I bought a 2018 G90 (V8) and have driven it more than 4K miles . I am 100% satisfied. Great built quality, fit and finish. Very comfortable. 27MPG on the freeway. ZERO complaints.
@@name4379 Actually S class and 7 series depreciate crazy fast, nobody that is rich will buy an used 7 series or S class, nobody that isn't rich can pay 100k for a car, so the big German cars will cost a third of the price of a new car in 3 years, actually losing far more money than genesis.
"Wanna know whats cooler than up-and-coming car manufacturers? Up-and-coming car reviewers!" My response, I agree. Nevertheless they did make at least one mistake in the review in saying there is one color scheme in the lighting of the car when in fact there are 7 which has 4 different levels of brightness. (which Yuri corrected in a different thread later on) and also for some reason the car they used for the review seems to be inferior to the car I have. I will God willing post here what I posted elsewhere in a thread I started.... I would just like to point out that while it appears that Yuri and Jacob were driving the 5.0 rather than the premium their version doesn't appear to have the entertainment system in the back like the 5.0 has. (not sure why) Note the review at 3 minutes and 30 seconds which confirms this. Thus when they say there isn't enough features in the back part of the car at about 4 minutes and 30 seconds into the review, one should keep in mind that if they have the 5.0 there is a better entertainment system which comes with the car. I would also point out that they must of had a somewhat defective G90 used for this video because I don't have the squeaking issues in my G90 they complained about 11 minutes into the review. I actually duplicated squeezing the rear view mirror and clicking the manual shifts as they did and my car has absolutely no squeaking.

thecarexpert21 You can say that again. You get a hell of a lot for your money and the g80 and g90 won (again) the most reliable cars by consumer report. Which is crazy because the brand isn’t even 5 years old.
thecarexpert21 yes like insanely underrated. All they need is more performance like M or AMG. I think that they can bring in younger people that way and really bring excitement to genesis. I currently own a 2013 Hyundai Gensis R spec with the 5.0 and I bought it used with 42k on it and it's been dead reliable and able to keep up with mustang's.

No way...sitting in the G90 it looks nice at first glance but if you look at the details everything just seems to be a cheaper and crappier copy of something else. You guys noticed the creaking plastic bits but if you run your hands over the laser cut speaker grilles you'll also notice that they're noticeably sharp and unrefined compared to the grilles in a Mercedes or even a Lincoln. If you're gonna spend this kind of money you might as well get something that feels like everything in the car had a lot of thought and work put into it which this just doesn't have. The LS would be my pick if you want a more affordable car in this class, the interior very clearly shows the quality better. You'll have to pay more to load it up but I think it's worth it.
I would choose a base Lexus LS or Lincoln Continental Black Label over this if I wanted a comfortable luxury cruiser for a similar price. Genesis is nice, just not nice enough yet. 🤷♂️
I wouldn't want this to be an S class. Because then it wouldn't be reliable, would likely have costly electronic problems, and I would have to deal with the snooty rude ass people at the dealerships to fix those problems. Happy Genesis owner here :-)

Please never stop with the visor test. E.g. Saab 9.5 had a visor to pull out on the side and a 2nd visor than for the front. I miss my Saab from 2007. The best car I ever had!!!!
Regarding design, Genesis is still trying to establish themselves. Remember back when Lexus used to look like Mercedes-Benzes? Look at them now. Lexus went wild with their designs once they established a strong customer base where they were confident that they’ll keep buying Lexus in any design they’ll come. Genesis is still at a point where they have to appeal to their rivals’ customer base in order to get them to make the initial switch.
They've already become interesting and found a design language. It's in the 2021 G80 and GV80. They're more daring and interesting looking than Audi, Mercedes, or BMW's sedans or crossovers.
Great review! I like how the rear peasant-blocker retracted when you put the car in reverse, then automatically redeployed when you shifted into drive.
Exactly! Lexus and Acura's look to much like Toyota's and Honda's. The Lexus Rc and Lc are the only lexus that looks truly luxury and maybe the Ls460L/Ls500 the rest are just high priced camrys & land cruisers
TheStraightPipes keep up the work guys. I'm hooked I feel like you guys do reviews everyone wants to hear not just a car enthusiast. BTW my wife does the visor test without knowing it. I had to tell her it's a real thing. Good excuse for more straight pipe goodness.
With Smart Mode, it changes color based on what mode it’s in. So, if it’s in Smart Mode and it’s displayed in green, that means you’re in Eco Mode. If you go full send in Smart Mode, it changes to orange, indicating it’s now in Sport Mode.
kerem Do you realize that g90 debuted on December of 2015? When did D5 A8 debuted?? Oh right July of 2017. Hyundai designers copied D5 using time machine. Some people needs to get the facts right

I've driven the fully loaded Ultimate 5.0 RWD Black with Black interior. Amazing car, even had big displays behind the front seats. I'm very familiar with Hyundai/Kia/Genesis vehicles, they all share the exact same parts, just designed differently. Never knew the 90's had Brown interior as in option? Only seen Creme and Black. Non gloss wood trim would've been perfect for this model.
J Silver There is a blue one with "white lace" interior. Aother dealer said there is no 'white' 30 minutes after I stood next to one at another dealer :)
Tom Waznis What!? How is this possible? How can anyone get a different interior color besides Beige and Black? I wonder if other colors are only available in other locations outside of the U.S...would be nice if Hyundai provided a few more interior colors. Ah well.
Love these guys videos. I do wish all car reviewers would comment on which luxury cars are "vault like" and which ones are not. I was just shopping for a new luxury sedan and narrowed it down to the S Class and this Genesis after driving everything. Im going with the S Class only because the Genesis interior materials felt a little cheaper and was quite a bit louder in terms of road/tire noise when going down the road. Other than that, I think the Genesis is the smarter buy, but short of a Rolls or Bentley, no sedan is going to beat an S Class in terms of the "vault like" experience.
I'd drive it to the bingo hall. Why did they put the hazard button right above the clock and split up that piece of trim? It just sticks out and looks weird there.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for this review. Of all the G90 reviews I've watched (DeMuro and so on), yours is the only one that actually discusses the ride/handling as those of a grand touring car rather than ineffectively and pointlessly comparing it with sports cars. This isn't intended to be a sports car or sporty sedan, so other reviewers' comments on the drive have been kind of unhelpful to me. The Little Old Lady From Pasadena I'm not (you may need to Google that). But you're right - I'm considering this car because I'm an Old Person. :-) I don't drive to the bingo hall though, I clock thousands and thousands of highway miles a year driving to horse shows. So I neeeeeeeeeeed to know about stuff like comfort and highway handling. Your comment about old people finding the tech in this car easier to use than in its comparables was on point. I had noticed that also. I hope you get a chance to do the 2019 Premium (V8) soon. Would love to hear your thoughts on it! And maybe the new Lincoln Continental? Anyway, thanks again, you've earned a subscribe from me. P.S. Thanks for catching the creaks! Nobody else did. They're a bummer.
the H-TRAC badge(or any badge) for that matter is required by the federal(US) government to differentiate the each different "trim" levels if you would. lets the buyer know what they are getting. Also used to certify the cars in emissions and MPG ratings
I saw the G90 at the Autoshow. It seemed nice and huuge on the inside. So it's the size of an S class for the cost of a base E class. Not bad. But I recall ya'll said that the S class makes you feel better than the peasants driving other vehicles. Gendai doesn't do that. Honestly, Gendai should have kept the Equus name. So much better than G90. Questions are : Does Genesis still deliver your new car in that sweet transport?Did you guys do this review on the same day as the Volvo S90? How many hockey bags and sticks can you fit inside?
rockn roll I partially agree with you that the loaded g90 that they are driving is higher than a base E. However, there is no way Genesis is selling this at MSRP. Which means that you probably can get this for about the price of a base E.
I dont know where you live, but where i live, the *base* E class starts vom 52 k while the *base* G90 starts from 68k which is a *differance of 16k !!!* (US $) So don't even bother comparing, this is embarrassing.
I think you guys also might want to consider talking about fuel economy, not just because I know for a fact this car gargles gas but because as a ~potential buyer~ (let's pretend I have money now) that's one of the things I'd consider, environmentally speaking.
It actually does have multiple ambient light colors for the interior, it’s in the settings menu for the screen that’s between the gauges. (I’ve driven a lot of these cars before.)
I think that the rear design is from hyundai Equus. Which actually came before the 2014 S Class. Although I think other parts are definitely influenced by the S Class. Great review by the way!!
You guys should do a review of the Lexus LC 500 and a fully loaded LS 500, would love to see that. Both have the best interior in the class in my opinion. Top notch luxury and tech across the board.
I love how they call the sun shades "peasant blockers". They seem completely unaware there's a big difference between sun shades and privacy shades, even though they've driven cars with ACTUAL privacy shades. It's not much of a "peasant blocker" if the peasants can look right through the mesh...
Hi, I own a G90. First, I love the car. I had a BMW 740 and the G90 is, pound for pound just as nice if not better. Before you purchase a G90, call the service dept and ask for service. Then, ask for a loaner car and/or valet pickup. In the Atlanta area, the 3 dealers I've dealt with, to get oil changes, any type of service, there is no loaner car, no valet and it'll take 1-2 months to get service. So, let's say your car overheats. You'll not be able to drive it or go without your car till service can be done. I've even called the 800 Genesis Connected Service number to complain and see if something could be done. Guess what ... they spoke a good tune just like the dealership but they haven't done ANYTHING. If I wanted to be ignored or make to feel insignificant I could have just stayed with my BMW and their overpriced service dept. Speaking of overpriced, the 5000 mile oil change at the dealership was $180. For an oil change !!!! Again, I might as well go back to BMW. Do the research and know that you've been warned. Happy driving.
1. @4:56 NEVER SAY "I LIKE THE KNOB"! LOL unless you play 4 that team and i'm not judging U @ all LOL. 1a. NEVER STOP DOING THE VISOR TEST!! it's the 1 thing I look 4 now in all of your videos! u guys have made that your trademark move! 2. talk about the speakers and the sound of music that comes out of them, on a lot of cars the AUDIO sys. is usually a major option to upgrade
I think this was the first Genesis they launched, which means when it's updated at some point it will hopefully get some of the newer interior features and tech from the newer G70 and G80(?)
OMG . I just happened to come across your channel. You two bantering back/forth are hysterical 😂😂. You should take your act on the road 🤓. OK I digress 🙄. Well done guys! Now I need to search and see if you’ve reviewed a Volvo XC60 Inscription Hybrid which is what I’m really looking at besides the Tesla. The Volvo hybrid gets me into the HOV Lane here in Southern California so ....
Why does any full sized luxury sedan that isn't an A8 or 7 Series have to be for senior citizens? I'm just approaching 30, and I like the S-Class and G90.
@@TheStraightPipes I bought it 36 years of age. Awesome. 90 grand Canada Fully Loaded. EClass fully loaded was inline with the g90 pricing. EClass cannot compete with this car. Great review
I own a 2018 5 L all-wheel-drive genesis G 90 greatest car I’ve ever owned riders phenomenal people ask all the time who makes it grow from Illinois to the UPC 5 1/2 hours 28.5 miles to the gallon 75 miles an hour great great car top value for the money
I don't think the s90 competes as much as I like it. The s90 is not as quiet, not quite as smooth riding, not overall as luxurious and yet costs almost as much. I like the s90's interior better but that's subjective.
People spending way more to own the so called nane brand are truly missing out. I have to say of the 2, Yuri by far keeps things centered. Jacob complains way to much. He's comparing the infotainment to a S-class that cost 20 more thousand dollars. This car is on par with the S-class in every driving dynamic.
Hey guys! Awesome video like always! Really like how the channel is turning out ! Wanted to also leave a suggestion/request: would love to see a CTS-V ( 2018s) review from you guys! American Muscle in a sedan, but more refined than a Hellcat! Thank you guys!
I really want this to be my next car. Interesting that we do not get the brown leather in the U.S. Just the cream and a black. I’d like the blue with the cream interior.
I bought a 2018 G90 (V8) and have driven it more than 4K miles . I am 100% satisfied. Great built quality, fit and finish. Very comfortable. 27MPG on the freeway. ZERO complaints.
How the hell do you get above rated MPG? My Tau engine car drinks oil even on the highway.
How’s the G90 held up in terms of MPG? I do all highway driving, 40 miles a day. Curious if you’re still going 27 strong
Reliability test, how is it doing now
Jakub is obviously spoiled by the S-Class. Yuri loves the fact that it's something he can possibly afford. :-)
I Finn exactly 🤣🤣🤣
Just being irrational grinch
Why pay 155k for a s-class or 135 for a 7 series when you pay 80k for a g90 and get 90% of the same thing? Plus the Genesis warranty is better
@HeavyDutyTraining sounds like a good reason to me.
It’s still not the same doesn’t even offer true luxury quality as an s class
I think this depreciates a lot faster than both the 7 series and the s-class
Despite the fact that it's more reliable than both of them. Sad.

at 15:37 Just visceral cut throat honesty. That was amazing to end on. Shredder.
Also hey Straightpipes who does your music?
Jacob's expression when deploying the peasant blockers ROFL :D. Excellent review lads! Top marks!
Always a good day seeing Straight Pipes, Donut, and I know that Doug video is coming later today too.
Thoughts on a 2019 g90 5.0 ultimate in hindsight? Is this a decent car to pickup as a highway commuter on the used market?
They're absolutely amazing cars
You need to try the brand new K900 and G90. Much improved and better than ALL OTHER LUXURY CARS (S-Class and LS excluded).
Great review!
I like how the rear peasant-blocker retracted when you put the car in reverse, then automatically redeployed when you shifted into drive.
Yep, nice touch
Looks much nicer than anything by Toyota or Honda.
Whereas Lexus makes cars that look leagues more refined and stylish than anything by Hyundai or Genesis.
rockn roll what about the LC 500
Action is coming!
Exactly! Lexus and Acura's look to much like Toyota's and Honda's. The Lexus Rc and Lc are the only lexus that looks truly luxury and maybe the Ls460L/Ls500 the rest are just high priced camrys & land cruisers
A OH thanks for not providing any arguments or points and simply getting upset like a small child. Thank you for your contribution.
I read that comment about the audio system. Thanks for taking the input that matters to me.
We love you
TheStraightPipes love u more
TheStraightPipes keep up the work guys.
Front is the new A8, back is previous-gen S class
kerem Because it is designed by VW/Audi/BMW ex-employees.
kerem Do you realize that g90 debuted on December of 2015? When did D5 A8 debuted?? Oh right July of 2017. Hyundai designers copied D5 using time machine. Some people needs to get the facts right
Never stop the visor test!
just coming back 3 years later to tell everyone you can pick one of these up for like $30k now. Insane value
Ah well.
That intro edit and music is on point 👌
Haha yeah they almost made it a feature by doing that
For the haters saying to stop the visor tests, i say, ignore them. Yes please DO talk more about the Audio systems.
Yes, they still delvery in a glass box.
I dont know where you live, but where i live, the *base* E class starts vom 52 k while the *base* G90 starts from 68k which is a *differance of 16k !!!* (US $) So don't even bother comparing, this is embarrassing.
The Zero to 60 on the 3.3 turbo is 5.3 seconds with 17/24 mpg. The 5.0 is 5.1 seconds zero to 60 with 15/23 mpg.
I think you guys also might want to consider talking about fuel economy, not just because I know for a fact this car gargles gas but because as a ~potential buyer~ (let's pretend I have money now) that's one of the things I'd consider, environmentally speaking.
berniebenjie 17/24MPG isn't exactly gargling gas.
It actually does have multiple ambient light colors for the interior, it’s in the settings menu for the screen that’s between the gauges. (I’ve driven a lot of these cars before.)
Yes Yuri messed that one up. I guess the infotainment wasn't as good as he said it was 😉 - Jakub
TheStraightPipes Haha guess not! Fantastic video as always! Keep up the great work! You guys are my favorite car reviewers on RUclips.
Why keep comparing to the S-Class rather than comparing cars that are priced similarly to the G90?
Which would you choose 2018 g80 sport or g90 ultimate and why? I'm gonna buy either.
I would go G90. The price has downed very similar to G80 line.
@dennythedavinchi3832 I bought a audi q8
@@dennythedavinchi3832 thanks
I think that the rear design is from hyundai Equus. Which actually came before the 2014 S Class. Although I think other parts are definitely influenced by the S Class. Great review by the way!!
Nice review. You're fun to listen to. I'd like to hear you guys talk more about fuel economy!
Peasant blockers face is hilarious. I kind of wish they would work they're way down to slightly less pricey vehicles.
You guys should do a review of the Lexus LC 500 and a fully loaded LS 500, would love to see that. Both have the best interior in the class in my opinion. Top notch luxury and tech across the board.
I got way too excited seeing this notification!
Does anybody know where this is filmed? I’m guessing somewhere in Milton? Where is send it corner?
I think the depreciation alone on the genesis is what kills it. It'll be a good used purchase in 5 years at $22,000 with low mileage.
I think this was the first Genesis they launched, which means when it's updated at some point it will hopefully get some of the newer interior features and tech from the newer G70 and G80(?)
Weird questions but what watch is he wearing? Can't tell if it's a Seiko or a Rolex
Even if I'm not interested in the car, I'll still watch the video just to listen to the commentary lol great video!
The *only* thing is dislike about this car is that the headlights don't fit with the shape of the grille.
Sabarish Elango Very disappointed it doesn't have the interior light color themes.
I love you guys you make great videos
You don't think the front copies the Audi air intake, and the headlights look like Infinity?
Why does any full sized luxury sedan that isn't an A8 or 7 Series have to be for senior citizens? I'm just approaching 30, and I like the S-Class and G90.
You can like it, but will you actually buy it.
@@TheStraightPipes I bought it 36 years of age. Awesome. 90 grand Canada Fully Loaded. EClass fully loaded was inline with the g90 pricing. EClass cannot compete with this car. Great review
@TheStraightPipes At 38 I purchased a G90 V8 rear wheel drive. Owned Porsche’s, Audi’s, etc... loving my G90!
Another great video guys :)
You guys are amazing
I love you videos and I truly enjoy and 😂😂😂😂 listening to Yuri talk
Thanks guys keep the video coming
Why don't they ever show the G90 with the executive rear seat option?
I'm surprised this didn't have massaging seats when the older Hyundai Equus did.
waiting for Lexus LS review, of course the one with Kiriko glass trim and hand pleated cloth option
Madossein Pouria the new LS is the best luxury large car you can buy right now. For its price it's a steal
Toyota4Life I had no doubt about that
The good cop, bad cop format is getting a little tired but the reviewers are entertaining enough.
It's not a format it's just who we are
No new out-tro yet! Come on!
Was this a 2018..or 2017?..2018 V8's( and onward) have dual screens on the backs of the front seats.
Can any owners of this 2018 model year verify how their reliability has been and if anything has needed repair? Thanks.
Never Stop Doing The Visor Test.
The new 2020 G90 HOLY CRAP so nice.
Agree. Can't wait to drive it
The rolling exterior shots in the backroads you guys usually do I could swear look identical to backroads here in midwest Illinois, USA haha
I was consciously impressed with the intro
I've greatly enjoyed the new Genesis sedans. You compare it to the S class, 7 series... Does it compete with the S90? Which would you take?
I don't think the s90 competes as much as I like it. The s90 is not as quiet, not quite as smooth riding, not overall as luxurious and yet costs almost as much. I like the s90's interior better but that's subjective.
Love the end comment about impressing people had yuri speechless
Excellent review Guys! Very well executed. Thanks so much.
They're not supposed to agree with each other. That's what makes for bantering and fun.
Woot! I shop at the DV Shop, too! Great people!
Tell Sean we say hello
See if you guys can get your hands on an Alfa romeo
