    Dude this is something. The cable management may be overkill but that level of obsession with detail is becoming a lost art. Thank you for taking the time to share. Thumbs up.

      Shouldn’t have any issues if you enrol in Big Sur Beta program download that as well as SwitchResX and make sure you use a USB-C to display port either 4 or 8k cable.
      Easily gets 5120x1440 32:9 using SeitchResX
      Done this on my new M1 MacBook Pro with a G9 Odyssey. Works fine.

    I know here in Canada and the states we get what is called an old work box which is a frame with the wings but no pack panel. It's a bit easier to work with multiple cables as you don't have to worry about holes in the box or grommets to protect the cables from rubbing. You can also get a box that can let plastic conduits attach using fittings that snap in place if you want a conduit run between locations. Handy for the attic to basement chases providing you don't have to block across vertical struts for fire protection. In that case, you have to cut above or below the blocking drill a hole in the blocking run the conduit through the hole, and then place fire retardant foam around it on both sides of the blocking. Now the final exam. repeat your process for the other 300 rooms in the hotel and have it done in two days!

    Cut two holes in the wall to make a 12 inch cable run. Gotta love that commitment to detail! My lazy ass would just throw some spiral cable wrap around it and call it a day. Great looking setup!

    Instead of rods you can use gravity and drop them from the top. Add weight to it if needed. Such a small distance no need but for longer drops maybe.

    I have the same setup with an M1 Mac Mini and CRG9. It’s a very wide monitor, but really pleasant to work with, especially having tuned the sharpness. You do need quite a deep desk. I have mine mounted on a swing away arm, but the weight is right on the limit. Need a decent cable to make DisplayPort work.

    • @cmfunboxing5309
      @cmfunboxing5309  3 года назад +1

      I did look at the swing arm but wasn't confident enough in the weight limits so opted for the wall mount - it also worked out slightly better for me due to the space. Thanks for watching.

    Beautiful set up but I would be VERY worried on how you mounted your monitor to the wall. The grip-its are fine, but putting all that weight in one area can & will in time cause your wall to fail. You really should have used one of the larger rail mounts to spread the load. I pray it doesn't happen but as someone who regularly does this kind of thing, I feel like I should tell you. If your TV installers used a similar bracket with grip-its in your other room, I would be very concerned about that too. To use that type of mount correctly you would need to be attaching it to a concrete wall or directly on to a wall stud. Im sure you will say well it hasn't fallen off yet! And please God it doesn't, but I certainly would not be hanging any monitor directly on to plasterboard that weighs over 5KG. The mounts won't fail, the plasterboard will!

    • @cmfunboxing5309
      @cmfunboxing5309  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for the feedback - TV installers did use the rail mount. Following this comment I make sure to check regularly on any signs of fatigue or failure. No signs of movement at the moment!

    Looks like a great set-up, clean and uncluttered, just two problems with it. As I have a PLEX system with 4,200 Blue-Ray ripped 4K movies and the 1,032 iTunes purchased movies all stored on my WD My Cloud PR4100 24Tb I most likely would mount that on the side or underneath the desk. The other thing is I would never put a 49’ers helmet on my desk, it just seems to cheapen the whole set-up. I personally would have a Detroit Red Wings helmet, I know they are in a rebuilding stage right now but you can’t argue with the fact that since 1984 they have made the playoffs 30 times including 25 years in a row from 1991 to 2016. The really impressive thing is in the 93 years of the Red Wings they have made the playoffs 64 of those years. Anyway nice setup, just lose the 49’ers helmet 😜

    • @joelbechtolt

    "What's the point of having a nice setup if you haven't got a nice screen to put it onto."
    These are words to live by. I had to plead with some of my friends, whom I helped put together their new gaming builds, so they would allocate the budget towards a new display as well. There's no point in getting a 6700 XT when you still use your old TN panel 60 Hz LCD. One of them even had a sub 1080p screen and he got that GPU to go with it.

    Don't route power through the wall...(I mean - do whatever you'd like, but I would advise STRONGLY against it) you could have spent some more time to just add a proper insulated box for wall power that piggy backs off of an existing outlet on a power strip...or anything else. That would be the ONE cable I would pull back out and keep outside of the wall.

    Not to pick a nit, but SSDs are storage not memory. Huge difference.

    Good video thank you. Just one question: how did you connect your samsung monitor to your Mac Mini M1 (thru the HDMI cable) ? Have a nice day :)

      Originally through HDMI, but got better results using the Thunderbolt to Display Port cable. That improved the refresh rate.

    Hey mate, amazing setup and neat cable management. I’ve got the same monitor connected to me MacBook but the colours in it are terrible. Especially the blacks in movies can make the whole seen look dark. Do you have the same problem? Did you use a colour calibrator?

    • @cmfunboxing5309
      @cmfunboxing5309  3 года назад

      Hi - I haven't had any issues like that. I haven't used any colour calibration or anything, it just worked from the start. Sorry, I know that won't help you with your issues but I can't offer much more really.

    This was a great video! I’m about to go thru the exact same thing myself. What was the migration process like?

    • @cmfunboxing5309
      @cmfunboxing5309  3 года назад +1

      It was super easy - but did take a bit of time (3 - 4 Hours). Powered up both macs, found the migration system on both and turned it on. They found each other by bluetooth, conformation password/code and the exchange took place. It took a while, but was really easy and seamless. My only advice is to clean your old device up and delete any files you don't need, just to shorten the transfer process. Sorry I didn't film it! Thanks for watching

    Thank you and well done! Without a USB C port available on the Samsung monitor, how do you connect the Mac Mini to the monitor and what refresh rate were you able to achieve?

    • @cmfunboxing5309

      I am using HDMI and am getting a refresh rate of 120Hz - that's the max the Mini will allow.

    This monitor is not a good purchase if you have a Macbook pro, I have 2018 MBP 13 inch and I ended up returning the monitor. The text was blurry and hurt my eyes to read.

    Great video, just wanted to know how the monitor is going after all this time? anything you don't like? im thinking of buying one to use with MacBook Pro M1.. and will soon get a Mac mini M1. wondering what the screen is like. not sure if I go this big or just stick with a 34" Ultrawide. have you played any games on it? how is it for video editing? thanks! cheers!

      Its still going really well. I have not had any issues with it at all, its reliable, no pixels have dropped out etc. I don't use it all day every day but I am happy with it.

    So when you want to close a program completely, you'll have to drag your mouse across the wide screen to close it on the far left, no? Or is there a shortcut key for that?

    • @cmfunboxing5309
      @cmfunboxing5309  3 года назад +1

      Thats the sacrifice of a ultra wide monitor :) I just might need some spare batteries for the mouse!

    Looks like you had to remount monitor at the end of video. You can see the height has changed and your cable hiding solution is visible. But nice setup none the less
