I LOVED my 2001 six-speed Miata. It was slow-ish, 2nd slowest car I've ever owned, but man, it was right up there with my CRX Si back in the day as far as being fun! I bought it for my wife to learn how to drive a manual, she learned, then she felt "unsafe" in it because it's so small, so I took it over. Unfortunately, it sat in the garage a lot as we both needed more car for day to day stuff, and the Miata was a 5th car. I sold it after it sat for nearly 4 years at our Az home in 2023 with only 72,000 on the clock. It went to an enthusiast who knew every nut and bolt and he didn't flinch at our price. I've kept in contact with him, and he loves it.

I was never going to max out the speed on the motorcycle and street driving the MX-5 is a joy. No-one at my local track looks down on my Miata. I'm surrounded by guys who:
      - Turbo'd a Miata without upgrading the brakes or tyres and went straight into the gravel trap
      - Juiced 500hp out of a GTI but gets fuel starvation going up the hill
      - Modified an already powerful 6cyl car and now can't complete three laps without overheating NOR drive it on the street any more
      - Has to alternate hot laps and cooldown laps in his modified Evo

I had a 2020 Miata previously that I sold in 2022 to buy a '22 Camaro 2SS 1LE, as I'd never had a V8 and wanted to get one before regulations got rid of them forever. I really loved it, but I found myself missing the lightweight nature of the Miata. Was deciding between a GR86/BRZ and another Miata and ended up going back to the Miata this year. I don't need any practicality (my wife and I have 3 other cars), and just wanted something purely fun to drive. Placed an order back in January and picked up a '24 MX-5 Club soft top back in May. I got other cars later but ended up keeping that car for 12 years and never had anything major go wrong, I think I only replaced the top (eventually) and a power window switch. Granted, I lived in California at that time (I now live in the Midwest so winters are an issue) and the road wasn't full of oversized SUVs driven by people on their cell phones. I used that car for everything for about 3 years and smiled every mile. I keep thinking that if I ever retire or live in a warmer climate, I'll use one as a daily again.
