"Bhakti is so far from reality. How does one show Bhakti with honesty while dancing, if one doesn't believe in these images and gods? This is a question that I am often asked, so I have tried to explain how I see Bhakti in this short conversation. "

Great discussion! I was raised a very devoted Christian but it was so much about sin and punishment and made no sense so I was lost for many years until I found Hinduism. It showed me how all regions could be real. Bhraman is God and we as unique humanbeings place characteristics on that.
it must feel like born guilty when you are told that life is a sin isnt it?
BHRAMAN is not God. It is what it is.
@@vishnuvardhan3047 I understand. I know you are right. it depends on your definition of god. If you define god as where this universe comes from then it is but I know what you are saying.

The first time I came across this concept is via Sadhguru. Here in Turkey everyone looks down upon this worshipping so many Gods idea. But then my Indian husband cleared the doubt between a Devata and the Creator. Or the lack thereof. What a sublime and elegant idea! Love from Turkey ❤️
Hinduism is the best religion ever in the universe..... Even if we say there are many creators...then also we are right. Thats why we dont care as to who looks down on us....we cudnt care less. Thankfully you got a indian husband who will bring you to this nice culture leaving the wild tribe culture of savages.
If you truly follow the ideas in Santana Dharma you won't look upon anyone as savages. 🙏🙏🙏
@@dancerukmini but how can we ignore the middle ages when waves and waves of turkish tribes attacked india...demolished temples...looted our wealth....abducted our women and sold them in markets in middle east. Isn't it bit of a stretch to simply ignore what history taught us and look away frm facts in the name of peace ?
It's a very simple understanding if there are a billions of people on earth why can't be there be many gods in the cosmos...the source of creation is one...never understand these monotheists fighting for supremacy of their one God...which they themselves can't understand ...but can only fight...

Yes, Hindus are not polytheists, they are pluralist. There aren't many gods in Hinduism, there are many ways of thinking about God. The ultimate reality is only 1 (Acc. to rig veda).

Nice explanation. Someone in a group asked this question to swami Vivekananda in the west. He asked that person to remove his coat and pass it to others to wear it. Some could wear it with great difficulty, some easily and so on. Swamiji explained similarly a single god, a single religious book thrust on masses will not work as there are varying temperaments and not all will accept a single god, a single religious book and so on. In Sanathan Dharma, we can worship the god as per our own mindset and temperment or may not believe in god at all and worship the Self(Atman).
Indeed a profound yet a simple way of following the CREATOR 👌👌😇🙏
@@mayakotiwale2800 and Tat Tvam Asi - meaning You (conscious and immanent soul) are (already) that (conscious, transcendent and omnipresent divine) regardless of whether you realize it or not because without the conscious and immanent soul or divine nothing can exist or nothing can be perceived in its current form or no duality cycles can happen eg Birth/decay (including reincarnation cycle), wave/particle, energy/matter, man/woman, manifestation/concealment (not creation/destruction), wake/sleep, freezing/melting, summer/winter etc
This is Sankhya Vedic metaphysics (around which the whole hindu/dharmic tradition was built) which can be validated by logic, double slit quantum experiment and embodied experience (direct knowledge through focus and meditation)
An example of Vivekananda is just something limited by his time. Logic is not the answer to God. Because, If he were to do the same with 10% Spandex , sure the coat would snug fit all of them . So a flawed logic , limited by its time. If one cannot accept on God for the entire Universe , Then God becomes a problem , which in itself is a problem , there will be contest between Gods or Consensus as all Gods are of equal power. Ok , You can create something ,but I will destroy it says another GOD as they are all powerful. Failed Logic that will be to have multiple Gods...
@@indianmilitary ... In simple words you are trying to say what's inside is outside and vice versa...
In Marathi we say, "Pindi te Bramhandi" (As below so above).
And Sankhya philosophy revolves around the Principal of Non-duality (Adwait Tattva). Which is why we say, "Ahm Bhramsmi".. And after sometime this " ahm" is also expected to drop... Just becoming one with that Supreme Intelligence or The SOURCE..

That's what I love about Hindu culture. It's open to everyone.
It would say it moves with time but some are reluctant to move it so get a bit stuck in their old ways. Have you seen a picture of Krisn (or Krisna)? He appears in many colours: blue, white and black and the amount of wisdom of his words are remarkable.
@Jaagruk Bharat not caste. It's Varna system, send varna is based on profession
@Jaagruk Bharat I am not religious but I believe new people who do believe in Hindusim are without caste. Caste is just a medieval concept which needs to be assigned to history otherwise people will get stuck in time like the teachers of Islam.
It is absolutely enchanting to behold Sarasvati and Lakshmi perfectly contemplated in the light of your whole being!

I'm a novice researcher of religions, born (Bapti-Costal) Christian now Muslim, and intermediate dancer (liturgical). This was an excellent explanation and it also explains why when I was watching her dance, I focused in on and felt you/she was having a conversation with God. Thank you for this.
This is the BEST answer to this question that I have ever heard in my life. Thank you!
Rukmini is grace personified. Just a powerful presence.
I remember, as a boy, hearing a Christian missionary preach to a crowd in India. Among other sweet things he was telling them was that if he gave a blow to their idol with his stick, what could it do? One of his hearers sharply answered, "If I abuse your God, what can He do?" “You would be punished,” said the preacher, "when you die." "So my idol will punish you when you die," retorted the Hindu.
Why does a Christian go to church? Why is the cross holy? Why is the face turned toward the sky in prayer? Why are there so many images in the Catholic Church? Why are there so many images in the minds of Protestants when they pray? My brethren, we can no more think about anything without a mental image than we can live without breathing. By the law of association, the material image calls up the mental idea and vice versa. This is why the Hindu uses an external symbol when he worships. He will tell you, it helps to keep his mind fixed on the Being to whom he prays. He knows as well as you do that the image is not God, is not omnipresent. After all, how much does omnipresence mean to almost the whole world? It stands merely as a word, a symbol. Has God superficial area? If not, when we repeat that word "omnipresent", we think of the extended sky or of space, that is all.
As we find that somehow or other, by the laws of our mental constitution, we have to associate our ideas of infinity with the image of the blue sky, or of the sea, so we naturally connect our idea of holiness with the image of a church, a mosque, or a cross. The Hindus have associated the idea of holiness, purity, truth, omnipresence, and such other ideas with different images and forms. But with this difference that while some people devote their whole lives to their idol of a church and never rise higher, because with them religion means an intellectual assent to certain doctrines and doing good to their fellows, the whole religion of the Hindu is centred in realisation. Man is to become divine by realising the divine. Idols or temples or churches or books are only the supports, the helps, of his spiritual childhood: but on and on he must progress.
He must not stop anywhere. "External worship, material worship," say the scriptures, "is the lowest stage; struggling to rise high, mental prayer is the next stage, but the highest stage is when the Lord has been realised." Mark, the same earnest man who is kneeling before the idol tells you, "Him the Sun cannot express, nor the moon, nor the stars, the lightning cannot express Him, nor what we speak of as fire; through Him they shine." But he does not abuse any one's idol or call its worship sin. He recognises in it a necessary stage of life. "The child is father of the man." Would it be right for an old man to say that childhood is a sin or youth a sin?
If a man can realise his divine nature with the help of an image, would it be right to call that a sin? Nor even when he has passed that stage, should he call it an error. To the Hindu, man is not travelling from error to truth, but from truth to truth, from lower to higher truth. To him all the religions, from the lowest fetishism to the highest absolutism, mean so many attempts of the human soul to grasp and realise the Infinite, each determined by the conditions of its birth and association, and each of these marks a stage of progress; and every soul is a young eagle soaring higher and higher, gathering more and more strength, till it reaches the Glorious Sun.
Unity in variety is the plan of nature, and the Hindu has recognised it. Every other religion lays down certain fixed dogmas, and tries to force society to adopt them. It places before society only one coat which must fit Jack and John and Henry, all alike. If it does not fit John or Henry, he must go without a coat to cover his body. The Hindus have discovered that the absolute can only be realised, or thought of, or stated, through the relative, and the images, crosses, and crescents are simply so many symbols - so many pegs to hang the spiritual ideas on. It is not that this help is necessary for every one, but those that do not need it have no right to say that it is wrong. Nor is it compulsory in Hinduism.
One thing I must tell you. Idolatry in India does not mean anything horrible. It is not the mother of harlots. On the other hand, it is the attempt of undeveloped minds to grasp high spiritual truths. The Hindus have their faults, they sometimes have their exceptions; but mark this, they are always for punishing their own bodies, and never for cutting the throats of their neighbours. If the Hindu fanatic burns himself on the pyre, he never lights the fire of Inquisition. And even this cannot be laid at the door of his religion any more than the burning of witches can be laid at the door of Christianity.
To the Hindu, then, the whole world of religions is only a travelling, a coming up, of different men and women, through various conditions and circumstances, to the same goal. Every religion is only evolving a God out of the material man, and the same God is the inspirer of all of them. Why, then, are there so many contradictions? They are only apparent, says the Hindu. The contradictions come from the same truth adapting itself to the varying circumstances of different natures.
It is the same light coming through glasses of different colours. And these little variations are necessary for purposes of adaptation. But in the heart of everything the same truth reigns. The Lord has declared to the Hindu in His incarnation as Krishna, "I am in every religion as the thread through a string of pearls. Wherever thou seest extraordinary holiness and extraordinary power raising and purifying humanity, know thou that I am there." And what has been the result? I challenge the world to find, throughout the whole system of Sanskrit philosophy, any such expression as that the Hindu alone will be saved and not others. Says Vyasa, "We find perfect men even beyond the pale of our caste and creed."
Very well said!

So many god's are better than one god
Because there are so many people
And so many problems
One god can't control all problems 😊😊😊
Thanks for describing the same fundamental truth from your perspective. It was joyful to listen to you.
If the Maker made the thing, who made the Maker? This is the argument used against creationism. Creationists then argue that the Maker pre-exists, is beyond time, and is therefore neither made or destroyed. The point being - Hinduism is the only culture that has debated this to the hilt. Other cultures throw a book at you, and ask you not to question anything.
Simple. Neither Shiva not shakthi can exist without each other. They always exist together for the perpetual duality cycles to happen eg Birth/decay (including reincarnation cycle), manifestation/concealment, wave/particle, energy/matter, wake/sleep, summer/winter, freezing/melting, man/woman/etc
Point is nothing can produce conscious Shiva and nothing can create shakhti either (intelligent energy) but in combination with conscious Shiva, shakhti changes from one form to another.
Sankhya Vedic metaphysics (around which the whole hindu/dharmic tradition was built including yoga and tantra) says that without the conscious, immanent (athma), transcendent and omnipresent shiva nothing can exist and you are that - Tat Tvam Asi - regardless of whether you realize it or not.

Paramashiva's message directly from Kailasa: Nithyanandam royal family. It is true my Mahadevi Rukmini. Everything exists in you. I am you, you are me.The Sanatana Hindu Darma allows all of us to be Gods and Goddesses and not fight with each other. All of us are Gods and Goddesses,we do not need any superior body to rotate all of us or to put a traffic signal for all of us. When the Third Eye(Raja Chakra) and all Chakras are awakened, one becomes Ishwara. Hinduism does not support the idea of one God. The beauty that is Sanatana Dharma.
& Namaskaram Rukmini gaaru.
People get confused with symbolism. It's just a way to tell about a concept.. like a storytelling.. We are too small in front of the creator, we give ourselves too much of footage with our very limited understanding of anything. The path to understanding divinity can be as varied as life on planet Earth... Why fight about it?
We are allowing cosmic energy to attain the supreme consciousness. God exists only when we are in consciousness.
You can't tell the all powerful where he exist when he created all existence
Understanding saguna and nirguna tatva of vedic sciences will bring better clarity. The way to express devotion. Saguna (Worship with a form, where various forms of god exist) and nirguna (express devotion, bhakti without any form)
Ma'am my greatest wish is that I could learn dancing from you... ❤
