That’s why I love street pass so much. It’s able to function independently from the Nintendo’s servers. Even when you are no longer able to buy the games but other than that, your good.
I wish they would since they could, make a switch that plays ds/3ds cartridges. Eshop drag and drop. Turn it portrait mode like the switch advertised it as a feature. I hate that the switch is touch screen and nothing takes advantage of it. They could still do it. 3ds is perfect. They did it with GameCube and wii, wii and wii u, gb and gba, gba and ds, 3ds and ds. I wish the way they have an adapter so you can use a hardwired GameCube controller on switch, and the way they have those exclusive for use of switch online nes, snes, n64, Genesis controllers, I wish they would have adapters for wii motion bars and wii motes, and they could be greedy and sell new ones too. Then digitally drag and drop the whole wii, wii u, dsi, 3ds library. It can be done with so little effort. They can even be greedy and make it the whole library only available through switch online.
I actually just went to Disney last night and was devastated to not see the green light at the end of the day... Even just 5 years ago, you'd get so many Streetpass tags that your line would fill up, and you'd have to check it multiple times a day to reset the queue! I have so many different countries all over the globe logged in my plaza from Disney back then!
Love to see that street pass is still somewhat alive in 2022. I always bring my 3ds in case of a streetpass hit. Havent gotten one in a while tho; even when i went to NYC last summer. BUT I am going to be traveling to Europe in around a month so we’ll see if that gets us anything LOL

In my neighborhood there's still two people who I get street passes on. I still play with my 3ds here and there and it's usually in the charging dock. Miss the streetpass days.
What’s nice is that this feature can never die if the people who utilize it never stops using it. Even 30 years from now if everyone carried their 3DS they would still be able to street pass

I bring my 3DS everywhere. If you bring your 3DS to gaming/anime conventions your almost guaranteed to get like 5 hits. It's still so exciting to see the little green light blinking :)
I bought a 2dsxl last year and still use it very consistently and got some attention at school for it. My friends started bringing their own and we played Pokémon and stuff. A couple months later I got 2 street passes from two people I didn’t know at my school and it was pretty cool. Super nostalgic as well.
I used to carry my 3Ds in school. But the battery is going out. I can't even play for half an hour without the battery dying. I also have my Switch & Switch lite
I stayed in a hotel in North Carolina and got street pass from the same people. Street pass makes me so happy to see other people playing the system I grew up on. I think it’s sad a waiter a Buffalo Wild Wings got excited when he saw my ds, it’s just my childhood.
I used to get them all the time up until 2018 or so. Helped that I was going to uni and the bus on the way back home passed by a highschool. I also still have a lot of the older Nintendo ones for Reggie and Iwata.
i remember when i used to go on flights every summer when i was little to visit my dad, and i would get at least 5 streetpass thingies in the airport and on the plane combined. i was so happy when i got all the states

I ALWAYS have mine on and try my best to get that green light. The switch truly messed up by not adding this feature. The street pass gave you reasons to bring it with you at all times back in the day aside from obviously playing handheld video games. Meeting people from different regions and country’s and doing the puzzles were some of my fav features. People talk about “web browsers” but F THAT lol I’d rather have a street pass.

I got one a month ago when I had my 3ds in my pocket at school. I took it out in geometry cause I had finished the work and had nothing to do. Saw the green light on streetpass and was shocked. I hadnt gotten someone on streetpass in so long. It felt super good.
I took my 3DS to AnimeBoston 2022 and got a dozen StreetPasses. When I went there some years ago though, when hanging out in the halls between going to things, 10 new ones would accumulate in less time than it took to play through Find Mii and Puzzle Swap with the previous 10.

People keep saying they want Street pass on the switch but you can't really carry the switch around. The 3DS you can just slip that in a pocket and you're good to go no worrying about damaging the thumb sticks here.

I went on a road trip from the UK to Austria in 2017, i managed to rack up about 130 street passes from the ferry ride alone 😅

People should definitely make sure to bring their 2DS, 3DS with them, as well as shake them or walk with them to get play coins too
