It should easily come out whole top-piece from the sink. I installed the old disposal and I had no problem. This time, I bought MOEN GXP50C, and I could only turn to lock about 50%. it is so hard to lock it all the way, why? However, I used three set safety wires to secured the disposal.

I ordered 4 of these, and while waiting for them to be delivered from Home Depot, I watched your vid a couple of times. When I got them I thought they had sent me the wrong valves and hose connection. Turns out they updated those parts so it is even easier to install the valves. The only hard part was removing the old faucet. The nut holding the faucet would not nudge at all. Finally a a small needle nose vice grip made it move. I used teflon paste on the hot and cold water connections to the valves. Looks beautiful.

If the electricity was off, why did the electric meter light up when you tapped it to the line?

Is the down pipe needed? I got this disposal but my pipes aren’t set up the same I have a straight drain pipe

Thank You. You saved me $284 on installation. That’s how much Home Depot wanted. Did it myself. Wasn’t quick for me because the Moen Prep didn’t fit exactly as the badger. Different pipe size to the drain. 24 hours later and it’s all dry under the sink.

I installed my first Moen Garbage Disposal and noticed a metal clunking noise when it first starts, then it’s really quiet. Is everybody experiencing that initial noise? Just wondering.
