One of the most noticeable things about arcane's fights is that they're so personal and visceral. Not only you emotionally feel for the characters involved, which is in itself a testament to the quality of the show, but you also feel the weight of the punches thrown too. The writers and the animators have done a really great job and I can't wait for season 2!
This show came out while I was in the hospital; I watched the first 3 episodes, and the next 3 dropped in the night after I'd watched the previous 3, and it was so good that I could for a time forget how close I came to kicking the bucket. It was so good. Went home shortly after and couldn't wait for the last 3 to come out.
The thing about Ekko in this scene, he "controls time" in the sence he has a perfect sence of timing which he has trained since he was little. You see him keeping time when they assault the smuggling airship, and clock-machinery is a big part of his character. Timing is also a big part of his character, though it is shown in a more nuanced way. He is always "at the right place in the right time" as opposed to many other characters that sort of stumble into things. In the game lore, he would later get minor time manipulation technology, but it's his trained sence of timing that carries him even without any timey-wimey shenanigans.
I believe the timer in the airship is how long the goo holds before falling to pieces. So it represents how long they have to get in and get out without a protracted conflict.
what i really love that ekko is the only character who is existing in the present everyone else is either living in the past or living in the future. Ekko certainly uses the past, but what he cares about is making the most out of the time he has, currently
It's genuinely the best way to answer his powers in the game. His R "ultimate" is literally reversing to where he was several seconds before and causing damage. So without getting to overwhelmed with trying to explain it, they just focus on the history of the two and show how this is a scene he's scene before. Arcane is great on many levels, but the way they realistically portray character abilities is top tier. And this fight is so damn popular for a reason. It's emotional, represents the characters in game abilities and also tells a frigging amazing story
I think it's a lot more compelling that he plans things out with time rather than resetting and learning. It's a bit more grounded and a lot more dramatic because a plan can fail no matter how well planned out.
It's... it sounds like such fanboyism, but what yes said. This is one of the best shows in years, and absolutely the best animated. For a load of reasons, from story, to animation, to fight scenes, music, so much expressions conveying emotion... it's astonishing.
The Jinx v Ekko fight there's backstory to it if you watch the series that makes that fight scene have more impact. Ekko is reliving play fighting he and Powder did as children informing him of where he failed then and what to change now. The great thing about Arcane is the fight scenes advance the story and are never put there just for action. The hammer and gauntlets are mining tools not originally weapons. The 'gun' part of the hammer is for blasting rocks and the shield part of both are to protect miners from falling rocks.
Jayce had just made the hammer right before that fight TO fight with. Yes the gauntlets were originally made with the intention of being for miners before Vi basically just took them to go fight with, the hammer is just for Jayce tho.
Big props to the artists, animators, and fight choreographers of Arcane. Without even knowing much about the characters or backstory you still get goosebumps from the Ekko v Jinx fight.
@@muppetman7027 Yes, and the fight happened with in hours of Vi meeting Jayce who until their meeting in foundry was against making Hextech weapons. What did Jayce's family buisness make? Tools not weapons.
As much as I love this channel, watching these fights without the story context takes all the weight out of them. These scenes aren't mindless action, they each have so much thought and focus put into them and it is a disservice to not watch the lead up to them. Still keep up the good work.
I will probably end up watching this but if I waited until I'd seen the show to do these it would ruin the reactions! Also I'm terribly slow at watching stuff. Its taken me 3 nights to watch 1 episode of the witcher
@@lukelblitz3627 I have said that about those fights as well, especially the ones where the after math is so heart breaking like with Date and Volg. But they are professionals paid to fight where as these fights more plot driven without a job as the vehicle to fight.
A couple of scenes missing here are one of a younger Vi using a boxing training game and a second with an older Jinx trying to beat her sister's high score on it. The scenes are great for storytelling purposes, but also a neat way to compare their fighting styles.
With Vi vs Sevilla round 2 can we just appreciate that Sevika while she hates her has enough respect for Vi to let her get a drink then just goes “really b? Did you have to throw it at my head?”
There is a lot of violence all along the series, but violence isn't always taking fights form, actual fights are basically all on this video you watched. That said, as you noticed, even fights manage to make you feel and make the story progress, if you like good story telling, it's a show worth watching. I also love how good the show is at hyping you with that violence, and making you pay, feel terrible for having been hyped, it always reminds you that even if violence is in human nature, it's also often wrong and always has consequences. Anyways, could talk about Arcane hours, probably days, without being bored or tired of it, so best you watch it and get back on video if you have something more to say ;)
ekko controling time here is a misconception, while he does figure out how to do that later at least after season one, this scene with him and jinx was just showing how they used to play fight and how things have changed, particularly with the fact that ekko can beat jinx now.
Arcane has to be one of the best animations I've seen in years. Watching you comment on the fights made me realize that one reason it felt so good is the fights made sense. I just get so used to 'super hero' and action movies with bad fight choreography, so when an animator, of all things, does a better job than anything live action in the last nearly 50 years... yeah. The story is also really good - but I remember thinking the whole time through that there was just something in the animation that was special. This; the fight scenes, is just a part of it. I've don't think I've seen fights this good since Bruce Lee was making films. Everything since has just been special effects covering up bad choreography.
Thats what you get when you hire a non USA studio that hasn't have a busy schedule. They have the time to focus on details in animation. And i know because a friend of mine works there, they even made the music clip Enemy in less than 2 weeks which is insane.
Ekko doesn't exactly have time powers... yet. In Arcane, he has an extremely accurate kinetic memory where he can remember the timing of events. Powder is a marksman ever since they were younger and aligns her shots with a pistol in a certain way when she's focused, hence why she swapped weapons and corrected her stance. The flashback is how it played out many times in their childhood- she misses the first 3 shots to maneuver him into taking the fourth but never accounted for Ekko changing his reaction to the second and third shot with a flip to get back in contact with the ground in time to respond to the last shot.
Ekko here is not controlling time (yet) He is using memories of past play fights with Jinx to calculate how he should move to dodge her attack patterns. So its a rewind, but not using any magic, just the memory of the past.
Vi is a beast! The animators definitely watched fight reels for this. My fave fight is the Vi vs. Sevika fight that starts with Vi's knee to Sevika's head --- EPIC! Other than the choke slam and the multiple rapid unanswered body shots ala kung fu movies, I thought this fight was the most legit, although they are all pretty great. Good commentary!
Seen Vi and Jayce attack on the Shimmer refinery next to Vi and Jinx fight agaisnt the Firelights, I have realized that Jayce killing spree is made to mirror Jinx's killing spree.
There are a few fight scenes missing from this, yes - both Vi and Jinx's scenes fighting the score based boxing target dummy thing which are awesome, as well as the fight against the Enforcers at the arcade. Also, in the Ekko vs Jinx fight, he doesn't control time yet. It's a flashback/memory of a game they played regularly as kids, before they were enemies they were close friends. The game was essentially can Ekko get to Jinx before she hits him with the "bullet" which was just dye. Ekko could never beat her as a kid, but in the fight scene, he finally beats her, except it's not a fun game anymore, but a deadly fight between one-time friends.
10:33 That counter uppercut is best punch ever animated. It's a thing of beauty. It's totally doable in real life but I don't know if anyone has ever pulled it off.
5:27-5:31 That's what I thought too, but nope! Turns out Claggor was voiced by Roger Craig Smith, best known for voicing Ezio from Assassin's Creed 2, Chris Redfield from Resident Evil 5 and 6, Batman from Arkham Origins, and Captain America from various animated Marvel series. Yeah, I was shocked as well. 😆
Love your reaction man... Experts really know their stuffs even those fighting style are kinda fictional and most are impossible you found some good looks from it and give define explanation of how hits will possible to commit and used in real fight...
This is one of my favourite shows, probably of all time. I'm really happy to hear you are going to watch it ^^ Keep up the great work man, I really enjoy how much fun you have with your reactions, you take less realistic stuff in stride and enjoy the fight scenes for what they are, more realistic or not. Keep up the great work
It's such a good show! One of my favorite things to come out recently. I love that you watched the fight scenes. The style and choreography were sooo good!
Ekko hasn't created the G drive yet in this so he isn't time traveling. This is long before League of Legends present day, he just remembers how they played this game as kids with paintballs and used the cadence of the watch to recall her moves, to remember and avoid her shots.
I love watching people react to seeing the Ekko vs Jinx fight for the first time because the shift in animation is so unexpected and the music goes along perfectly with it. It is a very short fight bit for those reasons it is my favorite fight in the series thus far.
I didn't have a 'favorite' character, but after watching months of Arcane analysis, the one that I love most is Sevika. Built like a heavy bag, and just as stoic.
My wife and I finally got around to watching it last month and my wife's favorite was Sevika too. I really liked Heimerdinger and Ekko. But I think my favorite was Silco, he was such a well written villain.
I swear, these algorithms are getting scary close to reading our minds. I was just thinking about how a martial artist would react to the fight scenes because the choreography is just one more thing that was beautifully done in this show, but I don't have any knowledge in martial arts to judge it on. Awesome reaction! Glad it came up on my feed. :) Highly recommend the show as well, even if not for your channel to react with. It has a beautiful story on the individual and macro/societal level.
ekko dosne't control time yet he just shows us an event that happened in the past as kids (where they play that game) and then ekko remebers the pattern jinx uses and used that to his advantage to get to clsoe to her and beat her
Late to the party, but they are missing the very short fight between Vander and that first guy pumped up on the purple juice. It's very short, but it really shows what he was capable of in his heyday.
Favorite scene the boy savior echo doesn't control time it's a game him and jinx used to play he would Dodge her paintballs and trying to get tag her before he gets hit it was very short but very emotional at the same time
@@TarsoFranchis He doesn't have the Z-drive yet in Arcane, so he can't control time yet. That was just a memory of the game Ekko and Powder used to play when they were kids that shows how much things have changed.
Movies, let alone shows, rarely leave me sitting there with my mouth open just staring at my screen but that Jinx vs Ekko fight blew me away the first time I saw it.
Normally it takes me forever to get through a series (even a short one like this) but I started watching it with my wife last night and we watched 5 episodes in a row and only turned it off because it was after midnight and I had to be at the gym to teach at 8am haha!!
There is one good scene with a boxing maschine, where you can see the difference between the style of jinx and vi. Where is shown, why vi is so good at boxing and why jinx fightstyle is in my opnion way worse. What also is great, some things are not really to spot the first time looking it. Take the scene where Vi fights the group of guys on the bridge in the factory. The big guy she knocks off .. look a little bit earlier and slower and you can see her fear of the knife before she blocks. Also some say there are three things that you can do in fights, run away, fight or freeze. In the first fightscene for jinx (the groups of kids fighting) it is freeze and i think it is beautiful made with her in the center and the slow motion fight around her, showing her fear. And one thing about the fight Ekko vs Jinx, he can not rewind time at this time, but they played this game as kids and both are remembering it. The official music video for arcane shows how close Jinx and Ekko where when they was younger. ruclips.net/video/F5tSoaJ93ac/видео.html
while Ekko's power in the games is control over time, that fight scene is actually before he gets his power. It represent the power he's gonna get, but in the fight itself he's just remembering Jinx's attack patterns from when they did playfighting as kids.
the hextech weapon seems to work with some kind of internal hammer, (probably the magic from the runes) u can see that clearly with the gauntlets, Vi´s hits are normal hits, but some times after the punch connect there is an aditional hit way stronger coming from the gauntlet itself, the show try to picture this by slowing down just when Vi´s punch connect, now, that is the ovbious part, but i think the same happen with the hammer, that is why even the most minimal hit can send someone flying or break bones like glass, like u say, that hit from Jayce shouldnt have the strengh to do too much dmg, but with the runes u can just touch something with the hammer, activate the runes and "boom" and since this is from the game, i think, this internal hammer is a representation of the champs skills in the game, Vi´s and Jayce´s "E" ability.
Watching the Echo vs Jinx fight and I thought to myself "Damn, I don't know how many times I've watched this fight and it still gives me chills." And right then you said "I literally have tingles goin on right now." :D
Man, you were doing yourself a disservice by watching these out of context... But I guess if this made you watch it, it's still better this way :P Great explanation :D
Hey man, I know you've not been uploading for a while, and that's fine. Just wanted to say that the 2nd season of Arcane is out, and the fight scenes have only improved. No need to make a video about it, but I suggest checking it out on your own time. Hope you're having a good life! Take care :)
i wouldve highly recommended watching the show before doing this breakdown or whatever cause any plot points may have been ruined from what youve seen here. even so i still think its worth a watch and maybe reaction to? btw riot doesnt copyright the music in it except for enemy which is the intro
As someone who is a very visual person and more of a visual learner, it amazes me how a show can lay out all the evidence visually what is happening in a scene and so many people just are unable to make the connection. It's so weird.
The thing about Ekko in Arcane controlling time isn't like the game. He can't actually control the time itself, he is only a time hacker: he trained to understand exactly what he and anyone can do inside a time slice. Is not a magical power, is a skill. What is a lot cooler than some kind of power, I think.
i hope you watched the whole show, it's the best thing to release in both years (S1/S2) finished the video, sadly you hadn't that final fight between sevika and vi is so emotional with vander showing up, hope you did get around to watching it though especially with season 2 out now
So League has been going through some redo's in the lore section, but as far as i remeber, those gauntlets have gravity manipulation capabilities making it so the user can use them without feeling their weight. Know imagine you being able to punch using a 30 - 40 kg glove wihtout getting tired... Imagine the hurting one could deal onto one's foe...
The kids fighting styles: Vi: boxe. Claggor: his weight Mylo: cruelty. If you have the chance to go dirty and bad, take it. Powder: run out (the smarter one)
The scene that breaks me along with so many others (aka the entire show)-I’ll give the explanation-is when Vi is horrified at how Powder (past Jinx) has changed and now takes joy in violence when she used to be bad at it before.
This show was incredible! I don't EVER binge shows, no matter how good it is and I watched this whole series in 3 days! For comparison it took me 3 months to watch fullmetal alchemist brotherhood (which is my favorite anime ever) and I was addicted to that one! So this was something truly special

Awesome reaction! Glad it came up on my feed. :) Highly recommend the show as well, even if not for your channel to react with. It has a beautiful story on the individual and macro/societal level.
Its next on my list as soon as I finish season 2 of Demon Slayer! This was incredible and I can't believe it's taken this long for me to check it out!
Gotta say, my favorite will always be that flying knee because WOW you felt the pain from that
ekko dosne't control time yet
he just shows us an event that happened in the past as kids (where they play that game)
and then ekko remebers the pattern jinx uses and used that to his advantage to get to clsoe to her and beat her
soo basicaly ekko vs jinx fight is ADC vs ekko AP assasin in game :D
Jinx got toasted :D
Late to the party, but they are missing the very short fight between Vander and that first guy pumped up on the purple juice. It's very short, but it really shows what he was capable of in his heyday.
Hope well get a season 2 version'
me too ! the fights in s2 so far are SOOOO well made.
This show was such a HUGE surprise for me, probably the best new show I saw last year. Definitely check it out if you can, Max. :D
"Punch first, ask questions while punching." - Vi
For real best show ever!
Favorite scene the boy savior echo doesn't control time it's a game him and jinx used to play he would Dodge her paintballs and trying to get tag her before he gets hit it was very short but very emotional at the same time
Ekko can go back in time yes, its canon, from the game. He takes a bullet there in the middle and comes back.
@@TarsoFranchis He doesn't have the Z-drive yet in Arcane, so he can't control time yet. That was just a memory of the game Ekko and Powder used to play when they were kids that shows how much things have changed.
This show is amazing!
Movies, let alone shows, rarely leave me sitting there with my mouth open just staring at my screen but that Jinx vs Ekko fight blew me away the first time I saw it.
16:45 It is not that he controls the time. More like his mind coming back to childhood years and predicting outcome of the fight
If you havent seen the show, you absolutely have to, its earth shatteringly good.
I'm glad "pocket sand" has caught on around the globe. Dale's the best.
Love your reactions 🥰
My man knows the names of these characters better than half the reactors who watched the whole series, lol.
"I can't believe this show is making me feel things just from the fight scenes!"
You don't even know man, GO WATCH IT!!!
I'm on the last episode of demon slayer season 2 then it's on to Arcane!!
13:10 agreed wholeheartedly 😊
Normally it takes me forever to get through a series (even a short one like this) but I started watching it with my wife last night and we watched 5 episodes in a row and only turned it off because it was after midnight and I had to be at the gym to teach at 8am haha!!
Aww didn't do the punching bag scenes for Vi and Jinx?
I didn't make the edit unfortunately but I'm going to watch the show once I finish season 2 of Demon Slayer so I'll get to see it all!
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 YEAH. That is what I like to hear. Two AMAZING series man.
You LEGIT need to watch this show!
Just finished it a few weeks ago actually! Hurry up season two!!!
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 I’m so excited!
I don't ever binge shows but I think I finished this in 3 days (record time for me haha)
while Ekko's power in the games is control over time, that fight scene is actually before he gets his power. It represent the power he's gonna get, but in the fight itself he's just remembering Jinx's attack patterns from when they did playfighting as kids.
What I've gotten from this is never underestimate the power of a body shot
the hextech weapon seems to work with some kind of internal hammer, (probably the magic from the runes) u can see that clearly with the gauntlets, Vi´s hits are normal hits, but some times after the punch connect there is an aditional hit way stronger coming from the gauntlet itself, the show try to picture this by slowing down just when Vi´s punch connect, now, that is the ovbious part, but i think the same happen with the hammer, that is why even the most minimal hit can send someone flying or break bones like glass, like u say, that hit from Jayce shouldnt have the strengh to do too much dmg, but with the runes u can just touch something with the hammer, activate the runes and "boom" and since this is from the game, i think, this internal hammer is a representation of the champs skills in the game, Vi´s and Jayce´s "E" ability.
i'm so sad he saw this before the show!
Watching the Echo vs Jinx fight and I thought to myself "Damn, I don't know how many times I've watched this fight and it still gives me chills." And right then you said "I literally have tingles goin on right now." :D
Man, you were doing yourself a disservice by watching these out of context... But I guess if this made you watch it, it's still better this way :P
Great explanation :D
Hey man, I know you've not been uploading for a while, and that's fine. Just wanted to say that the 2nd season of Arcane is out, and the fight scenes have only improved. No need to make a video about it, but I suggest checking it out on your own time. Hope you're having a good life! Take care :)
i wouldve highly recommended watching the show before doing this breakdown or whatever cause any plot points may have been ruined from what youve seen here. even so i still think its worth a watch and maybe reaction to? btw riot doesnt copyright the music in it except for enemy which is the intro
as soon as I finish Demon Slayer season 2 this is my next series to watch!
As someone who is a very visual person and more of a visual learner, it amazes me how a show can lay out all the evidence visually what is happening in a scene and so many people just are unable to make the connection. It's so weird.
Dude, you have got to watch the series.
I and many others Know you won't regret it.
Petition to make this man the official referee of all Arcane fights
Esperaba esto como no tienes idea ✨♥️
One quick correction- the femoral artery is moreso in front of the leg- where jinx got cut would more likely do damage to the great saphenous vein
The thing about Ekko in Arcane controlling time isn't like the game.
He can't actually control the time itself, he is only a time hacker: he trained to understand exactly what he and anyone can do inside a time slice. Is not a magical power, is a skill.
What is a lot cooler than some kind of power, I think.
i hope you watched the whole show, it's the best thing to release in both years (S1/S2)
finished the video, sadly you hadn't that final fight between sevika and vi is so emotional with vander showing up, hope you did get around to watching it though especially with season 2 out now
"damn vi has some nice hands"
Out of context I realise it sounds like I have a finger fetish
the most diffucult thing ever ekko is fast hit and run but when he ready to the man can kick it to a next level
Seriously, I can't recommend Arcane enough. I enjoyed season one and I am looking forward to season two. Have you seen the RWBY "Yellow" Trailer?
So League has been going through some redo's in the lore section, but as far as i remeber, those gauntlets have gravity manipulation capabilities making it so the user can use them without feeling their weight. Know imagine you being able to punch using a 30 - 40 kg glove wihtout getting tired... Imagine the hurting one could deal onto one's foe...
Bit sad the Vander Vs shimmer beast wasn't here but it makes sense considering that was Vander just being in an absolute rage to protect Vi
The kids fighting styles:
Vi: boxe.
Claggor: his weight
Mylo: cruelty. If you have the chance to go dirty and bad, take it.
Powder: run out (the smarter one)
Not many stories can get you invested in the characters from just the fight scenes. sm
he does not control time in the show, echo and jinx were remembering a game / fight from childhood and how it went overlaying the current fight
The pull into the body shot was so nasty I felt like I needed a shower
The scene that breaks me along with so many others (aka the entire show)-I’ll give the explanation-is when Vi is horrified at how Powder (past Jinx) has changed and now takes joy in violence when she used to be bad at it before.
This show was incredible! I don't EVER binge shows, no matter how good it is and I watched this whole series in 3 days! For comparison it took me 3 months to watch fullmetal alchemist brotherhood (which is my favorite anime ever) and I was addicted to that one! So this was something truly special
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 I watched this show in 2 days just a few days ago. I put it off cuz I worried it was overhyped and overrated. It was the best thing my eyes have ever laid upon.
You really.. REALLY should've just watched the series. There aren't that many episodes and it's SO GOOD.
One series of animated fight scenes to look at is RWBY. Specifically early season 1-3 scenes with Yang and/or Neo. Good starting point is the “yellow trailer”.
This is as good as breaking bad or good fellas. Its a masterpiece, a classic.
