That's why Khaki pants are so universal. They go with everything. Still, it was surprising to see so many straps look so perfect with that watch. Of all the Khaki's, I like the King the best, with the day/date at the top. Very cule. Finally got the steel off mine. Mark Shiivalfinny and I were discussing the Barton's over brunch at the club and we agreed they should most definitely offer a 2 peice.
* This is an elegant watch, so you really need to consider the material a strap is made out of, not just the color. Silicon, canvas & nylon straps are for cheaper casual watches, NOT this beautiful timepiece! This Hamilton looks the best in the glossed printed leather bands. That tan/orange one was stunning on it! ***The nice thing about that understated silver dial is that it's a neutral color, so it will go with just about any other color that you put with it; some are far better than others however. I passed by this watch several times when I was looking to buy my first Swiss timepiece, but on my 6th or 7th time circling back to it I realized that this watch is a beautiful blank slate. I can customize it & take it to a whole new level by just switching straps on it. So, this is the Hamilton that I ordered out the hundreds of watches that I looked at. It'll be fun changing it up & customizing it with different straps.
2 things i would love to see in khaki 38milli, 1. Reduced lug to lug size 2. AR or better AR coating, then it will become a champion because of its already very nice design
I feel like just one millimeter off the lugs one each end would make a huge difference. The one in this video has an aftermarket crystal that made a nice difference.
It's crazy how goldy that barton nato looks huh? I almost feel like they've named it incorrectly :p. It should be DESERT GOLD or something like that!. And yeah, i'm SORRY :p
On Field watches, I always have a weakness for the canvas type options.... At 11:27, the tan Canvas, that was super nice.... The Mr Sailcloth is nice... I also love shark mesh and Milanese mesh, so, no surprise, I love that too....
Damn, that’s a crown and a half on that Hamilton. Never noticed that in your original review. Hadley Roma brown with the white stitching is my favorite as it warms up the dial a hair. And the Barton orange silicone is fun for something sporty.

Simply on the merit of potential value appreciation, i'd get the SARB035. It may increase in price a lot. Wear it for a little while then get the Hamilton!
I have a similar khaki king and often use it as a dress watch with a nice leather band. Next day a green zulu strap and it's my day to day field watch. It's the watch I recommend most. I have not found a strap that doesn't fit that watch. Mine is black dial so I even wear it with a orange perlon band during summer. The khaki mechanical limited is very tempting too but getting hard to find.
I am most likely going to acquire the king. Even though the size isn't my favorite as my wrist is smaller, It should still be a nice piece to have and hold and to cherish and tell it dirty secrets.
It doesn't feel big on the wrist since the profile is low. There are two movement in the king, older ones where eta but the new one are hamilton h30 with longer power reserve but lower beat rate. I have the H30 one with the nicer rotor and it's running around +4 s/d so not bad at all.
i have the black dial version on the brown leather strap it comes with and i already want to try it out with a million other colorful nato straps! I feel like it might look interesting in an orange, so I'll try it out sometime

Great to see you back. You are making me get a sail cloth strap, never had one. Do you prefer metal or cloth keepers on your NATO's? The boys were a little mean. They need a timeout.
I actually prefer the cloth keepers on these Barton's. Just FYI. if you plan on swapping out that sailcloth, you might want to put some quick-release pins in them. These straps are TAUGHT. They are difficult to remove once on.
For me, it will mostly be the a Barton Elite silicone since I use this watch to go to the gym a lot. I tried working out while wearing leather straps. There's an eventual smell :p
Oh, can you recommend any blue lumed quartz, preferably diver? Getting tired of the normal green, and a quartz is so much convenient, not like auto or handwind.

I second this! I like the idea of a nato for a durable, sporty, washable strap, but just can't get into the way they wear with all the extra hardware and bulk. A two piece would be amazing, especially if it had multiple length options like many of Barton's straps do. Keep us posted!

I went with the silver, it's a neutral color so almost any color of strap will work with it. With the black you're really limited to 3 or 4 colors.
