It’s almost pointless to wrap the top side threads with teflon tape. What you want to definitely seal is the bottom side in case the rubber compression gasket doesn’t squeeze to the root of the threads on the tube. That’s where it can leak on the bottom side and if that’s sealed it doesn’t matter up top. Plumbers putty alone is good up top.
Thank you! Mine works fine, no leaks. The only thing that is bothering me is the stopper jiggles around easily in the open position, but it doesn’t leak. Any idea why the stopper isn’t more firm?
Hi Nathan. Thanks for taking the time to show how to. I bought a faucet similar to your Moen but the waste tube pop up assy. has a flat black rubber washer that sits against the sink bowl. Do you think it's needed to apply the plumber putty or will the rubber seal be adequate? Thanks Greg
In my case, my waste seat is rusted to the brass drain body and cutting was needed. During cutting, the sink was cracked. We ended up needing to replace the sink and because the gaskets are all rotted and cannot be reused, made many trips to home depot, lowes to find the right gaskets. Totally spent 3 days to put everything back. It was a nightmare.
“Worked out perfectly”. It always does on the videos.
Thank you. All I wanted to see for my installation
Excellent video

Hi Nathan, "Oates Plumber Puddy" label states not to use on plastic? Is it ok? bc the waste seat is plastic
Good catch, but it always works great for me. It’s ok!

The video is so incorrect, it's comical. Would recommend you and others search for the Correct Steps. See my post.
