Agreed. I didn’t start following NHRA until I found him. Before I thought winning depended on who would throw the most money at it. Now I know it’s not JUST that, there’s to much human variable involved. The rivalry between the drivers is very evident at this level. I like it!

One time, back in my 20s, I had my loud pedal taken away for a bit - also the piece of paper that one needs to operate said loud pedal - aaaaand a bunch of other pieces of paper because that’s how it works.

That was the run where they hit the kill button just before the finish line. Some of the systems just kill the motor, and some kill the motor and pop the chute.
Not sure what Clay's team uses. Either way, it's probably a "surprise" to Clay when it happens. lol

Clay thank you for being a RUclipsr!! Thinking back on my childhood we only had 4 channels to watch on TV and the internet wasn’t even invented yet. Luckily enough one of the channels we got broadcasted NHRA drag racing events. I have been watching your channel for awhile .I had no idea growing up there was so much going on that the TV didn’t capture. It truly is amazing!!

Great episode Clay as usual. I can definitely tell when the button is pushed before the end of the run on your vids. The G force on your head goes from positive to negative when you don't expect it. Looks like it would hurt. Like a half of a whiplash. Hole shots today.

Not just taking an 8 cyclinder motor and squeezing 11-12k horse power from it. Its pushing the envelope of performance to a level better than the previous run. And finding ways to shave 100’s of a second to accelerate faster than any other man made operated device is mind bending...!!
One part that makes it very enjoyable for viewers is just how kind and happy you are doing your job. Always a

Pretty sure he does it for every start up in the pits since after every run it’s a complete tear down and rebuild.
I could tell Clay wasn’t expecting them to “hit the button” to kill the engine from how hard he was ejected forward. Racers brace themselves for the intense negative Gs when they pull the chutes. He knew immediately they killed the engine. 😅

Alan, when I saw him at Phx ( Firebird rose from the ashes of Wildhorse, thank God) was incredulous to the fact I ask if he was going to do Nitro School. I'd not seen him doing Nitro School in what seemed like since COVID. So, that was kool to see his mug again and doing Nitro school.
