"You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness." is and always will be one of my all time favorite lyrics.
Fluffs The Dragon Agree
Fluffs The Dragon when Goyte sings it!!
Fluff i thought you were in my fridge xD

Right... the accuracy of that line...
I love that she isn't just singing the original melody to a jazzier track. She's actually made it fit the 'time period' of the song, unlike some of the others
I really like the mad world cover featuring puddles they both absolutely killed it
The band did actually
Her voice has cleared my skin fixed my sleep schedule and watered my crops
Crown Jules truly, honestly
yas bitch got my credit right and payed my bills.
Also there's a bit of lower-back pain I had when starting the vid that is now gone.... hm.
Cured my dyslexia, repaired my asthmatic lungs and normalized my arrhythmic heart. I also think she is the hope for world peace, y'all.
If her voice did all that to you I recommend you take a pregnancy test
her voice fixed my grades, my debt, cleared my skin, purified my soul, cured my depression and my anxiety
The lyrics gave them, her voice took them away
If only things were so simple eh? Keep fighting, friend.
lamooo so accurate
Her voice gave me a disease and an infection couldn't even get halfway through it
Get stuffed
I'm in love with this pronunciation and low deep voice
Неуместная Мышь I.
When she started singing did anyone else get a jolt of goosebumps????
Yes, because she sings flat
@@elenikiroy than you don't get the meaning of "flat"...
@@danielr3738 I think they mean flat as in the musical symbol? Like she used more flat notes than the normal ones (I forgot the proper term, haven't revise my music theory in ages) and flat notes are so rarely used in this frequency in a full song so it gives a new sensation.
@@iromosushi6291 minor notes?
@@elenikiroy I have a pretty good ear for flat singing, and I’m pretty sure she isn’t flat. I think it may be her style, and it just seems like she’s singing flat, when in reality she’s just using a jazzy style.
This is one of those sophisticated, original PMJ videos. I absolutely love it.
Zuzanna Witt what's not original from them?
S3RENITY I simply meant that I felt sometimes that previous covers are different, without a specific plan for them, maybe like made for only for the audience, to check another Thursday. I haven't heard here anything like this before.
Zuzanna Witt I agree! I really prefer the covers that don't sound exactly like the song's tune with just a bandstand playing it. This is one of them.
true
Cold grey eyes met bright blue ones amidst a sea of strangers. A lifetime ago, he would’ve run to her without hesitation, a smile on his face and a greeting on his tongue. But this time, he would only turn away as if he’d never seen her.
“Isn’t she your lover?” The girl at his side asked.
“No. She’s just somebody I used to know.” He replied.
And the two parted ways for the last time, as strangers, just as they had been when they first met.

now i can't NOT look at him
Just realized - I spent 1/2 the video watching HIM. Oy. Oh, well, planned to Replay anyway. ^_^
Shrug. I don't get it
I now have a 40’s jazz style, and an 80’s pop version of a song that perfectly encapsulates how I felt when my ex broke up with me. I guess I AM addicted to a certain kind of sadness.
here, have 5 versions of them ruclips.net/p/PLxApVDbSAS3hfLRLmfjrqwtkKTt8oKsy0
@@GwakGwak-ct8yv Missing the ten years later version by the Basics - Gotye's band that he never left and still performs with.
But you probably already knew that, being a disciple of the guardian of time itself, right?
@@blackjacktrial as a matter of fact, i was sent by the time lord herself to retrieve the acoustic version but unfortunately the ground pound gremlin jeopardized my mission by threatening to screw my mom 10 times over the soundwaves so i had to bail.
kronii couldn't let it slide tho so she made me work on her tree farm.
@thattrickytrickster612 hi am here to know more about your profile picture. did that guy shit on tables as a stress response by any chance
A great arrangement. super soulful voice. strong vibrant claps!

Omg i love ur reactions
The second I heard her voice i fell in love. The depth and tone she had is astounding. This is what we need nowadays, especially after we forgot the virtues of what music is. Keep blessing people with these wonderful pieces
The dame's eyes glanced over the framed photo on my desk. "You know her?" she asked.
I lit up a cigarette, and took a long draw, letting the smoke curl up to the slowly turning ceiling fan.
"I used to."
i love this
well done
PostmodernJukebox Thank you so much.
Where s that from ?
*slow claps*
The drops of rain fell to the floor of the night club as I entered. The place was called "The Lonley Sailor," and looked like any other place where the lowest of the low would be. So naturally, I got right in.
I suppose the dim lights and the cigar snoke were to convince all the drug dealers and murders that they were somehow hidden from God, but then again, I don't think the big man would appreciated my past.
My lead was telling me that I could find some dirt on my suspect by asking some questions to his lady friend who sang at this fine establishment, one Miss Hannah Gill.
He warned me about Miss Gill. He told me that she carried a small pistol in her purse, but what was more dangerous was her sharp tounge. She could have you yelling for info one second and then handing over the dead to your home the next.
He warned me that she had some unfavorable connections. People she had owed were always after anyone who did so much as look in her direction.
Lastly, he warned me. Under no circumstances could I fall in love with her.
But after sitting down at the bar, getting the smoke from the lungs of the bartender out of my face and ordering a stiff drink, I realized something that my lead hadn't warned me about her.
Her voice. If it wasn't for the undeniable fact that she was right there, I woulda swore an angel had appeared in the bar and was working for tips as a singer.
I knew the words she was singing must have had some meaning, but all I could hear was the range she had on her. Every high and low drew me closer and closer.
I'm afraid I'd have to tell my lead I disobeyed his advice.
same. more.

I like where this was going. Only three things..... Lonely. Smoke. Tongue. You have a great imagination and writing style! Just make sure you spellcheck if you make a career of your writing.
DamnItNanet MUA that’s what editors are for 😉
this song feels like it was made for this
not really
Melanie Anne Ahern i agree
Melanie Anne Ahern some songs get an improvement in the hands of PMJ
I totally agree, but now is not the case.
I don't think it's improved from the original, but this style definitely brings something out in the song that's very special.
9 years ago this song was everywhere. Now Gotye is just somebody that we used to know.
Have you been online recently my freind?
remember Gotye ? now he is just somebody that we used to know
I 'member that
Charis Koulousis Great artist, beautiful, thats a shame that he's known only for this song. Simply underrated
beautiful voice*
Only known for this song?? Perhaps to you. I hear multiple of his songs on the radio. Heart's A Mess? Eyes Wide Open? I Feel Better? .... I'm quite fond of "Bronte" but you don't hear that much
GreenGlassScarab the irony is that this song used to be my favourite one but i had never had the curiosity of checking more songs of him
it feels weird because most 40's songs had an upbeat feel to combat the war tensions and to hear some of the more negative words and more sad beat felt odd based on the time period....
There is truth in that, but the generation that went though the second world war also survived the Great Depression and Prohibition. Those were really tough times, and America (even the world) was forever changed. Heck, there are historical analysts who pointed out how America was unprepared to fight the Axis Powers. There are a host of other examples: the Dust Bowl, poverty, diseases, etc. So, these melancholy words shows another side to the times.
This is definitely inspired by Benny Goodman’s “Why Don’t You Do Right”
This is more of a Noir, night club song. Fits right into that theme.
Agreed, I think the cheery performance is a bit off-putting.
Definitely not true. This is a "torch" style song. They were very popular back in the 30s/40s.
Where do you always get those awesome musicians from? Every video lately has another talented singer and/or great instrumentalists. Insane.
If the world maintains a balance, then there must be a ZILLION talent-less people out there, to offset ... the PMJ ensemble!
Have you listened to most of the modern music? That is where your talent-less people are.
Thank you Alex ... now it all makes perfect sense. LOL
there are hundreds of real musicians just in your country, is not that difficult to find them when you appreciate art.
Yeah! We gotta go out and experience live music (not just by listening or watching promotional music videos). But this was purt'near close!
Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember
You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end, always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well, you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad that it was over
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
No, you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
But had me believing it was always something that I'd done
But I don't wanna live that way, reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know
But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
No, you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Somebody, I used to know
Somebody, now you're just somebody that I used to know
Somebody, I used to know
Somebody, now you're just somebody that I used to know
I used to know
That I used to know
I used to know
Somebody
Thank youu
Hannah Gill was so perfect for this song - Please have her come back for more 😍
Love her voice and love this cover!!!💕💕
For a duo with Sara Niemetz
Thank you!
I was just about to say that! Such similar voices. So dang good.
This sounds like a detective series where the main character is being seduced in a bar while having memories of his deceased wife that wanted him not to get too involved in his job and seek divorce.
why did this reminded me of aaron hotchner from criminal minds omg-
What a performance! Hannah Gill's voice is almost addictive
Even more than a certain kind of sadness.
@@icantthinkofagoodname7992 underrated comment
too late. im addicted. if i don't hear, instant withdrawal. it's the pain, see [draws heavily on cigar...]
Yes, love her voice -- contralto, I think. Reminds me of Judy Garland.
I love this cover; it's almost like a different song because it's so nicely adjusted to the genre and time period. And Hannah Gill is my favourite vocalist.
Wow this is a classic. Right up there with the Creep cover.
Reese Marie my thoughts exactly
Reese Marie pp
가수 분 음색 진짜 감미롭다...이 딱 시작하는 부분부터 감전된것처럼 충격먹었음... 편곡도 여태까지 들었던 것 중 최고다ㅠㅠ
Just the perfect amount of finger snapping and bass plucking to make this masterpiece
she can literally scream at me and i'd thank her. i love her voice so much. 🥺
they should do Hit the Road Jack
Miguel Noya Vargas if you haven't seen it, check out Haley Reinhardt's and Casey Abrams' cover. They are both artists featured on PMJ and it's probably the best cover of Hit the Road Jack I have heard in my life period. I think the more informal one they film in front of an orange couch is the definitive version btw :)
I've juste seen "The house that jack built" and I totally agree with you.
Not PMJ but a cool remix
ruclips.net/video/MPmD6hFaomk/видео.html
Omg yes
Her voice is so clear and powerful. PMJ has the best singers! :)
just makes me smile so wide... so fresh and open vocals, classic horns and love those early drum sprinkles... you guys are awesome
god ,god god, Iam in love, always loved her, but the way she smiles, my god with that lower voice, so great thank you, keepin the faith for us jazzies, thank
Great job casting and putting it all together. Would love to see a behind the scenes video on the production and rehearsals and everything!
Yeaaass !! That would he awesome !!
Joe Holland Fishing, та ты шо? Не вже! Repet please...
Wooooowwwwww! Love her deep, vibrant tone and the jazzy remix. Still makes it upbeat for the rings as her rendition ends on the 'I got over you' tone.
P.S. Also love that she owns her model-like height, and gives Princess Diana, Leslie Caron, and Jane Russell vibes all at once! 😍
You said it!🤩
Wow. Hannah's got quite a voice.
Thank you!
Best of luck in your career Hannah! I've been listening to "Comes Love" and this song on repeat... lord help me.
Her voice is beautiful and perfect for the style of this cover. Also jazz makes this song sound 100x more shady and I love it.
I believe you've hypnotised me, Ms. Gill.
how she play with her voice... man i love it. She rly fixed me.
The fact that she's not standing in the middle of the carpet makes me want to cry
Also the mic is off centre.
You're welcome.
Léna Lockhart GODDAMNIT
Léna Lockhart Hurry, go get your fidget spinner!
I CANT UNSEE IT
Wow, and I thought I was bad ... thanks ;)
After 50 years of looking at the world tonight listening and admiring her performance along with the crew it’s a memory to remember dearly.
Wow, PMJ has such a deep bench when it comes to talent! Beautiful, soulful remake.
I swear just jazz everything and I'm bound to fall for it
Man, that opening 40 seconds is fantastic! So understated and powerful!
Hannah Gill is my favorite PMJ singer. She has this character and expressiveness that is just...different and very touching.
as soon as I heard the first words, I scrame. Amazing voice!!!! I can't get over her!!!
That melismatic line at 3:14 ... I felt that in my bones.
I was completely attractted by her performance. Her voice, her gestures, and the song itself. It was truly AMAZING!!!
Wow! 10/10
Hannah has done it for me!Scott's delicate notes first enter, the brass comes to the front, and her voice's tonality rises to a crescendo, creates a sophisticated scene.
Bravo!
Hannah may be one of my favorite singers y'all have ever had! Love this!
JemuzuDatsWho For shure, I think Hannah is one of best female jazz voices in this world
Hannah’s voice is silky suave perfection
Her voice is like super magical. Wow.
I just saw PMJ live at the Joy Theater in New Orleans and Hannah Gill is FREAKING AMAZING! 😍😍😍😍 I took my son and we were/still are astonished by her voice, her beauty, and her grace. What a lovely angel!
The melancholy genre is the best suited for PMJ. It grows to something bigger.
her voice is really something special, her movements are captivating. she's fkn magic
Hannah Gill is my fave of all the vocalists of PMJ... voice smooth as silk! Love this version Scott - you're a musical genius!
perfect.
Just like watching a movie.
Her expression, Her voice, the Performance of every musician there. PERFECT!
What a voice! What a voice! WHAT A VOICE!
I'm like sooòoo obsessed with this amazing singer!
Wow her voice is so different and beautiful. I could literally listen all day
The original is one of the few songs from the last 30 years I actually like. But this version is even better.
I'm glad you waited so long to do this one, when the memory of it being so overplayed is faded. It's a great song, and your arrangement is perfect, and Hannah sounds so lovely!
I just discovered Postmodern Jukebox and I think that these men and women's vocal are beyond beautiful. So graceful
Try to see them live. It's even better.
Her voice is GORGEOUS!!!
Hannah Gill sings with supreme confidence. Her affect is devastating!
hannah is so elegant and i love her voice
Her voice is so beautiful.
Amazing performance. The singer is especially great, I will be buying anything she is singing.
Ms Gill is as beautiful as her voice. Simply amazing all around.
Love her voice! Great stage presence too! 😍
We want to hear more from Hannah Gill. Bring her back for more, please! Her voice is just mesmerizing.
I nursed the drink, my limbs drooping as the lyrics sank into my skin.
Many young men around me were drinking alcohol like water and that bad habit reminded me of him. But he’s gone. Somebody that I used to know.
I love Hannah Gill‘s voice and I absolutely adored her EP with The Hours. She works perfectly with this song.
Thank you!!!!
This is going up there with my top favorite songs you guys and gals have done. Bravo
I love the way the drums are mic'd for this song.
Wow! Great music and voice. Your arrangements and the skill you have to match the voice to the music is what make all your songs great.
I demand that she sing more stuff for PMJ. I looooove her deeper voice. It's so wonderful!
I’ll continue what Anon E. Mousse wrote somewhere in the comments.
The dame tutted her lips, watching him take a draw of his cigarette.
“You do the same.”
He glanced up at her curiously, in which she trailed her fingertips along his desk to his couch, never sitting next to him.
“You remind me of somebody I used to know.”
Taking out her purse, she took a picture and slid it towards him.
“Tell me if you know them.”
I literally saw their comment right before yours haha
I listen to a lot of old music in this style. This is spot on and her voice is golden.
This reminds me so much of the first Bioshock game, absolutely gorgeous cover!! I heard that Scott Bradlee did some of the music for Bioshock Infinite, hopefully he’ll be in charge of the Bioshock 4 soundtrack too
the drummers smile makes me smile.
This makes me feel like I need to be wearing a long black trench coat finishing up a glass of scotch at my favorite dive bar and then putting on my hat, adjusting the coat against the weather, exiting the bar into the cold rain, and walking down the street while my own voice over informs the audience about my worries about solving this case before I get myself killed and how sad I am about the love of my life leaving me, all in black and white
Sometimes i can't put into words how perfect something is
Her voice is magic❤😭👌👏👏
The Refrain is so amazing!
This now has a special place in my heart.
A good memory
Watering my crops
The original starts playing
"You know this song?"
My brother asked
"I used to"
@Hannah's voice is so clear and dark in the same time! Her voice can fill an elephant's soul (LOL) how big it is!!! It's hypnotizing, I recently discovered this phenomenal tone of voice! Keep jazzing Girl!
Wow, a marriage made in heaven. also see Hannah's video named Austin. She kills it. So does her band.
Thank you!
We had our school ball last week and the theme was "A Night in New York" and for the first hour of the night they just played postmodern jukebox. Made listening to them ten times more enjoyable
Man...this is the best cover i've seen. That's magic
She is Entirely enchanting. Best featured artist yet.
Ooh, I adore the style and personality within this performance! Let's just say that Hannah Gill has a new fan.
My only quibble is that I feel like one of the appeals of the song is lost with it performed as a solo instead of a duet, since the interplay between the two characters feels less obvious. Nevertheless, it's a great listen!
CalvinballAKA
OMG that voice. That look. What an arrangement, what a performance. Wowser
I once hated this song. I still do, but this version of it changed how I view everything. Thank you PMJ
Holy... goosebumps from the first second to the end! Omg!
This Music Band Is Classic Including There Great Music & Videos!!
Socorro, eu não consigo parar de voltar para esse vídeo quase todos os dias, haha.
Vejo q tem bom gosto
♫♫♫ one of the better PMJ drummers over the years...it looks perhaps he is reading a chart which is the best way for a group to play a number like this....terrific
The lyrics are so much more impactful in this style.
Glad this style is coming back in a big way.
Unreal. Her singing and the music is too perfect.
nice video.. rất tuyệt vời
