So I've had the boox note air for a year now, I'm a PhD student and this thing makes my life so much easier. I used to have an insane amount of paper notebooks. I love split screen, marking up articles, reading on it, having organized folders, having one drive and email access also makes it easier. With the keyboard it's so nice to travel with and be able to do work on it without taking my heavy computer.
Thanks to this channel I now own Papyr and I love it! I like to write on A4 paper and the size of the device is perfect for me. I love the option to share my screen when I am sharing some concepts with people on the zoom calls. Now that we have a chance to read books this device became even better. The customer service is awesome and they are listening to our needs and upgrading the software. Their response time is hours, not days... I advise this device to everyone and if the price could be lowered I would advocate for this device to be used in school so that kids wouldn't need to carry heavy bags on their backs (all the books and notebooks could be a pdf).
very informative coach...!!! I am following this channel from Switzerland and have already have some good advices thx to your help... have a great day...
I like the remarkable as a planner JB, I like that you can buy pdf diary’s with clickable links. Found a really good one on Etsy and use it daily and weekly for reviewing my time.
I use a Onyx Boox Nova 2. A little older now by Boox's relentless release schedule standards, although still perfectly usable. It's a nice size for reading books but is challenging when it comes to reading pdfs on a small 7.8" screen. Boox's native Neo Reader app is great, but often I find myself working against the device. It's often more complicated or counterproductive to do a task than seems necessary. So I'm in the market for a 13.3" device other than Max Lumi for pdfs. From all the review videos I've watched, the QuirkLogic Papyr stands out to me as most appealing. Great software, excellent customer service, collaboration, etc. Two drawbacks though: 1) No front light. Guess it's Boox or nothing regarding a 13.3", and 2) I can't justify buying into a system that uses the old Sony DPT hardware when the updated hardware is being used by Fujitsu. It's older even than the Nova 2 I'm using now. So I feel kind of in limbo waiting to see what Q1 of next year brings.
I have tried them all have landed on the max lumi 2 and nova3 air. The max lumi for the versatility, apps, back light, size, and split screen. To be able to have a book open in kindle, or scribd, or a pdf journal and be able to take notes on the other side of the screen is essential for my theological studies. I use the nova 3 air as a reader on the go and quick notes and thoughts while out and about, and they stay in sync between both devices. Love them both. On a side note the setup of the play store etc on the Boox devices has gotten easier. Had them up and running in about 15 minutes, apps installed etc.
Thanks,JB, for your analysis on the different note taking devices. As for my myself, ‘reMarkable’ has been my company ever since. I remember, that receiving my RM 1, it took me as while to get acquainted with it, taking notes. With the RM 2, I have started using the device for reading eBooks and I find it pretty good: The size is good and it’s easy to handle. I still use it for taking notes and that’s all I have asked for. Therefore, I guess, I’ll stay with that company, despite the minimalistic appearance.
I'm an engineer, I work in a factory, Im using the Nova Air 7.8", is one of the smallest, for me works really great, allows me to take it with me to the Production shopfloor, Í can draw machine problem sketches, I have my to do list, my agenda, I track my 1:1 sesions with the workers. I use it as reader in my way to the work. for my needs was the best chose. 10.3 are too big to grab them on daily basis to the shopflos, to the maintenance ares, to the meetings, to the office, to the bus, to the train, etc.
I use the reMarkable 2 as my notebook at work. I'm going to experiment with a planner on it (since I still use a paper planner). But it is amazing and has replaced all notebooks at work. Very convenient and handy. I also discovered it's handy for doing lectures and sample problems as a teacher. I also use a Boox Nova 3 as an e-reader for both Kindle and Nook. Also nice for surfing the web for text heavy pages.
I need/want something for school note-taking, story writing, drawing, pdf files, reading, etc. I want something close to pen and paper feel. And handwriting to text would be amazing. Recommendations would be much appreciated!! :)
I use the Mobiscribe Origin as my daily unit. My main uses are reading novels and taking notes in meeting and a bit of journaling. It's one of the smaller, cheaper units on the market, but its writing feel is great.
Hey can you tell how kong the nib lasts? Eyeing for one as my budget isn’t much, but worried if the nibs are gonna need a change too early or not (planning to take notes mostly at least for a year and also couldn’t find any possible source for buying extra nibs)
@@sadiaafrin4825 the nibs of the original stylus that comes with it don't last very long, maybe a couple of months of daily writing. I switched to the Staedtler Noris Digital Jumbo stylus, and its nibs last much longer. The feel is a bit more rubbery but it's a great stylus.
I LOVE my Book Note Air! It hosts all of my notes for classes and notes for books that I want to buy/borrow from the library. I have my Office apps downloaded to access my papers for school digitally to edit. I do love my Oasis which hosts all of my random books and my Kobo is specifically for my BOTM books as well as Book Club books. I have a friend who was looking into ReMarkable for the price point but is not interested in the subscription.
This was so great!! Love your channel!! Im still really torn. Im so glad you made a quiz and put it on your blog! Your the best! Thank you for continuing to think about your community needs! Happy New Year! So happy about your continued success and growth!! ❤️❤️❤️
I use to read a lot (mostly manga and light novel) is likebook P10 and I loved. Have a nice feel, works fine and is relatively low costo for 10 inch device and have Android.
Hey JB - always a great afternoon when your videos show up in my feed! I’m currently using an iPad Pro (12.9”, LTE, 2018) for notes/drawing/music creation, alongside my MacBook Air M1. Notability is my app of choice. I also have a previous-gen IPad mini I use for reading and audiobooks. Pre-pandemic, I worked as a traveling sales engineer, so access to PDFs, notes, diagrams inspired my purchase. In the time since, my Magic keyboard case failed, and I can’t justify spending $349~ for a new one. I’ve been eyeing the Boox devices for the past year or so. The Note Air 2 and the new Nova air look great. My next purchase will be either a boox device or the new iPad mini (5g cellular).
I love the RM2, but it is pricy. I was lucky to get in before the subscription so I have that functionality grandfathered in. Would I buy it now? - No, not with the subscription model.
I need something for reading and writing only with the least amount of distraction. For that reason, I'm leaning towards the Remarkable 2. However, I plan to read a lot more because I value having most of my notes in physical form rather than digital. Not sure of there is a better option than the remarkable 2 for me out there. I do like a big screen and still want the option to write on the go. What do you think?
If you only want to read and write with least distraction, I recommend the Supernote. If you're more of a sketcher, then I would recommend the Remarkable 2.
For somebody who is looking at a kobo libra 2 but already owns an iPad and is after a way to consume epub books, would you say that the duderoo e ink screen protector is good enough to avoid buying an e reader and repurposing my old iPad? Usually I find reading on technology to hurt my eyes but thought I'd take a chance with this e ink technology (Libra 2)
I was using ipad pro but didn't like that I had to charge everyday and the light in the eyes. I just got a remarkable 2 but it converts text fine but it has trouble with numbers. Especially if you make a list. I am waiting for my supernote to come in Jan. I also have an elipsa which converts better than the remarkable 2 and it has a light you can turn off or on.
Hi JB, this was a very nice video. I too have an iPad Pro 12.9 which I largely use for media consumption and occasionally for drawing. I do not find it conducive to taking notes while reading books etc. I guess what I would really like would be a smaller device. I think the iPad mini fits that bill. But I do not know if it is easier to use to read books and take notes at the same time :)
I think. . . I might get a used boox 7.8" in either nova2/nova 3/2 air. As they are cheaper & it seems they are all getting updates. And if i dont take to it, it will still be a good reader for the fam or myself. If i take to it. Then i won't mind going for a 10.3/13.3 and spending a little more.
I purchased Fujitsu Quaderno Gen 2's in A4 and A5 size. I want the lightest weight possible. Amazing devices, no features. I am good with the limitations. I no longer use my Supernote, Boox, Papyr, or Remarkable 2 anymore. I just could not find the combination of weight and form factor that I wanted until the Quaderno Gen 2. The Quaderno Gen 2 has a plastic screen versus glass and the writing feel is as good or better than Remarkable.
@@morningcoach Thank you so much for your quick answer! *Hopelessly awaiting Apple to jump into the E-Ink game* I had to return the remarkable 2 and bought the Supernote. Not fully happy with either - I'm thinking about the new Max Lumi or Notes. But then you tell me there's a new Papyr on the way? Okay, I'm going to have to wait this out a bit more.
Hopeless is right 😂. I’ve always been an Apple fan boy, but it’s simply not tenable to read deeply on their devices. Basically I want an iPad that is eye-friendly. Really wish they would put their considerable resources into making that happen.
I have the Max lumi 1 and I really love it. I mainly use it for reading textbooks now. I prefer the Remarkle 2 for note taking/homework at University because I can access my notes from the Remarkable app on any of my devices. So its hard for me to transfer to only the Max lumi. But Lumi Its note taking is really nice works great I find. Remarkable is just more convenient for what I do. I don't know if this helps your decision.
I have ordered Supernote A5X and not a 100% sure if I would be happy with it. Can I ask you why you'e not fully happy with it? I still have time to cancel my order and go with Boox Note Air 2. TIA

Great call - Voya does a great job, it is hard. I find I write better on the Supernote to be honest I like the pen on that one. My handwriting is not that good to begin with, but like the way the Supernote writes. reMarkable is pretty good but as far as writing quality going with Supernote. Thanks for the comments!
