Thanks for doing this video. LBX1 and LBX2 never worked for me because of the "bedroom volume issue" - Way to LOUD!!!. You have shown that the LBX Stealth does have a bedroom volume. I just ordered an LBX Stealth. Thanks Again!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video as usual. I have the LBX-S and I absolutely love it. I leave it on 1/4 power all the time with the volume around 3 or 4 (when the wife is home) and it really pushes the tubes (valves for you guys haha) nicely.
i've got a hack to use these live, plug it into a cab sim/IR loader, disable the cab within the IR/loadbox, plug that into a PA pedal And then into a cab, instant giggable extra volume!
I already have the LBX-S bought months ago on most part thanks to your LBX-S videos! You have some of the best LBX-S content in youtube. Anyway interestingly I'm also looking at some EVH Wolfgang Standards and Specials.... spec wise they seems to have better deals than other metal guitar brands so I might get one really soon. Still contemplating between standards vs specials at this point lol
I remember trying the OG LBX in a store one day and me and my friend just burst out laughing over how loud the little bastard was. Blew us away. With taht said, it cemented it as a "not as home friendly as I thought" amp but man it sounded incredible
So what I’m hearing is that the stealth lets you crank the volume to get more power tube saturation? I’m actually ordering one on payday because I have the 50 watt el34 and would like the same tones for an acoustic/electric duo thing I’m currently doing.
Hey Neil ...i want to ask your opinion on evh cabs ? so many top RUclipsrs have an evh head , ola , fluff , yourself etc ..list goes on , yet none of them ever use the matching speaker , obviously its personal taste , but do the evh speakers shit themselves at loud volumes or something or just not great at extreme metal ? just curious what you think as so many evh heads out there but never the cab
God question .....I love the EVH cabs bythaway I think the only reason people you mentioned aernt using them is because they prefer v30 speakers which are a bit more mid focused and tighter for recording metal,I will have an EVH cab one day the remind me of an old greenback loaded cab I used to have . There’s a touch more movement in the low end but I do quite like it especially with the lbx heads
I do actually have some plans on selling the captures via a company only problem was I wiped my Mooer ge 300 when I updated it so I need to start again also I have to use my own IR
Thanks for the video Neil ! I’m looking at buying the 15w Stealth. I live in a detached house so can play with some decent volume. But don’t gig or play with a band. Can the 15w do decent rhythm tones and 80s hard rock tones well? The 50w would be overkill - wondering what compromises making for the 15w - only 2 channels (no blue). I don’t play with heaps of gain normally and use pedals if so. I’ve watched all your comparison videos (brilliant thank you) but hard to tell the differences between 50w on RUclips and average speakers. Tossing up Engl MT 15 amongst others. Can’t try any out either. In lock down in Sydney. Welcome any comments. Love the videos - new sub. Just discovered your channel. 🙏🔥🎸🤘
The clean (green) channel will get good classic rock tones with an over drive and the dirty (red) channel will give you a wide variety of rock/metal tones with some dialing. I have one and I love it.
@@ricksanchezito8972 Thanks heaps for the feedback Rick !! 🙏. Sounds like I need one. Have a Runt 20 which is good but keen on the EVH. Thanks again sounds brilliant.
@@paulm6341 the gain taper on LBXs is great goes from crunch to blistering, you can crank the green gain too....as far as the 50s low end punch and MIDI switching plush 3 channels may suit you better just depends on how much switchable versatility you need
@@NinecoreNeil Thanks so much Neil. Really appreciate you taking the time to reply. Love the videos and great seeing so much EVH content. Good luck with your neighbour when you want to crank things up !!
Haha yeah that LBX is super loud. It's almost impossible to play at bedroom levels not without an power soak. lol Don't get me wrong I love it however its not for the faint at heart.
I think anything over 2-3 it loses its balls. -That, imo is a defect & a bad thing. Why put an amp out that falls apart after 4ish on the volume. .It should retain its power & tone rihght up to 10, thats what an incredible amp would do atleast
@@NinecoreNeil In thje livingroom, band practice, jamming with freinds etc. ..... In other words ....... Why have something that goes to 10 , but only less than half of it is good.
What speakers do you use with your LBX-S? I had been using a 1x12 with a v30, but I just got a 1x12 with a Greenback and it sounds a million times better to me.
I use a 212 v30 cab however I have used it with Greenbacks and it sounds awesome, the slight flub of the Greenback adds some low end so quite often el84 amps sound better with Greenbacks

When you get turn it up to around 6 or 7 it really comes alive
@@ricksanchezito8972 yes the LBXs needs cranking right up I still think it’s not as loud as the lbx though

Great video. Thanks. Though the volume got normalized after mic xD
Would having the LBX-S make you miss the blue channel?
@@Carsonthetexan you kind of have a crunch in the red on this amp but it’s not got as much mids as the lbx 1 blue
is it possible they have changed the volume pot taper? both cranked, which one is louder? too much of a difference?
Yes they have changed it 👍

I believe the way that it’s done is to add a resistor or something to make the dial more useable

Hey is the blue and red on the lbx 1 comparable to the 5153 50 watt??
Yes red is virtually the same the blue is a lot clearer and has a really nice growl
There is a massively old video on my channel somewhere of both
