  • This week I revisit the swell guy himself, Kharn the Betrayer. I remember this mini well from games I would play as a kid; Taking out hoards of my Eldar, and wreaking havoc on the battlefield. I decided to put this guy up on ebay for the same price I purchased him at. If you are interested in getting hold of this fantastic old sculpt, here is the link to the auction:

    Donating Minis:
    If you would like to donate a mini to be rescued on the channel then please send me an email with the type of mini, pictures if you can, and a little bit about the history of the mini! Donations have become a big part of the channel and I want to do as much as I can to share the story and history along with painting your mini! I do ask that the minis be at least partially painted, something you may have gotten on ebay, or just something that you started and never finished, that way it fits the criteria of a "rescue." I appreciate each and every person who has donated to the cause, you have all helped make this channel better for me and for everyone watching, so thank you from the bottom of my heart!
    Commissions:
    CURRENTLY ACCEPTING
    Commissions are a big part of what keeps this channel going.I always try and keep things as fair as possible, and in most cases, make a video to go along with the job. Not in all cases, but many. The type of commissions I am interested in are of a "rescue" nature. So something that you have had laying around, or something that you started, or someone started and didn't finish. If you want something new then I am still interested but please understand that if it doesn't fit within the theme of the channel then it probably won't get featured in a video.
    I do commissions for $15/hour plus shipping and supplies. I will also give you a free estimate that I will honor for 6 months from the date on the estimate. Thank you all again for your submissions, and helping keep the lights on here at EMR!

      Yeah the green was a cool look and green does add a good amount of contrast to a red model. I suppose if someone were so inclined, they could buy it and change it. It's small enough that you could go over it pretty quick to change the color.

    I find it amazing that these people, who live in a tent on the outskirts of the city, have basically nothing to their name, keep smiling and cherishing each other like they are rich in love and family. You have to admit that most of the people here are speaking two languages and that their children are engaged and happy to be in school, compared to many here in the US who can barely speak English and think that school is a waste of time.

    Blight King please! I don’t know much about 40k minis or warhammer in general, but I do love the options for painting decay and rot. It would be really interesting to see purpleish, glowing innards, like a toxic waste zombie or one that the blood is a black, ichor like oil with iridescent tones. I think something fun like that would make it a stand out piece from the typical rotting dudes.
    Thank you so much for making this content for us! I haven’t gotten into painting minis myself, but I love to do terrain and I make digital minis for 2d play. It’s wonderful to watch and learn from you. All in all, totally useable techniques, in and out of the topic of miniatures! I think my favorite video of yours has to be the full diorama of the original black coach. So inspiring and it is something that I go back and watch every once and awhile. Thank you again.

    I'd like to respectfully disagree with you in regards to Chaos Black vs. Abaddon Black; I find that Chaos Black has a distinctly gray tone to it as opposed to the more or less pure flat black Abaddon Black is. Both are really good paints, mind you, but that's just my 0.02 on the matter. As a Nurgle fan (even though I don't play WH40K, I just like painting the miniatures), I vote for the Blight King first!

    6:00: Have you seen AK Interactive's Xtreme Metals series? The chrome and polished aluminium in particular are really amazing. They're airbrush-only, laquer-based, and can't take much handling however, so Vallejo's Metal Colour series is still the best I've seen for stuff like the highlights you're doing there. But the Xtreme Metal is the first metallic paint where I've looked at result and it didn't look like paint.

      Don’t get me wrong man, I couldn’t appreciate it more. My point is that there is a very low percentage of people who watch the video til the end, especially after the reveal of the model. I created that space in the video for people who continue to watch and would like to have a conversation. A lot of people don’t care for that or don’t have the time and I understand that. If you want to see the model and move on then I get that, it’s nothing personal, and likewise for people who want to spend more time on each video, it’s nothing personal to say that they care more than most people who watch. It’s certainly not meant to be offensive, so I’m sorry if you were offended in any way, it wasn’t my intention at all.

    I was so impressed with your result, I really purchased an airbrush (Harder & Steenbeck). Before experimenting and wasting too much paint, I'd like to know your PSI when airbrushing. If you also happen to have a thinning ratio for airbrushing Citadel paints it would be double awesome!
    Do you use Citadel base paints for airbrushing or Citadel Air?

    • @JamesReiling

      Dont use water it can foul over time, best thing to use is a mix of medium and flow aid

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  4 года назад

      I use flow aid, and just enough to get the paint moving out of the pot and into the bottle. I do a lot of airbrushing of course, and flow aid is my main source of thinning, so it made sense for me to just go that route. It's been months and all of my bottles are still good, so it definitely works :)

      LA's doesn't really shine up the metal, but having the soap and really getting in there with a toothbrush helps a lot! If you have really dark metal then you could try using a dremel with a brush attachment, you have to be careful, but it will get the metal looking really really shiny.

    How do you go about finding these minis? I'd love to do stuff like this, but I can never seem to find them. Do you go in with a certain model in mind, or just browse with certain settings/keywords?

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  4 года назад +1

      Generally I like to do pretty broad searches like “Age of Sigmar.” Then I’ll go into the filter section and put a a few on, like only looking at used models, or maybe ones that have been painted. There are a few good ones in there. Then I’ll usually set a price range, just so I can limit what I’m looking at a little more. Then it’s just a matter of searching through those listings. You don’t always find something, but if you’re patient then something will pop up eventually :)

    I have two of them that I'm selling on eBay. I painted them up as best as I could and I'm trying to sell them for $60 a piece because that's what the new model sells for. Also you don't have enough blood for the blood God on this model Kharn would not be happy.

    Do you thin the contrast paint down before airbrushing?

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  3 года назад

      For the most part you don't have to. They are very thin and work really well straight through the brush! The red especially is such a good looking color right out of the pot.

    Meanwhile, after watching enough of your videos, I bought some Ork Battlewagon parts (enough to make the main body sans wheels) and plan on making it into a hovering type studded with leftover weapons and verniers from my gundam/Zoids kits (weapons mostly being missiles and a Gojulas's quad barreled shock cannon). Now if only I can figure out the main color.....

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  4 года назад

      That sounds like a rad project! Ork kitbashes are some of the best out there. Color wise, I'd go heavily chipped rusty yellow. I do love yellow armored orks though, so I may be a bit biased.

      @@eBayMiniatureRescues Of all the kit's I've done (gundam and Zoids) I did notice how yellow based colors always took to chipped/heavy weathering the best. I am planning on making it a Torgue Brand from Borderlands 2 (cause explosions) so that helps

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  4 года назад

      There were some difficult areas to reach on this model. Normally it's better to go with sub assemblies to help with that, but I feel like most of the older pewter models are not too bad to reach if you're careful. Still, getting in that shoulder pad with the khorne mark was a bit tough.
