seeing it.

Front end of this refresh is screaming Cadillac vibes to me which isn’t a bad thing. It looks good

So we looked at the 24 Santa Fe's which were hitting the lots but they became an instant NO since they only come with that dreadful DCT. Ended up getting a huge deal on a new 23 Santa Fe that was built in December 2023 (nearly $8,000 off MSRP!)
nice car BUT
NO ( HUD ) heads Up Display
NO Memory seats
Driver's seat memory in the X-Pro SX Prestige.
I like it! Do you know when and if the hybrid version will come up?
intentionally got the 2023 to avoid this "refreshed" styling. thank you to whoever posted the predicted 2024 styling changes way back in 2022
Amazing review Joe.
I guess great minds think alike my friend!
I saw memory seats available on another review, is it only on certain trims ?
Strangely enough, the boxy Santa Fe is more aerodynamic than sorento. The difference is in the wheels: Santa Fe has beefy 30” tires in xrt, but sorento has larger 20” rims and less tire.I like the traditional shift lever vs the column shifter in Santa Fe) it does allow four a under console cubby & more room for 2 wireless chargers, but sorento fights back with a panoramic moonroof vs the dual panel in Santa Fe they are about evenIMO, but the Land Rover vibe gives Santa Fe the win for looks
I prefered the Sorento. And this color is awesome. Very nice.
