Bardock Movie:
• DragonBall Z Abridged ...
Lani as the 'icanseethefuture' alien is so goddamn funny, he did it so well
“I CAN SEE THE FUTURE!” “BULMA AND VEGETA HAVE A KID!”
@@tenkenroo "GOTEN AND TRUNKS BECOME A GUY!"
@@Spherecaster “GOHAN BECOMES THE STRONGEST IN THE UNIVERSE BUT DOESN’T DO CRAP!”
"CELL REACHES HIS PERFECT FORM!"
Nappa's "tricks are for kids" and the "I can see the future" lines are the only jokes that made me stop the video to laugh.
In hindsight, the idea of Taka being typecast as Nappa seems hilarious, given he would go on to have at least one voice in not just every abridged show, but a significant portion of internet web series for like, a decade going forward.
So true
Then gets the great role of Alucard
@@steffanyschwartz7801 THAT's Archetypal Taka, if anyone. That and Perfect Cell!
@@EmCeeDrue it’s MISTER Perfect Cell.
They also allowed Taka to do an alternate voice for Nappa in Dragon Ball Xenoverse as well which is awesome.
The ICANSEETHEFUTURE is not only iconic, I would dare to say it's QUINTESSENTIAL to DBZA. And Lani's delivery is just perfect.
Enter, Android 19.
I mean for "They're all psychic but they didn't run away", you could easily say they SAW the attack coming, their best fighters trained for it Z-Warriors style, and then the Saiyans killed them all anyway.
They should have seen that one coming...
Kaiser and Lani suggested that they're always using their powers to see the future, and didn't realize how soon the Saiyan attack was.
Alternatively they hid a portion of their species away where they wouldn’t be found, and they came out years later, hence why the planet was “miraculously repopulated”
I mean, it doesnt matter how much you can see someone pointing a gun at you, youre not gonna manage to dodge it. My guess is that they foresaw that they could do nothing to change their massacre.
I just think that they see so many visions of the future all the time that they can't distinguish what is present and what is future anymore
Taka went from being worried about being typecast to playing fan favorites every arc.
Well I mean...
He is hilarious, and we will quote everything he says.
He was typecast AS fan favorites lol
@@Codes911 I don't think Nappa or Guru were fan favorites till he got his hand on them lol
Taka had nothing to worry about, he is fucking fantastic in every role
He also played Cell and I’ll go on record saying DBZA’s Cell is some of the best villain writing anywhere ever. He doesn’t need his fists to rip your guts out. He’s the bad guy who just sees you
From
funny, likable, childlike Nappa
To
Crude, rude, likable, badass, Bardock
a crude, rude dude and you won't like his attitude
Actually Bardock more of a straight to the point he reminds me of Bob Belcher.
Crude, rude, doesn't afraid of anything
@@marxist-leninist-protagonist doesn't afraid of anything indeed
And from crude, rude, likeable, badass Bardock to the perfect, very quotable, endearing Cell
You know, “I can see the future” is so distinct a joke that I’d always suspected it might have been a reference to something that I didn’t get. To hear that it was indeed an original joke to this show is wonderful. Definitely one of the best gags.
"I can see the future!"
Up there with Soup Store as one of the abridged jokes that gets me every single time.
Agreed. The soup store bit is one of my fav jokes ever.
My favorite joke tfs ever made was Bardock combining spiders and spikes into
" Spikers"
I see those spiky bastards all over the place in Florida
@@rwbyab7423 Facts
Like father, like son...
Goku: Androids... terrorists... we have a bad case of 'terroroids'.
I was quoting that for YEARS and just stopped a while ago... thanks for reminding me my friends will thank you
@@PhillipOnTakos glad I could remind you, I quote this all the time as well!
My personal TFS headcanon is that at 24:30, right then, Freeza decided to start playing his "heroic speeches" game.
That, of course, means that he heard all those hundreds of speeches during Goku Lifetime, which makes the ridiculous amount extra funny to me.
Well, it seems like he conquers planets on a weekly basis so hundreds of speeches seem reasonable in what, 30 years?
52 weeks in a year, 30 years, about 1500 on the upper limit of that if he gets an average of one a week. Definitely within a reasonable range.
@@josephperez2004 Also there's a good chance he hears multiple speeches per conquest.
@@josephperez2004 ah, but how many SPACE years?
@PhazonOmega That's actually an interesting point, since the whole concept of years is one full rotation around the Sun. I think for example, Jupiter's 'year' is like 20ish Earth years.
I still like how Gohan gets "crapbaskets" from Bardock
It’s a sayian thing I guess lol
So you're telling me Trunks got it from Gohan who got it from Goku, who got it from Bardock
“How do you know the parts you weren’t there for?”
@@ed752 and Cell got it from them all
Oh! He says that too….
I'm so intrigued on how deep TFS's relationship with DJsexamiliionares goes. Seriously, he must be a huge fan of the show he's worked with them so many times now.
I Mean Sabat got both Kaiser and Lani voice acting jobs at Funimation and also almost got Lani, Kaiser, Masako and Taka voices for DBZ Kai, the final chapters under aliases but someone from Funimation found out and put a stop to it.
I thought it was Sean Schemmel who put a stop to it
@@Damian_1989 Jesus, why is sean such a prick to them
@@stoovanoe can’t take a joke. He takes his one role waaayyy to seriously than Sabat. Notice how Sabat has more roles than Sean dose.
@@Damian_1989 Was he the one who actually reported it to toei? Sean is such an ass sometimes.
14:18 THREE HOURS.
Imagine thinking Takha is a 1 hit wonder and he ends up playing the best version of Cell in all of Dragon ball
Best _versions,_ no less. Love that we got cross-backs into the prior forms by the end of the series, they're all so distinct. Except the ass-butt.
Bro made second form cell a memorable character, something that’s almost impossible
@@Nicholas-bm1xeYeah, Semi-Perfect doesn't even show up in Xenoverse games.
APPULE is a character in Xenoverse games.
"or dare I say...rose!"
Honestly probably one of the most cognizant lines TFS ended up making, in the most unintentional way possible.
How?
Because of super saiyan rosé
I love how Taka talks about wanting to prove he could do other characters and ended up being the best three Cell voices I've ever heard. Especially first form Cell. What a lad.
The thing is, they hadn't cast Taka as Cell yet. Kaiser was originally set to play Cell in the initial cast list.
Ever since we saw this, everytime my brother and I go to dairy queen together we always shout at each other the "We're going to Dairy Queen!" line in the Nappa voice
TAKA BOUTA TALKA ABOUTA BARDOCK
😂😂
I commented about this on the other commentary, but I remember there was a TFS fan art contest that I was going to write a fan script for History of Trunks. It didn't work out because I only really had one joke, but it was a really good joke.
As Trunks is taking off in the time machine for the first time, Bulma gets a voicemail. "Bulma Briefs! I implore you to stop what you're doing! If you succeed in splitting the timeline, my people will-" *time machine vanishes* "...I CAN SEE THE FU-TURRRE"
I love that, actually
Bardock's rants in the episode of Bardock are the BEST performances Taka has ever done.
“OF ALL THE STUPID! ASININE! SHARK JUMPING BULLSHIT!”
@@TheDeathOmen His delivery was freakin' amazing
@@MisterAutist It really was.
Dodoria's punchline is one of my favorite kind of visual cuts. Every time a work does it it's bone-chilling.
It blows my mind that taka is conscience about his bardock voice while he was able to give a monologue as dartz with an accent that’s almost completely incomprehensible to most that almost moved me to tears while listening. Taka you’re the goat, the cycle through your voices a few episodes ago proved it
who is dartz?
Dartz is a character in YGO. In the abridged version of yugioh, Takahata101 plays the character with a humorously goofy and incomprehensible accent
@@tonberry2670 that’s him??? Why did I not know this sooner
... I was today years old when I learned _Taka plays fucking Dartz._
A thing I love about the show is how universally adored LK's Freeza is. It was an absolutely amazing cast
Taka you absolutely proved that you can play other characters! I love hearing your bardock. It honestly suits him perfectly and I'm glad you played him.
14:51 For years, I thought Dodoria was an evil Space Mulan. Like part of the joke was that she had only revealed her true gender to Zarbon, who was too stupid to realize she was hiding that fact and only avoided blurting out her secret until after her death through sheer dumb luck.
I love the intro, I always say it just screams “this is an 80’s movie”.
@@alexzero3736 OH MY GOD THAT DIDNT EVEN REGISTER. Lmao dude I haven’t seen that since I was a teenager. Which was in the mid-2000’s btw. Don’t wanna give off “I’m old” vibes. 😂
Why did i JUST realize Taka's avatar is bending over backwards? All this time i thought he was just hanging upside down.
with fairy wings on his ass and head
and the ass has jiggle physics 😆
Taka I just want to to know your acting range is incredible. I was just rewatching the FF7MA movie and the delivery on some of Red XIIIs sadder lines brought tears to my eyes. Hats off to you my dude!
Totally forgot they did that, even though I've seen it twice! Might have to rewatch a 3rd time and keep wishing for a FF9 parody..
@@Vivi_9 I feel ya. If I was better with visual edits I'd consider trying my hand at a FFIX abridged. It's really underrated and deserves the attention and care they gave FF7
Not gonna lie, the opening synching up with the music and the Ozaru wrecking the planet was the hypest shit as a kid
That's what you get when the main editor of the series started editing with AMVs.
Plus using music from the animated Transformers movie (of all soundtracks)!
I first heard the line timed to that Oozaru mouth-blast as "Death!", and I insist to still hear it that way. So camp, so rad!
On the psychics not saving themselves from Bardock's attack. Perhaps they foresaw that sacrificing themselves to give Bardock his visions was ultimately an essential part of preventing Frieza from becoming immortal on Namek?
Not likely, as the Kanassan that attacked Bardock said he did so to make him "wallow in despair at a hopeless future he cannot change"
People overthink this so much lol. its a simple explanation, Being able to see the future doesnt give u the power to stop it too.
How would anything Bardock did have affected Frieza on Namek? He didnt do anything to Frieza, his visions just gave him a front row seat to death.
@@kurosakikun96 Yeah, that’s what he did in canon. But in TFS canon the Kanassans did come back.
Nah, dude. They can see the future. Not a joke, either. If you can see the future, you cannot change it... then it's not the future anymore. It defeats the purpose of it. Foresight isn't the opposite of hindsight. Ya know?
It's weird to think about, but fun. Anything they do is already part of it inevitably happening. And the weirdest part, that already proved multiworld theory or whatever it is, from the future trunks shit.
You can't change the future, you can't change the past.
I get not everyone liked Linda Young's Frieza, but that was the Frieza I grew up on; I never heard the Ocean dub Frieza but Chris Ayers' Frieza was (obviously) phenomenal.
But LittleKuriboh....man he just adds an edge that I cannot describe.
I love how you guys look like the stereotype of nerds in the old footage you have of you together. It's so funny
If is any comfort for you Taka , i've been a fan since 09-ish and I didn't even realized that you played Bardock.
I think my favorite joke you guys did was making it canon that Bardock was a brilliant scientist.
Taka disappears into his voices in a way that's mesmerizing. With Lani or Kaiser, you can hear them in the character's voices if you listen close enough. But with Taka, his normal voice is so totally different from every character voice he does in every way, it's truly fascinating to hear him just casually slip into one.
I cna concur: the entire "ICANSEETHEFUTURRRRE" gag is THE best joke in the entire abridged series. I LOVE the "I"MONFIRE" bit too. it's the long pause he makes BEFORE he reacts.
There's a few ways you could jsutify the carnassans not fleeing their planet if they can see the future. Maybe they didn't want to abandon their home, maybe they fought they woud be able to fight back despite what they saw, maybe they thought they could negotiate, maybe they were jsut fatalists and saw no point in defying fate? Perhaps making Bardock see the future was their REVENGE, maing him see the consequences of his race's actions and have him experience the fear and despair they experiencd? who can say.
The series really is bad at remember that the saiyans, as a whole, were awful garbage monsters, right down to tryng to paint bardock as a traditional hero despite the many innocents he slaughtered. GT actually brings this bac to focus by having Baby act in revenge, but he is so indescrimate and hypocritcal in his revenge he jsut comes across as jsut as bad as the saiyans. Also gotta wonder how Frieza got the saiyans to serve him. other races it can be assumed he conquered or scared or appealed to their own cruelty and greed, but you gotta wonder how he appealed to a a race of hedonsitic violent maniacs.
The additional clip of Cooler at the end is fantastic especially since it served as a great way to lead into Cooler's Revenge down the line.
I can imagine it wasn't very hard to appeal to the saiyans, Cold Gave them Gear, Technology, and space ships to take there violent tendencies to other planets for not only colds benefit but for theres as well
This is legit my favourite thing you guys did. The alien delivery is so good. To this day after all the hundreds of times I heard it, it still cracks me up.
If it makes you feel better, I literally never realized until I watched the cast commentaries that Bardock and Napa had the same voice actor. The voices are very distinct, and you killed it in both roles!
Bardock is my favorite character and you Taka are my favorite VA that Bardock has ever had. I didn’t even know you voiced him until recently and it caught me so off guard in a good way! Thanks for the fantastic performance to my fav character, man!
I always took the "dike" joke as a way of saying Bardock is actually a shitty person
“I PLAY ONE OF THE ONLY SCIENTISTS IN THIS SHOW!”
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 omg im ded!
23:44 he’s still in the atmosphere and his Saiyan biology gives him more powerful lungs, just like in Battle or Gods
*Dodoria sings Another One Bites The Dust*
Cell: Well ain't you a Queen just doing your thing"
Freddy Mercury: "Damn right"
Why does Taka not show his face anymore? I miss seeing him, he’s arguably the most expressive & funniest of the bunch.
Because bartender v-tuber.
Cause Taka decided to become a v-tuber. He does sometimes show his face and dog, just less often. Besides, he seems happier being a v-tuber.
@@UrSammich Please don’t hurt me for asking, but what’s a V-tuber? Good, I was worried he might’ve developed BDD and would never show his face again.
@@megancraddock5501 a VTuber is a kind of streamer/content creator that uses a real-time animated Avatar, the term was coined by Kizuna AI
and nah, Taka just became a VTuber for fun
@@Artista_Frustrado Thanks for the info. I’ve been seeing that name Kizuna AI for awhile now and never bothered asking about it. I hope so.
I’m not being an emotional bitch but DBZA and Hellsing abridged got me through a really rough time in my life, im sure im not the only one. Thank You 🙏
This was always my favorite TFS movie, definitely helped because of all the music from my favorite movie of all time!
My fav line in this "Useless ass psychic powers!"
They have been really wanting you to come out and finish the rest of the commentary with them
He’s actually not in space and I can prove it, he’s still in Vegeta’s atmosphere
Yeah, they're just in Vegeta's upper atmosphere.
GT was joked about by the Karnassians later in the show, and the reference to Vegeta with a mooSTAAAaaash during the Cell saga.
I like how Taka Bardock voice sounds like solid snake.
There will be a Day when "I CAN SEE THE FU-TURE!" will not break me.... today is not that day
"I swear to god I will turn this whole show around"
lmfao I love Taka so much
I was there for the premiere and I remember that yall actualy had to rewind the video cause the cheers were louder than the video and went fur a full minute! God good times~
"Complete annihilation."
Such a great line, and I've used it so much.
8:32 I love this line.
Could probably do a TFS compilation of questionable dietary choices.
My god scrawny kid Kaiser and 5head masako are incredibly cursed
Edit: 2:29 MY GOD IS THAT LINKARA WITH A FEDORA?
Linkara came out the womb with that fedora.
DID I SEE DOUG WALKER AT THE TABLE TOO OR IS THAT JUST WHAT NICK USED TO LOOK LIKE?
@@rebeccathumb9584 Back when Doug Walker was respected by the online community.
@@Scsigs i think most of the shit he gets is unwarranted tbh
i mean you could have said those same exact words about tyler mcvicker but i feel like he's rebounded as of late, and to a lesser extent so has doug, although "as of late" should be considered the last like 2 years in that case
@@rebeccathumb9584 I'll be completely honest. Doug to me comes off as narcissistic. He also has problems seeing other people's opinions as valid when he's formed his own about something. Even before the Change the Channel stuff, I thought that. And it often shows up in the Nostalgia Critic where it's played pretty straight after the 2013 revival, but he's had moments in the videos where he's reviewed stuff as himself & it shows up.
My biggest example is the Hocus Pocus NC "review" where it was nothing but a big extended unfunny SNL-type sketch rather than a more straight-forward review where he made fun of the movie, only without any of the context a regular review would give so those who hadn't seen it wouldn't get what's going on. Then he pulled the old "guilty pleasure" excuse for why the people who like the movie do (which he previously did with Moulin Rouge). And that was what Doug actually thought because he did a second Disneycember on it a few months later & said as much. And then the shit he tried with the The Wall review. Like, he poured a lot of effort into it, but he clearly didn't understand what the album or movie was going for & it showed. Which is where a lot of people also saw how bad his review style can be.
I really don't care if he's rebounded. I stopped watching a while ago & lost a lot of my respect for him. I can acknowledge some of the things said about him 5 years ago were probably overblown, but I don't think a lot of them were that far from the truth. Especially when so many people have complaints about working with Doug.
In space, everyone can hear your scream....Frieza's name
Holy shit the Clark bit was a Superman joke.
I just fucking realized that.
Goddamn, what is wrong with me?
Yeah, it took me awhile to get that Joke, but it didn't take THAT long lol
Your "Bardock: Father of Goku" is great. Your "Episode of Bardock" is f***ing amazing.
If you all ever manage to find the LK Freeza reaction, I'd love to see it.
23:30 My theory for the reason they can breath in space is it's a standard issue feature of "Frieza Soldier Armor"™. This keeps 'early DBZ Vegeta in space' things cannon, but post Android Saga Bulma makes all of the armor and just didn't include/know about the feature. Allowing DBS to confirm Saiyans can't breath in space without being contradictory
That GT scene in there is just makes it depressing that is the last memory bardock saw lol
Good thing we got the episode of bardock special where he meets the proto-sayians
@@tenkenroo ...It's sad that those are a better final memory than the Para Para brothers, but that's GT for you.
I still remember going to Akon in Dallas and someone tried to use their Q&A time to try to audition. It was so awkward because you guys were trying to not entertain the idea while still being nice.
Gotta love Chris Sabbat risking everything to give these guys one or two lines at a time in the background.
Gosh darnit Taka. x'D
You really can't help but laugh with Taka's vids. x'D
His improvisation skills really are top-notch. x'D lol
The amount of times I respond with “your mom’s an army” lol
I love watching Taka's reaction's especially because he's so damn proud of it all. And guess what? He's right. It's a great show and stands so well all on its own. The best parodies are ones that stand well as their own piece of media, consumed without outer knowledge, and I think they knocked it out of the park.
20:45 in this shot I love that they have one Mexican saiyan right there, reminds me of my Tio (uncle Raymond) r.i.p
Was not expecting to see AngryJoe in this video, but I appreciate that you've all met!
Oh yeah, for a while TFS was pretty connected to Channel Awesome and that whole crowd
TFS DOUG WALKER ANGRY JOE AND LINKARA ALL IN THE SAME ROOM MY CHILDHOOD?????
Bardock is one of my favorite characters of yours and your ssj1 scream as Bardock is fuckin great dude
"Dare" is absolutely my favorite Stan Bush song, one of my top ten favorite songs in general, and I cannot thank TFS enough for introducing me to it. By playing both "Dare" and "The Touch", I was inspired to go see The Transformers: The Movie for the first time.
Just gonna bring up that, "dare I say... Rosé?" line.
You all were epic foreshadowing without even realizing it.
Ah yes, back when Channel Awesome was ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.
I like the fact that if Bardock couldn't see the future, the movie wold be exactly the same.
5:55 I think this joke is okay cause Bardock is supposed to be an asshole and generally gets his comeuppance for everything by the end of the movie
Taka, you absolutely would've loved my younger brother! His favorite line from this movie was also "I CAN SEE THE FUTURE!!"
"Hit it!"
"Boom, para para..."
"Boom pa pa!"
*Random ad break.*
"she was the only one here with a decent pair of t..." now now dont sell yourself short bardock
"I can see the future" is the lynchpin line of this whole movie 0 doubt
I find it funny how Bardock just calls out Toma's name last and then later says Toma was his best friend? Shouldn't you worry about your best friend first before anything else?
I thought he was calling them out in the order he saw them
@@alexzero3736 Well, he later says that he was the only one he cared about, and that everyone else was bland, so there's that
I love your version of Bardock. I honestly thought TFS was going to go a ‘Solid Snake’ way before the actual episode came out, but sass in Bardock is gold.
I desperately want to see a clip of the crowd reaction for LK's reveal as Freeza, but short of that resurfacing upon the internet Taka does a fantastic job of capturing the moment.
I am a massive transformers nerd so all the references in this special made my heart soar.
Let me say, No there was no better! Lol you were amazing in everything you did, especially Bardock. I grew up on the dubs, had most the movies and you guys killed it all the way through. Not to mention Hellsing. Your honestly an irreplaceable part of the TFS Crew and I couldn't imagine not having you.
I gotta give it to Nappa. Dairy Queen does make everything better.
Channel Awesome and TFS sitting at a table in a maid cafe was the 2009 Internet version of The Avengers.
Linda young was a phenomenal Frieza and I will die on this hill.
I got a RUclips Premium ad right before Mr. Popo appeared in Bardock's first vision.
Well played.
Whoa, Nostalgia Critic was meeting TFS at a Maid Cafe? Cool 😎
Don't worry, Curt, we all knew you were not just Nappa. What you were from inception for the series, was a writer, Scott is first and foremost an editor, Nick is a combo of writer and actor and you are a full on writer. In fact you are so prolific spotting your non-sequitur humor is so notable, rest assured it out shines your performance from any single character. Incidentally great performance as Bardok though - just unrepentant a-hole.
You done a great job as Bardock, you’re humour is one of many reasons we love DBZA so much!
Personally I’d quicker rewatch your version than the original! Haha
Nah your Bardock is great. I love it and I think you nailed an honest DBZA -esque look at the character
I can't get over how younger Takahata101 looks like a more grown up version of Tekking101, and Tekking is older than young Taka now lol
I love that the alien's experience of time is so dislodged from the present that it takes him a couple seconds to realize he's on fire and burning to death.
I like seeing Taka’s commentary on these but man I have to have it at 10% volume
"Complete Annihilation" is one of those quotes I just say out loud from time to time.
Also, personally even though the "raging dike" joke might be dated, the scene doesn't glorify the slur at all. Throughout the episode its made very clear that Bardock is an asshole so its in character to also be sexist.
over the course of years, phones, and other random notification sounds "ICANSEETHEFUTURE" has remained my calendar notifications tone, and the fact that I still laugh at it makes me so happy, good job Lani
