I really don't get these multiculural types. If you do mention that there are differences between different peoples biologically, such as sub-saharan africans tending to have greater endurance and strength than a japanese person, for example, they'll say you're a racist and that all races are exactly the same, it is only culture which is different... and then they say we need racial diversity in everything, extreme affirmative action etc. - without regard for the varying culture that people of different races may have.
Then if you say there is diversity of culture between people from poland and wisconsin and wales, well you're wrong they're all white so they count as one.

The multicultural types avoid race in its entirety and they tend to be white and liberal to evade accountability for the consequences of racial hierarchy in its entirety. Conservatives tend to adopt the colorblind approach, where there is no race and only the human race, thus too avoiding the consequences of racial hierarchy. We need to go back to address race as race and as a relevant characteristic of social stratification so we can then move forward.

this morning, during the first part of our two-part series, we talked about two different things. First, our discussion about our own experience with the "Diversity" In our community. We also talked about the fact that our community is not yet ready for what I want to say. Second, what I learned from my first interview. It is not easy to talk about people who are a diverse body of knowledge. We just have to be real friends with ourselves, not just a bunch of white dudes. I've been in the community long enough to know some of the people who are a bit less like me. A lot of the people i've met are people who are mostly straight. As with the gay community, the black community, the hispanic community, they are more like me than other straight people who are straight. We talk about how people from different parts of the planet do not like each other. We talk about how different cultures differ, how different cultures are built with different methods of worship. We talk about how people from different places in the world do not like each other. Even though we have different accents and we are not the same people. When you think of people who are "Diversity," You get a sense of how much it is hard for them to see themselves when they are not "Diverse." People of color, even in the same country, are different.

There are the same unambitious in China as in all other countries. So Adolph Hitler and Billy Graham are both white men while Idi Amin and Martin Luther King Jr are both black men, but Idi and Adolph are more alike in behavior as are Billy Graham and Martin Luther King Jr.

I tried to gently point out the issues and said I thought that 'diversity of character' was more valuable. I'm seriously grateful for this video because it mended the gaps in my confusion on the topic. Maybe soon I will be brave enough to better stand up for my perspectives on diversity- I think it will be important in my sector and employment. I have seen a number of job opportunities that say they are preferring POC or women, and while I think uplifting marginal groups and giving people opp[ortunities is a good thing, I don't think sacrificing the better candidate because they didn't meet some quota is right at all... you're just trying to get a mix of people that 'looks different'... but have you checked that they actually are?

Which got me to thinking that there are underlying human traits that defines us as people.
So I'm all in for open borders and diversity of cultures, but in this race for being seen as a diverse, accepting society you've let in people whose viewpoints don't align and it's become menacing. We’re all striving for a better tomorrow so that our unborn children don’t weep in sickness or suffering. Regardless of where you’re from xenophobia affects every culture. Once you’re a minority the only diversity you’ll see is the constant dumbfounded stares of ones new car or impressive career. Guess what, they’re people who talk before they think, mostly. Dear Jordan,
Ideas and attitudes are often culturally conditioned. Individuals do not exist in some imaginary vacuum. In fact, one's environment in which s/he develops is just as much a factor of that person's ideas as anything else. Get with it, Prof!
"Effective counselors understand their own cultural conditioning, the conditioning of their clients, and the sociopolitical system of which they are a part. Acquiring this understanding begins with counselors’ awareness of the cultural origins of any values, biases, and attitudes they may hold. Counselors from all cultural groups must examine their expectations, attitudes, biases, and assumptions about the counseling process and about persons from diverse groups. Recognizing our biases and prejudices takes courage because most of us do not want to acknowledge that we have cultural biases. Everyone has biases, but being unaware of the biased attitudes we hold is an obstacle to client care. It takes a concerted effort and vigilance to monitor our biases, attitudes, and values so that they do not interfere with establishing and maintaining successful counseling relationships.
A major part of becoming a diversity-competent counselor involves challenging the idea that the values we hold are automatically true for others. We also need to understand how our values are likely to influence our practice with diverse clients who embrace different values. Furthermore, becoming a diversity-competent practitioner is not something that we arrive at once and for all; rather, it is an ongoing process."

    Diversity/Inclusion
    🔊
    /dəˌskriməˈnāSH(ə)n/ˈrāˌsizəm/
    noun
    1.
the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.
    "victims of diversity"
    example:
Tanner (Caucasian), wanted to play Santa Clause in an upcoming role in the Christmas play. DeShawn (you know) Also wanted to be Santa in the play, because a girl named Becky (Caucasian) was playing the girl that sat on Santa's lap. Tanner spent months practicing his acting, and memorizing his lines, while DeShawn spent his time smoking pot, and writing rap lyrics. On the day of auditions Debbie (feminist/leftist/racist) who was running the play, chose DeShawn before the auditions even started. Diversity is about recognition of minority groups based upon arbitrary (racist or discriminatory) markers, AND CATEGORIZING INDIVIDUALS INTO GROUPS BASED UPON IDENTITY RATHER THAN MERIT.
Equity is about equality of outcomes rather than equality of opportunities. In other words, it is NOT merit based. It is identity based, and this is NOT fair. It seeks to distribute favourable outcomes based upon identity, rather than merit, and this a disastrous recipe for failure.
Inclusion is about using discriminatory practices to EXCLUDE individuals from participation based upon merit or competence, and to INCLUDE individuals based upon identity in spite of lack of merit or competence, AND THIS IS PREJUDICIAL AND DISCRIMINATORY.
    D.E.I. in a nutshell.

So the answer is to give males and females equal rights.

To play devil’s advocate- On the other hand women and men (and black people and white people) will have had different experiences in life. There is to a degree a female experience or a male experience, so maybe women can bring something to the table that men might not have considered?
I’d still agree there are more differences of experience within groups than between them. But some of the differences between groups will be different to the ones within them- there’ll be some things that women have experienced that almost no men will have and vice versa. So perhaps there could be a benefit to diversity? Not that I think preferential hiring and quotas are a good way to go about enforcing that. I’m not even sure that it’s worth enforcing. But also, what do you do about employers bias (away from women) when hiring?

Granting that assertion- the differences experienced by individual women or black people will still be more substantial. The only way that your statement is universally true is if we take women and black people (and every other demographic under the sun) as individuals. We have to do that anyway because the black business owner is going to have a different life compare to the black heroine addict.

What if I told you that you could have a diverse workforce and a meritocracy at the very same time? It is actually very easy to achieve when you don't automatically assume white men are universally the most "meritorious."

Ok. Look at voting demographics. You are gonna argue there is no correlation here. That the voting differences are gonna be just as likely amongst individuals than race and other factors. Easy. I mean what is black female voting for democrat percentage? Almost 90%?
I'm sure Jordan would happy having no diversity there, democrats for 1000 years.

Being white or black is not a category of race; it is a culture. We are all of the human race with diverse cultures. I like my culture; hence, I must be a culturist.

    • @MMDelta9

White or black are not cultures. I knew a white woman who was born and raised in Kenya only to immigrate to Canada (a country whiter than Edgar Winter in a snow storm). So which culture is she, white or black?
