    Very helpful video, thanks. Is your DSLR attached to the desk or your monitor arm? If so, what are you using to attach it to the monitor arm?

    Great Info! Have you tried taking off the base from the El Gato Air and put it on a clamped base? I would love the wifi features with the alternative base if possible. Also, do you have a video comparing them with Lume Cube? The disadvantaged of the latter is that is not wifi. Thank you!

    Great review. I like the high contrast moody studio setups with coloured lights in the background, so I think I'm going to blackout my room so the natural light has less impact otherwise I'm bright one day, dull the next. I also read that the Key Light is better for a green screen, as the additional light output gives a flatter green to chroma key out. I think the Air works well for illuminating the person. I also believe it can be clamped to the desk using Elgato's Master Mount system, but this seems to take it away from its major selling point - price. For me, I'm going with two Key Lights so I don't have to upgrade in the future when I buy the green screen.

    I had the Elgato Key Light Air for a day and just returned it via Amazon. I was disappointed with the Control Center. It only works with 2.4 GHz WiFi. In order to adjust the settings on the light, I had to change the WiFi settings on my laptop from Dual Band to the slower 2.4 GHz format. It would have been a great light if it worked via Bluetooth or supported dual band WiFi connections.

    Good job - you answered the questions I had relating to balancing out window light from an opposite direction. Love the cord management. Seems like the Key Light Air could be portable with a different stand.

      Yes it’s a great product actually. Saw that it had dropped over Black Friday amzn.to/3GgRJAv. Hope you’re able to snag one!

    Thank you so much for doing this. Was trying to figure out which light would be best and you helped so much. I would love the Elgato Air but don't want the stand. Will see if I can mount it on a clamp arm.

    How much of a factor was your DSLR settings. Many of us out here in remote land have a cheapo external webcam or our laptop cam and no ability to change contrast or white.

  • @JBoy340a

    Thanks for doing this, especially where you are mixing ambient light with artificial lights. I have a window to my side just like you do. I suspect many people have the same issue.
    FWIW, Neewer does have models with remote control via Bluetooth and a phone app. Using your settings and shoving it in a cheap softbox, it produced nice light that balanced out the outside light.

      Yesss! You totally get it then. It’s been very much about jerry rigging something that works. Good to know about Neewer with BT/app!

      Great question! Looks like this is a pretty new product. I don't remember seeing it when I did this video last year. I'd imagine it's a solidly built product with the app integration which I like. That said, there are a ton of LED lights for photography/videography at that size. Similar to the Aputure AL-MX, I've been using the
      ULANZI VL120. It does a lot of the same things for a fraction of the price but you don't have app integration. Hope that helps!

    Your explanations are beautifully detailed... but I still can't figure out whats best for me. Zooming 3-5 hours every day... large audience. Looking for professional yet natural. When you mentioned the tri-pod legs at the end--I almost fell over lol-kills me! This is my main issue. Large Dell screen (so no suction cups here)... even with a large desk... the tri-pod kills the ease of use.

    Great video. I'm using NEEWER lights. They have these color filters (Blue, red, yellow, green) that I'm trying to figure out what to do with. Yellow makes me look jaundice. Red makes me look sunburn. Beyond that .. still figuring it out. Thanks for the video !!

    Does it bother you if you look directly into Elgato Key light? Like when you look directly at the strong light, it blinds you for few seconds

    • @GoingAwesomePlaces
      @GoingAwesomePlaces  Год назад

      Yeah you totally can. The app you use to control them can handle multiple devices so you’d just turn them on individually.

  • @marqueemolina6929

    Aren't they blinding? I'm just using phone flashlight (im broke 😂) placed above my webcam and its kinda hard to the eyes.

    • @GoingAwesomePlaces
      @GoingAwesomePlaces  2 года назад +1

      The camera flash light is insanely bright actually and doesn’t have a diffuser to spread out the light. That’s why these type of lights work well for things like Zoom calls.

    Plus the tips used are very unable to be applied, because it requires a "professional" setup even though you certainly know that video tutorials like this will be watched by many beginners.
