    how come you used a circuit breaker from the alternator to the positive battery terminal? You said in case something happens but I've never seen a fuse or breaker from the alt to battery. Is that really needed?

    • @WikedWips
      @WikedWips  Год назад

      Hey, that 300amp fuse block has a manual reset in case of circuit overload. Also you wanna use a fuse in between the battery and the accessory which is the alternator in this case, so if there was some type of surge/overload....the alternator won't be damaged

      @@WikedWips Hey man, Thank You for the fast response. Ok, that makes sense. Guess I need to get me a $20 breaker before I do my Big 5 upgrade. BTW, your car is one of the most impressive, clean, and what appears to be Reliable builds I've ever seen on the VA chassis. Very cool. I have a 50th edition WRX with FBO and I thought my car was quick. Then I watched your highway pull and well...I had to go get a beer. Sat in my gaming room like Damn....my car might as well be a Camry wtf why didn't I just get the base STI it was the same damn price.... I can only imagine the amount of time and money you must have spent building such a beast, its truly a beautiful car man and I'm honestly happy to see cars like yours! Gives me something to aspire to for sure. Thanks for the video and for clearing up my confusion, both are appreciated, have a good one bro. *just subscribed, looking forwards to seeing more content after watching some other videos now, ya man you did one Hell of a job on your STI.

      @phillipjohnson4156 Hey brother, thank you for taking the time to check out the channel and looking deeper than just getting ur question answered. I'm a dad of 4, I'm not rich but I work hard af for everything I have and teach my kids the same. Thanks for noticing!!!! Also, as a sneak peak, rite now I'm building the transmission with IAGs sequential gears and some extras....Also if you have IG follow me on there @Wikedwips2.0

      @@WikedWips Your car is right up there with BaderBuilt, only your videos are better imho since you take the time to explain things. I do all the work on my car myself, and like you I work hard for whats mine and have even more respect for you bro as a father of 4. I hope your kids know they probably have the coolest dads out of everyone in school, driving around in a 700hp STI. And man is that clean! I grew up poor and I always noticed that I take better care of my stuff in general than most of my friends who grew up well off. Trust me, I noticed. Nice house too, yeah man I'm happy for you no doubt! The built transmission will make your car a legit racing machine and at that point one of the top STIs on RUclips, probably in the country. Always cool to see a hard working family man achieve such high levels as you have! Respect!

    Yo man, love your videos and your work... And I had a question... I'm getting ready to do the "Big 3" on my 2018 WRX but I'm noticing the Battery Terminal Sensor on the negative terminal (likely runs to the alternator) as well as some kind of 80a fuse on the positive terminal (likely runs to alternator). In your video, I didn't notice you had them. Did you remove them or bypass them?

    I never fused the alternator. Id the fuse blows you can be stranded. And 0 guage wire is very tuff.. i did the big 6

    • @WikedWips
      @WikedWips  6 месяцев назад

      If that fuse blew, nothing would happen as far as being stranded because I tested the breaker and it did not affect charging.

    The operating temperature of that fuse is listed as -10C to 50C on Amazon, while the average temperature of an engine bay is around 100C. Trying to determine whether I want to add a fuse to my big 3 upgrade and am worried that if I do it will melt when I'm at the track. Hard to find a fuse that even lists it's operating temperature, nevermind one rated above 100C. Have you had issues with that fuse holder melting or deforming?

    • @WikedWips
      @WikedWips  9 месяцев назад +1

      The fuse I installed is still running strong brother! I actually drove my car to a show that was a little over an hour away on Sunday....No issues...also to add, since that video my car has again been on the dyno because I finished the final touches with a sequential transmission.

    • @alanj1043
      @alanj1043 9 месяцев назад

      @@WikedWips Nice! Maybe I'll pick up that fuse and test it out disconnected in the engine bay to see if it can handle the temps. I've melted a fuse holder for my subwoofer before which was attached to the battery, though I found a replacement that held up fine under the same track day temps. So gonna be a little extra cautious with this one seeing how it would be sitting under the engine cover

  • @notverystealthy9165
    @notverystealthy9165 2 года назад +1

    That’s not a anl fuse bro it’s a circuit breaker! I prefer them over a normal fuse,

    • @WikedWips
      @WikedWips  2 года назад

      Remember ANL fuses are used in fuse holders and are run in-line between the battery and the object being protected. ANL fuses are larger and range from 100 to 300 amps while AFS fuses are smaller ranging from 40 to 125. Also ANL fuses have the highest capacity of any fuse type so these are ideal for high wattage systems...this just has the added Breaker protection 😀
