Interesting how quickly they were able to put up those scanners but haven't been able to pave the exit ramp from the GWB to the Harlem River Drive in 40 years.
Yes or fill potholes, fix the sewers, etc. The city is very efficient when it comes to putting up speed/red light cameras and unused bike lanes.
Facts . I live in Harlem for 16 years and as long as I remember those potholes were there.
Got flat there 😂
NY is dead💀
Get out of New York City now. Escape while you still can. Run and never look back.
I'm disappointed born and raised native and this is how they repay me the city I loved so much has been taken over by clowns. Instead of running, we need to take NY back from these street sitting bike riding nuts.
This is an MTA problem. How does it become the problem of those who do not use the subway? Congestion pricing is just a money grab, the subways will remain in the same unsafe condition as they are now. If the MTA enforced fines on those who do pay. They wouldn't have money issues.
Another one of NYC's money grabs. Disgusting.
Why don't they just tax the ultra-wealthy and leave us normal folks alone!?
Blah blah blah. It will get worse but all involved will get richer.
The NYC GOVERNMENT execs in the fancy suits DON'T TAKE SUBWAYS!
Actually, quite a lot of them _do_ take the Subway, or have done so regularly in the not so distant past. Even Bankers on Wall St. expect to take the Subway. It is the norm. Generally, only weirdos, stubborn people, and the uncommon sort who has good cause to do so would ever drive into this part of Manhattan. Of course, there might be the odd exception, but that is true, generally speaking.
@@unconventionalideas5683no they do not take the train, they have government cars. I work by the mta building, they have special plates. Also alot of wall street guys dont drive into the city because they live outside of the five boroughs. People dont drive into the city have to drive into work not because they want to but because they have to!!!!
If you want to reduce congestion, let those that can work remotely do so.
Already a thing, and already grossly inadequate.
Businesses are going to pack up and leave. Too much crime, regulations, and cost. Now to get the supplies and goods it'll cost even more. If you're a doctor, teacher, police officer, nurse, etc. You're now going to have to pay just to go to work. Can't wait to see how the union contracts are going to be for people who work in Manhattan. Cause i know the unions are going to demand a arm and a leg pay increase. To cover the extra cost of driving into work. This extra pay increase will also go to workers who take public transportation and not drive. So this will be even more pay for them. And if people are mad that the price of a beacon egg and cheese is a lot now. Just wait until congestion pricing kicks in.
Except most people already use transit and cars are very much a choice, and they will be even more so with the improvements in bus services that will inevitably result. Furthermore, fuel consumption and wear and tear will decrease, as will the amount of labor required per delivery, which should bring down delivery costs.
People give unions too much credit these days. They're usually trash unlike how they used to be.
Lmao, it won't bring down any costs. This is NYC, not Europe. MTA's budget is already great, and they have improved nothing. People use transit and cars when they have a choice. Blue-collar workers don't, and teachers don't. The stations need to be more safe and transit stinks. They don't even have a plan for their improvements. 14 years late?
@@unconventionalideas5683, the MTA have been singing that song about improving train and bus services every time they wanted to increase the fare .
Out of all the fare increases over the decades the only thing that the MTA has done was to build the 2nd Ave train line that only benefits a small section of the city .
They have been working on the " L " line for years .
The MTA is an unaccountable money pit that isn't really a public agency , and it is more a private company .
The MTA being more a private company is what allows them to thumb their noses at any state and city request to audit their books .
In no damn way should a semi private company like the MTA should be erecting tolls on city public streets that they do not service and repair .
NYC residents pay a city tax that goes to the city budget to finance the NYC Department of Transportation that is responsible for road repairs and traffic signs and traffic devices maintenance , also NYC tax money goes towards financing the NYC Department Of Sanitation that is responsible for cleaning the streets and removing snow off the streets .
The MTA do not allocate any budget money towards any of those street services , but yet they are allowed to erect tolls on those very same city streets 🤔 .
The Mayor and the City Council has failed to represent NYC tax paying residents interest and they just rolled over for this highway robbery by the MTA .
If only they had showed as much political passion and action as they did for the illegal aliens 😡😡😡 .
The NYC tax payers are getting their pockets killed . Smh
They should rename all these crazy projects after the people who signed off on it. “Cuomo & Hochul toll”
Whats next? they gonna limit the amount of times we flush the toilet?
Yay, now the MTA board will vote themselves hefty raises. Bet they voted themselves exemptions.
No, they did not. They made it clear that their cars would _not_ be exempt. Municipal vehicles on official duty would be exempt, but not commissioner or elected official cars.
@@unconventionalideas5683 Yeah keep on believing them if you want. What they say to the public is one thing, what they do is another.
Yea all the cops and their families are exempt. So most of staten island
@@unconventionalideas5683 yea officially going home on duty. Im sure the audit on the books will have alot of that when theres a report uncovering it in 2 years
Enforce the subway fare instead of penalizing motorists. Fare evaders are bleeding the MTA dry and committing crime.
It is not just fare evaders it is many people never went back after covid since they are working from home. Who wants to be on the train when people are getting shoved to the tracks.
Mta is bleeding the country .
Fare evasion is a scapegoat for MTA mismanagement of funds. This scapegoat is used to pit the working class against the poor as a distraction from mismanagement.
The MTA is not managing funds efficiently. Even if every single person is forced to pay fares, with no exceptions, the MTA will claim it's broke. It's a scapegoat.
It's a double-edged sword, and the only people that lose are those getting to work, whatever the method of transportation. It's definitely a money grab.
You know who is making the money. The companies who collect the unpaid tolls or the fine for no ezpass. City only gets a small share.
They working so hard to destroy the city it's amazing we're still surviving.
The way NYC is going it won't be long that traffic congestion is no longer an issue with businesses and residents leaving.
It’s like watching a clown show. The whole country is laughing at you New York.😂
NYC is over crowded. It's the best place to be. If you're in NY and want to leave. Please! Leave!!!
You don know this isnt the only city with congestion pricing right, London, Singapore, San diego, few others, Im not for it but if theres one place that needs it its probably NYC.
the rest of the country is not nearly as dense and crowded as NYC
Actually, this has been used to great success in London, Singapore, Stockholm, Milan and others.
@@unconventionalideas5683this failed in London, what are you talking about?
I don't understand this, they want less cars to come to the city but also gain money from cars coming in the city, so WTF they want cars coming to the city or not?
They have too many cars in that city
this is going to kill the city its really not cool. who voted for this shit ?
Bro! Those prices for passing through look insane! You’d go broke in about 1 week.
I have an idea.... why don't the Manhattan companies open up satellite offices closer to the employees. Offices in all 5 boros, offices in white plains, offices in Long Island, and offices in NJ. Keep their employees closer to their homes.
It turns out that most people, given a choice of where to live by remote work, move in closer to the central areas, unless conditions there are unpleasant, such as those created by the unpleasantness of motor traffic.
How about work from home?
@@jimkelly4214 management wants to control employees. They don't want WFH.
With this coming high prices for food and services in New York city. All this extra charges for delivery trucks will go strait to customers.
I have something to say. MOVE OUT OF NY!!!!
No!!!!! Stay in ny, we don't want you in nj!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And go where? FARGO🤷♂️?
@@bigtaskat-hand4742 No. Loving County, Texas!!! Just look that county up in Wikipedia and you'll see what I mean.
As a subway rider, I don't support congestion pricing because the subways are overcrowded as is without forcing more people into the subways.
Traffic congestion is no issue when Biden comes to town.
this kill small business. you believe this bs.
Can't go after fare-evaders to pay for the transit. That'd be too sensible and fair. Oh well, NYC is getting the policies it deserves.
1:08 Cuomo said it all. Either they pay or someone else will pay for them. What kind of threat was that to them?
1:08 Oh yes.. Cuomo said it all. Either the fare evaders will pay or someone will pay it for them. How's that a threat to them?
im from Brooklyn born nd raise,,,,,they have been updating the train my whole life....its still the worse....this was supposed to lower tolls for subway commuters, well it increased and they still added congestion pricing ...mind you its always new stations (cosmetic) and changes in rich neighborhoods
nd to touch on the police presence... they re not doing anything but harassing the teens and immigrants who hop they need to be on the platform nd in the trains where the crime happens not at the turnstile
@@dds4eva25💯💯💯
They been fixing the same signals since i was in 5th grade
My cousin younger than me now got a kid thats about to be in 3rd grade
Signals still ain't fixed in the bx 😂😂
@dds4eva25 when the last time u seen people fighting at the turnstile.
@@viv8976 lol exactly they’re at the turnstile “saving Mta money” ….no save the lives of the patrons
Isn't this being tried in London right now and has turned out to be a total failure and is costing London more than it ever took in because of the destruction of cameras and to push back from the citizens?
We too soft in nyc to do anything
All they will say is "its to protect the children" and the masses cave in and let dumb laws pass
Ten years to build the gateway tunnel? In their dreams. Take any estimate they make and double both the cost and time.
How in the hell can anyone stand to live in a city as crowded and expensive as NYC?! 😩
The food is great
@@MidtownMeezus Can't argue with that. Food is amazing here.
@@MidtownMeezusThat's all the more reason to "visit" NYC, not live there.
@@LesRequiem957That's a heavy price to pay for great-tasting food, both literally and figuratively.
Hypothetical: if this has the desired effect, it will reduce congestion and at the same time, reduce parking violations issued to vehicles. What are city officials going to do in order to make up the deficit?
They usually don’t think that far ahead
Its not going to do anything except cause more traffic in other areas and increase the price of goods everywhere because if you can get away with it in Manhattan why cant I in Brooklyn?
They will add more traffic cams
Lower the speed limit to 15
Add congestion pricing to the Bronx and Brooklyn and Queens
Remove as much parking as they can and extend the parking block from 7 pm to 10
And then probably charge $7 for one hour and $18 for 2 hours to park.
Ny will find a way
Get rid of waste and corruption! Possibly privatized transportation so it run and operate more efficiently. And let them be involved in construction projects of new subways and EL lines!
The mere fact they go away with putting the LIRR underneath the Metro North shows that combinding these agencies under one umbrella has nothing to do with cutting costs. Because the turf wars between the departments still exist.
This will be a disaster
So make the regular working people who drive pay to repair and maintain the mta subway... while the mta pocket all profits...
If your going to Queensboro bridge from 2nd Ave. will you get charge too? I saw the camera in 2nd Ave. at 60 St.
I'm just so glad I can work remote. Commercial real estate owners in Manhattan, brace for impact.
improve air quality? wtf are they talking about? This wont even reduce traffic!
It has worked in London, Singapore, Stockholm, Milan, and other smaller cities around the world. Why would it not work in NYC?
Those cities were already heavily investing in modernizing their mass transit. Compare the quality of transit in those countries with the MTA alternative, it's a fucking joke @@unconventionalideas5683
@@unconventionalideas5683No it hasnt. Go peddle you bs somewhere else bot
@@unconventionalideas5683ask the people in london, it doesn’t work.
All it is doing is worsening the air quality in other areas cars that need to commute aren’t going to magically disappear. They’re going to go somewhere.
Great, new subways for the bums to sleep in.
That’s right.BUMS!
Objective lengthy report. Keep more of these videos coming.
Solution? - STOP building new buildings in Manhattan!!!
First of all the MTA has been mismanaging money for years. Second people are not paying their fares. Allot of times they either jump the turnstile on the subways and when it comes to buses they go right in without paying the fare to the point the bus drivers don't even care to enforce this.
Get ready to businesses relocating, job losses, higher prices, empty storefronts, etc. if this survives in court. Hopefully it doesnt but just be prepared.
NYC is the capital commence of the world. This is happening because we need ppl and businesses to leave.
@@jbalien20 HUH
@@m-fee4359 it's overcrowded. NYC is not a boring city, but it's way over crowded. We need ppl to leave. We need businesses to move to other states so ppl can be comfortable enough to move and work as well. There's too many ppl here.

@@al89988lmaoooooo he replied back to me and im just goin to ignore it. i cant with these people and their crazy logic.
Not 1080p ? Haiti or nyc!?
Why are the turn stalls so tight?
Everyone is going to pay even if you don’t own a vehicle, the trucks that deliver our food and gas ect is going to have to pay more so I guess we know who’s going to pay the hike price
Why are the poles so thick? Prison city.
Pay to use the roads you’re taxed for, and btw you’re already also taxed for owning a car based on its “value”. Which they just love to inflate just like your home. What you charged orange man for we should charge you for NYC.
What gave NYC the right to charge congestion fees. Maybe every place should start charging entrance fees.
The MTA is staffed with people who are experts at wasting or embezzling money, they don't need more, truth be told if it were run by competent people it could use less, but frankly big government and big union greed knows no bounds.
And they voted themselves on the congestion pricing decision. Of course it passed unanimously. They voted to give themselves money.
Enjoy your $300 grocery bill and watching MTA squander it. When all the fortune 500 businesses pass along the buck to you. And when all those small businesses in that zone close.
I give it 400 days.
Imagine blaming the drivers instead of the city that purposefully manipulated light cycles to create traffic and push the shortest yellow light cycles to create camera tickets. Not to mention removal of Parking and lanes. To add buslanes and bike lanes that are rarely used and only enforced when a car drives in one. But a bus not in a bus lane? Nothing
Like they added all these redlight and speeding cams, with new power and Internet lines to poor neighborhoods that barely had working infrastructure. but "signals " is where they been slow to make a move? 🤣🤣i
I don’t live in NY and will never do. From an outsider point of view it is so expensive no one should. Cold, high crime, and normal people can’t live or go there.
Congestion pricing will do what is says, stop congestion in NYC. It will accomplish this by people leaving NYC. Less residents will definitely cause a decrease in congestion. Call it what it is, a hidden tax just like all the speed cameras in NYC.
Why they don’t take 45% of the city officials salary instead to help pay the MTA issues.
Too many signs to pay attention to any of them.
No amount of toll & tax money will help with mismanagement.
These things are implemented before anybody has a saying. Days before it goes into effect it goes to Court. and it's approved. Manhattan is Crazy . even parked you get a Ticket. I never Drive into Manhattan.
if you add it all up in the last few years with rent hikes food hikes fuel hikes everyday cost have gone up you can soildily expect to be about 20k extra per year out of your pocket
Maybe getting nothing but high crime for 50% of your income, 10% sales tax, gas tax, vehicle registration tax, property tax, health insurance, car insurance, and $30 for eggs is why people don’t want to pay an additional $26 dollars for what they already paid for.
Congestion pricing is a scam. They should be investigated especially Hoechul guarantee she received money for her approval. She is also Jewish just like the MTA chairman. Investigate that. Everyone should sue to stop this. New Yorkers are getting poorer.
Random bag checks. You can deny the search and walk out the train station. Then try again. 😅😅.
Why they dont talk about the millions of dollars in bonuses they mta hire up get while miss using the mta funds
Not changed in decades.
Signal stations look dangerous. Should wifi wireless?
1:08 Cuomo said it all. "Either the rider pays the fare or it's congestion pricing" and the car owners will pay the fare evaders fare for them.
How's that for a fair threat?
New Jersey is the last One to talk. their a EZ pass scanners sometimes work and then when they make give the bill and add 50.00 on the a 5 dollar toll.
Install Ring doorbell cameras 📷
Enough !!!!
As if the 8.875% Sales Tax rate isn't enough to sustain NYC 🤔
1 billion dollars means nothing when you have to pay prevailing wage for everything..... at this point unions of MTA are BS.
All those board members who voted for it are gon a split the money thats why theyre so happy..they arent fooling anyone..never goin back to ny ever again if i can help it.theyll still do this and still rsise the fare and tolls..thatll tell you where the congestion money is goin😂😂
Every old.
Too many people wanting to live in the same area .. at the end of the day it’s as simple as that
Nothing is safe in this city the stations itself is shit it’s just another money grab that the MTA is doing
Asylum Seekers get
$1000 monthly, plus
$350 weekly (for a baby, that's est. $2500 a month for a kid)
Money doesn't grow on trees.
They need an air tax! Lung capacity, job activity and income level should be what the life saving, environmentally friendly tax measure should be based. I'm a democrate and I support this measure.
MTA elevators are broken most of the time
Wow, jobs should pay for the tolls. Not the hard working workers
Every violent incident on public transit becomes a news story. The reality is it’s much safer to take transit than to drive a car. Motor vehicles are a leading cause of death. Getting murdered on the subway, while horrific when the rare incident happens, is very much not. It’s just blown way out of proportion by the media.
A bag of chips is going to be $10 bucks below 60st soon
It would have been a lot easier to just put a high tax on parking and raise meter rates to the same level as a garage.
Now Hochum can make her nail appointment on time.
Hochul's Government is based in Albany.
But if you want to harass people in a transit station and urinate on a bench then that is permitted for free.
Congestion pricing? What a joke. Even after the pricing, they'll still be asking for more cash from the feds. Basketcase of a city.
Just bill the uber companies and taxis, delivery trucks not regular commuters. Majority of the traffic are commercial vehicles providing services!!!!!!!!!! This is egregious
the mta is allready spending the congestion pricing money lol
Use public transit. Problem solved
In the meantime the MTA is begging low/no income people to get reduced fares.
Why are people upset in NYC? They voted blue for the governor and mayor who both want this and knew about it before the 2022 election. THEY VOTED FOR THIS!
Most people in NYC are not too upset about this. It is people from outside the city who are most upset about this.
@@unconventionalideas5683Speak for yourself I’m upset and I’m pretty sure people are. If I’m driving to nj that’s already near $100 which is fucking crazy
