I've been really enjoying mids (5 speed) and down rounds, especially when life gets too busy to get in more than one or two rounds a month. I love playing rounds where I don't feel like I have to put full beans into long drives but can just focus on position golf. It's really helping my approach game as well. For me that's: Truth, Tursas, Suspect, Maiden, Swan
I would recommend looking into the DGA breaker. Has a good bit a stability but still will push forward. I would also look into a mvp watt for that spot. Love your video and all that you put out.
I literally had to stop the video and rewind 3 times to realize you said you were going to play the "8" hole loop! My mind is not right. :D Innova Birdie, the Loft Hydrogen (haven't thrown it) or the Super Puppy are the closest options... ( I have some Birdies for you to play with.) Have you tried the Watt for the Luna?
I love the Hydrogen as I have one in base plastic and throw it a lot. It pretty much just goes straight up to 300' with little to no fade at all, but I have accidentally overpowered it a few times and it flips and doesn't come back. But for controlled throws it goes straighter than any other putter type disc I've ever thrown. And I own about 45 different types of putters. I was pretty thorough about trying out different ones when I started. 😅
So the disc I think you’re looking for is my favorite throwing putter ever. The particle, which is discontinued. I’ve tried a ton of discs trying to find the replacement and currently the closest I’ve found are the mint discs lasso and the kastaplast reko x. A couple of honorable mentions are the p3x from disc mania and the mvp atom.
Maybe bag the Berg for the rest of the year and discover ALL of the shots it is good at. Might try the DGA Breaker in place of that Luna. Premium and base plastic options are available for both discs. I hope that your day is fantastic as well.
Try an AGL Acacia in the Alpine plastic! Great glider and truly straight putter with minimal fade at the end. It’s a wizard bottom and AGL Ponderosa top!
Have you tried the ringer? I throw the crystal Ledgestone ones and they are money with a straight to slightly overstable flight with a consistent minor finish left.
I love putter rounds! I relax a lot more, don't take in a lot of expectations, and the lower exertion of carrying only a shoulder bag with 3-5 discs and a water bottle helps more than I expected. What do you consider your realistic max distance on the course with a putter only bag? 220-230 for me. When I try to push beyond that with a putter I get a lot of bad releases.
So p3x is one of my favorites and then for the second one you could try a parachute, pitch, or range.... I get along with those much more than a glitch personally lol
I'm shocked how people have forgotten. I recall there was some pro on Discmania who fancied himself premium plastic P2:s for throwing, (one of the most copied mold of all time, maybe second only to the destroyer) for their pushing glide and reliable stability, who right now is sponsored by MVP and does not thrown an envy. The P2 has *reinvented* my putter throwing game and I used to not throw putters hardly at all because I just couldn't find any reliably stable enough that wasn't just dumpy overstable.
Armadillo for the Polecat, Gold-X KT Pure for the Luna. Those are some of the best throwing putters out there, like a Buzzz basically. Also as a Wizard guy you could try the Ion in premium plastic. It's basically a suped up Wizard. I prefer plasma if you can find one (prettiest, tackiest, best glide).
Tough break for you. I think you were accurate on the 3rd shot of the Par 5. You released it flat. For that shot, you knew that it required a Hyzer. Suggestion. I like you have struggled to throw the Luna with any degree of consistency. Have you considered the Discraft Fierce? The inherent instability of this putter makes you more conscious of the angle required at release. Or go with Electron Envy and Neutron Envy to cover the two options: straight finish and stable fade.
Ive never had that issue with throwing putters/approach discs. I throw the same discs i use for putts if i want a straight flight. I throw an approach disc if i want stability and i have an old jawbreaker zone if i need distance but reliably towards the end of the flight. However im not a person that will often reach for a putter on anything more than about 210-220ft. Ill just move up to a mid, which is the strongest part of my game and the part of my bag im most confident in. I have the full range of mid range stability. Stratus (quite understable) Mako3 (slightly understable) m4 (workable either way) compass (straight with a little fade) and Roc3 (straight with fairly reliable fade but dependent on plastic) and i have an archive i take in and out for a little more stability.
Try a sonic in place of the pole cat. Really floaty, but you should be able to keep it from flipping. And you might like MVP's Nomad in place of the Luna
I love a pilot and agree that it throws similar to a Luna. But he was saying he wanted something with some overstability and a pilot has a little flip up and his dead ass straight
Try the MVP Watt! It has so much glide and is very shapeable. If you don't like how much glide the Watt has, try a Proxy in Neutron, or Eclipse for a bit more stability.

Not sure I've ever commented on RUclips but I had to mention the Infinite Discs Tomb for a Luna replacement. Torque resistant, flat top, low profile for a putter, nice and straight with a pushing fade, made in tons of plastics, and comfortable forehand or backhand (at least for me). It reminds me more of a small diameter mid than a putter but it's a 3 speed #tombgang
The disrespect for the glow envy is wild, did we just forget about the envy after 2021? Glow plastic makes it the most torque resistant bomber putter on the market
I think you may need to re-think your throwing putters. You have a lot of "upshot" discs, meaning that none of your throwing putters besides the Luna are actually built for a lot of distance. Pigs don't really have much glide even when beat up, and Polecats are slow to reach their target despite the high glide. Baseline Luna's are really flippy when thrown hard, so it's hard to get distance with them. You need to get something with high glide and a medium to overstable stability. I would recommend trying the Soft Proxy, the Watt, the new Eclipse Pixel, or re-evaluate the Envy in a different plastic. Also, don't hesitate to grab a premium plastic throwing putter. That extra stability with glide is nice! I would recommend outside of MVP, but the only thing I've encountered that really fits that bill lately is a C-line P2, which I don't think has been released outside of the SkyGod 4.
I've found the Doomsday rot to be that slot of putter, buddy has a premium plastic one and is super pretty but seems like is has more flip then my base putter plastic one, I bag and envy as well and think that the Rot is less over stable but still able to be yammed on without burning
Think I good thing to do is not just say the shape you need but how. I always try to say like I need lef to right walk up, finish last foot there, low to high pull if I need height etc. It is very easy to just focus on the shape (outcome) but nothing on the process to get there (the setup)
Tempo, never had any worry of that disc flipping on me but when thrown hard stays straight for 250+. Little bit more OS than an envy with a lot better hand feel in my opinion.
Wizard on 5 for 3rd shot to fade? Or a Mint Profit. Actually, get a Pure. You can get an Opto Air for S curves or the hard/medium plastics to get some fade.
I was thinking the exact same thing that although it’s one of those in between discs, it’s like saying I’m gonna play putter only round and you throw zones. I know there’s people on both sides of the equation think different ways, but I definitely feel like the pig from its shape and fly is meant to be some type of approach throwing and I personally would qualify not as a putter only but also not a mid range. Either way after throwing some hot sauce Robbie’s way I really do love the video! Actually played a course recently that was kind of open and decided to throw putters only and was very surprised that there was literally only one hole I couldn’t do better on with a whole bag of Discs! I can definitely say that with an under stable and a torque resistant putter you can probably throw as far as you can other Disc in your bag and it made me realize I need to start taking some of those on the top end out or only use them when I’m trying to do major flex lines, in open areas.

Exactly! Lunas are flippy as hell and Glenvy's are the most roque resistant.

The only throwing putter I enjoy puting some power behind is the Lasso from Mint. It’s deep but actually will have some hookup at the end
Have you tried the Streamline Pilot or Axiom Proxy? I like my Pilot in proton and just got (but liking it) Fission Proxy.

Soft Neutron Proxy....it is the most stable Proxy...nice flights for forehand and backhand
Couldnt agree more. Add in an eclipse proxy for as a second. My e lipse is flippy and my neutron is beefy
When I play new courses. I play midrange and putter only rounds at least two to three times. Learned that years ago from a friend Adam "hambone" H.
Neutron proxy is pretty nice. The eclipse proxy has potential to be flippy too
Try the MVP Watt! It has so much glide and is very shapeable. If you don't like how much glide the Watt has, try a Proxy in Neutron, or Eclipse for a bit more stability.

Try to use the opto Sinus I’ve been using it since they rereleased it in opto. Don’t worry about dumping it to the right.

PA2, Shield, Pilot, Ohm, Atom, Kratos. Shield is a hidden gem. I currently throw Atoms. They are slightly more stable than their numbers.

I’ve been throwing the Doomsday Rot for my OS throwing putter. I’ve hated every other Doomsday putter I’ve thrown, but the Rot is money.

I have a plasma proxy that never turns for me (even though my eagle envy does) but has a dependable fade.
