      Hey Mad, Crystalsky is not working with my Mavic Air 2, I found a 7" android tablet with high brightness 1000 nit tablet seems to be the perfect companion to fly the Mavic Air 2 tripltek.com . I will love to see a review of this tablet.

    Thanks, mate. I just bought one in 2024 because it's one of the few options which will allow me to put a recently acquired DJI Matrice 200 V2 in the air. I couldn't load the app on an iPad or an Android device.

      Congrats its a really good device, Make sure you update the firmware, I personally recommend the below for out the box setup, it's important you Update to the latest firmware.
      1: After Initial setup factory reset by going into Settings, Backup & Reset, Factory Data Reset then clicking Reset Device.
      2: When it reboots reconnect CrystalSky to your wifi network (you will need to put the password in again) then go into Setting, then Update and click Check For Updates, the latest firmware is V02.02.08.01, let it update and reboot.
      3:After the update has completed I strongly recommend performing the Factory Data Reset in step 1 again just to set the image back to default then you should be all good.

    I have the Mavic2 pro and use the 5.5” crystalsky monitor. The batteries were discharging a few percent the day after fully charging, on the Crystalsky in the GO4 app there is no provision to set discharge time ie: 1 to 10 days, I solved this problem by doing the setup with my iPad Pro. Time will tell if it works, I welcome your comments. Regards, Keith British Columbia Canada

    The Osmo multi charger also uses the same plug, though it is not included with that either. At least you can charge the Crystalsky and Osmo off of the same adapter.

    Makes for a far more stable platform I find. I have never had an airborne disconnect or crash on my particular CrystalSky, as opposed to loads on 3rd party phones or tablets. Reason? Loads of software competing for access to GPS and Wifi resources on the device, many of which boot up when the phone/ tablet is on. DJI GO 4 is VERY resource hungry, and anything that can and will conflict with it and its connection with the aircraft can be a real problem

    Great Video! Sorry but how does it works for updates? I mean, now i use my phone with my Mavic and the app is constantly updated, how does it works for the Crystalsky? Are the app on it updated regularly on smartphones or not? Thanks

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 лет назад

      Originally the App was updated with the whole system image and yes this means its been lagging a few versions behind, DJI have added the facility to update the app as a standalone but they have not triggered this as of yet so will have to see.
      App updated for CS have been lagging behind because of this.

    My Crystal Sky Ultrabright is a nice device, if it were reliable. DJI Go 4 (the latest version for P4P 2.0) crashes about every flight, if the temperature is above 70 degrees outside. I had two flights where it didn't have an application error. The temperature was 59 degrees both nights.
    I suspect the CS Ultra doesn't have the CPU power to handle Intelligent Flight mode and video downlink a the same time, either. When using IFM, the video downlink is constantly freezing, pixellating, tearing, etc. As soon as I stop IFM, the video becomes clear and fluid
    Lots of random app hangs, terminations, even reboots occasionally, and somewhat sluggish UI. For instance switching the camera to stills mode is sluggish and usually results in DJI Go 4 not responding errors.
    $999 is a lot of money for something that I could not trust for flying.

    Cool video. It seems the offline map option has changed and when I try and enter a location name for the area it seems impossible to type anything without extra characters being entered into the name. Tried a factory reset but the same. Also rather shocked it still uses Android 5 with very out of date security patches.

    Before I drop $ 1,000 on a 7" Crystal Sky monitor I would get the DJI FPV goggles.
    That's a lot of money for a super bright monitor.

    I am not selling DJI products so here is a HONEST REVIEW
    How about tell everyone that the DJI CS has THREE BIG PROBLEMS? I just got a 7.85" today to find out that:
    1- out of the box the compass does not work, the calibration of the compass built in the CS is a joke and do nothing.
    2- keep getting "Strong Wirelss Interference" warnings....the CS is the one creating the interferences...I never, ever had this warning with my iPad4 Mini, swicthed back to iPad and got ZERO warnings.
    3- it crashes, crashed TWICE and I was not even flying
    those problems are being reported at DJI Forum all over, DJI have no fix for the problems at present, the fix for the compass they already said will not be firmware...will need to send all CS's back to DJI

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 лет назад

      Hi Ed, Thanks for you message, At the time of recording these videos I was using Beta firmware, It would be unfair to say something does not work on firmware that was not available to the public.
      1: What is correct that yes after the release the compass is still not working correctly, this has been feedback by many including my self, the latest firmware has improved it but its still not perfect although I have been finding it OK actually after a few calibrations, this is an issue that stills needs to be resolved though.
      2: On the Wireless interference thing this is a little more complicated, first of all it depends on what craft you are using, the Crystalsky WIFI antennas are located right behind the back panel, this means if your using CS with the antennas vertical they can be very close to the back and yes it appears to pick up something thats triggering the warnings, this however has not actually been affecting the signal its just giving warnings.
      The fist thing to help this is make sure you turn off Wifi before you fly, secondly try to keep the antennas off the back of Crystalsky, If your using a phantom or Inspire try rotating them 180 so they are pointing down not up, it will make zero difference to the signal performance the antennas pointing up or down as long as they are vertically polarised, Finally you will also notice flying in 5Ghz will not give any warnings, Again this has been noticed and the same as the above stands and its been reported and we hope DJI can improve this.
      Finally the reason it does not affect your iPhone or iPad is the shel is largely shielding the Wifi signal, the whole back shell is aluminium with the Wifi antennas located behind the glass at the front, this is giving much more separation.
      3: Lastly I am not seeing this behaviour my self, If its crashing I strongly suggest making sure its fully updated to the latest firmware then after the update performing a factory reset by going into Backup & Reset, Factory Data Reset then clicking Reset Device.
      Yes the compass is currently and issue and the wireless interference massage does happen but its depending on craft and setup used, again make sure you turn off the Wifi on CS.
      Thanks for your message.

    Can you please help me with this problem... Crytalsky 5.5 doesn't detect anymore my Wifi address from my router... in Setting / Wi-fi my address doesn't appear all other addresses are ok and works fine, can't find an answer on the Web to resolve this problem, I can't update there is no wi-fi signal..Thanks

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  4 года назад

      This is usually caused by incorrect location settings. , first thing to do is checked the time and Date settings are correct as this can often cause issues. Then try as follows. Turn on the GPS in the Crystalsky and location settings and then leave outside in-view of clear sky for 10 minutes. Then see if it will connect. Have you tried both bands ?

      Really need your expertise.. Yesterday Dji Go4 could not open so I use Litchi and it works fine, so I flew for several minutes... so I decided to do a reset factory expecting to solve my problem...but now Go4, Litchi, and Google doesn't work...they can't find my network address... I am an artist, not a developer that is why I need your help...thanks again

    BIG PROBLEM!!
    I just got my new CS 2000 nits and there is a really big problem. Even though I updated the firmware when I try to log into my dji account on the Dji go4 app it's says there is no internet connection. The internet dose work! I can surf the web. Only the log in process is falling. Any ideas?

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  6 лет назад

      Do a factor reset on the Crystalsky Device and setup Wifi again, to reset
      To Reset
      Go to Settings
      Select Backup & Reset
      Select Factory Data Reset
      Tick the Erase SD Card Option
      Click Reset Device.
      Note this will clear Crystalsky of all data including any flight logs or image cache, if you wish to keep your DJI Go logs you would need to sync them with DJI before resetting, to keep any image cache data you can transfer this to an external SD card or USB memory stick before you reset via explorer.

      N'th DEGREE AERIAL PERSPECTIVES currently no is my understanding, it is Android so I would not be shocked to see some work around come at some point to be able to get 3rd party apps but again that would not be supported by DJI and as such could affect the warranty.

      I am told there is a hack out there that will allow you to install 3rd party apps...
