Disc on top of the basket have never counted and don’t to this day. Discs that wedge in the cage used to not count but do count as of now.

Corey Ellis actually taking a stroke for a faulty basket is one of the more pathetic displays of rule enforcement. Added nothing beneficial to the sport with that precedent. Benefit goes to the player he made the putt, just sad

I still don't understand how with the video footage this wasn't able to be reviewed and counted as a made putt, to rest in the basket or not, if the basket isn't regulated to catch the disc fully, you cannot be stroked for a putt that would otherwise have stayed in the basket

@@owenmcdonald5806The problem with using video review in this case is not every card is on camera. This gives an edge to players who are on coverage.

Basket hangers and wedgies count now. On top of the basket does not count.
So McBeth's drive would be an ace today. And AJ's putt would count now.

The Corey Ellis putt debacle was because the basket was actually damaged, a spot bent enough for a disc to fall through. It never should have been on the course. Ellis didn't "break" the basket, nor did he do any "magic" on it. This was all known in thr days after it happened.

Seems like someone who makes discgolf content should know the rules. Or if you choose not to look up the rules at least don’t make comments about rules you don’t know are true.

come one. very clearly that disc hit chains and fell in the basket. If it hits chains and somehow falls out of the basket.....just give him the stroke back, that makes no sense. There couldn't be a more clear example of a basket that needs to be designed better.

Your friend is wrong. As long as the cage or chains support the disc, it counts as a completed hole. There’s nothing in the rules that say a disc that goes through the top of the basket doesn’t count.
