  • Please like and subscribe. This is how to cheaply convert your turn signal system to LED without having to buy a load resistor. The only thing you have to buy is a $5 LED relay from eBay or Amazon and the turn signals. The ones you see in the video cost me $12 for the pair.

EXCELLENT - if possible, could you do a video on how to wire LED turn signals that also act as brake lights. When I did a friend's FatBoy- I had to use diodes because after applying the brake, the 12 volts would 'backflow' to the flasher module and the lights when just stay on and not blink anymore after releasing the brake. The diodes prevented the 'backflow'.

I'll have to give this some thought. After I figure this out I will make a video and post it on my page. Thank you for the idea and thank you for watching. Please subscribe if you haven't.

I have a much better understanding of this concept after watching this video; thank you. I am having a problem, though, where my signals work great on one side--including the brake--but when I flip to the other side they do not go on at all and the flasher buzzes like crazy. Do you have an idea of what the problem might be?

Sounds like a shorted wire drawing to much current. To much would cause the that problem. If needed you can email me your phone number at hdrap_1999@yahoo.com and I can help further over the phone. Thank you for watching and please subscribe.

Sounds like you’re LED flasher is bad. For $5 I’d try a new one.

I’ve got a 96 softail and I put the timer relay in but still wouldn’t work, I had to put both the relay and the plug-in play resistor to get my led to blink. Without the resistor when I would turn my blinkers on the right side would work but the left side would come on and stay solid but with the resistor the right side blinks and the left sides stays off and vice versa any advice

Thanks this is the problem I'm having. I would like to buy this flasher but I didn't see what it is listed as could you help me so I can go to the parts store and obtain one? Just not sure what to tell them I need.

Okay sorry to be so needy but I got a 2000 Fatboy where is this relay located on that bike if you happen to know and also what would happen if I had front LED turn signals but the standard incandescent installed in the back still and I used this new flasher

@@matthewmennealy5437 You have a turn signal module under your seat. I would try to see if it will work the way it is. If not, you can cut into the output wire and splice in the LED relay. If you need more help email me at hdrap_1999@yahoo.com

@@matthewmennealy5437 You would have to put 2 of the LED flashers in. You would have to cut them in to the wires on pin 3 (Brown) and Pin 4 (violet).

On my bike it has a turn signal module I think it judges through the speedometer how far you've traveled and it turns off I always wished it would be longer but I don't think there's any way to change that it's a Harley from 1998. I know the newer bikes give you more blinker time before it automatically turns off. Unlike a car which has the flipper underneath the steering wheel.
That's why I always turn my or hold my turn signal button down and then eventually release it and then it does turn off but it gives people behind me more time to notice my intention

Yes you are correct. I have a 97 and when I bought my 03 the dealer told me the increased the time they stay on.

I thought I would look for some type of extend blink timer . But for now I'll just keep my finger on the button
