The thing about Kaiser’s editing is it still holds up. Rewatching the show doesn’t make it feel dated. Plus I’m watching a RUclips show I don’t expect Hollywood $100m edits. The jokes work. The edits work. That’s all that the show needed and remains all it needs.
I like youtube edits way more than professional ones to be honest. Professional editing might be "objectively better" but it has no life or soul. You've seen one trailer you've seen them all. But the editing you see from regulars can be so jam packed with creative techniques and transitions it's awe inspiring.
I completely agree with this. Some of the jokes may age but the editing doesn't. Of course it only improves but it was never bad it was always good.

Making Recoome into a pro wrestler and having his fight with Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan be shot like an episode of Monday Night Raw was absolutely genius. To the point that now whenever I see Recoome an any DBZ game I can only hear Gan’s voice and I always say “THE NAME’S RECOOME, IT RHYMES WITH DOOM, AND YOU’RE GONNA BE HURTIN, ALL…TOO….SOOOOOOOOOOOON”!🤣🤣🤣🤣

It's such a perfect line that for years, I didn't realize it was a DBZA original and thought they were referencing something he actually said in the show. DBZA's Recoome completely replaced actual DBZ's Recoome in my mind for years.

They DID go out of their way to flesh these characters out and give them lore, deeper relationships, dynamics and history
That doesn’t excuse what they do, but it DOES make them grow on you a little more
I doubt anyone cared half as much about jeice or burters death in the original series cause toriyama didn’t spend a few episodes building up their bromance 😭😭😭
It’s the same thing with the cell or the androids, they went out of their way to flesh them out so we could see a bit of things from their perspective enough to the point where we actually missed them when they were gone

@@shino4242 I can't name them, but Vegeta killed: The truck driver coming down the cliffside road that the Androids were on; when Vegeta's fight with 18 made it to the freeway, Vegeta is directly responsible for all of the deaths in that scene, 18 doesn't throw a single punch or blast, she just playfully dodges around while Vegeta runs cars off the road by taking off at full thrust from the roofs of cars and blasting them. I don't think they ever get resurrected by the Dragon Balls, either.
But, like Jeice, Burter, Recoome, et al, Vegeta has doubtlessly murdered countless innocents offscreen, as well.
And this includes both canon and Abridged Dragon Ball

It's hard not to feel sorry for Burter. He's the only member of the gInyu force who doesn't get a chance to show off in a fight.
well, he did show off when vegeta launched the dragonball and he grabbed it mid-flight, but yeah, in battle, against goku, they had no chance.

its so weird that the ginyu force are set up to each be a powerful foes and only like two of them get actual proper one on one fights and only two of them have unique powers when you'd think they all would

I just love the implication of the backstory that Ginyu Force existed long enough for Recoome to do similar styled fights on behalf of King Cold and/or Freeza 5 times
my favorite thing is not that recoome was made into a pro wrestler, its that the other guys always play along and help commentate whenever he fights, its adorable
Jeice being repeatedly punched in the face might be my favourite isolated joke in the entire show.
It keeps getting a big laugh out of me whenever I rewatch, even if I remember it's coming.
It's like, the one thing I actively try to do in games like Xenoverse. Fighting Jeice? Welp, time to repeatedly use Super God Fist, which is a single punch to the face, with its own little closeup shot.
I will say, if Recoome WAS in WWE, I can totally hear the crowed yelling "ALL. TOO. SOOOOOOON! *chears*"

Others said it already but Pro Wrestler Recoome is the best change you guys made. And it absolutely fits into the show too considering how popular Pro Wrestling is in japan. And because of certain martial arts mangas I'll always appreciate Pro Wrestler characters even more.

As a fan of Baki you probably heard of it since it was inspired by Baki a lot and even had a special crossover. Just like Antonio Igari and Mount Toba the Pro Wrestler characters are very inspirational and fan favorites. My pfp is also from that manga.

I'm kicking myself for just now realizing that "The only thing Recoome sells is merchandise" is a reference to the trope "No-Selling" an attack.
As a long time WWE fan, Episode 20 became and still is my favourite DBZA episode. Recoome talking in third person like The Rock, Burter and Jiece being Jerry Lawler and JR. And the top it off, the typical wrestling trope of the babyface coming at the end for the save with Goku and his Hogan theme music. Props.
Punching Jiece and Vegeta repeatedly trying to fight Cooler (in Revenge of Cooler 2: The Reconing) are some of my favourite gags.
Cooler 2: Return of Cooler's Revenge - the Reckoning was the TFS title if I remember correctly.
And I better remember it because I just looked it up.
I love how much joy Taka derives from just messing around with his voices.
This episode is basically Vegeta learning how the Earth Forces felt against Nappa.

Honestly Goku thinking Vegeta and him are best friends completely lines up with Goku's history of befriending most of the people who tried killing him over the years. After having it happen so much he would just start assuming he's friends with people he's fought.
I recall the marathon leading up to the release of episode 60, Lani mentioned that he loved "punch drunk Krillin".
What I love about Team Four Star's content is the love that went into it all. It starts out sort of feeling like "let's do it for the lulz", but partway into each it became "you know what, this is both fun *and* fulfilling, so let's really put in the effort to make something we can be proud of". It's easy to feel the passion that went into it, more and more along the way.
There are people that dump on TFS, but they don't see, or care to see, beyond the surface of what each show is. I'm happy to say I'm not one of them. You and the team made some great content, so thank you for taking the time to not only do it, but do it *right.*

Possible explanation for Goku's Mind Reading: In DragonBall it was established that Goku and Krillin can resonate their Ki to train with each other in their minds. They called it Image Training. It allowed them to participate in long fights that happened almost instantly in the real world. It's possible that they entered their mind world and Krillin explained it all to Goku.
Also Master Roshi reading Nam's mind
I heard a theory that basically most Hermit martial arts masters just naturally develop some level of mind reading abilities after a while, and that while Goku was training on his own on the way to Namek he finally counted as isolated enough to develop that ability (because realistically he's most of his masters' equal or superior by then besides Popo in terms of strength and skill.)
Your father wasn't the only one who sang that exact song to his kids, mine did too. Hearing it in the show was a big record scratch on something I thought was "homemade" lol

When Taka addresses Gohan being so young, he *literally* got the Ginyu Force kicked into him. You cannot blame him for chilling all those years, he had some mental health issues to get over and deserved a break.
Yea he never had a normal childhood he spent most of it fighting for his life and having people die around him. So him wanting to go to school and have a normal life makes sense

One of the sounds in Minecraft for a cow taking damage is a moo that sounds disturbingly like "nooooo!" A few times when culling a herd that sound has made me stop chasing for a second.
That still at 5:09 is amped to eleven in the Kakarot game. It makes him more intimidating and I love it.

Because up to this point all of Recoome's named moves that start with poses are these extravagant over-the-top moves. And it ends with Recoome just doing a regular kick. Nothing special for Krillin, lol.

Didn't even think about it until just now, but how would Goku know he can read minds when Krillin is literally the first person he does it to? There's no one else on the ship with him while he's training and traveling to Namek, so how would he know he has that ability?

Well Goku has always been telepathic he's talked to Gohan like that before in the Saiyan saga and Master Roshi did back in OG Dragon Ball when he read Nams mind. And I remember reading some where that apparently true martial artists could read minds or their opponents minds

I never really considered this but Recoome is strong as fuck.
The explosion he makes is the result of a misfire that shoots out of a single nostril instead of his mouth. Most of the energy likely damaged his mouth, yet the beam he shot from ONE NOSTRIL was large enough to engulf Vegeta entirely and nuke a nearby island.
Imagine how huge it would've been if he'd actually fired it as intended.
What kind of alien do you think Recoome is? He looks very human. I think the only other aliens we see as human-esque are saiyans.

It just hit me that Frieza refers to himself as "Lord Frieza" when attempting to wish for immortality. And it triggered this conversation in my head...

I remember watching this episode when it first aired and being blown away by the editing
The whole talk about the "fastest guy in the universe" thing kinda got me thinking about what actually attributes to the power level of a character. I'd like to think it's a combination or an average of all their faculties. So even though Ginyu has a higher power level, Berter could maybe have more of his power coming from his speed factor than Ginyu so he COULD be faster, in theory.
My headcanon is that power level is the non mystic way that Frieza's people have interpreted general life energy or internal ki. You still need technique or magic to express that ki, into physical effects and thats where martial arts come in. Its also my main theory to justify why Krillin can't blow up a planet despite having a higher power level than Saiyan Saga vegeta, he never wanted to so he never learnt a planet destroying 'technique'. Of course it completely falls apart when master roshi can blow up the moon all the way back in Dragonball😅
@@dabwiso784that's how I see it too. Like their power level is based more on strength or life force. Not necessarily speed or technique. Also if Krillin used a strong enough Kamehameha he could blow up the earth or at least cause serious damage
That focus on his face to show his teeth all messed up could also be a Mick Foley reference.
The wrestling parody was amazing, but Goku “doing a run in” to Real American made me a fan of TFS for life
Okay, I need to point something out here. Goku actually learned mind reading / telepathy from Master Roshi. "Jackie Chun" uses it back in Dragonball to see why Nam was so desperate to beat goku in that first Martial Arts tournament, the need for water to save Nam's people. There's also a point later on where Roshi and the Crane Hermit have a full blown telepathic argument that Bulma and Yamcha can "hear" because they're in the pathway of the two masters' thoughts.
The thing is, unlike Roshi, Goku can't do it without direct contact and the other person fiercely projecting their thoughts - like Krillin trying to give a whole explanation of what's going on. Yes, it's a bit deus ex machina because Goku learned the technique offscreen somewhere between Dragonball and here, but there is legitimate evidence that the ability is real and available to martial artists long before this.
They can also do image training so I think they have some sort of telepathy. Goku talked to Gohan during the Saiyan saga and Piccolo does it later on during the Dr. Gero chase scene
It would have been cool if they were all like Recoome, but I think he partly feels so special and fun because he’s unique. Also the DBZA version of Recoome is so good no superlative can express how good.
The repeated punches to the face is by far one of my favorite jokes in the entire series. It makes me laugh so hard every time I see it.

Calling it a Pile Dirver seems correct. I imagine that's what actual pile drivers would look like if the performers were super -humanly strong and resilient.
Honestly, I feel this is really the point where the writing (specifically the jokes) and the editing really started working hand in hand.

This episode is my favorite of all time. It's nostalgic and so good. It is such a gem and joy to rewatch!
Not quite a Powerbomb, not quite at Piledriver… it’s the Gonso bomb.
Oddly enough, this predates the Gonso bomb by almost 9 years. The Ginyu stuff happened in the fall of 1990, while the first time the Gonso Bomb was used in a wrestling match was January 1999… and the move was created on accident.
In a wrestling promotion call All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), Toshiaki Kawada broke his arm while wrestling Mitsuharu Misawa (who was Japans version of Steve Austin in the 90’s in terms of popularity). Towards the end of the match, Kawada went for a Powerbomb but could not get Misawa up all the way.
Misawa was left dangling upside down and Kawada had two choices. He could put him down safely and try again or go through with it. He went with the later dropping Misawa right on top of his head.
Episode 20 might be my favorite in the series. Honestly, Recoome is just too damn good.
Out of all the times I've watched DBZA, I just now noticed how similar Burter and King Kai sound.

An added bonus to playing GT’s theme music for Vegeta is that everyone theorizes that GT stands for Goku Time…and it’s even funnier as at the end of this episode it actually is Goku’s Time. Then when he fights Jeice and Burter Goku break dances and says “stop, it’s Goku Time” - to which Vegeta should’ve waited for.

I commented this When Kaiser and Lanny went over it and I will say it again. Recoomes promos to start this fight are the best wrestling promos of the 2010-2020 decade. It was perfect. You nailed it. and it is one of the best random bs adds y'all ever did.

The way Jeice kept pronouncing the word “Cap’n” with his thick-ass Space Australian accent, I swear for the longest time when these episodes were being released that Jeice was calling Captain Ginyu “Kitten.”

It took me forever to realize that wasn't in response to the Jabroni comment, but a reference to no-selling. I still feel like a moron.

The Jace punch was my favorite bit from the show. The follow up in the next episode just seals it.
