Shawn does a great job of letting the guest speak, but jumping in to clarify for the audience (e.g. 203 is grenade launcher.)
Agreed
Shawn Ryan is an excellent listener when his guests are speaking.
Aye.
I second that motion! Sean, you’re an amazing interviewer! Know when to not kill the flow is critical!
So important
Thank you Shawn for letting these stories be heard.
Nick Irving is one of, if not THE most technical and calculating specialists I’ve seen interviewed. Always intrigued by his recounts. Thank you for your service, sir.
I promise you he is full of shit.
the way he does the math in his head and the mil spec so fast is amazing. highly trained
Our brain is constantly trying to make sense of what we see…referencing to have understanding. We are continually attempting to understand things with what we know.
True, I saw a guy get hit by a train years ago and the first thing that popped into my brain was a pinata.
Yeah, I was walking down a road once and far down on the road I saw a roadkill dog and the first thing that my brain thought that it was was a tan burlap bag spilled strawberry jam all over the road
Einstein genius over here
@@504M-16😂😂
The mind tries to fill in the blanks based on what we know and have experienced
Imagine doing all that math while someone is trying to kill you.
It's why they're so special! I couldn't imagine.. God bless them tho
Holy crap the sounds he heard wow unbelievable 😳
One of the realest guest on here!
This guy is a phony. A year or so ago he was claiming he was ripping guys arms off with a 50 cal from the bullet passing within a foot of them. Absolute nonsense. He was probably a cook in the service.
He's full of shit. Trust me.
@kineticraft6977 jealousy is a nasty trait. Obviously, he's legit... maybe some stories are embellished .. but he was..is... an elite sniper
@@miken2968 He wasn't an elite sniper. He's an embarrassment to the title. He barely passed the school and has been called out multiple times for talking absolute shit by his own blokes. Don't believe every expert talker you hear on the internet.
@user-ty5ig2ge1n were you there? Did you serve? One of the largest special forces podcasts run by a former seal/CIA operative, says he's legit... ?
This is one man I would MOST DEFINITELY WANT ON MY SIDE! Thank u sir for your service. My father is retired Navy, and I always kick myself in the butt for not enlisting. Time to watch the whole interview
My Father was a WW2 Naval Veteran, and I got the feeling he didn’t want me to serve, because I would have gone to Vietnam. These wars don’t seem to have achieved anything positive for the USA.
@@joelpierce3940agree brothers, it’s not about fighting for what’s right/nation or by embodying masculinity and “make something of yourself”. In reality it’s usually a war for no reason(money) and is almost satanic. War games, the industrial complex are things. Insurrection, coups are still being funded by cia in South America today. Makes you wonder at this point what event is an act of terror or a new reason to flex or military production.
I've been on a Nick "The Reaper" Irving RUclips votex all week. I can visually place myself in this guys shoes every time he speaks.
No. It was his brain trying to escape the reality of the trauma his was experiencing. Really allowing him to continue to kill with no conscious. It’s amazing what the mind will do to survive
That's exactly what it was ...cognitive dissonance
I just want to thank everyone that has ever served in our military. I truly can't thank you enough. My uncle's all did. I got with the wrong group of kids. Made some poor choices. I regret not serving. I feel like I missed my calling. I'm addicted to war stories etc. so thank u truly from the bottom of my heart. God bless u all
“ Got those kill’s “ bro Rlly lookn at it like it’s Cod 🤣😭
Happy vets day to all vets as am army combat wombed vet . This heroes vet n his team r a blessing under tactics to go n come thru this as all vets does wow greet info God bless
Nick. The way he describes everything. Clear and meticulous. All the mental traits of a First Class Sniper. BAD ASS NICK. MAY GOD KEEP YOU ALWAYS IN HIS NAME AMEN
Thanks Ryan. Bringing these experiences to life for others is amazing.
Black America has been in desperate need of heroes other than professional athletes and gangsters. A positive side effect of GWOT is the acknowledgment of black American Warriors like Nick. These heroes demonstrate America is worth fighting for. God bless Nick Irving.
Only a white or others would say something this stupid.
100%
They are being programmed by evil forces through the media 🤷♂️ Most blacks people have taken the ideology of the KKK. They are the new clan and don’t even realize it. I’m biracial so I watch all the bullshit on both sides happen and I’m super honest with it no bias bs 🤷♂️ My way of finding out about racism / oppression was when my mom had to tell her own kids we didn’t get the house because the owner seen her pull up with us in the car 🤷♂️ Whether people want to admit it or not ; it’s clearly a systematic approach. This is not a coincidence at all.
Keep race out of it. This is not about that. No such thing to me as an African American. It just American.
@@clintonscottwalsh you called it perfectly. Don't play into the left's game of identity politics, what we have here is an American patriot.
Love these kind of guest Shawn! Watched Nick on another channel taking and making some loooong ass shots
I love your podcasts
These guys are the real deal
He said I heard splashing
“Shit” 😂
This man has an extremely brilliant mind. One hell of a soldier.
The mildot comment really makes me feel fortunate to have range finding binos, kestrel, and a reticle in mils. I feel like I am cheating.
Real as real can be….👊🏻🇺🇸
He is the best podcast right there with JRE! No doubt he is unbelievable at listening to his guests n makeing them feel able to share what they do. So much respect ✊ 🙏🤙keep going!!
God Bless you Nick for your Brave Service&Thank You Shawn for a great video again.
Great interview man
Wow! Thanks Nick. Thanks Shawn
This helps. Thanks Shawn.
Every time I hear this guy recount his combat encounters, he sounds more like a mathematician. Everything he did was executed with mathematical precision. Plus he is so genuine, no putting on airs.
Nick's book is great. In person he's amazing
I've only just found shawn and I'm loving it, great guests. this guy has blown me away, He is a true hero, understated himself, makes out the super brave stuff he's done is nothing and generally plays down how good he was as a soldier/sniper, i see no arrogance in him at all, I'd 100% sit an have a beer or 10 with him
Nick was a Regiment guy I believe.
75th Ranger Regiment, 3rd Battalion🇺🇸
I was in Marjah man. Got shot February 4th 2011. With 3/9. Shit was crazy bro
Pemberton was my RASP Cadre in 2016… man ran the fail out transition section for RASP. Needles to say the man was a stout professional who out processed more people faster than he probaykilled them out of RASP…. Still remember his black mustang GT… you could just feel the man has killed more people than cancer that month..
For a minute there I had no idea what he was saying but I know it’s greatness
Love these interviews
thank you Shawn for bringing this content, Nick thanks for your story-
always love your show! GREAT INTERVIEW as always!
The flood IR light really illuminates a wide area
I love your long format interviews, you truly have a gift!
300 yards
Nick Irving, aka the Reaper 33. Incredible US military 🪖 sniper.
I used to work at Federal Cartridge in Anoka MN
Making 300 WM for the Navy in 2008. No BS
Epic work Shawn…man I hope you all get some degree of emotional cleansing from reliving these memories🙏🏻‼️
God Bless Nick for keeping our country safe. Glad he is back home and well. BZ
Another WW2 era sniper was utterly convinced he would hear the 'gasps' they made and they'd match "SHise!' accents, what he supposed they sounded like, matching injury (a neck shot 'gurgllle kahhh' and a head shot silent exhale as they fell etc. An olympic high jumper swore he absolutely hears the bar 'buzzing' like an electric swishing noise as he bends over it in mid-air. but it cannot possibly make such a noise yet his brain makes it happen.
It does makes sense in the way the brain needs to reconcile seeing them that close but needs to create a story or natural glue of things. We do that watching movies. You've probably done it. you are 100 for sure, you know you heard the baddies body make a sound 'thump!' but if you watch again and pay attention it did NOT make any sounds and that includes the original VHS copy. We had to 'fill it in' so that it made some kind of cohesive meaning to match our eyes and the scene.
Mahalo's bradah! sharing these experiences....Semper Fi!
Thanks for this interview.. thanks for posting the entire thing too.
It helps in more ways than I can adequately describe.
Wait wait wait...so he's just like, 'oh, I guess it wasn't a dog, it was a person'. Hilarious
“That was the only time I chewed someone out.” The culture difference between Army/Marines and SpecOps/conventional always makes me laugh 😂
I still don’t understand why Joe Rogan hasn’t had the reaper on. More People should hear his story
I love Nick 👍👍💯
Best pod cast out hands down
Carlos Hathcocks book talked about 669grain tumbling can injure a target with pressure waves. It’s just regurgitating myth and legend
Gallon of milk and a sack of potatoes, good stuff. Sorry you will have to live with those thoughts the rest of your life, I’m familiar.
I went to PLDC with a ranger who took out the MG positions at point salines airport Grenada. He was high energy. When I first watched David Goggins he reminded me of that guy. I think he got 5 men that night but don’t quote me. He saved a hundred lives that night that’s for sure.
Thanks Ryan
I know there’s a way for you to put pressure on your ear drums and it sorta functions as protection.
Dayum! Hell'ofa story!
When you think about…. It is very abnormal to kill another human… regardless of the circumstances.
This is why the soul and spirit will literally block out the experience and make it very non chalet….
Only the reality (horror) will come out, sometimes decades later known as ptsd.
I love the way you guys express your thoughts like that, very interesting ,Thank you!!!
Damn this is why I watch.. Warriors my friend, 🙏💯
...how many yards did you throw👀⁉️
300 yards
love the win mag . best long distance rd
Now this is the type of man worthy of a beautiful wife, family and life. Pure goodness and balls!
Seems like a lot of alphabet agency spooks in this thread throwing shade. You weren’t there!!
Thank God this guy talks yards rather than meters now talking minutes and mils I can relate but that meter shit throws my shooting game all up I've made more shots just using Kentucky windage and for some reason I'm more comfortable than using range finders and weather gauge and the ballistic computer granted those shots are all under 500 yards
Nick needs to start his own Podcast.
Thank you for your service. I'm not a fan of what you had to do. I would not want your memories..
So you mean to tell me that a round from the Schwerer Gustav measuring 30" in diameter traveling at 2400fps didnt take down a single tree it passed by, yet a .50 bmg will take off a limb missing it by 2'...😅😅😅
Something don't at up.. the bolt rifle hammer got stuck from dirt he said... nope it's a firing pin in the bolt that hits the primer.. and when rounds go past you close. You just hear the wack of the bullet going past because it quicker then sound.
@clintonscottwalsh that guy is nuttier than a squirrel turd. Don't doubt he did some wild stuff while in service but you couldn't pay me enough to buy his BS make believe
The entire time he just couldn’t believe that it was actually happening
Every single American adult should have to hear these stories of true war, I feel bad that Nick has to deal with the things he has to remember from being over there most men or women couldn’t handle it, he and his fellow soldiers are true warriors not meaning that their just tough guys meaning that they do what most can’t, they do it for their country, it’s truly terrible that most people don’t even know what soldiers like nick have done and it’s truly terrible that some people think they are murderers and don’t see the good that comes out of getting rid of evil terrorists, if we didn’t have warriors like Nick and Shawn and the rest of the military we would all probably be dead,
Love this show
Nick Ervin you Rock!!!@
ptsd is real, you start having these images in your head..
Oh. my. word.
Sounds sexy all the descriptions.
Great math teacher
Oh shit!!
SR25 in 300win? 🤔
Another ripper from Shawn.
5:39 - 7:30
CLIMB TO GLORY!
This shit is real. Believe me.
Wow. To kill is something that takes guts. Simple. You're killing another human life. That takes a lot of heart to shoot down a human life.
Whoa !
Some of what this guy says does not ring true. I was a 5th marines scout sniper in Vietnam from Oct 67 to Nov 68. I was with the second battalion 5th marines at Hue City in February’68. I had 17 confirmed KIAs in the battle for Hue alone and I’ve never heard snipers talk this way. He’s in and out with range estimates and situational anecdotes. His body language and verbal intonation does not sound authentic to me. Maybe it’s just the difference between me and my guys and this sniper. Adding this edit: maybe I would not sound authentic being interviewed either, but then again I would never submit to an interview and I don’t know any sniper of my generation who would.
Different generation. This is a known sniper "Grim Reaper"
So unless he talks like you...and whom you know.... hes being fake... ok noted
💪🏿🖤💪🏿
The milk metaphor jesus christ
BS YOU CANNOT HEAR FROM 150 YARDS AWAY BLOOD FROM SOMEONE HEAD. THATS A FOOTBALL FIELD AND A HALF. IF YOU NOTICED WHEN THE INTERVIEWER ASKED HIM ABOUT THIS PART HE CHANGED HIS STORY SOMEWHAT.
Handsome alpha right there!
RLTW 🇺🇸
ummmm
Hes a liar. Am i the only one realizing this
It’s well documented that he was in Ranger Batt and deployed as a sniper. What is he lying about? lol get a grip.
@@bluestfalcon419 all of his kills. Like when he says he watched someone turn to goo when hit by a .50 cal round....lies. blah blah blah.
you mean that VLAD video? He never said he did that. He said a .50 could do that, and it sounds like typical Joe tall tales spread in the barracks. The only .50 cal story he states as fact is when a gunner hit a RPG guy and it took his top clean off. First story was definitely dumb, and 2nd one is at least possible. That being said I don’t think it discredits everything he’s done especially with other guys in batt being with him on 3 deployments.
@bluestfalcon419 he said he watched a body turn to goo from a .50 cal round. Weird, I know lots of 75th guys who don't know who this guy is. Not saying he wasn't in 3/75 just saying I don't buy all of the "confirmed kills".
Well, even if you discount his kills, to 3, dude was still in batt and deployed multiple times. Not sure it’s fair to just outright call him a liar if he’s just exaggerating or misspeaking about things like people turning into goo. I’ve heard plenty of people tell me after a fight things like how “this dude unloaded a full clip,” or “this dude’s dome popped off,” when in it wasn’t exactly the case. I wouldn’t call them a liar since I know they were on the objective, but they added a bit of dramatics to it. I get what you’re saying but yea, not sure he’s an outright lying SOB like some are making it seem.
⚡️⚡️⚡️
Better them than you brother
Sorry but this guy lost me when he said a .50 cal passing close to you would still kill you ! All respect to a fellow service man but don’t tell lies to get attention. Not on this interview but a previous interview!
MERICA !
