I use to go to Chinatown early morning and pick up groceries and some bakery in Little Italy and zip back. I will no longer do it if I have to pay a toll to patron those small mom and pop stores. I'll go to Chinatown in Queens and or Italian spots in Brooklyn instead. Do the math,..why would anyone choose to pay more, when they can go somewhere else.
June 30th is an interesting date. Most people are away starting in July, so they can claim less cars because of pricing, but in reality it’s due to summer vacations.
They conveniently moved the date from the 15th to the 30th. The 15th is a week and a half before the end of school. An extra $15 in and $15 out may have been enough to make school staff call in sick those last few days.

@@incognito3743 I’ve heard that may be the case but I’m still not sure how it works. Is a day an actual 24 hour period or does it reset at midnight regardless of how many hours ago you paid? If it’s anything like EZpass your tolls won’t post in real time so you can monitor your spending. For me spending a weekend with friends would charge in and out. It’s all onerous. NYC has some of the most expensive rents in the country. Why can’t property tax fund the cities needs like anywhere else?

I am so sick and tired of the criminal government organization referred to as MTA. Here in California the MTA is starting to charge to use the carpool lanes on freeways. These are the roads that we pay through taxes to built. And now they want us to pay so that we can use it. If less people can use those same roads, then we all should pay less for roads. It seems like the MTA can do whatever they want when it comes to roads. About 10 to 15 years ago, the MTA in Los Angeles raise the price of public transportation. The president and the MTA announced that the agency needed more money to meet the demand. But that very same MTA president had his office remodeled with imported marble from Italy. The remodeling cost taxpayers and bus riders about 100 grand. I actually believe it was 200. What a clown! Sadly, I see that LA is not the only city with a rogue MTA agency.
How many of the MTA board members take mass transit. Also the Commissioners and concil mbrs.

The congestion pricing is really to target businesses ($35) and it won't change the way they come into the city. Businesses will just pass down the cost, guarenteeing the MTA will get Billions form this plan. Charging personal drivers is just a small percentage. Maybe the get a few million if drivers eat the cost, but MTA is hoping that too ($15 vs $5.8 = 2 swips).

They cause the congestion then they want to charge people for it. I'll say this much. I'll happily pay $30 if they banned Uber/lyft etc (the cause of most of the congestion and will be heavily discounted at $2.50 per trip paid by the passenger) get rid of all the bike lanes, outdoor dining shacks and put the BQE back to the way it was in 2017 😂🤣

I want to know, dou you get charged when you enter or when you exit? And for the overnight schedule, if I go in after 9pm and get out after 5am next day I'll have to pay twice?.
Of course if you live in the center of Manhattan, it’s cheaper and faster. Not so much for other Boroughs.

what about the tens of thousands of plumbers, e;lectricians,hvac ,carpenters and other teades that have to drive a van into the city to service all the buildings? or the thousands of trucks that deliver food to stores and resturants and supermarkets. they're all getting hit with this tool. impossible for all tyhe trades and food deliveries to use maas transit. no one ever emntions all of those people . they in turn will increase their prices and then the storeand restuarant owners will have to raise their prices and pass the increased cost off to their customers. all the city is interested in is making money off of the drivers .it has northing to do with cleaner air or less traffic.
