I hope you enjoyed this much more chill video, and that you had some time to take a break over the last few weeks. Thank you for watching and hanging out, I hope 2024 is a great hobby year for you :)
Yes! Please don't feel the need to always one-up yourself and constantly go bigger and crazier. Down that road may lie glory, but also burnout and ruin.
Never underestimate how we the viewers LOVE a simple ebay rescue/ sonic clean/ paint video - this was awesome to watch and you can do this as much as you like - keep up the great work Casey
People sometimes seem to forget that hobbies are meant to be enjoyable. These videos are really lovely for reinforcing that we should have fun. :) Great conversion and painted model too. Love the grim dark stormcast.
So I thought to myself “Why is he swapping out the head for a different, similar head. Waste of time.” Then it got to the priming montage and we got to see the head you chose and it went from ‘meh but fits fine’ to ‘badass’ and I understood completely. NOICE. 😊
So cool, very nice chill video. I often like these types of videos because it gives a reminder that this hobby is as fun as you want it to be, not everything has to be an army painting or massive project. Sometimes all it is, is a mini that looks cool and a relaxing painting session. Great video Casey :)
im at that exact point right now, so this suggestion to break it up came at the right time: for me it was switching to zombicide and just blasting through some zombos without any care whatsoever and without necessarily wanting to finish the box or any goal, just bloodying up some zombs and not painting carefully is what i need right now (been doing many "i should finish my army" sort of things and that was too much)
I have run into this exact same thing with some models I have bought for a game- I recently moved and don't have any players around anymore, and was questioning "why should I even paint these" but then realized painting is part of the enjoyment and is often the reason itself!
I'm gradually getting back into the hobby after years and am finding it hard to push through painting. I largely put it down to how detailed new minis are compared to 2nd/3rd edition stuff. Perhaps I need to pick up the vintage boltthrower I have and build it, just for fun. Thanks for the video Casey!
Awesome job with the conversion. I’d say one thing you could have done, was cut off one of the spikes on the mace so it was sitting on top of the head. I’ve never judged a golden demon models but I’d say that would be one of things they might mark against you as having the mace semi floating and not right on top of the orks head like the hammer was. Keep up the great work!
I’m painting the very last model in a gift army for a friend to get him into 40K (Sisters Exorcist) and…this model is a STRUGGLE. It’s taken me as long as all the rest of the models in the army and I’m way overdue as is. I appreciate this video. I think I’m going to find something fun in my collection that deserves paint and just relax for a change of pace.
Excellent work as always! I really liked the chill, as-it-comes way this video went. The style worked well and I'm glad it was easier for you. The end result was both professional and informative - in ways other videos often neglect (e.g., problem solving). I also liked what you said about burnout and the need to sometimes shift gears and do something for the fun of it. It's something I've found quite helpful of late. In my case: the last two weeks, I wanted to exploit winter vacation to get a lot of painting done. I was going to sit down and blast it out before the inevitable report carts/end-of-semester January rush. But I just... found myself unhappy, uninspired, and not wanting to do it. So I pushed back all the projects I'd planned, took a few days to do literally anything else, and when I came back, I turned to a project that hadn't been on my radar: a Heavy Intercessors I'd be given a few days earlier. Even if I'd owned it beforehand, it would have been so far back in my pipeline, I probably wouldn't have touched it until summer. But it's a box I've long wanted to do, so I grabbed it, opened it, and started building. While I did, I decided to experiment with some oyumaru I'd picked up for another project, tried casting stuff for the first time, and incorporated the results. Honestly, I didn't do much beyond those five models and a massive backlog of spare pouches- but I had fun! And as of the last few days, I've found the desire to actually paint again. So remember, people: there's no shame in putting a project aside if the passion isn't there! It'll come back - eventually. A day, a week, a year... Doesn't matter. Only having fun does!
Happy new year Casey, great video and love the displate's on the wall, can't wait to see what else you do over the year , and no more cutting your finger ok.😅
would be cool if you made one or got one that looked exactly looked like how this one looked originally but made it for the other group instead cause that would be cool to see
Noticed a couple different shots (like setting up lights and table) and zooms (slow zoom to where you ended up standing) so it made sense when you said you were trying something new - well done - that slow zoom gave me a little unease - a, “what am I supposed to be looking at?” feeling - could be useful in a Halloweeny context - always happy to see you’ve posted
I'm juggling two large projects (both are big kits) right now. One of them involves trying to replicate something resembling the cover of "Giger's Alien" and the other involves me trying my hand at NMM steel again (yikes), so I've already got something small built and ready for priming to take a break from these two projects. Because the bigger projects are pushing my skills and having something smaller on hand to take a break from those is a great idea. Also, I like the name "Grim Bald", it needs to be a Thing, I think!
Happy holidays to you and yours, Casey! Another great looking model! I think you should consider putting a little red pigment powder on the other baldies. It looks good, and breaks up the dark a bit. Oh, and I enjoyed the new style of video. I appreciate coming along for the process.
I enjoy you experimenting with new formats, but keeping rescuing mini's as the core idea. I personally also enjoy when you including the hunt for the mini on ebay (or elsewhere), but have no idea if those video do well enough.
It's always good to take a break from a project - especially a large one (like working on my Flesh Tearers), so I started this year off with an idea I'd had for a while, and that was to build and paint a Primaris version of Sgt Telion from the Ultramarines. I'm currently sat here, edge highlighting blue armour, while watching your video 😅
Since i stopped playing the tabletop games that require full armies, and stick to smaller solo player rpg style tabletop games, plus getting into 3d printing, has really fought the burnout. No longer am i trying to assembly line full units. Now i just grab something off my shelf or print something new that looks interesting in that moment. Also realizing that boardgame models dont need heavy metal style paintjobs. The models wont be as crisp as gw hard plastics, but a simple contrast and done paint job makes the game look so much better than just player models were cast in one color plastic and enemies were cast in a different color.
I want to find the types of models you do, and I'd like to try fixing them up and adding a little something to my own games and armies, what exactly do you do to find the models that you do?
you know, like this and with your paint, it makle me think about the 2 psyker in astartes, so maybe just the staff and glowing blue eyes could have been cool
What do you use in your sonic cleaner? I’m uk based and was thinking isopropyl alcohol would be fine but u do this regularly so I thought you could add some insight
@ebayMiniatureRescues looking for the cleaner you use la totally awesome, never used a sonic cleaner and hoped you could talk me through it. Thank you in advance
I have a DnD player making a bard dragonborn, themainmodels that are out not only look similiar, but are more in a fighting stance. Those models being Fighter and Paladin dragonborn, is there a conversion kit, or some place to find a more bard themed dragonborn, or could you do a big conversion?
Im not sure how a person gets hobby burnout, You’re channel has so few posts I’m about to add others to watch in my hobby genre. Other channels I watch have two posts a week and a shorter daily progress blog. You’re one of my favorite channel concepts,

I usually dont comment on anything, but this was amazing! I absolutely loved the style of this one. Would love to see more of that!
Yes! Please don't feel the need to always one-up yourself and constantly go bigger and crazier. Down that road may lie glory, but also burnout and ruin.
Loved it
such a great channel. only warhammer/painting channel that i am going back and watching old videos on, i can tell you that for sure.
Never underestimate how we the viewers LOVE a simple ebay rescue/ sonic clean/ paint video - this was awesome to watch and you can do this as much as you like - keep up the great work Casey
Simple videos are good, especially if i am stuck at work and need something i can watch while getting interrupted
I enjoyed the calmer, sort of lofi, vibe of this video a lot.
I'm a big fan of the usual style too, but this was nice.
The silver highlighting sequence was awesome - great music, lovely chill, mesmerising to watch. Awesome

Great video! Your grimdark style and paint scheme really looks awesome on these Stormcast guys.
I liked the original model better. If it was me, I would have cleaned that one up and just painted it as is. That massive hammer was nice.
Always struggle with army painting for long periods, but I absolutely can spend a long period of time on a single random model.
I always love these videos, no need to always do one better on yourself to please us or massive projects, this is a perfect video 👍🏽
This is one of your best videos in a while. No dig meant; you’re always solid. This just felt more, well, more! You know? Cheers
Awesome job with the conversion. I’d say one thing you could have done, was cut off one of the spikes on the mace so it was sitting on top of the head.

Really liked the final glamour shots section, clean and well edited, old paint job, new paint job and next to each other in turnaround 👌
Great video as always. One question -> What are you using in your ultrasonic cleaner?
Oh you could've remove the top spike on the mace making it look like it was penetrating the skin of the orc.
Impressive stuff, and nice learning some more techniques to try out.

Dude, this video was much more enjoyable for me than your normal videos. I hope you consider making more in this style. Nice work.
Brilliant video, I'm loving the improved lighting, your set up is really starting to sing :)

The mini and video are both top quality.
Love all your videos. Thank you for taking the time to make them. Enjoyed them from the beginning. Keep rockin on bro. :)
Happy new year Casey, great video and love the displate's on the wall, can't wait to see what else you do over the year , and no more cutting your finger ok.😅
Love your work, and your candor. :)
Question, though - where did you get those display cases? Those look perfect. :)
would be cool if you made one or got one that looked exactly looked like how this one looked originally but made it for the other group instead cause that would be cool to see
Your shop is looking super sweet! Love the workspace and display cases.
5:06 Are these the Home Depot cases?
great video. loved the message.
Thanks :)

Always great work very motivating and well explained to help us all get better hopefully
Great video waaaaaaay better than the other ones. Keep doing this type

Very enjoyable and good advice

Grim - Check
Dark - Check
Awesomeness - Check
Really great content, thank you
Love the display cases you have! Where are they from?
Cool as always 👍
this was a cool video dude!
That looks pretty sweet
well done
keep up the great work

Love your channel! Keep it up
I like how this turned out. But I think I preferred the look of head and hammer it started out with.
Since i stopped playing the tabletop games that require full armies, and stick to smaller solo player rpg style tabletop games, plus getting into 3d printing, has really fought the burnout. Casey, as always a great video. Would love to a video of how you removed the original hammer and then used the program to replace it tithe mace.
I was just wondering when you would be uploading again
Great video. I also really liked the music. What is the name of the track? Starting with "Metal Cleanup".
What chemicals do you use in the sonic cleaner? And would that also work for resin?
What resin do you use for your 3d prints? I saw you have many of your 3d printed figures of the same resin in your shelfs.
I want to find the types of models you do, and I'd like to try fixing them up and adding a little something to my own games and armies, what exactly do you do to find the models that you do?
With the colors and the head it reminds me of Karn from Magic:The Gathering
you know, like this and with your paint, it makle me think about the 2 psyker in astartes, so maybe just the staff and glowing blue eyes could have been cool
What do you use in your sonic cleaner? I’m uk based and was thinking isopropyl alcohol would be fine but u do this regularly so I thought you could add some insight
What solvent do you use in your sonic cleaner?
Where did you pick up that killer apron from?
Where u get the hand and leg armor for the librarian where the bones show??
Me wathcing in horror as my space marine colour scheme is recreated step by step...
Have you tried setting your stress meter to Wumbo?
@ebayMiniatureRescues looking for the cleaner you use la totally awesome, never used a sonic cleaner and hoped you could talk me through it. Thank you in advance

Someone could make a sweet thunder warriors army out of sigmarines
Is just me or is the music a bit loud this time?
❤️🥳👍🏿

How about painting something non warhammer
I really hate preppy apple advertisement music.
Doesn’t look good for all the time you put in it . Sorry to say
The mace was such a dumb idea. Makes no sense.
Stormcast pole dancer.
