What a great video with excellent editing Laurence ! Must take a fair bit of time to get the editing "in the can" but the effort comes over in the professionalism in the final cut. I've lost count of the number of times a vlogger referenced something in the past without showing the before/after. Well done. Quality stuff. Thanks.

Love how they repair the comb and also shows you they need drone cells 😊

Just in case anyone is wondering the brown on the wax is just propolis. Bees put it everywhere as an antibacterial cleanser, crack filler and glue.

Another interesting and informative video thanks Lawrence, I definitely won't worry now about damaged wax in super frames

Hi Laurence, in relation to brood frames where the bees are building wild comb at the bottom of the frame i.e from the wood to the brood floor. Should I knock that off or is it an indication that in need to add another brood box for space. Or both 😊

Hi Edward. Definitely the best indication they need space in the brood next. I knock it off (mind the queen) and give additional space by either removing honey bound frames or adding a second brood box. In the UK we are coming close to the equinox so I wouldn't double up anything now as brood nests will start to contract within the next 4 weeks or so. As with everything, its a case of risk management. Big full brood boxes is good for honey production but there is a risk of swarming. Adding a double brood box helps to mitigate the swarming risk but means you will lose lots of honey into the brood area.

@@BlackMountainHoney Thanks Laurence, I am based in Ireland, that is very interesting about the equinox. I will double check the honey bound frames on the next inspection. p.s. I got inspiration to spray my hive in the camo colours from your video. Thanks again.

How about heavily infested frames with wax moth?

Good call. We don't have many of them but if its heavily infested, them best to melt down and start again
