The person I want to be: -she doesn’t obsess over exercise but remains active in her life. -she eats clean foods that she’s learned to love but treats herself to sweets because life is still too short. -she guards her peace and aloneness but still makes time for friends and family. -she’s okay with failing because she knows she can pick herself up. She’s me, I hope in the future.
I’d be careful about viewing sweets as a treat. In fact, when you think about what the ingredients in them and what they do to the body, it’s the opposite of treating yourself well. Maybe view it as variety. You can have them if you feel like it, but you deserve better than to put too much junk like that in your body. I’m not trying to criticise what you wrote. It’s just meant to be helpful, because reframing this stuff is tricky - and a lot of overweight people struggle to give up their ‘treats’ because it makes them feel deprived. It’s one of the topics Mae covered. Hope that makes sense.
“She’s me, I hope on the future.” Hope is dependent on circumstance - it’s total BS. If you desire something - fully commit and have faith, in yourself. “In the future” Why not now? If you want something, in the future - it’ll always be just that. In the future. Live in the present, doll. That doesn’t imply doing everything you stated perfectly, now - though, know that you already ARE that person you envision, NOW, and this is the process to it all playing it out and coming forth.
@@8jaime8 Nah, this aint it toward people who have EDs. It is absolutely okay to treat yourself and call it that. They're treats precisely because they're not meant to be a staple anyway, it's engrained in the word. Not sure what point you're trying to make with that distinction. Anyway, let's not demonize sugar. It causes a blood sugar spike, but most bodies are fully adapted and equipped to deal with this, though the effect is particularly negated if you eat your sweet shortly after a proper meal. This is because the sugar is absorbed slower from being mixed in with other stuff and the blood sugar rise cannot be considered dramatic, even with refined sugars. Anyway, we need a certain amount of sugar to function to begin with. Going slightly above that isn't gonna make you break out, fat, etc. So don't make people feel guilt over this, please.
I'm 6'3. Over 5 years, I went from 387-lbs down to being in the 190's today. The single largest mental change I had to make was rearranging my schema around food. When I was a kid, food was often used as a reward, or had while doing other fun activities, like playing video games or watching movies. Food, in my mind, was fun. I ate to have fun. The conditioning that shaped my associations around it was such that they weren't much different than perceptions around recreational drugs and drinking. Food was effectively a drug for me. I ate to have fun, but I also ate to numb emotional pain. I can go to the store and get my nice fun in a box rather than sit with uncomfortable feelings. And there's a build up of emotional debt with that. Doing the weight-loss for myself was nice in that I feel and look much better, but it led me to fix a lot of problems in my head too.
You are SO REAL for this. The two that stuck out to me are: find an exercise that you enjoy doing, and make sure you only eat foods you enjoy. I love walking, so I’ve made walking my hobby. I bought cute pink walking shoes, and I just walk and walk while enjoying the fresh air. I do at least 10k steps per day, usually more. And I’ve stopped overeating because I only eat foods that I actually love! I fell in love with eating yummy, nourishing foods. Sometimes I'll eat something unhealthy and I usually regret it because my tummy hurts after!
People SLEEP on walking! That’s how I lost 35 lbs! I walked 10-15k steps 5x a week and it helped tremendously. That with intermittent fasting. Congrats!! 💗💕

YOGA. YOGA. YOGA. i loveeee yoga and ab workouts SO MUCH. when i was younger i wanted to be a gymnast, so these workouts are the closest i feel to one haha! i feel like im playing everytime i do it.
I am Slavic, and in my country and family, leaving food on your plate is considered ungrateful, and as a waste of food. So, as a part of our mentality, I was always told to eat everything, and when I grew up, I figured out that I often overate not because I like junk food or snacking; I wouldn't say I like sweets and stuff. But my biggest problem is to leave the food when I am full. Especially when I moved to the USA with these huge portions at the restaurants. And I felt terrible leaving it on my plate, knowing I paid for it. It took me a while to learn how to listen to myself, and stop when I am not hungry anymore
I grew up like that too but as an adult, if I can't finish something then I'll just put it in the fridge for my next meal plus more food if it's not enough
Same with Punjabi culture. And as a kid you have to listen to your elders and parents. I say fuck em now. People in my family like to bully and shame me for “not eating enough.” But now I just know they’re jealous. I love when my waist looks snatched and titties don’t feel heavy and my back no longer hurts 😇
@@theultimatereductionist7592i dont think they meant it in a general way (eg: EVERYONE lies to themselves) but what LucidSunset said was true, thats why people struggle with addiction and binge-eating. You do have a point but you missed their point in the process..
I feel like you will have a rich and fulfilling life Mae 😊 not just your attitude and mindset towards food, but life in general. You are very “together” but you also understand you can never know it all. I’m 48 and we are ALWAYS still learning x
I love when people are HONEST about what they want. I have an aversion towards people who act like Aesthetics don't mean anything, as if everyone doesn't at least have the DESIRE to look good!
@@alexia964I think you look your best when you are your healthiest. Usually when we are healthy we find our mood is boosted. We sleep better. That’s attractive. It’s not about comparing to other people.
This is the only video anyone struggling with weight loss needs to watch 😊 it took me years to figure out the points she makes in the video but I’m happy another person will get to watch this n know without suffering longer
Just "letting yourself lose weight" is so true, I had such a scarcity mindset for a long time, sometimes I wasn't sure when I could afford my next meal, so I would just binge until I made myself sick. Then I quit smoking and drinking, and food took their place too. It's really difficult to throw food away or let myself be a little hungry without binging, but I'm trying every day! I'm really glad to see you had success with similar problems to me
Slooowly increasing my intake of fiber and prebiotics (especially resistant starch foods) was a GAME changer! A great example of adding good stuff to your diet instead of constantly cutting the "bad" stuff out.
This has helped me SO. MUCH. 1: exercise isnt a punishment for eating good food 2: don't restrict yourself. I used to do a 'french fry tax' where I could only have fries once a month. That lead to binge because I wanted the largest fries. No. I'll take a small whenever I'd like. She's so right. When you say 'I can have that from time to time' it changes EVERYTHING. 3: dessert is not a reward for eating a meal. It's something yummy you eat again, from time to time. With this mindset I started eating well because the food is good and NOT so I can have dessert after. It's been a month since this asd I no longer crave sweets after dinner!
THOSE AREN'T ALL THE TIPS, I WROTE THE ONES THAT, FOR ME, ARE UNIQUES IN THIS VIDEO, AS I THINK THE WHOLE VIDEO IS PRETTY USEFUL. I RECOMMEND WATCH IT COMPLETE 1. Visualize how you want to be (Write down) 2. Be conscious about how you feel and why you can't lose weight 3. Look for another "obsession" 4. Stop sabotage yourself in dieting 5. Control your portion instead of restricting yourself 6. Don't lie to yourself 7. The snacks are always there. You can eat it later, doesn't need i be right now 8. Gut health 9. Don't put food on a pedestal 10. Eat protein in every meal 11. Your habits need to be enjoyable 12. Be aware about your triggers
"Even though we do our best, our best looks different every day." So true and something I never thought about. I would always hold myself to the highest standard and beat myself up for failing
I'm just keep reminding to myself that cravings≠my desires, it's just my dopamine lvl's gone low and I can treat this without food easily I focused on my true happiness instead of temporary pleasures and it's working pretty well for me 👍i got rid of most of my negative habits already
This is so insightful! I thought I'd heard everything already but something was still missing because I still struggle with cravings often, so seeing this comment helped me revalue my cravings so ty❤
Adding on I once read telling yourself, "I can have these foods whenever I want if I want to, helps take back your control." Helped me shift my mindset and not think that it was the last time I was going to have some of my favorite treats.
i appreciate how you’re passionate but not unnecessarily harsh with your words. and your pronunciation is very clear and easy to understand even though english is not my first language.
I've maintained a fairly respectable 165 lbs; but I think what I do differently is that I eat to feel GOOD, not to FEEL FULL. If I feel full/bloated, that means I've eaten too much. I eat enough that I'm not hungry or likely to be hungry for the next say, 3-4 hours, and just call it. Fear/Guilt/Shame of "wasting food" is another thing to avoid, it's an emotional manipulation - usually pushed by parents in your childhood - that is a complete non-issue that needs to be let go of.
The Okinawans have a saying that basically translates to “8 of 10”, essentially this principle, with food. And there must be something to it - they are one of the Blue Zones! 😊
I normally hate these types videos because other ones ive seen tend to push unrealistic goals or extreme mindsets onto people and I feel lazy and bad about myself after watching, but this one genuinely inspired me to try to be the best version of myself, and in a way that's kind and realistic. Thank you!! Pls never delete this
I really like how you're being honest and respectful at the same time, this video is so right on time for me, this is my 100th time trying over again not only to lose weight but also becoming a better version of myself, and you gave such a new approach to it for me! I'm definitely gonna get back here if I ever feel like giving up again.
Since last January I’ve lost 40lbs (was 180lbs at 5’1 and now I’m 140lbs on avg!) I still have 20 more to go but guys! Literally just start with 3 main habits/micro habits: 1. Drink minimum 6 cups of water a day 2. Cut out chips, soda, cookies, candy. You have to have really strong will but you need to want it BAD enough. Find substitutes for snacks! Limit to 1 snack a day even. 3. Take a walk, do yoga, or go to the gym at least 1-2 times a week to start. U don’t have to immediately start at 5x a week but slowly leech these habits into your routine. And remember to check your form! We got this
@@bubblysoda8149 np! Tbh once I’m in the gym I can be there from 60-90mins. Def at least an hour or a hardcore 45mins. The thing that made me shred the most weight was I would do stairmaster at every workout. 15-25 mins. 95% of the time it was 25mins but you have to build up to that. So the first two weeks do 5 mins, then add 5 mins and so on. Also, Don’t start w no crazy routine the first three months cus it’ll overwhelm you. Try out diff machines and workouts and see what’s best for you! My top 3 favs are stairmaster, leg or arm machines with weights (always start low and build up), aaand jump ropes (100x1) or squats! Just know most of my weight loss was cutting out meat to once a week, candy to once a week, no soda, hella water, let yourself feel hungry (it’s good). But yeah soz that this is all scattered but yeah the first 3 months I was down 25-30lbs. You have to want it bad tho !
Thank you. This information is very helpful. I will use this information to help me lose some more weight and tone my body as well as changing my mindset on what I think and feel about myself.
i got braces in 8th grade, and even when i got them off i barely ate chips, cookies, candy, etc because i couldnt. this made me stop craving it and everything bc i literally couldnt.. this is how i stopped nail biting also because i got acrylics for 4 weeks and the habit just left my brain! i replaced these things with juices, water, and FRUIT. i eat like a carton of blueberries a day and have fruit with every single meal and for snacks.
i have had a similar experience whilst working on my own health and wellness journey! i'm so happy to see others choosing to put their happiness and health over unrealistic nonsense. the best thing anyone can do to lose weight, coming from someone who has struggled with her weight on and off most of her life, is to utilize self-compassion, mindfulness, persistence and becoming who you want to be NOW! i have successfully kicked my own tendency to emotionally eat within the last few months, and i no longer overeat (i feel fullness more appropriately now). on point as always, thanks for being here and sharing your wisdom, mae!
thanks for sharing, i wish you the best 🙏🏼 I’m so proud of myself bc i also feel finally full after eating normal meals, it’s so free!! mindfulness is so important
@@ohkadde6621 thank you, lovely, i hope you continue to find success as well! it really is so freeing, and i'm glad we can both experience a healthier relationship with food 🥹
i completely understand what you mean when you talk about your mom and ‘chronic dieting’. my mom was an avid dieter - and she never did go though with them (they were insane diets!) but i feel very guilty when i start to lose weight and get fit just because she was never able to follow all the way through. its stopped my progress several times
I learned from a young age to diet because my mum was always on one, but damn she succeeded. I never have. She has the most diabolical willpower I've literally ever witnessed. She'd eat nothing but watermelon until she was so hungry she'd allow herself one meal. That was usually every three days lol. Or she'd do the pritikin diet, WW, whatever it was, she'd drop heaps of weight fast through pure steely will. She'd keep it off at least a year usually. Sadly I inherited none of that willpower. Just her unhappiness with how we look.
My mom was a chronic dieter and exerciser. She was religious in following Joannie Greggains and we both worked out with her. These days, I do kickboxing but the workouts are about 12 minutes to burn over 100 calories after breakfast
wow i think this might be the most useful video on weight loss I have seen in a WHILE, you really explained so many struggles and how to deal with it, this is literally everything i needed to hear! thankyou so much for putting this out there
thank you so much for this! I’ve been trying to lose weight and it’s been so hard for me. I’m hoping whatever needs to take place in My mind finally takes place and sticks.
Hey, fellow snacker here: it really helps me to have a bowl that just barely fits a serving of a snack. I got mine at an Asian grocery store but if you go into a regular store and look at the condiment dishes, you should be able to find one that's about half a cup. This will hold a serving of cheezits. Many serving sizes for snackish foods are about the same size. I would measure it out at least the first time, put the bag away, and walk off to eat the snack away from the kitchen so it takes longer to get back to it/doesn't feel like it is worth the effort to go back for more. And there is nothing wrong with going back for more, just a reminder that each snack bowl is a serving towards your overall intake.
@EcstaticTeaTime The crazy part is my wife has those exact cups at home. I've never used them, but I will now. I usually do intermittent fasting, and it will work for a while. I'm a trucker and some days stress me out more than others and I binge while driving and then that leads into the next day and so on. Next thing I know, I've gained all the weight back. If I keep the foods out of reach or in hard to access areas I'm usually good about staying on track with fasting. Portion control is definitely my weakest point so I'm definitely going to try and use this cup. Thanks for the feedback!
@@Kidrobot016hi! as someone who struggles with binge eating while working, i think you should try meal prepping the day before work or the morning of, im not sure what youre schedule looks like. if you can find a set of meals that has everything you need like your protein, carbs, fiber, etc. you can pack it in a lunchbox for the road. i can understand how difficult it might be to get a meal in before or after work but if you condition yourself to try, you can most definitely make a change for it. the only way to change what we want to is to do something different! even if making meals is too much, you can even snack on something healthier like fruits or pair it with something savory.
Girl! I love this! I also had suuch a terrible relationship with food and hated exercise, but changing my relationship about exercise makes me love it! It’s a reward for me and it feels so nice.
This is the best non toxic video about losing weight. It’s been such a struggle for me to find something that works and often videos I searched made me feel so insecure and put me back into ED mindsets. This is the best thing I’ve seen about losing weight. Healthy relationships with food is so important
Thank you for this. I started many of these practices on my current weight-loss journey and this is so true! These changes in mindset is making this feel more natural and sustainable over time and I am starting to feel and look better naturally. I want to LIVE the life of the version of myself that is healthy and balanced.
This is great advice, I’ve lost around 30 pounds and have struggled with binge eating and food noise, what really helped me: 1. Healing the gut! So real actually. Having fermented foods like yoghurt, pickled ginger, sauerkraut . If you are desperately craving a food, that is a massive sign that your body is missing something nutritionally! And I didn’t believe it till I started acc focusing on my gut but I feel full and stable all day now. 2. focusing on healthy fats. I was taking a lot of weight loss tips from like, gymbros lol and they focus on low fat higher carb diets BUT as a WOMAN fats are soooo important for hormones + satiety. Carbs are cool but dropping them slightly in favour of having more fat helped me alot (things like avocados and walnuts) 3. Not everything that works for others will work for you! I used to eat oats every morning for breakfast because I thought that was the healthy thing. I always felt bloated and got hungry / energy crashes. When I switched to a Greek yoghurt breakfast with protein, nuts and seeds, I noticed immediate improvements in my digestion and how I felt. However you might eat the same thing and feel awful! Experiment and find out what suits your individual needs 3. Track calories but don’t obsess, take breaks as needed and monitor your weight over the course of weeks rather than days. If you haven’t lost any weight and it’s been like 2 weeks, you will need to adjust either calories or exercise. 4. It takes time! Don’t give up. You will have periods where you’re doing great and periods where things feel chaotic and off track. You’re in it for the long game ! 😊
I thought i was the only one who felt like that about oatmeal. I would eat my first meal(oatmeal) at around 12pm and before 2pm I'd be looking for what to eat. Once i switched to having bigger SAVOURY breakfasts/brunches, i started feeling satiated!
And another thing about weight! Everyone has different bodies so how we all respond is different based on what we consume and the workout regimes we have. 2-3weeks is an excellent bench mark! For some, it may even take around a month to see results. It depends on the exercises as those that include weight training may build muscles which may tip the scale higher instead of lower. Weight will always fluctuate so track calories and weight but be mindful and don't punish yourself! Just make adjustments accordingly in a healthy way and have fun with the journey 😊
Love the focus on enjoying your diet and the way you exercise in this video, and also how you talk about how to make this sort of lifestyle sustainable!
This video is so real. Body positivity and all the noise around pcos made me believe that I can’t lose weight and even if I don’t it’s okay. I lived my life like this and I was depressed and slowly I became less and less confident and stopped going out and became this insecure person. Then one day I decided I have to change because being unhealthy and having bad eating habits will eventually start making permanent damage to your body. So I wanted to start before it’s too late. I started doing Pilates, yoga, gym, eating healthy, quit sugar, used RUclips meditation and hypnosis for binge ED, started walking more and more. Then I simplified my routine as I was doing too much. Still my weight wasn’t decreasing as much UNTIL I started portion controlling. The day I started eating healthy portions and in calorie Deficit, my weight just melted off. I have lost 10 kilos so far but now it’s easy as f. I go to gym 3 times a week, do pilates 6 times a week, walk daily, high quality protein supplements, no added sugar, no processed food, and maintain a calorie deficit even with healthy foods. I’m losing weight daily. I’m glad I found out what I was doing wrong.
Something that has helped me along with the “the snacks will always be there” mindset is keeping the bad foods out of the pantry for the most part. I love baking, so instead of having ready made sweets that you can mindlessly eat I have to really want one and I have to make it from scratch or have healthy sweet treat alternative recipes to try! Alot of times just having a jar of hard candies if I just NEED a sweet. Finding alternatives that I still love eating is KEY.
This is awesome. I've seen some of these tips before, but it's either your delivery or where I am in life (or both) that really made this sink in. Keep up the great work on your channel!
Girl your tip about the gut health was a fucking godsend. I went from constantly craving junk to almost never snacking and having a MUCH easier time with portion control because I started taking 120million cfu probiotic supplements a day after watching this. I was about to give up. Had no idea gut health was so important. THANK YOU
Alternate day fasting changed my relation to food completely. I used to binge eating all day long, bc of stress or even boredom. Now I see food as nourishment only. No cravings for sweets, no snacks between meals. My stomach shrunk, so that I cannot eat the amount of meal I used to eat. Never thought that this could be possible for me. Fasting really not only heals your body but also your mental health. If I could do it, so everyone can.
I'm still on weight loss journey but I have lost 25 pounds so far. I realized the same thing that you did that food was only hobby and the only thing I was allowing myself to enjoy in my life. I would only take breaks while studying for food or snacks or when I was feeling down so that became my go to. Instead, I started drawing and doodling mandalas, henna style drawings, and pencil shading all from free courses on RUclips. This has helped me so much because I schedule that break time, I no longer associate it with food and food alone. I also began doing breathwork as due to my migraines I can't do intense cardio and I'm surprised at how well it makes me feel. I also think educating yourself on metabolism, food, and nutrition is so important for your weight loss journey. It really helps you see through the gimmicky posts on social media. Nothing can reset your body, metabolism, or cortisol instantly. It always comes down to the same things that you need to nourish your body. I , at a point in my life for a few years, told myself that now wasn't the time that I could focus on weight loss and I think that helped me in a sense because I was never jumping from one diet to another. Instead I admitted to myself that I'm not taking good care of myself and I need to when things are better mentally in my life. I realized that replacing food with books and drawing and other things that gave me that dopamine release also helped my mental health. For people who can't afford therapy, I highly recommend looking into CBT workbooks as those helped me a lot as well. I stopped viewing food as my only reward, instead I replaced it with small activities I enjoy or things I actually want such as activity books or a new sketch pad. Another change I made along these lines was telling myself I'm too busy to eat whatever I'm craving, I'll order it in 30 minutes or when I'm done working or tomorrow when I'm off. I don't know if it was just me but sometimes not having that dopamine rush of immediately ordering would just kill the joy for me. In fact while my dopamine levels were adjusting in my body concerning food, I went through a phase where unhealthy things that I enjoyed didn't taste that good anymore. Lastly, I viewed this process as nourishing my body whether it was eating adequate levels of protein, taking my mineral supplements, balancing out my blood sugar, or just drinking enough water. I told myself now is the time to truly take care and nourish my body.
I picked up playing disc golf for the past couple years and it's helped me lose weight. Any sport that makes you want to perform better creates healthy habits. I stopped drinking soda, stopped drinking alcohol, go to the gym 3 times a week and make sure I eat more protein. I used to over eat as well.
I think this is my favorite video about weight loss and diet. The way you explained various way to change your mindset and poor eating habits was incredibly satisfying for me. It just makes sense. I was aware of some of the issues you brought up, but there were also some issues I hadn't thought of. I can't fight cravings, have a scarcity mindset causing me to overeat, and don't know how to build a healthier diet without depriving myself (and if I'm depriving myself of too much, it's not sustainable). But I feel like I can figure something out now. I found this advice very helpful!
This may sound like a silly, obvious thing to say, but one 'hack' that helps me just eat a bit healthier is not buying junk food to take and keep at home, i.e. a pack of cookies/a big bar of chocolate or big bag of chips. I say to myself I'll just have a sweet treat when I'm out somewhere like a cafe. This means I'll only have healthy/healthier food at home. As that's the only food immediately within my reach, I get used to eating it and my cravings for junk foods go away. Note: by 'healthy' foods I'm talking anything that isn't empty-calorie foods that are deep fried or sugary or highly salted. Eating healthy to me doesn't just mean eating vegetables and plain chicken, it's about eating lots of nutritious foods, mainly whole foods, lots of fruit and veg, and having a good balance of carbs, protein and fats.
Yes! We won’t have bad habits if we won’t buy junk food in the first place. The environment you place for yourself is what helps you achieve your life goals :D
this! I slip up sometimes but saving for a sweet treat that 100% tastes and makes you feel better than a packaged snack that I know I will finish in a few minutes that will make me feel physically sick and tired. It sucks not having snacks at home at times but making meals helps with mindful eating and 0 binges
I have to say, I always try this approach of not buying the junk food to begin with, but ultimately I end up craving it more and when I do give in and buy something I’m more likely to eat the whole thing in one sitting because I fear i won’t have it again as opposed to just having some at home that I can slowly eat. It’s hard either way, but just wanted to express that’s it not all or nothing
Wild how so much of this is mental. Most of us live life in hard mode trying to force ourselves to do things we hate but know are good for us. Wisdom is shifting your perspective and finding ways of being healthy that we love doing instead of focusing on the things we dread
this is amazing. these are all realizations i have had slowly over time but you list it all so succinctly and without mysterious language. you are wonderful !!
I was never a skinny kid I always had issues with binge eating but never wanted to admit I had issues with it and would eat for comfort when I hated how I looked but I’m 19 now and heavier than I’ve ever been, I was homeless for almost a year last year but moved in with family right before Christmas, i piled on weight but I’ve recently started going to the gym with one of my friends I’ve made in the last few months, finding habits and a diet that would work has been such a struggle because I feel like a lot of diets are so expensive and finding the motivation has been a process but just love the video the positive and specific info really helped ❤
This actually makes the most sense to me of anytime I have watched on weight loss. I am actually doing many of these things. I journal about past weights and what was going on at that time and connect it to now. That alone has made a huge difference. I’m not finished watching this but some of the detail of the mental and emotional work you are describing is wonderful, especially allowing yourself to lose weight. I was not allowing myself to lose weight. I was protecting myself in ways that now that I’ve done the journaling no longer need to. Weight loss in a combination of logic/math and habit changing mental/emotional work for me. The other thing I wanted to say is that I also learned NOT to listen to others ideas on food, food pushers, etc, and people at one point thin-shaming me. I gained some of the weight back because of them and am losing it again, and I’m for the shamers this time. I remember the weight I was when I felt and looked the best and I no longer care one iota what the nosey neighbors think
I watched so many videos about fat loss and dieting but this is the only one which actually made me stop, think and be excited for the journey. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, defo subscribing!
I've already known so many things you've mentioned in this video, and even tried to do them myself, but romanticizing the whole journey is something I've never thought about. thank you so much for making this video! i feel like this time, I might finally succeed.
These were actually really motivating and realistic things to think about and adopt into my life. I’m definitely going to take some of these mindsets on board

Thank you for this video, it’s so simple and practical as well as emphasizes being kind to yourself and finding a system that works for you to maintain a healthy lifestyle
This is such a healthy and wholesome video, Thank you Mae! I'm a hypnotist and I truly agree with the fact that we as a species are experiencing hypnosis day to day in an unconscious way, and when we switch to being conscious about its power and effect... the results can be limitless! I've experienced ED patterns as a teenager but it was in a subtle way so it took me a while to recognize the patterns. I find your honesty, vulnerability, and kindness to be so very refreshing! Wishing you all the best!
I've been struggling with my relationship with food for years and have finally been fixing it for myself not just to lose weight but to have a healthy mindset and for my mental health and this definitely helped thank you
I was watching this video on my TV, but I had to pick up my phone to comment. You went off in this video, homie. This is EXACTLY what is working for me! Down 20lbs, 20 more to go. After 10 years yoyoing, everything you said is what works. More so meditation than hypnosis, but everything else for sure. What a densely informational video to help people unlearn behaviors that don't serve them anymore- just.. wow. Thank you!!
this video helps more than you think. ive been struggling with BED and food noise for years now and never found an effective or healthy way to deal with it. this video has shown me methods i never even considered or heard of. thank you so much
I was 200 lbs 4 years ago and I’m currently 149 lbs. I know that doesn’t seem like a fast weight loss but that’s because it took me so long to figure out the stuff that worked for me and figuring out my triggers that made me want to binge eat. I also had some thyroid problems I was trying to get leveled out. Some people are capable of streamlining weight loss and for others it can be such a long process of unlearning habits. I’m not even at my goal weight yet but I’m hoping by the end of the year I will have made it, anything else after that is just a bonus
This is so true. I lost almost 80 pounds by doing this. I’ve gained some weight back since but I was having a hard time getting back into this state of mind. So thank you for this ❤
Eat like a queen, workout like a warrior. This analogy works for me, romanticize my life as if I were in a royal movie hahaha
I absolutely love this idea!❤
omg fr
This is such a great framing, thanks for sharing!!
❤ oh my I love this
i love this so much, i'm keeping this quote as a reminder!
The person I want to be:
-she doesn’t obsess over exercise but remains active in her life.
“She’s me, I hope on the future.”
Hope is dependent on circumstance - it’s total BS.
If you desire something - fully commit and have faith, in yourself.
“In the future”
Why not now?
YOU CAN DO IT
I have a feeling that you have just described your NOW. You are fabulous ❤
Congrats 🎉
same. Food always made me happy so whenever I was sad or bored I would eat it. Thank god I’ve finally rewired my brain lol
Congrats on your success. I hope to have the same mental change I am struggling
Same mate ❤
Thank you for your story. But WHAT did you do, that you change your mental state?
You are SO REAL for this. The two that stuck out to me are: find an exercise that you enjoy doing, and make sure you only eat foods you enjoy. I love walking, so I’ve made walking my hobby. I bought cute pink walking shoes, and I just walk and walk while enjoying the fresh air. I do at least 10k steps per day, usually more. And I’ve stopped overeating because I only eat foods that I actually love! I fell in love with eating yummy, nourishing foods. Sometimes I'll eat something unhealthy and I usually regret it because my tummy hurts after!
Congratulations on your new YOU! Same for me😊
People SLEEP on walking! That’s how I lost 35 lbs! I walked 10-15k steps 5x a week and it helped tremendously. That with intermittent fasting.
Congrats!! 💗💕
do you have destination in your walks or other targets that help you walk more?
@@reverse5355just put on a podcast or music and try to go different routes from time to time if you have the ability. Nature is also often very captivating if you pay attention to it.
YOGA. YOGA. YOGA. i loveeee yoga and ab workouts SO MUCH. when i was younger i wanted to be a gymnast, so these workouts are the closest i feel to one haha! i feel like im playing everytime i do it.
Congratulations, this is a huge accomplishment and should be talked about more!
I grew up like that too but as an adult, if I can't finish something then I'll just put it in the fridge for my next meal plus more food if it's not enough
I get u thats why now i have a binge eating disorder because of that balkan mindset
Same with Punjabi culture. And as a kid you have to listen to your elders and parents. I say fuck em now. People in my family like to bully and shame me for “not eating enough.” But now I just know they’re jealous. I love when my waist looks snatched and titties don’t feel heavy and my back no longer hurts 😇
yess! It is so hard to give up this habit

I'm realizing that now... after getting fat and unhealthy. Go figure, but at least now I'll be healthier
Sooo true!
Slooowly increasing my intake of fiber and prebiotics (especially resistant starch foods) was a GAME changer! A great example of adding good stuff to your diet instead of constantly cutting the "bad" stuff out.
@@oliviafagin293can you give some examples of those foods hehe thank you trying to get more nutrition in
This has helped me SO. MUCH.
1: exercise isnt a punishment for eating good food
2: don't restrict yourself.
Yep, it’s all mental! I applied the same exact principle in #2 to alcohol and I drink SO much less than I used to these days ❤
THOSE AREN'T ALL THE TIPS, I WROTE THE ONES THAT, FOR ME, ARE UNIQUES IN THIS VIDEO, AS I THINK THE WHOLE VIDEO IS PRETTY USEFUL. I RECOMMEND WATCH IT COMPLETE
1. Visualize how you want to be (Write down)
2. Be conscious about how you feel and why you can't lose weight
3. Look for another "obsession"
4. Stop sabotage yourself in dieting
5. Control your portion instead of restricting yourself
6. Don't lie to yourself
7. The snacks are always there. You can eat it later, doesn't need i be right now
8. Gut health
9. Don't put food on a pedestal
10. Eat protein in every meal
11. Your habits need to be enjoyable
12. Be aware about your triggers

I really like how you're being honest and respectful at the same time, this video is so right on time for me, this is my 100th time trying over again not only to lose weight but also becoming a better version of myself, and you gave such a new approach to it for me! Since last January I’ve lost 40lbs (was 180lbs at 5’1 and now I’m 140lbs on avg!) I still have 20 more to go but guys! Literally just start with 3 main habits/micro habits:
1. Drink minimum 6 cups of water a day
We got this
Thanks for tips! I'm around your initial weight and a tad bit taller but my goal is to lose 50 lbs. How long did you work out (for 30 mins etc)?
I will use this information to help me lose some more weight and tone my body as well as changing my mindset on what I think and feel about myself.
were there any foods that are helping u out in this journey? im struggling with my nutrition tbh 😭
i got braces in 8th grade, and even when i got them off i barely ate chips, cookies, candy, etc because i couldnt. this made me stop craving it and everything bc i literally couldnt.. this is how i stopped nail biting also because i got acrylics for 4 weeks and the habit just left my brain! i replaced these things with juices, water, and FRUIT. i eat like a carton of blueberries a day and have fruit with every single meal and for snacks.
i have had a similar experience whilst working on my own health and wellness journey! i'm so happy to see others choosing to put their happiness and health over unrealistic nonsense. the best thing anyone can do to lose weight, coming from someone who has struggled with her weight on and off most of her life, is to utilize self-compassion, mindfulness, persistence and becoming who you want to be NOW! i have successfully kicked my own tendency to emotionally eat within the last few months, and i no longer overeat (i feel fullness more appropriately now).
on point as always, thanks for being here and sharing your wisdom, mae!

i completely understand what you mean when you talk about your mom and ‘chronic dieting’. my mom was an avid dieter - and she never did go though with them (they were insane diets!) but i feel very guilty when i start to lose weight and get fit just because she was never able to follow all the way through. its stopped my progress several times
I understand
These days, I do kickboxing but the workouts are about 12 minutes to burn over 100 calories after breakfast

thank you so much for this! I’ve been trying to lose weight and it’s been so hard for me. I’m hoping whatever needs to take place in My mind finally takes place and sticks.
Im literally snacking while watching this and going, "Idont need this whole bag." This was really neat way to look at weight loss. Good job!
This is the only and best way to look at weight loss that has worked for me and really been truly happy with.

This might be one of the better and more realistic help vids for people who have a dodgy relationship with food - glad I found your channel
This is great advice, I’ve lost around 30 pounds and have struggled with binge eating and food noise, what really helped me:
Carbs are cool but dropping them slightly in favour of having more fat helped me alot (things like avocados and walnuts)
3. Experiment and find out what suits your individual needs
Fantastic advice!
I thought i was the only one who felt like that about oatmeal. I would eat my first meal(oatmeal) at around 12pm and before 2pm I'd be looking for what to eat. Once i switched to having bigger SAVOURY breakfasts/brunches, i started feeling satiated!
I think the crushes after oatmeal is bcs it’s starch and makes our blood sugar spike :) great advice, thank you
Top-tier comment!!! ✨💖✨
Honestly these pieces of advice are so good, they might be game changers!
Love the focus on enjoying your diet and the way you exercise in this video, and also how you talk about how to make this sort of lifestyle sustainable!
Just found your channel and I'm obsessed! Manifesting all your great advice.
Seriously my favorite person on the internet right now. Thank you ❤
I picked up playing disc golf for the past couple years and it's helped me lose weight.
The environment you place for yourself is what helps you achieve your life goals :D
yeah that’s a really good idea
This video is GOLD!
i love the way you delivered this, a great balance of compassion and self-awareness, while also being "strict" (read: honest) with yourself
When the “before” body is your goal.
this is amazing. these are all realizations i have had slowly over time but you list it all so succinctly and without mysterious language. you are wonderful !!
I’m going to watch this every morning to remind myself who I want to be.
I watched so many videos about fat loss and dieting but this is the only one which actually made me stop, think and be excited for the journey. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, defo subscribing!
Girl, you are on fire 🔥. So inspiring, I was here since 4k, you deserve it so much❤
I've already known so many things you've mentioned in this video, and even tried to do them myself, but romanticizing the whole journey is something I've never thought about. thank you so much for making this video! i feel like this time, I might finally succeed.
Wow this is a video I NEEDED to see! It all makes so much sense
These were actually really motivating and realistic things to think about and adopt into my life. I’m definitely going to take some of these mindsets on board
this is the realest advice ever. thank you sm!!
This is the most relatable, healthy, realistic and at the same time helpful weight loss video I've seen on YT. Many of the points you mentioned I realized some time ago, it was great to hear the same from somebody else. Thank you for the video.
thank you for being honest about breakfast. i’ve NEVER been a breakfast person. i just can’t eat early in the morning and every health video makes it seem like im starving myself by not eating breakfast. I just eat bigger meals for lunch and dinner!
This video is sooooooo underated!!!! This is the BEST video about weight loss ive seen. Ive been struggling with my weight for years and feeling insecure about myself, but this video was so good and indightful as ive been startibg a new weightloss journeey and this is was sooo so helpful

Thank you sm because I need to literally lock in for this academic year for me
I've always been pretty skinny, but I've been finding that I've been gaining weight recently. This was an amazing video to help me get back on track. thanks! ♡♡♡♡
as a 13 year old it’s hard to balance out school and working out and cause i’m ngl im a VERY lazy person. So i watch other people lose weight so it gives me motivation and inspiration. You definitely gave me that. I want to be like you and have the motivation. I haven’t been consistent and i wish i was and i’m trying to get there.
i love you pookie!! you just helped me break a cycle
Thank you for this video, it’s so simple and practical as well as emphasizes being kind to yourself and finding a system that works for you to maintain a healthy lifestyle
I feel that Honesty is the apex of the plan.(very proud of you MAE).
YESS THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS❤
this is a fantastic video. redirecting your attention is SO important. thank you for reminding me
This is such a healthy and wholesome video, Thank you Mae!
What a densely informational video to help people unlearn behaviors that don't serve them anymore- just.. wow. Thank you!!
this video helps more than you think. ive been struggling with BED and food noise for years now and never found an effective or healthy way to deal with it. this video has shown me methods i never even considered or heard of. thank you so much
I love the way you articulate things, it is so easy to take in the information. Thank you for sharing 🫶🏼
you're a queen for these captions. thank you!
this is the most relatable video i have ever watched. She is me i am her
This was one of the most helpful videos I ever watched, thank you
this video is amazing, it covers everything that i spend 2 years to realise!
honestly girl dont delete this xoxo love
I was 200 lbs 4 years ago and I’m currently 149 lbs. I know that doesn’t seem like a fast weight loss but that’s because it took me so long to figure out the stuff that worked for me and figuring out my triggers that made me want to binge eat. I also had some thyroid problems I was trying to get leveled out. Some people are capable of streamlining weight loss and for others it can be such a long process of unlearning habits. I’m not even at my goal weight yet but I’m hoping by the end of the year I will have made it, anything else after that is just a bonus
Great video! Thank you so much 🥰It seems like it should be so simple but the struggle can be real but it can also get easier. Mindset is everything!
This is so true. I lost almost 80 pounds by doing this. I’ve gained some weight back since but I was having a hard time getting back into this state of mind. So thank you for this ❤
Yesss she put it perfectly, such a good mindset
Your struggles resonate soo much with me. I'm going to try to follow your tips!
Possibly one of the best weight loss videos I’ve seen
