Legendary pokemon like the Tower Duo, Weather Trio, Creation pokemon, the Tao, The Aura, The Light Trio and the Sword and Shiled of Galar I consider legendary because Gen 2 actually decided to give proper legends and myths around those pokemon. Gen 1 has no myth around the birds their dex entries seems to say to be just very powerful bird pokemon.
Yeah pretty much. It's funny they were a big deal back then but Ho-oh and Lugia onward it's like they might as well just be regular birds. Like there's not much keeping me from thinking Talonflame is more of a legendary bird than Moltres if I was a newcomer to the series at this point lol

Remember how important, strong and majestic they felt in Pokemon 2000? their clash felt like it was causing worldwide devastation it was like the Groudon & Kyoger clash before the Groudon and Kyoger clash. now its like yeah Moltres is just a little stronger and rarer than a Pidgeot

Goh did in fact catch Suicune, he just lets it roam the world out of it's Pokéball, it's still registered under his ownership, which is pretty handy cause it means noone else can catch it.
Which means Ash could've just let Greninja be a protector and not release it, just like how his other "in-training" Pokemon were...was he in contract with Zygarde that he has to be released, hehe.
Imagine a person find said Suicune, weakens it, and tries to catch it

Red is his own character outside of player control. In canon, Hilda/Hilbert just disappear with N after BW

Max had temporary control of a Jirachi. Let that sink in. A child, had control of a wish granting god. Though I guess Jirachi is a mythical, and thus does not make the list.
Hey, Max was more responsible with his wishes than the adult in the room. It's hard to destroy the planet by wishing for candy.
Technically speaking mythicals are just _special_ legendaries. They're all just event legendaries if we're looking at in-game bases that is.
Mythicals did have their own spot on the list, though

I feel like people treat them as lesser than legendaries for some reason and that doesn't make sense. 1) They're rarer than legends, 2) they weren't even considered legends outside of Japan until Gen 5 and now apparently it's all different now and 3) two of the mythicals are literal god and the ancestor to all Pokemon. It really should not matter that much if I call Darkrai a legendary and it bothers me how people just think lesser of them. They are both groups of super powerful Pokemon with lore behind them. It doesn't matter.

How has Goh caught Suicune though? New trainer, no gym badges or serious battles, league experience...He has basically defied pokemon logic and outstaged 90% of Ash and Pikachu's entire journey... As a fan from the very first episode I find it saddening personally lol
Goh never kept Eternatus, and him using one Pokeball on it is a reference to the Sword and Shield games where it's a guaranteed catch no matter what you use. Also Calem/Serena were forced to catch Xerneas/Yveltal to continue the story
That's true but he's talking about those in the ANIME that caught legendaries/mythicals. Not those in the games.

Goh didn't keep Eternatus but he never released it. The pokeball is stored somewhere he has no access to, but Eternatus is still his own pokemon registered under him.
It’s implied in the Japanese opening of DP that Tobias also had an Entei. It’s in a brief sequence with Darkrai and Latios, followed by Entei.

There's a Lucario that appears in that same part of the OP, so it's possible that Lucario also belonged to Tobias
than how tobia is not a pokemon champion in that galar region with his full legendary team that makes no sense

@@josuegarro5437 Yes, however Ash still probably would've lost. Tobias spammed Dark Void and did a number on Ash's team, then his Latios was barely finished off by Ash's last pokemon. Even if 1 or 2 of Ash's Pokemon were able to fight, he'd still have another legendary in Entei and the scary part is who knows what else after those 3 as well.

Legendaries: They´re literal forces of nature that helped to shape the world and/or heroes for humanity/pokemon/ the entire region.
Mythical pokemon: They are not legendaties. They're really powerful pokemon with unique abilities that are so uncommon to be seen that people in the pokemon world even doubts of their existence to some extend. Usually considered almost like minor deities for specific towns and cities in the past. Their primary trait is that they're literal representations of certain myths from the real world (like muses, aliens, time travelers, etc).
Ultra beast: They´re basically pokemon from another dimension. Not legendaries. The share a lot of traits with legendaries (like being genderless, having scripted encounters and being part of the undiscovered group, etc) but this is due to their whole concept as extra dimensional unidentified creatures.
Imagine like seeing Buzzwole and Pheromosa as early route bugs final evolutions in the Ultra Space world. Since Poipole is seen as a starter Pokemon

@@Nosretep The kartanas from the kartenvoys don´t come out of pokeballs, so they don´t actually own them. As far as I can tell they´re basically humans from Ultra megalopolis that just like the members from the ultra recon squad that appear in the games keep watch of the ultrabeast (in this case, Kartana) and since they practice kendo, decided to train with Kartana because of that. But they´re not native to Kartana´s world.
So is Naganadel the pseudo legendary of the ultra dimension?

@@dappershinx9234 I think that was originally the case, but was eventually retconned. In the Anime, there a few instances of there being more one of a certain legendary(There was an arc that showed two Lugias, one of which was a baby, and the Shiny Suicune that was shown in the Zoroark movie was a different one than the non-Shiny Suicune shown in the Celebi movie). In the games, there’s multiple Silvallys, and due to alternate dimensions being confirmed, it’s safe to assume there’s now a limitless amount of legendaries in other worlds.
Not even a mention of Lawrence III from Pokemon the Movie 2000? He's the guy who went around capturing the legendary birds to bait out Lugia. Sure, he didn't catch them with pokeballs, but he did at least catch them, which should be worth some honorable mention. I'll never forget how crazy that movie was back then, seeing a character catching the legendary birds like it was just a Monday.

There's a tournament in B2/W2's PWT that allows you to fight with Legendary Pokémon.
In that tournament, the trainers I've mentioned before have Mewtwo, Lugia, Rayquaza and Giratina respectively.
There's also a Veteran in Black City that has the Legendary Dogs.
Why does everyone forget about the battle subway, I remember a subway boss either Ingo or Emmet sending out a Cobalion against me.

Mallow partnered with a Shaymin for a good chunk of the SM series and while mostly just traveled with her, she did battle with it in the parliamentary round of the league.

Also suicune is suppose to be a free spirit, not some Pokémon who likes to be owned, it kind of defeats the mystical aura he is suppose to have as he is suppose to be extremely hard to even see, let alone be capture by hunters

If we talk about commanding legendaries:
Ash, Dawn and Brock did command Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie in the Diamond and Pearl Anime in the final showdown episodes with Cyrus and Team Galactic.

Just an FYI, trainers in the Battle Royal Dome in USUM will also have legendary Pokémon if you’re fighting in the Master challenge
And also there’s the Battle Tree. I’m not so sure about this one since I haven’t seen it myself (tho I have with the Battle Royal), but I’m almost certain specific trainers get legendaries if you go high enough
If we're counting Japan-only stuff, there's a Japanese exclusive section of the Pokemon World Tournament where Sabrina uses a Mewtwo, Fantina uses a Giratina and Falkner uses a Lugia

Loving your videos! Wondering if you can answer this question because so far no one else made the video yet and idk if anyone posted it somewhere, but how many pokemon trainers have starter pokemons, not including Ash and his friends.
Ooh have you made that manga follow up yet? Gotta include Diamond and Pearl Adventure in it! The main character gets one, but there's someone with THREE of them and it's not who you would think it would be.
Side games would be interesting to cover as well since there's a fair bit there. Including some odd situations as well (the whole concept of Ranger begs the question of what defines a capture).

Considering it showed Ash and Pikachu battling an Entei in one of the intros I always assumed that Tobias's third team member was Entei and had Ash been able to knock out latios without Pikachu also falling I thought that would the next battle.

I think Zekrom suits more with N, cause he *wishes* to change the world, while Reshiram suits more for Hilbert (and Hilda) because they "defend the reality"
That's also very good portrayed in the manga, so maybe I'm a little biased cause the Black/White-Arc is my favourite Arc
Despite the differences, I consider Mythicals & Ultra Beasts in par with Legendaries due to their rarity
Ash may not legit caught Solgaleo (“Nebby”)🧠, BUT he did raise it as his own and as part of his Alolan family making it a Legendary he’s very close to so I personally put it alongside Naganadel☠️ & Melmetal⚔️ regardless😊

Well, actually the difference is if you were able to obtain it in its first appearance game under normal gameplay excluding special events.
If you can then it's legendary, if not then mythical.

@Lema Cat The first time this happen to Deoxys everyone though it was a one off thing, but now we have Celebi capturable in Crystal VC, Keldeo can be found in the Crown Tundra, and we have static encounter data for Victini but no one has found it yet. So based on the rules are Celebi and Keldeo no longer mythical? What is the status of Victini then? Since you can't hunt shiny Keldeo is that still Mythical while the regular for is Legendary? I hear people saying that the lines between Legendary and Mythical are clean cuts but the more instances of these happenings will make it blurry and blurry.
Aren't Calem/Serena forced to capture Xerneas/Yveltal in XY? I remember the game not letting me progress until I caught it.

Why didn't Ghetsis have Kyurem in the Rainbow Rocket episode? I feel like Zekrom and Reshiram are much more closely associated with N and the player than with Ghetsis, and given the events of B2/W2, it would make a whole lot more sense for Ghetsis to use Kyurem. I guess they were trying to say that this Ghetsis won the first time around in his universe...
9:56 When you swap Pokemon in Multiplayer, the Pokemon you had out is *returned to its Pokeball, which means they do, in fact, catch them!*
In B/W (2) there are trainers in the forth city on the left side of the pokecenter. It’s some sort of training unit to see how many points you can get and elderly trainers can have every unbanned Pokémon.

In a downloadable Pokemon World tournament in B2/W2 there were some gym leaders with banned and even illegal legendary pokemon such as rayquaza and origin Gyratina without the orb

Ash needs to catch Ho-oh to complete the cycle from seeing it on his first day out to catching it or uses it and winning the WHOLE thing with it as his secret last Pokemon. Like Team Rocket Actually steal one of his MAIN Pokemon right before a battle the Pokemon end up getting away from them but cannot get back in time to enter the ring and when it looks like ASH is donzo Ho-Oh feather he had secretly found on his first day out Ash's True lucky charm that he's always had hidden on his person a necklace or charm in his poach or back pack starts to glow and Ho-Oh soars in from the sky next to Ash ready to battle to help Ash win Against another legendary Pokemon and final trainer whom seemed impossible before but now with Ho-Oh Ash has a chance.
I wouldn't worry about how "canon" Pokemon Masters is. With just the core series games we have multiple timelines where events can differ so any officially licensed Pokemon game can be considered canon just in it's own timeline. One of Aggron's Pokedex entries talks about how ancient warriors wore helmets that resembled it which could be a direct reference to a character from Pokemon Conquest. Red has Venusaur in the Adventures manga instead of Charizard even though in any anime he usually has Charizard and many people (myself included) consider the manga to be the best part of the franchise. Besides Pokemon Masters really expands the relationship between various characters that you would normally never see interact. Also Pokemon Masters essentially confirms that the opening fight of the Red & Blue games was between Oak & Agatha and I think that's cool enough to give it consideration.

I count mythical as legendary, just doesn’t make any sense why they would be differentiated
Same i don't even know when that term "Mythical" first popes up because as far as i know things like Mew, Celebi, Deoxys etc were all considered legendaries when i was a kid. the only difference i can even kind of see between the two was that Legendaries could be obtained for the most part in the main game where as mythical were only obtained through this like distribution events. but thats not even true anymore because in OR AS you could obtain Deoxyes in the Delta episode so is Deoxys a legendary now? who knows?! i just call them all legendary
For me, the different between mythical and legendary is that most people in pokemon see mythical as like urban legend that hasnt been confirm of existend but legendary has been seen by alot of people like the random heatran in the background, suicune and more

Mythicals are just used to define legendary Pokémon that are only obtainable through events, I have no idea why people don’t consider mythicals legendaries since that would mean Mew and Darkrai aren’t considered legendary when their counterparts (Mewtwo and Cresselia) are considered legendary
In the 3d Gamecube and Wii games trainers have legendary pokemon as well.

There have been dozens of trainers to use legendaries in the anime and ash doesn’t act surprised at all.
I’ll never forget the girl in the elite four with an Entei… or the gym leader with the regi trio and there’s also Tobias with darkrai
If you're talking about Caitlin, that Entei was Darach's. And Brandon is not a Gym Leader, but a Frontier Brain. And Ash is surprised by Legendaries.
If silvally is a legendary, then zoroark, volcorona, and lucario have to be counted as a legendary as well. Lucario and volcorona were just as special in there introductry gens as silvally , and zoroark has plot relevance like silvally. For that reason it is clear while it is as powerful as one, silvally is not a legendary pokemon
Sivally, wether you like it or not, is literally a legendary Pokémon. The Pokédex in games label Sivally as a sub-legendary Pokémon which includes common legendaries like Articuno, Entei, Latias, etc.
Silvally is a legendary for a similar reason for why Mewtwo is one. They were based on powerful mythical pokemon. Plus are strong in their own right.

All three Pokémon have a base stat total (BST) lower than 570 in their final evolutions and can breed. They are not Legendary Pokémon.
Silvally BST: 570

Sylvally is a legendary Pokémon.

In origins blue had caught 149 pokemon to reds 150 meaning he probably had the legendary birds. Tbf they never showed him with them but it's worth a mention

I don't mean to be rude, but in a previously downloadable Japanese and Korean only tournament for the PWT in Black 2/White 2 there are a few gym leaders that own legendary pokemon. Sabrina owns Mewtwo, Falkner owns Lugia, Winona owns Rayquaza and Fantina owns Giratina. I feel like Ghetsis should have owned Kyurem in USUM, it just makes way more sense because he never really came into contact with the other two dragons and I dont think either would have allied with him anyway
Its so common in the anime but very rare in the games for someone to command or catch a legendary. I’m thinking of in the main stories of the games, cus the rest feel like they simply have them for the sake of more difficult fights. Cus generally characters can’t just go out and find a legendary easily like you’d think they could if you looked at all the extras that have them.
