- Winter maintenance and styling of the Sloe/Prunus spinosa yamadori bonsai I collected from the wild in 2009. My lovely dog damaged deadwood, so I'm trying to do the restoration of the available remaining parts.

Your philosophy and design ideas are as amazing as this tree. Thank you for sharing your process. It was an excellent video loaded with many inspirational concepts. I especially love the little tuff of growth at the base. Great work!!!
Hi. I'm glad you like my work and approach. I hope you will find other videos as interesting as this none. Greetings 👍
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experiences with this amazing tree. I look forward to looking through your other videos and blogs!
Thank you so much!
the freezing spray technique is very innovative, the results are impressive!
Thank you! We want to speed up aging process as much as possible. Same like cosmetics for women, just in other direction.
Veľmi pekný a jedinečný strom.
Ďakujem Jano. Prajem pekné Vianoce tebe aj rodine.
nice plum
Thanks
Love this tree. I have the same experiences with sloe yamadories, as you have. Straight trunks, poor nebari, big parts of the trunk die. But when I see the flowers in spring, I just have to think about getting another one in my collection :)
Rasťo, you are right, we are doing it for the flowers. Thanks and Marry Christmas to you and your family. Greetings
Once it has rotted too far, Air layer as low down as possible, even if its one large branch so as to save the essence of the the tree. Beautiful work!!
Thanks. What are you suggesting is actually the most probable scenario for the future of the tree. Greetings
Pekná práca Maroško
Ďakujem Marián 👍

@@mariansimkovic4245 ďakujem za tip. Vyskúšam. 👍
Great video, I would love to get some seeds from you.
Thanks for your interest Kevin, write me your address on my email maros.bonsai(at)gmail.com
I came into this hobby when i was going through bad times. I started growing everything from seeds and found happiness in those tiny new births. Now i have made this goal to grow as much as variety of trees from seeds and keep adding into my collection. This is beautiful.❤ Can i request some seeds please.
Hi Mohsin. Seed left today, I hope they reach you soon. Write me a comment here when you receive them. Enjoy your weekend.
@@marosbonsai thank you so much Maros ❤️❤️❤️. I'll let you know as soon as I get it. Speechless !! Thanks once again.
Hi Maros, I just got the seeds and it's in very good condition. Thank you. Couldn't believe the seeds on the tree you are showing in this video are now in my hands here. Couldn't ask for more. Thank you so much.❤
@@emmkay Hi mate. I'm glad it arrived halfway around the world. You have to properly clean all fruit from it so only clean stone stays. Fruit contains substances inhibiting the germination process. I hope you will succeed and some flowers in the future will brighten your days.
Greetings
@@marosbonsai thank you. Yes I am cleaning and keeping it for a day to dry. And will put some to germinate. Hopefully someday I'll put a video of grown plant on my channel and share with you too.
I love your studio, Maroš. Lot of work you have done there but it looks really great. Prunus mume looks great with a deadwood so why not the sloe? Paraloid or solakryl are synthetic organic resins that are used by renovators to solidify decayed wood. It turns it into sort of plastic though. So one have to make a decision how to deal with the decay of the deadwood. Dieback - I wonder if this could to avoided by sweating? We should tickle Mr T. Never tried it - just a thought. I try to get home as many roots as possible regardless how long they are and cut them short over a span of years... But very often I do fail. More than 60% of my Prunuses ( mahaleb or a sloe ) have a line of a deadwood on the trunk. Lovely harvest. I really enjoy the way you make your video. You are not TEACHING as many other guys but educating in very pleasant form. Looking forward to next one...
Thanks for your comments and ideas. Thanks for confirming my assessment about prunus susceptibility to dieback. I will examine different possibilities of wood preservation in the future for sure. I'm glad you like the style of the videos so far. All the best to you in 2024.
Spettacolo 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks
Wonderful looking tree, and I see a lot of patience . Maybe a small amound of carving(hollowing) the center out
Look first, if you think it will improve the looks, go for it. Best of luck....
Thanks for your kind words 👍
beautiful prunus. thanks for this nice video. harry harrington, uses second glue. for preserving deadwood on its disidious trees. maybe you can take a look at the technique in his article about it on his website. you may already be familiar with this technique.
Thanks for your compliments. Yes, I know about glue technique, I will have to experiment and find a good solution. Greetings
That’s been developed so nicely. I love the structure you have achieved. Have you tried Harry’s superglue preserving? I am using it more and more. I dislike the glassiness it gives initially but it hardens the deadwood incredibly well.
Thank You Richard for your kind words.
Im not sure if I heard about the method you are referring to. If it is available online, it would be nice if you could share the link here.
What I did actually, I used wood Hardener purchased from Walter Pall. I heard about other methods based on products for antique furniture preserving.
Thanks again, and Marry Christmas

In the video excerpt, you showed that you heated deadwood wrapped in foil and a damp cloth with a torch, and then applied a freezer. For what purpose was this done? I have seen the reverse process where the deadwood was fired after being frozen.
Hi Yaroslav. It was a long time ago, so it is hard to remember precisely what my reasoning was at that point in time.
But, I think I wanted to get as much water into the deadwood as possible. Retrospectively, I think just wet cloth and wrapped in foil for a few days made wood soke enough. Hope it helps.
Hi Maros, been watching all your videos after stumbling upon your channel. Love this unique tree and would like to purchase some seeds from you. I am located in Switzerland. Perhaps I will email you! Thanks and I enjoyed this video with you working on this large tree.
Thanks, Ian. I'm glad you like the channel and find my content interesting. Got your email. I will send you seeds, no problem. 😉👍
