Hades told her that she could eat one pomegranate seed, and he could see her 1 month out of the year, but she ate 6. So, now she spends half a year w each person. Since Kore means maiden, she changed her name to Persephone, which translates to: bringer of death/destruction

Other stuff, including Wikipedia, says he was a mortal lover of Persephone but I never believed that. She loved him like a son. Because she was only in love with Hades who was a loving faithful husband to her
