Been playing 4 years and started worst shot rounds 2 years ago really helps with shooting from the odd spots on a course... I've had local pros ask if i was playing best shot said no worst shot and after a painful look on their face they asked to join and loved it for practice as well ...
Robbie, this has to be one of your best videos yet in my opinion. I’m definitely gonna be using this worst shot round. I’ve already been making some mental changes in my game That has really helped. The first thing that I’ve done which may sound counterintuitive is that I’ve been practicing less. One because I was getting fatigued to the point where I was under performing due to muscle fatigue, but the more I practiced the more I would step up to a shot saying to myself I practiced the shot 100 times this week and then when I threw it bad, it would just downward spiral me. And second less practice made me have less expectation I would walk up to a course excited to just get to be playing disc golf and taking a break from work versus it being all I do and me expecting some type of All-Star performance. The second thing I’ve done has been working on one thing at a time, which is easier said than done I know, but I am particular have worked on my timing more than I’ve worked on my form after I’ve gotten the basics down. I use to Critique my throw continuously trying to get every little thing right which led down the road of never being satisfied even on good shots. There’s some basic stuff I take from the pros, they lineup generally the same, and they brace the same, but they have different timing tempo. They even have different amounts of shoulder movement in their throw. This is been a game changer for me because working on my tempo has allowed me to get the same release and has given me consistency. It is also turned me away from only caring about distance and in return as I got better at my tempo over the last couple months, my distance has increased by about 30 to 40 feet. I got this idea when I listened to Isaac Robinson talk about going to the field and teaching himself and everything he did He never cared about distance, It just cameover time. And the last thing I’ve done that has really helped is lowering tremendously the amount of molds and discs in my bag. I have started taking the method of using some of my favorite molds and having a more beaten version and putting in a newer version to do what I want to do using the beaten version to do the other function I want, but this keeps me using the same molds the same grip pressure which helps with my release, and also just builds confidence as I do better shots with Disc and I pick up the next one that is similar or even the same just newer, I know I’m going to throw it well in my mind. less molds have also allowed me to concentrate more on learning my disks instead of trying to figure out which one to throw all the time. And I really like this worst shot round because it does cause you to focus on the opposite end of the spectrum. You’re no longer worrying about making every shot perfect or taking the best shot of two when you throw one and you said yourself that’s not me. It’s not beating yourself up. It’s more acknowledging where you’re at and saying can I get par from this terrible position still.
I took that intro personally 😆. I played my local course twice today and threw my personal best the first round, then followed it up with my worst round in two months.
Really good stuff Robbie! I love the clarity of the floor/ceiling concept and how helpful this type of play is. I am kicking myself for not trying this myself, but I will be adding worst shot rounds to my play immediately! :D Thanks
I really liked this video. I actually play something similar during my casual rounds. I will often take a second drive or upshot if my first one is bad. However, I always, ALWAYS play the first lie. For mostly the same reasons as you state in the video. If I were to allow myself to take the second (often better) lie, I would develop a false sense of ability. I figured, why fool myself into thinking I can shoot -5 when in reality I average +2.
Please let me know if you are ever in the San Diego area or within an hour as I would really like to book some coaching with you. I find your videos absolutely on point for how I learn and truly thank you for continuing to do what you do. Thanks for all the awesome content. Shawn
I play most of my rounds solo, and if I chuck a disc in the woods, I tend to play out a better 2nd shot. A worst shot round will establish a better number in my head for "when it counts" and give me way more practice with scrambling and tricky upshots. Also - sick putts and birdie on 17!
Tried this on a tough layout I will play in league round next week. Creating pressure putts..CHECK. Getting me to really concentrate on that first throw CHECK. Adding pressure on the second attempt when the first throw was good. CHECK. Only thing I wasn't really sure on was, what to be thinking when the first shot was definitely bad? I went with going for it, rather than just kind of laying up since I knew the shot wouldn't be used. Seemed good. Doing worst shot, definitely better than throwing multiples and then thinking "Ok, so now I know how to throw this shot" when one stays inbounds.
Been doing practice rounds now and then where I force myself to always make two putts to finish off a hole. Also, if the drive/upshot gives me an easy putt, I move back to a range I feel more uncomfortable at. Will definetly try worst shot round next time.
When I go out and practice I always tend to turn it into best shot doubles practice which I’m learning before this video doesn’t help me. I am definitely going to try this the next time I make it out.
Last weekend I counted how many putts I missed inside circle. I wanted to see where I'm hemorrhaging strokes. For the most part on an average amateur ranked course I will maintain par for half to two thirds of the round. Then I start missing putts inside circle and finish over par. Over time paying attention to my game amd finding the weak points has allowed me to make it this far. Now I know I need to spend more time practice putting. Will I ever be pro level? Nope and don't ever expect to, but I do see where I can be honest with myself and still improve my game. I shoot for par and am just looking to maybe convert a couple pars into birdies or at least save par from bogey a bit more consistently.
Robbie what are the chances of me being able to actually have a conversation with you. I have many issues with my game or learning and would greatly appreciate if I could pick your brain and get some much needed advice from you… Please and thank you Jeff M
I get what your saying here. I just play one shot with zero do overs per round. Sometimes I'll play another round if I have time, then I feel I have a good idea of where to work more on, nd what I really do shoot in a round. I see too many who rethrow several times a round. That's a great way to add pressure to your game when thing count. Just play a pure round as if you're on TV and the rules must be followed or you're punished.
@@RobbieCDiscgolf no I totally get it. I think this concept you came up with is absolutely going to be my new routine for tournament prep. Also, I’m part of the community team for ARDG Charlotte so I love me some Joseph too

I love the twice or it's luck pressure! Great idea!
Never considered a worst shot round. Love the idea and might try that this week before my tourney!
Had fun at the Tourney w/ ya bro👏🏻 great win! “GAS PEDAL” 😂
Good video, I will try this tomorrow. Can’t wait.
This is brilliant! Thanks for the cool perspective that I never thought about.
I need to give this a try. I've never played a worst shot round but it makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the tip.
Why have I never thought of this?!
Thank you.
Confidence and Concentration = Consistency
I love..worst shot rounds
I call them " Chuck n Suck"...
I took that intro personally 😆. I played my local course twice today and threw my personal best the first round, then followed it up with my worst round in two months.
I like this idea, definitely going to use this!
Never heard of such a thing. But looks like such an amazing concept. Can't wait to try it this weekend
This is actually such a good concept. I’m going to implement it immediately
Awesome tip Robbie! I often play two trows, but i have had the first one as ”main”. Will try this for sure 👍🏼👍🏼
Adding this exercise to my practice sessions

Bro, good job on forming that hat 😁 Thanks for the tips, I watch your stuff all the time
holy shit he actually got the table set maybe I'll actually improve at disc golf now that I am dining on a well-established surface, thanks Robbie!
Cool idea! Gonna have to give that a try! Thanks 👍🏼👍🏼
Love this! Great way to approach the game
Yes, exactly this happened yesterday on tour. I was dialed off the tee, got 9 birdie putts from
Great content as usual and I will definitely try your worst shot approach.
Good luck on your tournament

Truth!
Worst shot rounds are also great for finding out where you're tough upshots will be from, and you get to practice them twice.
Flawless video
awesome vid

Creat the baseline.....BBBBBrrrrilliant!!!!
Great idea. There are no mulligans in tournament play.
My expectation is scratch from the short tees. I'm getting close. For me it means going out and playing rounds every day if I can.

Ok, I am definitely turning Pro next year...thanks Robbie for helping me reject my own reality and replace it with yours Lol's
I will now, love the idea!

What can we do about these 100°+ days.
Worst shot putter round coming this weekend now lol
Truly diving into the deep end!

The shots fired at Joseph from ARDG is crazy
@anotherrounddiscgolf
I love me some Joseph. And he's better than me at Disc Golf. Just trying to address all sides of disc golf teaching concepts out there!
