The transistion which shows Jinx in her adult version by a frame is also present on the bug coming out of the mouth scene.
Also, we know that you didn't watch the show yet because you speak about how people make trailers speaking of merging scenes together, but every scene you watch in Enemy music video is NOT presented on the show. They are all shots made exclusivily to the music video.
I honestly never even realized it transitioned from Powder to Jinx in that clip until watching this.

I think a lot of what's shown in the video makes more sense after you watch the show, especially what you were mentioning with "young Jinx" and "older Jinx" being in the same frames and scenes at the same time. Because the show explains how they are pretty much two different people in one body, and "older Jinx" has kind of overshadowed and taken over "young Jinx" (p.s. I am aware of their names, I didn't want to say too much, but I think this much is pretty surface level with the show so not really a spoiler)
Jinx's original name is Powder. Also yeah I agree since her phycological damage has changed her to badly
My take is a little bit different from yours actually, I think that in that frame, it shows that jinx is actually just powder in essence even though she's already older by that point because had so much trauma and couldn't decide on her true and final identity until the end of the show, if you get what I mean😅, but I think what you said also makes sense
well I dont think Powder being Jinx is a spoiler anymore coz u literally see it in the music video. I also think the music video is ment to be watched after the show.
my theory is that Jinx is standing behind Powder to watch over her because Jinx is kind of like a new personality Powder formed to protect herself since everything was just too hard for her to take in with the way she used to be when she was young
Spoiler warning for themes and imagery from the show.
One of the central themes following Jinx is her struggle with mental illness and trauma that took place during childhood. You can see her mental stagnation in childhood demonstrated over and over again from her making morbid or dangerous items look like cute toys, to anthropomorphizing weapons, to outright decorating her room like a child's. Time has passed sure, but she hasn't grown up. She hasn't been able to overcome the _monsters_ of her youth leaving her emotionally immature.
Seeing Jinx and Powder in the same frame at the same time is fantastic because it echo's the *cognitive dissonance* between who she pretends to be and the fearful child she is inside.
the mv is showing Jinx's descent into madness after everything that's happened to her. you can see the mix of emotions, the confusion, & CHAOS in her mind.

@@fireruby1882 I am a Christian conservative, and I freaking love this show! For the record, I did not pick up on the supposed LGBT vibes until I watched other reactors mention it. For me, they were two people who were forced to trust each other during a difficult series of events, which naturally led them to being friends. And that is how I choose to interpret it until it is definitively stated otherwise (though I do agree that is likely where they are going with it). Either way, it does not affect my faith, nor my enjoyment of the show. 😇
@@kevinmalone7167 Just wanted to mention that the reason the majority of people believe they are bisexual/gay, isn't just cause of their ''friendship'' as you see it. Assuming you remember the show since you really enjoyed it, during the scene that they go to a Brothel, where Vi first clearly flirts with her by pushing her against the wall, calling her cupcake and even calling her hot. But, the main thing was the scenes AFTER this.
She asked Caitlyn very casually if she liked men or women, already showing that in this world being LGBT is just normal and casual. Then when Vi later returns after leaving Caitlyn on her own, we see a scene of Caitlyn clearly flirting with a woman in the brothel, giving her flirting eyes and a smile. That already is confirmation that at the least Caitlyn would be bisexual, why else would she be happy with a woman in a Brothel, something that she wasnt even required to do for her job.
Ofcourse it is your personal choice to see them as a couple or as very weirdly intimate friends who give eachother bedroom eyes, BUT I did wanna point out that atleast Caitlyns sexuality has been beyond heavily implied to be atleast Bisexual, and it is a little ridiculous to expect a show to straight up tell you ''She is bisexual''? Just like you would see a movie where you see the male lead flirt with a woman at a bar, you automatically assume he is straight. You don't wait for the show to tell you outloud what their sexuality is and in general assume they must be straight (which is already pretty biphobic to always assume but I digress).
It is just a thing I've noticed with many conservatives including non religious ones do, and don't seem to understand personally. Why is it necessary to get confirmation for a characters heavily implied sexuality in some shows, but always just assumed to be the case when it is about anything heterosexual? You see a man talk to a woman at a bar, assume he is straight without the show saying it out loud and never even think he could be bisexual. But you see a woman flirt with a brothel worker who is a woman, give her bedroom eyes and a smile and not taking her eyes off her, but assume she is straight. It is just a bit hypocritical and odd. Though I'm glad everyone enjoys the show :)
@@yulana990 I would disagree that it is phobic, as that means "afraid" or "fear of". And yes, the majority of people in the world naturally assume straightness because 99% of people in the world are straight. That's not to diminish non-hetero people, it's just how things are.
But to address the specifics of Cait's preferences; I, personally, know women who "flirt" with one another without being bi or gay. They regularly compliment each other on how they look, going even further than calling one another "hot", and outright say they are sexy. This kind of behavior, again from my personal experience, is far more accepted in women than in men. This is why I see them as friends.
That being said, it is also true that the longest lasting romantic relationships start with friendship. Most married couples (and here I am referring to hetero couples) are best friends, which strengthens the romance. I can't speak for non-hetero couples, as that is not my life experience, but I would assume that it is true for them as well.
So, to wrap up, my life experience and worldview causes me to see Vi and Cait as friends until explicitly shown otherwise. This is not phobic, but natural. It is also not a condemnation of non-hetero pairings, either. As long as the characters remain well written and awesome, I don't care what they do in the bedroom.

the little mechanical monkey is also a reference to when she was first released in the game, she got a whole music video about the destruction she causes and the clapping monkey is heavily present
The video is literally a companion to the series. When you watch the series the editing choices make more sense. Jinx exists in duality with her child self (who goes by Powder fyi). You bring up an interesting point of her seeming to reminisce at the bar and after countless watches of both show and MV I'm wondering if it is actually adult Jinx that is there visually personifying her regression to Powder in that moment. Throughout the video there are flashes between the adult and child. I highly recommend watching the show.
Here's the thing, I'm going to ignore for a moment that Imagine Dragons are definitely sitting in Vander's Last Drop and not Silco's, because the idea that the Powder at the bar is just a regressive projection of future Jinx remembering better times is mind-blowingly amazing and absolutely my permanent head canon from now on.

Honestly surprised you haven't seen this before. I love listening to you go through videos and talking about the edits the way you do. You do it so simply and the flow of the video doesn't get cut because you're taking so much time to talk about it. You've got a good balance of watch, react, response and back.
SPOILER ALERT (probably)
In the scene where the two appear together (young and old Jinx) it reminded me of the same issue that the show raises in the last episode, which is the fact that Powder and Jinx are "different people", which is why both in the same scene makes so much sense for me.
YES! same spoiler alert and all, I was kind of mad when he said that he doesn't like them standing together, because he completely missed that Jinx is standing over Powder protectively. They are meant to appear separate that way.
Most of the shots used in this music video actually isn't used in the actual show at all. It's just a sort of teaser to the world and characters in general, to intrigue you about the show, which btw you have to see, it's one of the greatest masterpieces in history.
None of the shots are in the show all the animation is original there is absolutely no reuse
Never noticed this before, and I have watched the song many many times, but if you pause it at 5:32 you will see that for like 0:5s after that bug leaves Powder's mouth she became Jinx, kinda sign saying the bug was her like childhood and innocence and as soon as she lost that she became Jinx, but it happened so fast you can barely see it.
Same thing happens in 7:29 as soon as the beat drops, she transforms into Jinx for like 0:5s
Arcane is peak cinema. It's gorgeously animated with a tight, incredible story, and it's very musical. Definitely worth a watch if you've not seen it yet!
Ahhh finally, the legend himself, now reacting to the legendary video of an amazing and by far the best videogame adaptation.
Also btw, you don't need to know a single dap of League to watch the show. So go ahead in blind and just enjoy 👍

Thanks for reacting to this! I would say that there are definite storyline reasons why young Jinx and older Jinx are often present in the same shot, and I HIGHLY recommend you watch the show to see why! It's incredible!! Not just a phenomenal story and every character nuanced and developed, but it's a glorious artwork of animation and there is SO much told through songs, emotion, and visuals.
Just here to say two things:
1-I'd watch a full Arcane reaction from you. If you want to nerd out on the frame by frame animation choices the show will absolutely blow your brain. It's 100% art and masterful character storytelling.
2-The dance therapy makes me smile every time. I love it!
I cant even watch without crying. The show had a big impact on me. I randomly cried yesterday just thinking about it
I just love how most scenes have something to do with synchronizing with the beat
11:40 - I disagree here, showing the monster she had to become standing over and protecting the traumatized little girl shows an internal split and her madness. The persona of Jinx arose as a defense mechanism, and that's clearly shown in the orbit of the enemies surrounding her.
I really enjoyed this reaction and the insights you shared and you pointed out some things I'd missed in my dozens of times through this music video. It's also fascinating going from like a rapper reaction or a music director reaction to looking at it from an editor's viewpoint. You focused on things no one else had.

Yes, also I always thought it's a good way to show her kinda schizophrenic side, being the vicious killing machine and at the same time still a young girl who lost everyone she looked up to.
Since you're a video editor yourself, I couldn't recommend this show more. Even without the visuals it's a stunning masterpiece, but for this reason I think you'd appreciate it a lot
So the premise of the music video is Powder (Her name before jinx) and her slow descent into madness. Part of it comes from loss but she is also injected with something called Shimmer which causes her eyes going from the blue to Pink/purple.
It also shows how Vi inadvertently contributed to it.

You need to understand why the older jinx is standing behind her. Jinx is Powders alter ego, she basically goes totally nuts and Jinx protects powder(inside her mind). Kinda like a split personality disorder. Also it's foreshadowing that transition when she grows up. Jinx is the end product of all of Powders Truma.
Your video actually showed me older jinx appearing during the mouth moth part. I've seen this video a hundred times and never caught that. So thank you for letting me experience something new about the video thanks to your breakdown!

I'm not a LoL fan either but you don't have to be to watch Arcane. It uses the characters from the game, but the story is so well written and you can go into it not knowing anything about the game at all and still be completely hooked. You said every frame here is an art piece, SO IS THE WHOLE SHOW!! And also, I would really recommend watching schnee's yt channel he does an amazing job of analyzing the show and really showing the effort and depth that they have put into everything.
I'm even more surprised that he hasn't watch since this man looks like he is at least knowledgeable of and at most a fan of the League lore, especially if ylu watch his older League vids.
It is definitely a Music video and not a Trailer like we all thought before the show came out. Not one shot is reused, it was all made for the music video and the story of the show and of the video are pretty much night and day
i think that everything in the video is perfect. For me it shows everything it has to do. you have to whatch it from the side of Jinx's mental state. I think it's genious. ofc you have to know about the character to fully enjoy it
im not sure if someone else already commented this, but the reason you see young Jinx (Powder) and older Jinx is because older Jinx is a completely different personality that manifested to protect Powder, but ended up remaining in 100% control (or at least that is my interpretation)
Yooo that is in a really cool interpretation and actually makes total sense. Now that you say that I think it is true, because originally powder needed to survive so Jinx began to form but soon enough Jinx took care of everything and powder was not needed or super wanted which is how powder had always felt so she had let Jinx take control....maybe something like that haha

The reason why you see older Jinx with younger jinx (Powder) on the same shot, is because that’s a really important aspect of the show. Plus another reason why the shots don’t line up is because This is jinx’s delirium, her scattered brain from the past to the present it’s suppose to not make sense.

Jordaaaan, I noticed that at 5:30, the image isn't the only thing that gets bigger, it's a shot where Jinx is older than she was on the anterior shot, I watched this mv uncountable times, but just noticed it now
I recommended this to my cousin who isn't into anime nor gaming but she definitely loved it, she was even angry that I told her it'd take a few more years or a decade for a sequel 😂. And I don't play LOL myself but the animation and story is 100%, this is one of the mainstreams that lives up to it's hype.
Its hard to imagine what it would be like watching this video without having seen Arcane first. After watching the show, the whole thing is a harbreakingly beautiful bunch of post-Arcane trauma triggers.

I love how even what can be considered technically wrong or confusing (I don't know, I'm not a professional at this) also makes perfect sense, considering that the mess in the transitions refers to Jinx's confusion about what she sees, hears or remembers. Also, the rap part appears as ecstasy at the moment where the clip becomes more tense. The more I see about it, the more I realize that everything about this series is brilliant.

This kind of stuff gives me hope and confidence about my future art.
From the rap part onward, one can deduce that the relationship between the two sisters has entered a conflict and showcases the start of the young girl's turmoil within herself.
The rap is a good contrast to the previously mostly calm depiction of life via scenery and music. It signifies the battle ahead with the young girl's psyche, which is unstable. Visually this is shown either by the older version of the young child appearing, colour glitches, split colour, dark and light, scratches or video playbacks.
Wonderful series to watch for all.
Also if you don't know, this mv has a lot of similarities with the mv: get jinxed, that is algo animated by fortiche, is so so great, I recommend seeing that music video also 🥰🥰

Fun fact it was meant to be, in fact it was Fortice's goal to make every single frame look like an art piece, which was explained in "Bridging the rift"
(Fortice is a French animation studio that animated almost all of the league of legends stuff, including KDA music videos)
Well the reason for showing them in the same frame is because they are practically two diffrent people. Powder developed DID from "The thing" yk yk so Jinx and powder are not the same person

I have watched Arcane three times already. It's a good show to watch and easy to pick up even without much knowledge of LOL.
Quick background and explanation: the girl's name is Powder, she changes her name to Jinx (think joker giving up his original name and identity), so Powder and Jinx are the same person, but also very different.

There’s actually a very good reason for why there are shots with Powder(young Jinx) and older Jinx at the same time. I’m not gonna spoil in case you do plan on watching it, but it’s a little more clear as you watch the show and just analyze Jinx’s psyche throughout the whole thing
At 11:35 you say that it would make more sense if they wouldn't show younger and older Jinx together since the same person and that older Jinx seems more like a big sister. I think you're both right and wrong because Jinx is like a big sister persona that younger jinx created to protect her(self) and I personally loved that they put that in perspective

on 5:35 (spoiler) i like the storyboarding on that, the bug would leave young Jinx, moving to the left side of the frame, revealing older Jinx but then the next frame is Vi punching to the right. If you think about it, it's like Vi's way of pushing back older Jinx and trying to bring back younger Jinx

The two Jinx is a decision that definitely has to do with the story, as “older jinx” is a messed up mind version of “young jinx” so the whole show is like both sides of her in an internal battle, and in the show everyone seems to look for the “young jinx” that still remains inside “older jinx” but it’s just trapped

Hey Jordan that scene in the crowded room with jinx like behind her younger self. I think what was intended by that is that 'jinx' the older person is actually a different personality so technically a different person to powder the little girl jinx. so technically your not wrong :D love the content
