I had Samantha, loved her. I really wanted all the dolls, but my grandma who raised me said I could only pick one. Samantha looked like me and lived with her grandma, and I also loved the time period. My grandma owned an antique shop so all our furniture was from the 1800s and early 1900s. My grandma was born in 1915 so that was another reason I chose Samantha.
Ty for this video. I used to love looking through the catalog and wishing I had all her items. My parents didn't buy me any dolls because they thought the prices were ridiculous. But they did buy me the books, and the cookbook and a few magazines. It was fun seeing all this stuff I've only seen pictures of as a kid.
I got really lucky when I found this collection on Craigslist. I think I paid $400 for it, and then sold the Samantha for $80 since I already had one. The deals are out there, you just have to always be looking for them 💜
TYSM! I liked seeing the comparison. Very informative. HAHA! Funny cat. Doesn't care if you put the lid on or move the box, he just wants to sit in the dang box mommy! ROFLOL. I'm really enjoying these AG tours. TFS!
Samantha is one of my favorites! I wanted her so badly as a child that the newer 2004 Samantha I got as a teenager wasn't doing it for me. I wasn't satisfied until I got a PC Samantha of my own. I have a lot of her original collection (mostly Mattel versions), too. My favorites are her play and middy dresses.
That was fun! I’m not a big Sam fan, either, but I LOVE the quality of the OG PC items. Those extra long bangs were “modified” by lots of little girls. Kudos to you for restraining yourself. You’ve been a true collector from the start.
Samantha was my favorite because I was obsessed with frilly old-fashioned things as a kid and I thought her dresses were the prettiest. I wanted her trunk so bad but never got it because $150 was just Too Much even for parents who supported my American Girl obsession.
I never got any of the trunks as a kid either, I've been really excited to get them as an adult. I'm still looking for Molly and Josefina's, but one day 🤞
Hi! I never knew anything about these dolls until last week when my granddaughter had her book and went on and on about this samantha doll. She showed me so many different sites and such and practically begged for me to get her one without anything even on so her and i could dress her up ❤ i apparently have been living in a cave all these years lol
Samantha is my favorite! I still have mine from childhood (although I had to clean her up a bit!) I did have quite a few of her items as well but some did get lost over time but I love her collection and have a few outfits for her!
Yay!! Mine actually could use a good cleaning, it's funny I clean all the stuff I get at thrift stores but don't take the time to clean the stuff I played with as a kid. Thank you for watching 💜
I have a Samantha but I didn't go for her for the pink, it was the historical time frame & dark brown hair that drew me in. I purposely asked for her school outfit so she'd be more subdued I guess lol
I had Samantha back in the day with quite a few outfits. I have a daughter and am trying to get into the whole American Girl thing again. However, I'm on the website and I'm kind of confused. Are the collections NOT as extensive as before? I felt like each doll had such an intricate story with so many different outfits and scenes. However, when looking now, it seems like the dolls have one or two furniture sets tops and a few outfits. Are they not as extensive anymore?
I have only 1 American Girl doll, a Samantha, that my gramma gave me for Christmas a long time ago. She's in great condition, buuuuut my dumb kid self got her ears pierced at the AG Store. Now normally this'd be fine, but I think she's a PM doll >~
I think it's okay to have them pierced, even if she is PM. A lot of people like that, even on the historical dolls. I got my Sonali doll's ears pierced, she is Mattel but I love the way she looks with earrings 😍
Her tag line in her original book “A Bright Victorian beauty “ is technically wrong since it takes place in 1904 and that’s the Edwardian era. I have that blue dress she’s wearing with the pinafore, I don’t have the doll, but I have the dress or replica,I bought it from Etsy last month, I have an Our Generation doll. I wanted a Samantha doll growing up ,but my Mom said they were too expensive,I can probably buy one now that I’m grown, but I think my Our Generation doll works as well I really wanted the clothes and there’s lots of shops on Etsy that sew historical clothes.
People always complain about that, but her birth year would have been Victorian, and she was being raised by a very Victorian grandmother, so I get it. I think they were trying to have her be as close to Victorian as possible, while still having Alice Roosevelt, while still having her be 9.
Oh I'm soo jealous of your Samantha collection 😍😍😍😍😍 I got Josefina as kid in 1998, but also got clothes/collections from Samantha, Felicity and Molly as well. I always wanted Samantha. And now nothing of her original clothes are for sale on American Girl site. 😭😭😭I adore everything Samantha 💕💕💕
I am obsessed with agdolls. Especially the OG’s. I know Samantha came out three different ways, I have the second one made by pleasant company. I have her sellers outfit from Brook five but I don’t have the whistle. I also have her hat and mittens from books 6. And I have to find the rest of the outfit. I want to get her whole set. I think that would be so cool
Your Samantha is beautiful. So far I haven't been able to snag her trunk yet. (I sort of have a collection on vintage and antique doll trunks.) I started with one PC Samantha whose wig I spa treated and was given a second PC one, so I have twins, Mignonette Annemarie and Magnolia Annemarie. I don't have doubles of the clothing but picked up some in lots. I do have the PDF pattern. I also have PC Nellie whose wig was falling apart and I rewigged, Nuala Marie Claire.
I just found all my old AG dolls while cleaning up an the first one I got was Samantha :,) this makes me want to get some more pieces of her retired collections 💕
Samantha was my 2nd doll she's my favorite historical character and I have Nellie too. I love Samantha's movie. I got Samantha desk from a thrift store for like 10 bucks
Same as me: my first is Rebecca, then I purchased Samantha two years ago: I had the luck to find the original Pleasant's one, owned, but in perfect shape with her classic outfit: now I love her madly 😍. About the movie, I consider "Samantha American Girl Holiday" a true masterpiece: the best A.G. movie together with the Molly's one.
Samantha wasn't my favorite either. I do like the Victorian/Edwardian style, but Felicity was my favorite. My daughter is more of a Samantha fan. She is avidly searching for Samantha's collection PC and Beforever. I say she's avidly searching, but she's just a kid so she relies on my generosity. This last Christmas I gave her the bedroom set with nightgown. Only thing she's missing there are the kimono and slippers
I liked the Felicity books my neighbour had all her books I used to beg her to let me borrow them to read. Then the library finally got their own copies. I wanted the Samantha doll because the Edwardian era (she’s Edwardian not Victorian Era) was my favourite era because my favourite book/movie “A Little Princess “ took place during that time.
I have two, the black one is named Bruce but we never call him that, we call him the Pimentillo (it means "little pepper" in Spanish), and the orange one is named Alfred, but he normally gets called Alfredo or just Fredo 😻
I need to make up my mind, someone is selling their entire Kirsten collection for $300.00 and someone is selling their entire Samantha collecting, also for $300.00. they both have the complete winter story, birthday story, and school story, plus the doll and their big item. the question is..... WhIcH sHoUlD i GeT?
@@MunecasPoupeesDolls Oh i see! I just love your AG videos because someday, I also hope to get more vintage AG stuff. Right now all I have are the dolls but I really to get their collection as well. :)
Thnaks for watching 💜 I do know that I can but I would never have a PC head replaced with a Mattel one. I talk about in my Addy and AGOT videos how it would feel like the doll wasn't "mine" anymore. Maybe I'll get brave one day and cut those bangs down 😂
Muñecas, Poupees, and Dolls Same here!! I got my Samantha for Christmas ‘92. I was 10! Best gift ever! I knew I recognized the box and wrapping! Yours is a beauty! 😍💕
The pleasent company quality was really something else

Samantha sounds like she was the perfect choice for you 💜💜
So adorable when your cat suddenly got inside the box!
Samantha is such a beautiful historical AG doll ❤ I think my 🤩 favorite! Good you kept so many of her accessoires. 😊
I just love all her accessories 😍
Amazing collection! I truly love the porcelain set! So unique and detailed!

Love the cat in the box! Samantha was in my grandmother's era and Molly was my mother's so those two were my original favorites.
