  • The TRAILERS looked cute. The Oldies were all fans of Laurel & Hardy & we LOVE John C. Reilly. Should be OK right?

I completely disagree, it was a beautiful film which told the less well known part of their story, what really interested me was the fact that Stan continued to write for their act for several years after Ollie retired, where is that material? I don’t think we were meant to revel in their success as this wasn’t what the film was meant to do

It was called stan and ollie as it focused on them as people rather than their larger than life characters 'laurel and hardy'. Really enjoyed the film and thought the performances from the main 4 were incredible. A great tribute to them

I disagree entirely with your comments, ..It's the sweetest , most charming and endearing film ....I have seen in a long...long time...beautifully crafted, and it as a real heart and soul, . The film as an enchantment, and a gravity of emotions is both moving and celebratory.....and coogan and Reilly are extraordinary and play the roles with a realism and a sincere charm and affection .....my one critique of the film ..is the exaggerated feud they supposedly had...not true, Stan Laurel actually sent Oliver hardy a telegram of congratulations on the success of his solo film role...there was absolutely no feud between the two.......this film is a fitting tribute to two Comedy giants, and two lovely humble people.

I don't know what you two mean. Stan Laurel was revealed to be the shadow director and writer of many of their films which many common people don't know and how passionate about his work he was which is a huge contrast from his childish character to know Stan was the brains of the act. Also how Oliver Hardy was a very easygoing laid back guy that just wanted to enjoy life as opposed to his more angry bully persona on film and you say the film didn't differentiate their real lives from their characters.

I may see this film but I might wait till it goes into the kids club 😊 I read that they didn't socialise with each other when making the films until they were on tour and had to stay in Hotels and B&Bs they became much closer emotionally ... so hopefully that comes across in this film.

I really enjoyed this film. I thought it was sweet and endearing and the two male leads played their relationship brilliantly. I was surprised you didn’t mention the two wives either, as I thought they brought it to life more and had some of the best lines.

"John C Reilly was great" Nadia: "Was he great?" "I don't know if he was great?" Dude you just said he was great, you don't need to change your opinion because someone disagrees.

I really quite enjoyed it - found it sad but a remarkable story on how such legends could be playing in small providential theatres.

You're saving me a lot of time, money & effort! It's proving much more fun and engaging watching your reviews, then skipping films that may break my heart for all the wrong reasons.

Don't deprive yourself of one of the best films you will ever see, just because of an obscenely inaccurate review I don't know what film they were watching , but it clearly wasn't Stan and Ollie.

@@DSDMovies Especially when it is so ridiculously wide of the mark. It's like they pre-decided they weren't going to like this film and watched the film to justify their criticisms. They are entitled to their opinions, but they are in a tiny minority on this one. Mark Kermode adored this film and he is very hard to please. Form your own opinion.
