GBO2 Gundam EX: Is the Netflix Gundam too good?

- This video contains two matches I had with the recently released LV1 Gundam EX on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 400 cost general with a fairly well rounded kit, great melee damage, two instant staggers, good mobility and a new jumping skill that allows it to hop around the battlefield. Its weaknesses would be that it has mediocre stagger accumulation, awkward melee recovery times alongside having no easy way to chain its instant staggers together. The developers have really surprised me, here I thought that this suit was gonna be OP, but they actually managed to make a really fun suit that is at the same time, very well balanced. I hope that you enjoy watching!
Its primary weapon is a beam rifle with 1300 (1850) power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 60% (85%) heat, 14 seconds overheat, 0.77 seconds swap time, 300m (400m) range, 3 seconds focus time and 10% (20%) stagger value. This is overall an inferior version of the original Gundam's beam rifle, except for the fact that it pierces when charged. You can chain a stun from this into your bazooka against enemies without Maneuver Armor, but it isn't always consistent.
Its primary melee weapon is a beam saber with 1800 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap time, 75%x2 downswing modifier and 60% combo modifier. This can deal pretty high damage, but the downswing is too slow to go from a downswing into another downswing, so you need to follow-up with your other melee weapon for max damage.
Its first sub weapon is a head vulcan with 50x2 power, 40 ammo, 400 RPM, 10 seconds reload, 0.5 seconds swap time, 150m range, 667 DPS and 3%x2 stagger value. This has decent DPS and stagger value on paper, but it only has 20 ammo effectively. It is best used after a bazooka shot if you need stagger accumulation.
Its second sub weapon is a bazooka with 1500 power, 4 ammo, 6 seconds cooldown, 12 seconds reload, 1.77 seconds swap time, 300m range and 60% stagger value. This has overall amazing performance for a sub weapon bazooka, especially a 400 cost one. It has the downside of having poor rocket velocity though, making it hard to use at longer ranges.
Its third sub weapon is the suits bare hands with 1600 power, 2 seconds cooldown, 0.33 seconds swap time, 190% downswing modifier and 70% combo modifier. The regular swings on this are short ranged, but the downswing is a fast start-up kick with incredible power and range. It has long recovery if you use it close up though, alongside being tricky to connect with against knocked over enemies.
Its fourth sub weapon is a shoulder gatling gun with 120 power, 60 ammo, 600 RPM, 18 seconds reload, 0.5 seconds swap time, 300m range, 1200 DPS and 1% stagger value. This has pitiful stagger value, but really good DPS. It is good to use after a stun or for when you don't want to get in the way of your allies.
It also has a large shield with 3500 HP. This has a fairly high amount of HP for a shield at 400 cost, but it boosts your walking and turning speed by 15% once it breaks.
The LV1 Gundam EX has 14500 HP, 19 ballistic/beam resist and 15 melee resist. It has pretty average durability, it isn't squishy but it isn't bulky. It gets not just LV1 Emergency Evasion, but also a new skill called Tactical Jump. This skill can be activated by tapping the jump button while holding a direction on the left analog stick while in the recovery animation for a melee swing or after a landing. If activated, your MS will hop in the direction held. These jumps also consume 30% less thrust than normal, and you have instant stagger resistance during them.
It also has 130 (133 including affinity) walking speed, 190 boosting speed, 60 thrust and 66 (72 including affinity) turning speed. It lacks Forced Injectors and Flight Control, but it feels really nimble. It handles a lot better than most 400 cost generals, it even feels like it has good strafing speed modifiers.
In conclusion, I think that the Gundam EX is pretty powerful, but not cost breaking. It definitely feels like the developers were very considerate with their balancing choices. For example, the vulcans don't have much ammo, the melee downswings have fairly long recovery, the gatling gun can't stagger, the beam rifle isn't that strong on its own, the bazooka projectile has poor velocity, it isn't too durable and it is vulnerable to raw melee swings if it just spams the tactical jump skill. Not to discount its strengths at all, but it is not a suit that will be able to roll over the entire cost without effort, it feels well balanced. I just wish that the developers would go back and rework the older 400 cost generals to be this well thought out. Thanks for watching, and I hope that you enjoyed it!

What is the new map? Never seen it before, especially ever since my PS4 broke down.
Meanwhile the Grandpa is still crying for a reasonable buff and wanting its Bazooka as a Subweapon.
More like Double Beam Sabers secondary weapon...
more like fix the napalm beam rifle
At this point I fully expect them to instead just release a The Origin version of the RX-78-2 as a 3 or 4 star.
@@immoralboi3158 I want an origin version for a shoulder cannon, but the original '79 version NEEDS that buff.
I can't actually believe they made it to be as jump spammy in game as it was in show, its beautiful
any ms can jump spam but they haven't get any love
That jump kick needs to be on a Char Zaku.
It's really sad that so much thought was put into balancing the Gundam EX for 400 cost. Meanwhile OG gramps still suffers from not having any buffs.....
The devs turned 400 cost into street fighter 😂
700 on PC even more soon
"Rider Jump! Rider Kick!"
This suit such a breath of fresh air after the monstrosities we gotten this past few months
You'd think that this suit out of all the others would be the OP one. I guess they felt they needed to make the obscure MS more enticing to spend tokens on, and they didn't think they needed extra incentive for a main Gundam from a new show
I never thought I would see a Mobile Suit with Armored Core movement in GBO2 but I was proven wrong for either the better or worse (let's be real, it is probably for the worst if it is a high rarity mobile suit lmao).
I had a theory that the GM Sniper II WD might be able to counter this thing in a leg break build. And while I did break one’s legs really quickly, I came across another issue: its shield is fucking massive.
The idea was that it would be easy to shoot its legs while it’s slowly moving through the air, but in practice you end up hitting the shield 80% of the time.
Saw a dude on reddit call it gm sniper 2 food or something
@@angellara7040 Damn that guy had the same thought then. Maybe I’m not that great with it, but I couldn’t find the success I was looking for.
@@Sai1523 Maybe try different angle instead of doing it head on
@@IYIisterJacky I mean, in the instances where I got leg breaks it was facing the left so it’s shield wasn’t exposed to me. The problem is that you can’t exactly control what direction your opponent is always going to be facing. Sometimes they are coming towards you, sometimes they are turning.
If you'd told me before that a suit in this game was getting a jump-cancel and overhead, I probably would have just laughed
Yet here we are
His gameplay looks EXtremely fun. Jumping around blasting and shadow kicking lol
That first game is like the least greedy gameplay I've ever seen you post. I'm so proud rn.
He’s growing up before our eyes
Its kick covers half the map and has a massive range
I NEED it
Kinda cool how they managed to give it its combat style from the show with the new hopping skill.
EX Gundam to newbie:
Son, we HOP in this military!
Im actually so glad it wasn't as op as i expected. Even with this Gundam EX running around, 400 cost is still as fun.
Should have named the title: "The Perfect Gundam of 400 Cost"
It's not *that* strong, though. EX-Boost is a really strong tool, but the EX has obvious weaknesses in its kit to balance out the strong skill.
Rip OG gundam. Suppose to be more superior 😂.
Should've been above 400, this thing looks pretty OP for a 400 cost
This is what hell is like for Zeon soldiers.
I swear I was waiting for this video to drop all day from you lol! 400 cost cheat code formal very good suit I think it'll hang with the 450 cost as well. that was a nail biter at the end of the first match I thought y'all won but it still was a GG! the second match was clockwork for you guy str8 eating on the field GG's. your performance encourages others to play with the other suits thank you for all you videos.i always enjoy watching you kick butt!
rip to that dude at 2:34 who got toppled by their own teammate lmao
BB added frogs into the game before giving Johnny ridden his own decal
Feels weird to have a really detailed yet simple suit.
I think its good, not broken at least.
wait for nightingale review
4:55 LORE ACCURATE
😂
It's that time of the month where everybody's using the same bloody mobile suit LMAO.
EX is the newest cool kid on the block.
Really wish this was how they be releasing suit, not clearly overpowered inflated stat, just different flavor so u get to see all manner of suit in a match.
Is it just me or does it's beam rifle look like the Guncannons?
that kick animation is fking awesome.
It's also on the ewac nero
I hope the Netflix's E GM might be for next one or the Zaku ll?
Pls BB let us use the three machine guns on the shield
Can't wait for Requiem for Vengeance Zakus to drop!!!
"Should we buff old suits?" "Nah let's put all the things people have been asking for on the new ones so they have to do gacha pulls for it" (kinda joking but it's slowly making more sense with every new suit)
Love the suit, hope this gives the devs more encouragement to buff the grandad
Some Ideas for Gundam buffs:
-Broken shield allows for dual saber use
-Vulkans with way better build stun/ or at least more ammo and rof
- (this one may be iffy) two part charged attack where gundam will launch upward and out with a saber but you have to time the melee by pressing the slash button at some point in the air, gundam will end in the iconic pose for a split sec or two longer if a miss, I include two parts as to not make it as absurd as the PG. A succesful hit will allow the gundam to make another high speed movement as soon as touchdown so that it can act on the knock down enemy
They need to buff the OG gundam. The OG gundam is supposed to perform way better.
Who said? According to the bio of u.c engage the stripped down armor was to enhance mobility and speed
My thoughts from fighting it:
1. It's alright, nothing special.
2. I wouldn't hate it if i got one, i still love my Ez-8.
3. It looks like a lego skeleton
HOLY SHIT IT REALLY DOES LOOK LIKE A LEGO SKELETON
We really need part that allows us to deal more damage to shield
I know nothing of this suit, but I know it must be painted green and called frogger.
Or strip with orange
Saying this suit isn't OP is a understatement, as most folks haven't understood this suit yet. It's a nimble bunnyhopping machine with a midair melee skill and a insta downswing with huge reach and speed and a goddamn damage, going over 4k damage on raids in a single hit. And a skill to allow them to literally escape most bad situations due to infinite thruster for a few seconds.
When people start spamming divekick ambushes you guys will see how doomed the 400 cost is.
This is the new pixie. But actually capable of midranging, not a raid and not paper-thin squishy. The lack of stealth is a minor nuisance when you can outrun most suits by jumping the hell outta range and specially exploiting the game's low turning speed
It looks really great in the GBO2 art style
The role dodge was cold at 5:20
Gundams fighting in the O.C is crazy work.
5:32 oh the jumping can't be that bad!
I saw Gundam jumping like a kangaroo all over the place.
I play from play 5 and the game don' t starti because my network have a problem, how i can fix ?
Would love if some of the Stardust memories suits like the Zaku II F2 got those jumps!
Trying to figure out if Ironman designed this MS
that jump attack is so freaky...lmao
And i have a crazy theory that they will buff the OG Gundam...but only when this game will be close to shutting down. Reasons? i dunno
Sources? The loud voices in my head
Bruh this suit looks so fun lmao
Nice Armored Core 6 gameplay
Judging by the damage to the legs, I'd say a HP-to-Leg conversion would be a good idea.
Just maximize that mobility.
Jumpy boi
The og gundam deserves better bruh
So true
True
I know the grandad gundam needs something, but i would love for the Ez-8 to have the option of dual wielding the 180 mm machine guns like the Mass Production Guncannon, like it did in the Greed games intro.
Honestly, I’m more interested in how the new map is. I don’t know if it alone will be enough to make me return to the game, but though those nightingale and stein buffs are also kind of surprising to see.
Who would win Between the RX-7-8 or Gundam EX (Netflix)?
Honestly this video deserved a better song.....
Nice
It's like they copied the animation speed of the series to the game.
I like how the devs cant think of anyway to address power creep thats killing the game than just throwing more of it in, call it "game balancing", and pat themselves on the back like they did a good job, meanwhile older units like Grandpa Gundam and Gouf Custom are rusting away because they cant compete even in casual settings because they still lack much needed skills and/or sub weapons.
it has ex boost too right?
is this better than underwater dominance and metal spider?
No. It's finicky to use
how can the mobile suite moving like it flying through the air?
Now i see why gouf costom lost the 2v1
From what pack does it drop from in GBO2??? Thanks in advance
What pack?
Currently it's just this week's banner. Though there is a 4-step banner for the week that guarantees you get one for doing 4 ten-pulls on that. That adds up to 105 tokens to guarantee you get it.
But it'll stay in the gacha for about a year, before going to RT, and then finally DP store.
@@scottwrathfon9872 I meant to say banner lol sorry
Is it wrong to feel disappointed they didn't give it some kind of unique counter?
It should've had that rocket punch off the push kick it did in the junk yard
@@angellara7040 honestly I'll settle for anything as long it's not a repeat counter we've seen already
Balance be damned, but it would've been cool if the EX would shred the other mobile suit's head with the minigun.
Bluelock s2 animation aahh kick
What the hell is going on, why is everyone jumping around all the time? Is it a special day or something?
@@angellara7040 ahh ok thanks.
@@MA5TAWOO I was wrong. The ex gets damage reduction and animation cancel when it jumps
Pixy luv this map
While its skills are like its design mid and lacking in certain areas in about 30 or 40 matches fighting against it players for some unknown reason rely on the down swing getting themselves caught by counters and losing legs almost instantly or hoping around like a moron to then get picked off by stray fire. It's a neat addition but maybe they should have given it more time in the oven like the Netflix series.
yes, it's too good
GBO2 are full of frogs now
The only thing I know is that the word nerf does not exist in the dictionary of the devs of this game. there are several unbalanced units and they don't even touch them, they kill the game on
But good video
Didn't they perform the pgtb twice? Obviously not enough but still
@@fenrir_Lokison9Cause the XI Gundam and Penelope are the new thing.
Turning 400 matches into Counter strike
lmao...what even is this flying kick
Can't wait for this b-hopping gundam to get to PC (if it does.)
...
Netfliz gundam pilots be like a 3 year old, 0 accuracy medium to long distance, and only chases moving things with beam saber
the show sucks
