Thanks for this video!! You make the job look relatively easy, and it turns out to be even easier when you start turning screws. The toughest part (for me) was getting the mirror clips to let go and pull off the motor / plate. Me: "Please don't break, please don't break... there has to be something I need to unlatch... please don't break..." And then it finally came free (without breaking). Again, THANKS!! I was so bummed to come out to the parking lot at work and see the cracked one on my new (to me) car, but this was such an easy fix. I bet the dealership would have charged $300 or more to fix this. I even replaced my part with a NIB OEM blinker I picked up for $40 on eBay.
Very happy to hear this helped you, thanks for stopping by and sharing your experience. Clearly easy enough to do yourself without paying a small fortune to get it done for you.
I busted the exact same today on my CLS 350, my despair has been assuaged watching your vid'. Now all I have to do is buy the new unit. Many thanks Andy.
Thanks for the video. My wife just got a CLS and wait to put led light into the courtesy light at the bottom of the mirror. And your video shows that I have to take the mirror out to do this. Fortunately, the assembly looks almost identical to the older C280 that we had. The hardest part is that little clip at the top of the mirror took me forever to figure out how to do that one time.
@@AndyMahnFL411 like I said my original one I don’t really done one on a C280 several years ago and it’s almost identical. But a very good information video for everybody else that helped a lot. If you get any information on how to turn the chart back on the key fob I’ll be all ears on that one. Apparently I screwed that up today by resetting all my factory settings on my dash.
Helped me save a few bucks buddyman Thank you so much for the detailed and clear video I did it for my own w221 S-Class, and similar to you, mine was nicked by a stupid guy opening his door in the middle of the road
LMAO!!!! u do realise that there is a clip to remove the entire housing without removing the motor or mirror glass itself right? save yourself the hassle and don't follow these retarded instructions
Many thanks, Andy! Just did mine. A hint for others: when pulling the housing aside in the final step, be very careful, the top left plastic cilinder housing the screw, attaching the rim of the mirror to the housing can break down easily. The other 2 screws hold the rim perrfectly, so not a big issue, but fishing out the broken plastic is an adventure :)
AndyMahnFL411 agreed! Here in the UK, I've downloaded an app called Carly for Mercedes and use an Elm327 Bluetooth adaptor to scan the car, so far, it's reported on faults the same as STAR, at a fraction of the cost. It's really helped me, if you can get the app where you are, I'd recommend it. Hope this helps in future :)
Good video I see you live in Miami I live in fort Lauderdale I own a CL550 2007 everyone who owns this style of car should get together and talk about what we've had to fix .
Too funny, in fact, I'm just leaving a meeting in Fort Lauderdale that I had this morning. It's a great car, but at 10 years or so, you start to see the wear out of certain items, I've had the air shocks replaced, the window regulators, the blower fan, you know the story.
The car featured in this video is a first generation CLS which is a w219. I would imagine that the approach is similar for the S-class, but I would certainly research in advance. I cannot say with certainty.
Andy, Can you tell me where you purchased this turn signal assembly from? I have a 2008 Mercedes Benz E350, same thing happened to me with a neighbors garbage can.
Mad GT this may help for your year and model, but I have found in my research that there are many nuances among the different years and models. Good luck.
Mad GT awesome, so glad this helped you out to get the desired goal and get your signal assembly swapped out. Thanks for coming back and letting me know, best of luck to you.

Thanks for sharing exactly the same procedure on the 2009 S550..
Good to know it works on your model as well!
So also c216
Today I changed it. Very easy with your video !!! Thanks from 🇪🇦
Cheers, congratulations, and very happy to have helped you!

Glad it helped you! In my case, I was the stupid guy, and drove too close to a recycling bin that was left partway out on the road. 😅
Thank you so much! I have 2006 CLS500 and I just replaced mines on the right side.
Nice, the project always feels better when done by oneself, provided the results come out as expected.
@@AndyMahnFL411 Believe it or not, I was quoted $432.00 for it....SMH!!!

Awesome, Csaszi! Appreciate the additional tip!
Thanks, this helped me to replace mine today.
Tony P, I'm glad to help you out, when I was looking up how to do it, I found videos for every year but the exact year I needed.
AndyMahnFL411 me too, I have a W216 CL500 but parts of it are very similar to the W221/CLS. Takes some creative searching! Thanks again :)
Tony P sure thing, doing it yourself, properly, sure beats getting gouged

Thank you sir, exactly the same on a 2005 CLS500

I have to do the same job on my pre -facelift w221. The progress is absolutely the same??? thanks

Excellent - it may not be the most elegant approach, but glad to hear it helped you!
Bedankt voor je video!
Heel graag gedaan!
Is there any sequential led light i can use for the mirrors? Anyone have an answer? 😅
Really good
Andy,
Can you tell me where you purchased this turn signal assembly from? I have a 2008 Mercedes Benz E350, same thing happened to me with a neighbors garbage can.
Hi Brian, I had to search my e-mails and I believe I found the source that I used - www.carpartsdiscount.com.
AndyMahnFL411, thank you! I appreciate your feedback. Great video... thanks again.
@@brianhullett1482 good luck, I hope you are able to locate the part. The repair is relatively straightforward and simple enough.
Yes lads where i can bay that part ??
I believe I located the part here: www.carpartsdiscount.com.
Thank you
I've just snapped the pins off the indicator block connector, aaarrrgh!! It's too thin to solder, so an entire new wing mirror assembly is needed.
david hurst oh man, sorry to hear that, it is a little bit of a delicate assembly there and requires a light touch.
you could of just popped of the bezel around the mirror...
Do u think this will be the same for my 2008 S550? I hit another car mirror

Where did you buy the aftermarket replacement? Hope you're still active on this account lol
Dcookies100, I located the part online, I believe it was a dealer out of Denver, Colorado. I can certainly check and follow up with specifics.

thank you!!
Frederick McNabb, you're very welcome, it's a simple repair.
No need to do it like that. Just slide the outer casing off. I did mine not so long ago
