Seeing the taido man move has me convinced that the traditional stances and stepping from karate/ kungfu is better than a boxers footwork or modern sport karate and tae Kwon do. There were a few times he easily stepped around her kicks when she was hopping up and down on one foot , he grabbed her leg but held back from a scissors leg takedown or sweep. My only one complaint is many of the ground moves he did should be used as a counter to a high kick instead of a offensive move.

Although maybe in the next batch of new characters through DLC something might come up.
