I want to start off by saying I follow over a dozen reaction RUclipsrs and you are by far my favorite! I love your personality, enthusiasm, and overall energy.
But please don't feel afraid to react to something just because you have more videos to shoot afterwards. We're all here to see your reactions and true emotions to things :) If you're holding back, that's being disingenuous to us and to the show!

Thank you for the sweet comment! :) Unfortunately even if I wanted to continue a series - I need to sometimes take a more business approach with the channel since this is my full time career. Weighing out the cost/benefits of a series of commentaries is tough and sometimes I have to make the decision to not commit to a show for particular reasons. Though IF I COULD there are about 3 other shows I've done that I wish I could keep making commentaries for... T_T ~but alas~ Editing for countless hours a week for a video to make me a fraction of what the work is worth cannot be executed sigh..> THANK YOU for enjoying Arcane / my commentaries for them so that I could continue this as a series! It's become one of my favorites on this channel! I promise I'm not being fake or not genuine in how much I like or dislike a show I do on the channel - it's just the reality of what I can invest my time into for a series and as a young adult trying to make a living as well.
Thanks for reading and understanding ~ Much love, ANGE

    "Don't cry, you're perfect"
The validation Jinx always has wanted to hear her whole life. Silco wasn't the greatest "dad" but he gave her the one thing she ever wanted. He could have easily turned her in, in return for having his penultimate dream of Zaun. But he chose to protect her and instead, rather fight for Zaun than give anyone up on the lanes, especially Jinx.
Part of me feels like, because he sees himself in Jinx. Perhaps he didn't want to give her up as it would also be seen as him being submissive to Piltover. So by not giving her up is the same as his intentions to fight against Piltover. He is being independent of Piltover by not giving in to their demands (whereas Vander did give into their demands)
It's like what someone said in the many comments of Arcane content:
Vander would rather die for his cause whereas Silco fights for his.

I disagree with it being him not wanting to be submissive to Piltover. He just loves her. Yes you can argue his love for her being selfish because he's clearly attached to her due to his abandonment issues, but he was literally willing to give HIMSELF up, but not her. He just loves her and wouldn't let any harm come to her, including her getting arrested.

I love that you said, "This is a masterpiece on it's own." So many people have been saying, "I can't believe they would end this on a cliffhanger" particularly since Season 2 was already announced. Truthfully, this is a masterpiece on it's own. This is a perfect albeit atypical ending to everyone's story and it completely delivers on every note. I also love how throughout the show Jinx undergoes both a hero's and villain's journey to really leave it up to interpretation where she falls. Silco's status as villain is revealed to be an illusion in this episode. He has and always was a revolutionary making the hard choices to win his people's independence and at the very end he reveals the line he can't cross. Honestly, this show has so many different complexities and angles for every character that "Masterpiece" is the correct word. My greatest question is how can season 2 even come close to this?

I've never played the game, but this show made me look into it a bit. These characters and places seem to be only a fraction of those in the game. I see everyone assuming season 2 will follow these characters, but they could tell a different story in season 2. I actually hope they do, because I thought this last episode was about as flawless as I've seen in a season finale. It's astonishing to me that they have done such a great job fleshing out characters that seem to exist only to be perpetually at war in a video game. I have no interest in MOBAs, but if the lore has been written this good in the game, I can understand why it's so successful.

That entire dinner scene is amazing, but my favorite part is when it breaks the "Remember who you are" trope. The whole thing where a brainwashed character gets a flashback or something to their friends and family and it breaks their mind control. I love how that was subverted here.
Vi and Jinx view their friends and family differently. While, Vander gives Vi strength in her fight with Sevika, in Jinx's mind he's a monster who blames her for his death, same with Milo and Claggor. So Vi shouting out all those names just ends up causing Jinx more distress and pain. Silco actually seems to recognize this which is why he tells Jinx not to listen to her, and why he starts freaking out in his chair to get loose.

This exactly. I've seen so many people misinterpret why Silco tried to shoot Vi. "Oh, it's because Jinx was going to listen to her sister and go with her instead!" No, no it was not. What happened there was NOT the protagonist magically healing a brainwashed sibling, it was a foolish and unempathetic young woman trying to reach someone she doesn't really know anymore and instead causing her AGONY by trampling every traumatic trigger she has. Silco didn't try to shoot Jinx to keep her from taking "Powder" back, he did it because Vi was hurting his daughter.

Honestly, Silco is my favorite character. His entire arc is just crazy. What I like most is that the events of episode 3 affected him just as much as Jinx and Vi. He was a bad guy. but he was a great father. He understood Jinx and he gave to her what she always wanted from Vi. Acceptance for who she is *now*. She was so worried that Vi couldnt love her as she is now. And Silco, with his last words reassured her that he would always put her above anything else even his life's work. Then with "Dont cry. You're perfect." he conveyed that he wasnt angry with her and forgave her for shooting him and reassured her that she is perfect just as she is.

    • @pali1d

I wouldn't agree that Silco was a "great father" - a loving father, absolutely, but not a great one. He gave Jinx affection and acceptance from the moment he found her to the moment she killed him, without exception (at least, without any exception we are shown on screen). There is no question in my mind that he loved her and was devoted to her, and that he was absolutely sincere when he said that he'd never have given her to Piltover.
But there's more to being a good parent than simply loving your kid. Silco loved his daughter, but he also failed her in multiple ways. He never taught her boundaries of behavior. He never disciplines her - he gets close in ep. 4 after she kills the enforcers, but forgives her actions the moment she presents him the gemstone. He never seeks to have her psychoses treated (granted, it's an assumption that this would be an option available to them). He defends her from all criticism, even when that criticism is justified. He constantly validates her actions, even when he should not.
In short, he enables and encourages her worst tendencies. I don't doubt that he is legitimately doing his best to raise her and care for her as a father, yet that doesn't mean he succeeded at being a good one overall. But a loving father? Without question, he succeeded there.

I do agree that he was trying to teach her to survive - but self-control, consideration of outcomes, and the ability to work well with others are all critical survival skills that Silco himself excels at, and he failed to teach her them. • @keepyourselfsafe1386
    @keepyourselfsafe1386 2 года назад +84

You want nothing more than even just a shred of a happy conclusion for all of the characters. But in the end, nobody comes out a winner. Arcane is a beautiful portrayal of the duality of decisions and the consequences that come with them. Amazing commentary, Arcane managed to grip an audience for a full 9 episodes and accomplished more in those episodes than many multi-season shows out there.
Silco was everything Powder/Jinx wanted, someone who would accept her for what she was, flaws and all. He loved her unconditionally, for better and for worse. Vander was the father that they all needed: understanding and caring, but willing to put his foot down to make sure his children developed into well-rounded people.
Vi has solved every one of her problems with her fists, so when it comes to Jinx's mental state, she has almost no experience to draw from. Jinx hoped Vi could understand that she is different now, that it's not possible to go back to exactly the way it was in the past. Vi continuously calls her Powder, reminding her of the past and all the trauma that comes with it, making Jinx all the more tense and volatile. Vi's heart is in the right place, but it's not what Jinx needs to hear right at that moment.
Silco finally understood why Vander made the decisions he did, all those years ago. He would do anything to achieve his dream of independence, but he would do even more to protect his daughter. Silco makes peace with his brother in arms, then spends his last breath comforting Jinx.
Amazing series, well-developed characters, impeccable animation and flawless voice acting. Nothing is perfect, but damn does this masterpiece come close to it.
P.S. also watch the music video for Enemy: Animated to the same style and quality. It includes scenes they didn't manage to fit into the show and hits different after finishing Arcane.
P.P.S If anyone wants to just have a discussion about any part of the show, just reply. I could literally talk about this show for hours.

What do you reckon happens to both Piltover and Zaun now that their major leaders are dead... now that Jinx... sort of jinxed... both cities? Jinxing Zaun by killing Silco and jinxing Piltover by killing and/or injuring the Councilors?

    • @keepyourselfsafe1386

Hmm I've got a few ideas. I haven't played the game but before watching the show I knew that Jinx was a playable character in League. I guess you're bound to come across some things in passing on the internet. Other than that though, I know nothing else about the game.
When it comes to the fate of the council, I don't believe everyone will die. Right before the rocket hits the glass we see that Mel's golden thing on her back starts to glow. Idk if that's some kind of magic thing or it was just some kind of reflection from the rocket or something. Mel's from Noxus (is that how it's spelt?) which seems to be some kind of warmongering area based on her mum's personality. My assumption is that the golden thing has some protective properties, maybe from her mother when she sent her to Piltover?
Anyways, I think Jayce, Viktor and Mel will survive. Maybe Viktor has some powers from his Hexcore experiments that can protect both him and Jayce, or maybe Jayce can use his hammer to deflect the blast? I didn't see the hammer in the vicinity though, lol.
Cait's mother will die in the explosion. This will cause a rift between Cait and Vi if the latter still wants to reconcile with Jinx. It also doesn't bode well for Vi/Jinx's relationship, killing the mother of your "good friend" isn't a great first step towards reconciliation.
Sevika will take Silco's place as leader of the underground and it seems that war is inevitable. Mel's mother gets her wishes granted and Hextech is weaponised for military use against Zaun.
I genuinely couldn't even try to predict wth Jinx is going to do next. She's accepted that she can never go back to being Powder, but we all saw that at the critical moment when she had to choose between Vi and Silco, she chose to save Vi. There's still conflict inside of her, but the idea of any kind of "happy ending" for Jinx is dwindling very quickly.
Ekko had arguably the best fight scene in the show when he faced his childhood friend Jinx. I watched the Music video for the opening and seeing them spend time together as kids, playing games and having fun, makes their showdown all the more tragic yet all the more spectacular.
Most of the predictions I've made seem like logical continuations of plot points introduced in the first season, but I just know the writers have some twists and turns ready for us along the way. I couldn't correctly predict the story when watching season 1, so I doubt I'll be able to for season 2 lol.
Anyways, season 2 can't come soon enough. But having said that, I'd rather they take their time and polish their work for another masterpiece of a season. I've heard that we're in good hands in that regard though.
If you can't tell I'm addicted to writing up my thoughts on the show lol.

@@keepyourselfsafe1386 Sevika and Vi have duality, both want a prosperous Zaum, both followed Vander. In one episode Sevika says she wouldnt follow a weak leader and then kills this guy.
Vi will now join to Cait, Piltover, the enforcers, precisely to stop Jinx (still wanting Powder back, its in the game, she never give up on Jinx, thats what she is, will die trying). Sevika must command Zaum, but with Vi in control, like the old lady did with Vander.
Medarda must die, Caits mother too. And this should provoke a war with Noxus and his mother. New characters will be introduced, from Noxus and Ionia probably. Viktor does not die, as he is a playable character, and together with Singed (the scientist) he will transform his entire body into Hextec (including that arm with laser), which will cause conflicts with Jayce. Viktor, like Jinx, are victims of circumstance and lost along the way, becoming villains.
Oh, and Vander is alive, its one of Singed experiments, caught shortly after the incident. He will become Warwick, completely unrecognizable, not knowing who he is, just remembering that he must protect two girls, one of whom is named Violet (scene in which Powder desperately calls out to Vi).

There are so many moments in this series that show the duality of these characters, the parallels between sides and factions. Silco's monologue in front of Vander's statue had two completely opposite effects.
Silco acknowledged that he and Vander were the same but while Silco realized that just like Vander he was willing to throw away everything for his daughter just like Vander did, Jinx thought that she was going to be betrayed and thrown away again. I also fell in the trap of thinking that Silco was going to give up on Jinx at that moment, it fit the monstrous villain trope, in the end he proved to be quite human.
Its kinda tragic that everyone was rooting for Powder to actually succeed to prove that she is not a jinx, she ultimately cemented herself as just that a true Jinx who brings misery to everyone around her. Powder died with Silco and the now "perfect" Jinx was complete.

What makes the writing in this show so great is this: the plot is entirely driven by choices the character make and by who they are driven to become. We see each character evolve, we see them make choices we understand, we see those decisions lead to consequences that cause the characters to evolve again. It's entirely self contained; it doesn't rely on external forces to provide momentum and drive the story. Once we've been given the premise, the set up, it's the characters' natures and actions that fuel everything else.

But silco knew an wanted to keep her safe as well as under his overprotective wings. Since his the dad of the year jinx just like Vander was to VI

We have indeed made it :'(
Edit2: yes, its 2 haha wrote this after everything. But yea, thoroughly enjoyed your reactions AND editing (not enough ppl give props here)
And idk what filming you refer to, but even aftet you cried you still looked 🔥
And what a genuine ending of the video. Thanks for sharing that vulnerability
    Edit:
That platter scene was so good wasn't it?
My fav scene is the end
Bcos a lot of ppl misinterpret it. They think Silco was trying to manipulate and keep Jinx
But I think he was genuinely trying to help her
When Vi brought up the past and Powder, Jinx got tormented by the trauma on the spot that she never rly got help to properly face and Vi kept forcing her in that moment to confront it but its too much
And Silco sees Jinx tormented and re-traumatised and he tries to shout over Vi to drown her voice out
And failing that he sees only the opportunity to shoot Vi (we don't know if he would have killed her)
And in Jinx's confused state she is hyper-sensitive to danger and see/hears the gun cock and immediately shoots to shut down 1 of the many perceived threats
I believe Silco truly believed that everyone would abandon them
He had no way to know Vi was just around the corner on the day Vander died
To him, Vi DID abandon Powder
When he sees vander abandoned her too, I believe this isn't the truth but actually him projecting his own abandonment trauma
    Its such a great scene

I wanted to thank you for not being afraid to show your emotions. This show evokes so many powerful emotions by coupling an epic story against mind-blowing visuals and insanely complex yet subtle nuances that most of the reaction videos I've seen seem reserved and I'm glad to know that I was not the only one who had to stop at times just to collect myself and get my head right before finishing a single episode. Please keep doing an amazing job.

The shark bazooka is her weapon in the game, but they show it here not just as an easter egg. The shark bazooka was based on Silco's liking towards sea creature, and if u look closely the shark bazooka has a scar on it's left eye. You can also see that Silco's ashtray and mug is decorated by Jinx.

Also since you reacted to Lucifer I thought you’d like to know that Dan (Chloe’s ex husband) voiced Jayce! When I found this out in the second episode it made me enjoy it more lol. (Haven’t seen the video yet, I’m going to guess you also cried when Silco died/that scene in general)

So Fortiche the studio who animated is a french studio. After the french dub was kinda insane and i just wanted to compare some of the lines between the english and french version: in the vander statue scene silco say in french "il y a-t-il plus grande faiblesse que d'avoir une fille" --> "is there any greater weakness than having a daughter" and i do'nt know i find this version of the line more interesting than the original because it really is something that apply to so many character of the show: Vander, Silco, Mel's mom, Marcus even cayt's mom i a way all are character of power and influence but become extremely vulnerable when their daughter are involved
Plus the final words of Silco seems quite quick in the english version, in french he says to her "jamais je ne t'aurais donné au gens de la surface, pas même pour tout l'or du monde. Ne pleure pas tu es parfaite" --> "i would never have given you to the people of pilotver. Not even for all the gold in the world. Do not cry. You are Perfect" Now what i love in the french version is that in french we don't really have contraction like you are --> you're so the fact that silco say each little words "you = tu " "are = es" "perfect = parfaite" had a lot of gravitas to Silco's last words.
Finally i saw in a comment a lot of ppl talking about their favorite character and i would like to add a little apreciation for Sevika. My fav character is Silco but i think the really on point writing of Sevika help a lot to make Silco into a great character. let me explain myself. Sevika really fight for the cause, she believe in the nation of zaun in a world where her ppl can be free from the upper city's oppression, even tho she can seems sometimes like a very brutal character she's actually quite rationnal. She followed Vander in the past to free her ppl. Then she started following Silco, not becasue she was characcter or he had many or whatever but truly because she was sure he would be the perfect leader to free zaun. The killing of finn is one of my favourite scene because you can really understand the loyalty some ppl vowed to Silco. He's not just a gangstzer, he does not only ruled by fear, he has a vision, a cause and a determination so strong he rallied strong ppl like Sevika. Silco at this point truly have like the aura of a savior for Zaun and the ppl opressed. Where ekko is the boy savior the yong mind filled with guts, inventivity and hope Silco offer a darker shade of liberator, quite the man savior. he lost hope and optimism when his brother betrayed him, when pilotver send armed force to Zaun and killed so many ppl. Silco to me kinda has a really cinycal and dark christic figure because all he talks about when it come to fighting for the cause is sacrifice and means in order to reach an end. Blood sweat and tears to achieve freedom. And what's even more amazing in that character writing is, at the moment he reached everything he wished for he fall. But he does not fall to a sin like greed, pride or anger. He fall to what could be considered as a virtue: Love. He experiecenced with Jinx exactly the same thing Vander went throught with Vi. And even tho the fact that he end up giving up on his cause ( wich he talked about non stop for so long ) could be seen as hypocritical I think it only makes him better. Because it makes him human and bring him us close to the viewer. For quite a time he is this like kind of mafioso steampunk leader, ruthless, determined, cruel but throught the show you see him care, love, you see him angry and afraid, proud and passionate. I think Silco has just so many nuances that makes him into such a great antagonist. He's the kind of villain, you wanna hate but you end up feeling weirdly close with.
yhea i know it was suppose to be about Sevika but damn I love Silco so much

"Nothing every stays dead" I think was in reference to herself after the bridge fight (being forced to live) and or the fact that no one stays dead in her mind (mylo, claggor, and Vi when she thought she was dead during the time skip). They haunt her forever.

Idk if anyone's said this. But the shark gun is the weapon Silco wanted her to make. The scene he put her under the water he mentioned how he loves sea creatures, so that's why it's a shark. She made it as a gift for silco, it even has an injured eye like he does. So her using the gun in that way was very symbolic.
Also a side note her multi barrel gun she named pow pow after the scene that Vi called her pow pow. She did also name the shark gun, she names every weapon

About jinx fish gun, (it's called Fishbone in the game) She made it as a present for Silco, if you pay attention you know Silco love sea monster (like at episode one when i look at end in the under basement) That's why she make a gun look like a big fish monster, and if you look closly, you can see the gun has one eye injured like Silco. She was probably planing to offer it as a gift for Silco.

Loved your entire reaction series to this show!
The ending got to me so much, not just because of how it ended but because of what it made me realize, both about the story and something about myself.
The story realization was that Jinx at no point was ever going to end up back with Vi (not just because I play LoL and know the lore) because Vi wanted Jinx to be Powder. The problem was that Jinx could never go back to being Powder, not after all the trauma and experiences she went through. Vi was having a hard time accepting Jinx for who she was now, wanting to love her sister for who she was. I don't blame Vi, she was dealing with her own trauma, especially that of being in essentially a time bubble by being in prison, but by reminding Jinx to think about all the people (who had died, some by Powder's "fault") in her past, she solidified the idea that being Powder only brought about trauma and hurt. And, while it certainly does not excuse Jinx's actions or the consequences for them, if you're going to love someone, you have to love them for who they are now, not who they were or who they could be. It makes Silco's line "You're perfect" so much more powerful.
My own personal realization was that it made me think a lot about me and something that probably seriously fucked me up for a while. I was a very different person as a young child, I went through some serious trauma and I changed a lot (though nothing quite as dramatic as Jinx's transformation). I remember that at one point, I think in high school, my mom asked me "Why can't you be like you used to be?" . . . I didn't realize at the time how fucked up that is to say to someone, particularly someone who's gone through a lot of trauma.
And to be clear, I don't blame my mom, I love her very much and now that I'm older I can understand where she was coming from. Not to mention context is everything, and she grew up in South Korea in a time when the idea (and TBH it still kinda Taboo) of Mental Health was unheard of. She is a product of her times and experiences. Context is important. (And these days she's much more understanding about Mental Health stuff cause people can learn and change).
So yeah, at the end of the day, Jinx was never going to end up with Vi, because Vi wanted Powder and Jinx could never be Powder again.

Jinx will always hold a special place in my heart. I loved her ever since I saw the 2013 music video "get jinxed." In game she was always my top pick for the bottom lane. There might be better champions but something about her abilities just made me love playing her and I have many fond memories with her. Got mastery 7, had my first pentakill, Crazy snipes with her ult from across the map, Once some friends and I played a game with nothing but star guardian skins and star guardian jinx is the best. The only character I love more is probably Ryze. I am so happy they made Jinx such a compelling character rather than just a Harley Quinn knock off.

I dont believe the council is dead.
Ep. 4 Jayce made those Gloves, for mining in the fissures he must of thought about cave ins and a way for them to get out.
Ep.7- Mel said something about take measures of their own for protection.
Ep. 8 we see that his hammer has some sort of a shield.
Ep. 9 in the fight with Savika we see yet again another shield from the gloves.
When they are all voting for peace. And when we are looking over mels shoulder at jayce. Just to the right of Jayce we see a blue glare. You can tell that mel sees it, her head turns and her body jumps in surprise. Just before the rocket hits. We see a YELLOW glow (Similar to the Hammer shield) eminating from Mel as she looks over her shoulder turning to see the rocket.
I believe she is activating a shield.

I know this has been said before but the rocket launcher is actually made with Silco in mind. The rocket launcher looks like a shark and Silco loved marine life and it’s left eye was ‘corrupt’ just like Silco’s injured left eye. Feels bad.
