In dreaming state (Swapna avastha) we become Gods. We are liberated from all kinds of physical, intellectual and emotional limitations. In a dream we can create anything we wish to create - the blue sky, the brilliant sun, the cool moon, the green forest, the blue-green sea, just by thinking about them. Dance is similar since it releases the dancer from all kinds of physical limitations. The dancer can become anyone he/she wants to become - Siva, Vishnu, Murugan, VinAyaka, Devi end even her lion. This kind of total liberation (while one is still kicking and ticking aka 'being alive') is best understood and enjoyed by all the dancers.That is why they continue to dance - as long as they can stand on their own two legs. :)
