Back then , we used to adjust the MAp sensor , Just make sure the engine temp is right / ignition timing , cam timing , now with an exhaust analyser at 2500 rpm , or you could set the injectors MS time opening .Most of those older cars where running too rich .The only issue with leaning the car , you ended up with a difficult HOT start , due to the coolant heating up , and causing an over lean condition . So 3.5 % was about right . Not great for gas mileage .

Hi Pierre, i have 1972 SL350 with D Jet. My car is running perfectly at high speed. Nevertheless, when it not properly warmed up, it shows hiccup while changing from high to lower gear. It has auto transmission so i guess it jerks from 2 nd to 3rd gear. After engine get warmed the jerk get easier and not much vibration at rear axel. I am in puzzled
if this is from insufficient gas or leak vacuum line.
    Please kindly advice

Some used car dealers would buy a 4.5 , and swap the rear end to a 280sl , great for the 280 sl , but terrible for the 4.5 .

Hi Pierre. I bought W108 280SEL 4.5. I have a tragic fuel economy. It turned out that the previous owner changed the differential to one with the ratio of 4.08 - thans a lot! ;)

    Hi Pierre!
I have a 95 W124 Mercedes E200 with the 2.0l M111 engine. The car misfires on cylinder 2 & 3 and I think it is the ignition module. I have 0 knowledge on how to use a multimeter and to exactly diagnose if it is the ignition module to be 100% sure. How do I solve this problem?
