I watched Rome when I was going through such a hard time in my life. Ray's talent helped me get a semblence of relief when I needed it. He was amazingly talented, and his work meant so much to so many people.
His performance as Titus Pullo was career-making because it was so complex-he could be brutal, cheerful, and vulnerable all within the same scene. His arena fight at the end of Season One ("Thirteen!") is heartbreaking. It's interesting to see that he admired actors like Lee Marvin and Gene Hackman, whose talents were for keeping their emotions under the waterline: Stevenson could emote believably. His historical roles were the best-you really felt like he was a man of his time, not a 21st century person doing cosplay. I am so sorry he's gone. I always wanted to see him in leading roles. I'm pretty sure he would have blown us all away as Coriolanus.

This handsome hunk of a man first caught my attention starring as Titus Pullo in the series Rome. His performances were brilliant and I very quickly became a fan. RIP Good Sir, my sincere condolences to your family 😢
Ray's performance in Rome was devastating. He is so compelling in every role. I'm sure he will move me with his performance of Baylan. What a huge loss for all of us.
Ray Stevenson will be missed. Thank you for all you have added to cinema over the years. Rome was a great series, but I watch how he plays a fallen Jedi and you can feel the storm brewing inside of his character and that's real acting. May peace be with his family and friends.

Hes definitely the most stand out performance in Ashoka. Sad he won't get to see his next action figure line. Thank you for all your fine performances, Mr. Stevenson.
He was great in ‘Rome’ and really opened his career. From then on I knew all the movies and shows he was in. Loved his career and sadly will miss talent.
I loved that show Rome. I remember having to wait every week for the new episode come up back in 2006. He showed such gravitas as Titus Pullo and that is always the character I associate him with everytime he is on screen. The best mates from Rome, Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus. Rest in Peace Mr. Ray Stevenson
Excellent tribute video, thank you very much. I've counted myself a fan of Ray's ever since Rome. He was one of the few actors where I might become interested in a movie or show that I might otherwise have skipped, simply for him being among the cast. Thank you Ray for fantastic entertainment over the years and condolences to your family. Rest in peace!
His character on Ahsoka is the most interesting and engaging on that show. Regardless of Skoll's fate "in universe," I'm sad that we won't see Stevenson again in that role. Great character, great performance.
I’ve been a HUGE fan of Ray’s for a long time, especially since Rome. There are those celebrities that you know you’ll so much as meet president speak to but there’s a connection because you notice the nuances of their preferences and when they pass away, especially at such a young age, it actually hits kinda hard. One of the reasons I like him so much too is my absolutely loved him, and since losing her to cancer 9 years ago at the age of 34 many of her “favorite” things still make me sad. I hope they met in heaven. 🙏🏻
I can't pick one. If I saw him on screen I stopped and watched !!! I will say, I loved him in Rome, and now Ashoka. What a loss. My sincere condolences to his family.
Wow... thank you Looper for doing this segement. I actually had no idea that I have seen most of Ray's movies and LOVED him in each role. He shall be missed.
Thank you for making this one of the best tributes out there of Mr. Ray Stevenson R.I.P. as he was to me one of the best British talents ever!!! This is a wonderfully tasteful and respectful video, showcasing all of his best work, especially Titus Pullo in ROME (2005-2006) as this undoubtedly put him very firmly and proudly on the superstar map. I can't stop watching him or thinking how not only the film/t.v. world lost a great British actor but the world lost a utterly wonderful, larger-than-life, talented and gifted true gentleman! My heart-felt wishes to his family and a thank you for sharing Big Ray with the world of us who appreciated his enormous wealth of talent and characters, I will never forget him. WE LOVE YOU BIG RAY!!!!!! 😊😭❤❤❤❤❤💔💔💔👍
Years after Punisher Warzone was put out on DVD, I remember my mom watching it more than Iron Man, she loved Jeff Bridges' performance but seeing Ray made a huge impression on her and same with me. Shame to see him go too soon.
An awesome man. Gone too soon. Looked cool AF as Baylon. Loved how he portrayed this character. He brought an exceptional energy and presence to the show. In just those few episodes, he became my favorite Jedi next to the two greats of Anakin and Obiwan. Rest In Peace you magnificent man
My favorite Ray Stevenson roles were definitely his roles as Asgardian Volstaag, and Jedi turned Sith, Baylan Skoll. I hadn't realized Ray played Volstaag until I watched this video. I was like "Oh! So that's the actor who played Volstaag, one of Thor's besties!" Lol! 😁😂😂
He is the only reason iv been watching Ahsoka att all. he is tere says little and makes more of an impressoin taht te rest of the chapter. it is sad he is gone. lived his work in Rome. one of my all time favourite series.
I have been a fan of Ray's for a long time. His take on Edward Teach(Blackbeard)in Black Sails was a tour de force...After watching the latest episode of Ahsoka, I can't help but wonder what could have been. His portrayal of Baylan has been beyond fantastic...Stoic, conflicted, skillful and such a nuanced performance....I personally think he's been the highlight of the show so far, especially after watching the latest episode....The great news is that despite our loss on the corporeal plane, we can watch this performance digitally forever...For our friend Ray...
Regarding the actors who played The Punisher.... Dolph Lundgren - Thomas Jane - And Ray Stevenson.... Ray Stevenson performance was the best incarnation of the way he was written in the graphic novels!
I agree that Jon Bernthal is a great Punisher, but I was rating the Movie/Film Punishers. Not TV/Streem Punishers. If Jon Bernthal made a movie, YES definitely the better Punisher, but unfortunately He only did the TV version.
I never actually knew him before, I seen some of the movies he was in and he was a fantastic actor. It wasn't till watching this that I learned he had passed and since I've been watching Ahsoka that's very sad. His performance in the show is brilliant and he will be missed
Only a few have the burden of being replaceless, and they know it. That's why their flame burns brighter than others. Ray was and is such a replaceless flame that now has his own star in the sky because he's gone from this place, and I wish him a world of peace in the afterlife..
We lost a genuine and true soul the day we lost him. He seemed like the best uncle someone could wish for and even through his roles you can see how warm and humble the guy was and how good of a person he was. I truly miss him although i haven't ever known him. I don't usually have that with people but when they die and you feel that vacant emptiness inside you know the world lost someone great
Ray was one of my favorites. I wish he had gotten more recognition before his passing. Punisher: War Zone was the first thing I ever saw him in, and I will never for get it. What a fantastic presence.
I loved all his performances but his Danny Greene in Kill the Irishman and his Punisher rendition...although written strangely...he made the character endearing despite the questionable dialog..He more than made do..and to see him join the Star Wars universe made my heart glad..
WOW. Sad, I just realized I love him as an actor and didn't know it! I saw all those movies and didn't realized it was the same person! Strange for me, not to look it up. I usually do. He was very much liked/loved and it it hurts that he passed too early. In Ahsoka his character is a bad guy but I don't think anyone hates him, he is liked and he seems to have this ability to be likeable badass even if he is the "bad guy"
I Would Have to Say, Ray Stevenson’s Role in the Show “Dexter” was the Most Surprising and His Character in my Movie the “The Book of Eli” was my Favorite.

so sad. gone too soon. RIP Mr. Stevenson. i wonder how much of his "Ahsoka" part had been filmed?! It was about to make him even that bigger of a star.
This was a true shock. He was one of the greatest actors of his generation. His ability to command the camera and enthral the viewer has gone too soon.
His work on Ahsoka, with scripts sub-par, has been great. He made the most of facial expressions and emotions. To be such a powerful presence but so much soft nuance in moments... really strong work throughout his career.
I’m shocked. My jaw dropped hearing this. His character on Ashoka has me going to watch the clone wars. As a fan I’m saddened to hear this. Good actor. My condolences to his family truly. I know there hurting behind this.
always remember him from ROME. a great tv series and so authentic. he played a great character, a common legionnaire , caught up in the great events of the period, rubbing shoulders with Caesar and Cleopatra... its a shame one of his last projects was another disney SW's flop tv show. though i hear he was one of the best things about it. shocking he died so young. idk he was from Northern Ireland. and died from suspected heart attack. i served several years in NI and sadly men do seem to die quite young there from heart related illness. a couple of old friends from my time there died , one of whom was only 36.. another mid 50's . all drank, smoked and loved an Ulster Fry.
The greatest thing I have ever seen on film was Ray Stevenson as Titus Pullo in the gladiator pit. I have goose bumps now recalling that moment all those years ago watching it on HBO on a Sunday night. The scene had me crying uncontrollably when Titus began screaming "13!!!!13!!!!!13!!!!13!!!!" to the crowd and I'm was covered in goosebumps from the pure awesomeness of that character, his honor, his lack of honor, the epic fight that just kept on going and going and Titus Pullo undeniable skill as a man killer. With tears streaming down my face, I whimpered out "YES!" as each gladiator is slain by the mighty Pullo and I said "YES!" "Yes!" "Yes!" is all I could say, and I really didn't want to say anything, but I couldn't help myself, I was completely taken by the moment. I have never shouted at a tv screen before or since, not for sports, certainly not for a tv show or movie. The extreme roller coaster of emotions was exhilarating and exhausting. I felt as if I had just fought for my life in the Gladiator Pit. The adrenalin dump comedown, the realization of the absolute bloody carnage I'd just witnessed left me dazed, numb and tired. Wow! What a moment that was, what made it all possible was Ray Stevenson's performance and charisma throughout the show, I was totally invested into the character but was unaware how deeply until that scene. The 2nd greatest scene I've witnessed that also left me in tears was the return of Luke Skywalker to rescue of Baby Yoda on The Mandalorian. That was awesome and emotional too. But Titus Pullo takes the cake.
Ray Stevenson played the best Punisher ever on screen in my opinion. Punisher Warzone is in my top 10 films. Thanks for the experience Ray, rest in paradise sir.
RS was one of those actors who, when he passed, actually upset me. He's a stand out in Ashoka, and he's been a favourite of mine for years. Loved him in the Three Musketeers. RIP big guy.
He was truly my favourite older male actor. My favourite was when he was Titus Pullo, he was jackass/loyal/an absolute asshole/ but a good man and friend. He was cruel and professional at times but kind and sweet. Titus Pullo was a layered character and I'm sad to see Ray Stevenson pass. He was really one of the bests
I feel just as I was getting to know him as an actor he was gone. Very sad. I hope those that were close to him find solace in that he at least was very happy and grateful for all he had accomplished. And the way he lived.
I only ever realized that I had seen - and liked! - many of his roles when I looked up who gave that masterful performance as Baylan Skoll. That's how good he was. Not "Harrison Ford in a different outfit"-good, but "you can't even recognize it's the same actor because they are so deep in their character"-good. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
A tremendous actor. I first saw him in Rome. He carried such gravitas - his characters boomed even when whispering. He would have been the perfect Judge Dredd
What was your favorite performance by Ray Stevenson?

RRR :)
Book of Eli

So sad to hear his passing... he was actually one of the very few active actors I actually liked to watch on tv. 😢
RIP, Ray. I loved his charisma. First noticed him in Rome, and after that, noticed him in everything he appeared in. Great guy.
Yea Pullo was the best character in Rome. Loved the ending with him and Caesarion walking away. I would have taken more seasons though.
@@jdgoesham5381 True, I think we all would, at the least the fans. It was shut down too fast.
Such a dashing man. RIP.
He was an awesome actor I’ll always miss. RIP Sir!
I loved him on Thor and Black Sails, finally watching him on Ahsoka now is heartbreaking.
Loved him in punisher but I’ll always remember how brilliant he was as Titus Pullo. Think it’s time to watch Rome again :)
Just when I thought I couldn’t love him more, I find out that he spoke about the Divine Feminine. Such a tragic loss. Adored him in ROME.
This was much needed. Thank you
Unique actor, true legend and such a loss for acting community. We will miss Ray greatly 🌟 you are One With the Force.
I feel just as I was getting to know him as an actor he was gone. Very sad. I hope those that were close to him find solace in that he at least was very happy and grateful for all he had accomplished. And the way he lived.
The definition of an all around great actor and person
Sad to hear his passing. Loved his work with Kevin McKidd in the series "Rome".
His role as blackbeard was so amazing
RIP Ray! You gave us all your best and we appreciate it more than words can say.
A very sad day. Ray you will be missed so much. I loved you in Thor the movie. You had your character as Volstagg down perfectly. Will miss you Sir.
A great actor. If you are a fan and have not seen it look for 'Outpost' it is a great film.
For our friend, Ray. A true man of talent, and outstanding performance.
One of my favorites.. Great, Great Actor.. He will be super missed..
Even if he only ever played Titus Pullo, that would have been enough. I fucking love this guy. Huge loss.
Thanks Meg! May The Force Be With Ray..Always
How can you ignore his brilliant performance in Indian Epic Blockbuster RRR 😮
Thank you Looper for this tribute ❤ Ray Stevenson ❤ a Roman, Asgardian, a Jedi.
This was a lovely tribute to him. Dear Ray, you were taken too soon x.
I really liked the fella in everything I ever saw him in..........another one gone way too soon!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
A tremendous actor. I first saw him in Rome. He carried such gravitas - his characters boomed even when whispering. He would have been the perfect Judge Dredd
I will miss him so much as he was a truly gifted actor and a genuinely nice person. May he rest in peace.
Wow just came across this video. I had no idea he passed. Great actor. Condolences to his family and may he RIH. 😢
